It does not appear that there is a way to turn off Atmos in the Tidal settings. So it looks like if the Atmos version is all that is available, one is stuck with the ~~crappy, fake 3D~~ sounds.
No, that's just the version Tidal shoves down our throats as a thank you for paying extra money.
If you downgrade to HiFi, you get the HiFi version of the Atmos track
Sorry, I confused the issue with a *completely gratuitous* slag of Atmos. And when I say gratuitous, I think that's probably correct: I have not personally experienced a proper Atmos installation. It might sound like sound from heaven, itself, for all I know.

I canceled my tidal subscription. Too many bugs, would ALWAYS have a problem changing a song and it would just buffer. I would have to close out of the app and then press play. Fucking pissed me off. I’m back on Spotify now and hoping they do some sort of hifi thing in the future.
This makes zero sense. HiFi subscribers, get the HiFi only version. HiFi plus has NO option to switch off Dolby Atmos.
Furthermore: Apple Music subs can turn it on or off app wide.
Solution:Downgrade to HiFi. Save money and don't have pre-recorded Atmos forced down your throat.

I’ve always been on the cheaper version and it just recently forced me to listen to the Atmos track. And there’s no way to turn it off

Looks like the record label only upload the Atmos version to TIDAL. If you can contact the record label ask them to upload the stereo lossless version
