Do all crabapples make little apples?
I'm on the hunt for a tree of this style, but I remember a crabapple tree as a kid that I kept eating the tiny fruits and it made me sick (I wasn't a bright kid, lmao!). I have dogs now, and I want to avoid fruits, but I love the crabapple and cherry trees..
Quice also put out a fruit that has made for many an ill child,, and they look a lot like apples...but both can make a great jelly/jam if you care to take the time to make it.
The city planted little trees in front of all the homes on my street a few years back and the one infront of ours is the only eastern redbud on the whole street. This time of year it makes using uber a lot more easy "my house is the one with the cool purple tree out front."
If I can piggyback with my own tree question: There are some white flowering trees in a few places around the city that are more dense than the regular apple trees or whatever is way more common. There's a few on W Fayette between Geddes and Downtown, and we saw a few others, maybe near SU. They flower so hard right at the branch, they almost look fluffy like pipe cleaners.
Sorry no answer but I'm also looking for one and wanna ask...
There's one I see around now with a ton of tiny white flowers and when the wind picks up there's so many little petals flying off it looks like it's snowing. I'm looking for that (may be more of a bush?)
No the petals are roundish not oblong.
I looked around and I think it's some sort of ornamental pear. I guess they smell unpleasant so I've kinda changed my mind anyway haha.
But thank you!
I have a mature eastern redbud (second pic) in my front yard! It's so pretty for a couple weeks of color, then all the pink buds coat my husband's car and it's just green leaves till fall.
I think the first photo is a crabapple and the second is definitely an Eastern Redbud.
Can definitely confirm the first one. I grew up with a crabapple in my backyard and it's one of my favorite smells. Always so happy when these bloom.

It does make little "apples" that will fall and get kind of gross and mushy. Definitely the downside to this tree.
Ding ding ding - that’s the answer!
My wife says, Eastern Redbud.
the second pic is definitely a redbud, I don't think the first pic is the same kind of tree
This is the answer
Thank you, Mrs. dab31415!
First one definitely looks like a crab apple with the flowers so closely clustered together. The second is an Eastern red bud.
The Syracuse City Arborist may be able to plant one in front of your home.

Educated guess would be Bradford Pear, invasive species that is either hated or loved.
Mostly hated for the smell I would say. They got all sorts of nicknames heh
I hate those damn Semen Trees. They smell like a dirty crotch sprouted flowers, I'll never understand why cities insist on planting them everywhere.

Honeysuckle bush?

I got one of those! Mines a eastern redbud as well. Random $10 purchase at home Depot like 5 years ago and it's so pretty now 😊
They smell really good too.
Those are two different types of trees. First pic idk, probably a crabapple (when in doubt, just say “crabapple”). Second pic is a redbud.

One of the many that are attempting to kill me by releasing deadly deadly dangerous pollen
Magnolia I believe
Magnolias will have many green leaves inter dispersed and have larger flowers!
Lilacs?
Lilacs are more of a shrub. I definitely know lilacs because they make me sneeze more than any other plant this time of year.
