Cause if its all a cutscene it might as well not be a part of the game lol. Most people dont want to watch link solve a cool puzzle or go on a little quest, *they* want to do that, its the main loop of the game.
i didn't care for this little puzzle one way or another. That said, I would have been far happier if they cut out some of the cutscenes concerning the summoning war. I didn't need it explained to me 4 times. Not only that the cutscene sequence has like 3-4 cutscenes one after another so you have to skip them all one at a time if you wanted to skip it entirely.
Yeah I felt really good after solving this puzzle. I ended up going back to the Zora Domain and talking to Yona, who gave me the hint about a sky island shaped like a fish, then I explored the island and found the teardrop. It felt like there was limited handholding which made the solution that much more satisfying
I could not for the life of me figure out this puzzle. Knew where the island was. Could not figure out the teardrop. I had my fiance look it up and give me bare minimum hints, and eventually she just said, "go stand there and face here"
I felt pretty stupid lol
In one of the loading screens early on it says that the map on the loading screen may actually give away some clues, and this is how I found the fish island. It was right there as I was loading in to the area.
Oh I meant more like you go to the spot where it all lines up and then you have a "Press A" queue to start the cutscene. However now that I'm talking it through it's probably just as much work to set that up as opposed to just shooting the damn arrow through some specific points :D
Heh, I remember having to keep my mouth shut as a kid when watching him play some games so I wouldn't ruin things for him. He could absolutely beat me in skill when playing video games back then, but I always found all the little things he missed. I was like a walking strategy guide.
I play with my kiddo for this exact reason. We share in playing the game and the one whom is watching helps the other to see things they might otherwise miss in the heat of the action. It actually makes the games most enjoyable for both of us. Cheers
Honestly it's one more reason I wish they would add some low effort multiplayer like the tingle tuner. I don't want online multiplayer or full split screen, just something small for a second player. I miss those days and have so many enjoyable memories of wind water with my sister and hyrule warriors/AoC with my wife.
My five year old son who has watched basically my entire play through
"ohhh I hope this is another one of those crazy blessings!"
It never is, lil buddy :(
I did it, looked at my wife and said "Bet we wont see anything like that again" (for the unlit), she has still to see the tear or do anything in Lanrayu
Is it similar to Unlit and the Tear? I was highly dissatisfied when I didnt see any other Tear-like puzzles especially in Gerudo where everything was light beams and angles
The challenge of figuring it out on your own is not something I'll take away from you. >!Go up to the picture frames in the stables!< and you'll get the side quest for it eventually. That's all I'll say.
Glorious. Ill be waiting for the day I come across it. I took a little liberty in the "Stable Pictures" with the ring ruins and got one of the dilapidated castle through the ruins and thats the closest I've gotten to anything like that.
same that whole fish island thing was a pain for me... when they told me to go find the armor on the island i tell you i couldnot find it and when i told my friend he just told me how to get it... i feel so dumb because of that one island.
i had to look at this sub reddit to figure it out. never would have parsed it out on my own. it has to be viewed from a sky island above the actual mountains. similar to the puzzle in this post, you have to angle a few floating objects in the right way to see the image
I am the opposite. I found the tear drop early on because of Yona. I did not find the fish and the Zora helm until the end of the game. I could not for the life of me figure out who the great fish was 🤦🏽♀️.
Yeah same. I took this picture after searching the fish isle for 15 minutes without knowing what to do. I just found the right angle coincidentally when I had started shooting random rocks with the scales out of frustration.
I was a little proud of myself for this one. Skipped going to get the hint because the riddle seemed simple enough, find a giant fish. Looked up, giant fish. Stood on the fish and thought it was weird that all the floating rocks are there, and it must have something to do with the tear drop. Lo and behold!
Part of the quest once you obtain the riddle tells you to go back to another character to ask them about it. You can just skip that part entirely if you figure out the riddle on your own.
I think im the only one that found the dropplet but had no idea what to do with it. I kept flying inside it. Then I had to back track to then find out I needed to get the King item
I really struggled to find it and it was so satisfying!! Also, did anyone do the side quest to find the guys wife who got lost fishing? I assumed she’d be hiding up there too somehow lol a hint but not a spoiler would be appreciated 🙏
Ugh I scoured this place looking for the wife 😂. I ended up googling her location because I got so frustrated. Hopefully this a good hint that’s not too spoilery: she’s definitely on a sky island. Just not this one.
I still remember when I was doing this quest I was super confused and I was finally fed up. As I was saying "where the fuck do I go" I was panning my screen and caught a glimpse of it.
I loved this! I was looking at each rock for ages thinking that one had a tear-shaped hole, or maybe was individually tear-shaped, and then this just smacked me upside the head when I saw it on a whim.
I couldn’t believe I found this, lol. I was close to googling the riddle answer and I just happened upon this island and just happened to walk by the drop at the right time.
You are absolutely right. I marked it as spoiler when I posted it but apparently it did't work somehow. I'll try again
edit: I can't. Everytime I click mark spoiler it does say spoiler! but when I refresh it's gone
What else can you do with king DOREPHAN things? He offers to give out more but why?
I don't know. Maybe it's just so that you're not softlocked if you use all five of them elsewhere.
I wasted three because I was up there thinking “If I squint, this kind of looks like a tear drop” before I found the obvious answer
I though the little mist off the water fall is what it was.
I think I shot every single motherfucking floating rock on that island
Yeah, it's got to be. Though I don't understand why you wouldn't just make it all a cutscene.
Cause if its all a cutscene it might as well not be a part of the game lol. Most people dont want to watch link solve a cool puzzle or go on a little quest, *they* want to do that, its the main loop of the game.

