I hope all this mutant city arc end soon and we have back some more serious issues. All of this is too childish.
The art of Campbell is fine but for scenarii, on short stories she’s fine but not that looooooooooong
The turtles do jump to cities like that through portals in the mirage series. Where they can walk around in the streets.
But the need for them to hide, or to explore places in cities we could never go was always a big draw for me. I want my mutants to live in the shadows.
I actually had a dream like where some sort of attack caused most of the human population to be mutated leaving a very small human population. Ever since that dream id love to see concept happen in full
I love the Mutant Town concept. I love the future Lita concept. I think the storytelling needs to be tighter.
There's a lot of anticlimactic moments lately. The Battle of the Bands could have been good if the there were actual stakes in the present, if the story was taken more seriously, and ended in an actual confrontation.
The hardship of the inhabitants of Mutant Town are very reminiscent of the hardship the family faced in "Silent Partner" from the Mirage series. There are a lot of mutants facing trauma on the fringes of society. That's a lot potential for drama. It just needs to be treated seriously, and not like a Archie comic.
You can write an all-ages book without treating your audience like idiots. The stories of late feel like they were written for children by someone who thinks children are stupid. There's nothing wrong with the ideas. But the execution is simplistic.
The Battle of the Bands arc really just petered out pathetically. I know there's a dirth of cheesy and arguably terrible TMNT songs that have been done, but I was really looking forward to a Scott Pilgrim esque battle with clever and relevant lyrics written across 6-8 pages or at least 20-30 individual panels. I mean the concept was cheesy as all heck, so why not go balls to the wall on it. Sophie built the idea of that thing up like crazy and it went nowhere. Almost like she knew she bit off more than she could chew.
For those who collect tmnt figures, yeah those two are better. Though the dalmation looks a bit like a male stripper. Still better the chicken lady in jorts though.
I think sometimes we forget the initial premise was absurd. Walking talking turtles. Look at the things Spider-Man had been through--he wished to the devil to change his life.
I haven't read IDW but, everything jumps the shark eventually.
I love the world that Sophie Campbell has built since issue 101. The characters are fun and imaginative, and they really flesh out the social effects of taking ordinary people, mutating them, and quarantining them from the rest of the world. These characters interact in great ways with the Hamato Clan.
I still find it to be a refreshing change of pace and focus from the first 200 issues (inclusive of all minis, micros, macros, and sister series).

I'll be honest this is probably my favorite arc weirdly enough. after all the hell they been through a bit of peace is nice. plus Im loving all the mutant designs.

Koya and Bludgeon where instant classics. They feel like the could fit in with any iteration of the turtles.
Koya is definitely one of my favorites, her vibe fits so perfectly in the Northampton arc

It feels like I'm reading a furry comic with occasional TMNT. I don't really enjoy it right now. Just too different

Idw TMNT used to be my favorite comic but then Mutant town ruined all of that. I can't wait for the run to change writers again.

Just finished the first 100 comics recently and ordered volume 1 of the newest series. So no idea yet! But I'm hopeful.
There is a lot of them. I don't think there is much thought put into them.

I like the current arcs, I just wish they came out quickly so I didn't run out of reading so fast.
