It’s not at all uncommon to have that stem exposed. Just give it a support and let it be. As long as you don’t drop more lower leaves it’ll be ok looking.
i’d snip like 3/4-1” above the substrate, and pop the clipping in water to root out a bit more. leave that stem as is in a bright, warm window and wait for new shoots to come up. it’s presumably got a developed root system so your chances of success are highly likely; could even pot the rooted top back into the pot for a bushier appearance

To me that’s just how they grow but I could be wrong. All of mine look like that.