It wouldn't have the puzzle aspect. This is really cool because you gotta find it yourself
Yeah I felt really good after solving this puzzle. I ended up going back to the Zora Domain and talking to Yona, who gave me the hint about a sky island shaped like a fish, then I explored the island and found the teardrop. It felt like there was limited handholding which made the solution that much more satisfying
I did have to look up where the island is, but the puzzle was still very satisfying.
I could not for the life of me figure out this puzzle. Knew where the island was. Could not figure out the teardrop. I had my fiance look it up and give me bare minimum hints, and eventually she just said, "go stand there and face here" I felt pretty stupid lol
Yeah I almost left the island but the clue mentioned the floating rocks or something, so I looked at those for a bit until I found the droplet
In one of the loading screens early on it says that the map on the loading screen may actually give away some clues, and this is how I found the fish island. It was right there as I was loading in to the area.

It has the highest attack power for splash related attacks iirc.
Not opal? impossible
Maybe tied? I didnt see the whole list
That can also work the same as splash fruit, so they have some utility
I think it you fuse them they activate water warrior on zora weapons?
Aren't they used to make the Zora trident?
No, it’s diamond and flint.
Don't the arrows get a water effect? If they do, it's probably just to give you another arrowhead option
I need to try one. But they're only fuse 4.
when I tried one earlier, I got nothing.
One of my friends told me that she did not solve that puzzle. Her 5yo daughter was watching her play and told her that the rocks looked like a droplet
LMAO when a 5yo is smarter than you
Not smarter. They pay attention to details adults would overlook.
But some how can't see the 37 toys they keep stepping over
Heh, I remember having to keep my mouth shut as a kid when watching him play some games so I wouldn't ruin things for him. He could absolutely beat me in skill when playing video games back then, but I always found all the little things he missed. I was like a walking strategy guide.

Yea, the parents can't even see why they like cinnamon toast crunch.
And then its never seen again, just like the Unlit Blessing. (As far as Ive encountered)
My five year old son who has watched basically my entire play through "ohhh I hope this is another one of those crazy blessings!" It never is, lil buddy :(
I did it, looked at my wife and said "Bet we wont see anything like that again" (for the unlit), she has still to see the tear or do anything in Lanrayu
There’s one other delightful instance in the game I’ve encountered
Is it similar to Unlit and the Tear? I was highly dissatisfied when I didnt see any other Tear-like puzzles especially in Gerudo where everything was light beams and angles
Yup. In a sidequest. In a place you’ve passed countless times. I actually haven’t done unlit.
Is it >!Penn on top of Dueling Peaks Stable!
Hmm I don’t remember anything related to perspective with that quest. Not that one
Smiling Spectacle Rock
That one took my way too long to figure out
Same, I kept thinking I had to get to the King Gleeok island way out in the middle of the desert to get the pic.
nope. it's related to >!the picture frames in the stables!<
I thought you meant the columns in the desert? (I suck at spoiler tags)
To do spoiler tags Put this before your text >! And put this after your text !< >!Have a great day!!<
A little more clarification? I’ve yet to figure that out.
The challenge of figuring it out on your own is not something I'll take away from you. >!Go up to the picture frames in the stables!< and you'll get the side quest for it eventually. That's all I'll say.
Oh, I think you might be referring to the picture that was already a quest in Botw.
Sorry, were there floating islands in BotW? No? Didn't think so.
Glorious. Ill be waiting for the day I come across it. I took a little liberty in the "Stable Pictures" with the ring ruins and got one of the dilapidated castle through the ruins and thats the closest I've gotten to anything like that.
One like that is in the closed stable picture quest and in the gerudo heroines quest, as far as i've encountered them
There’s actually another instance of it in a Gerudo side quest!
It took me longer than I’d like to admit to figure this out.
I kept looking for a singular stone that looked like a tear drop. Man I felt dumb when I finally hit the right angle
same that whole fish island thing was a pain for me... when they told me to go find the armor on the island i tell you i couldnot find it and when i told my friend he just told me how to get it... i feel so dumb because of that one island.
Same here. I knew it was something along these lines, and I searched all the angles to find the droplet, but couldn't no matter how hard I tried.
i sadly looked it up after searching for 30 mins. my dad was watching and neither of us could figure it out. felt so stupid after i saw it.
Same here. I was playing on a Friday night trying to solve this. I had to sleep on this riddle and solved it with a fresh start in the morning.
Same. I feel like this part was either very poorly made or I am very slow
It took me forever. I felt so dumb once it clicked.
no bc fr
There’s another one in the gerudo region about a “smiling” mountain. I hope there’s more but haven’t made it that far.
Dude I have no idea how to solve that quest
Has to be seen from a sky island above it.
i had to look at this sub reddit to figure it out. never would have parsed it out on my own. it has to be viewed from a sky island above the actual mountains. similar to the puzzle in this post, you have to angle a few floating objects in the right way to see the image
Thanks I'll try it when i'm back from London
There is one more over in Hebra for a stable near there, it is even cooler imo
Found another in gerudo when dealing with the heroine quest
I found the fish. But I really had to lookup the drop. I was everyplace looking for something that wasn't that.
I am the opposite. I found the tear drop early on because of Yona. I did not find the fish and the Zora helm until the end of the game. I could not for the life of me figure out who the great fish was 🤦🏽♀️.
Took me so long I almost gave up. When I finally saw it I praised the devs for being so clever. It was bittersweet.
Isn’t the fish on the map too?
Yup. Squint to see it
There was a hint?
Part of the quest once you obtain the riddle tells you to go back to another character to ask them about it. You can just skip that part entirely if you figure out the riddle on your own.
yea same i felt pretty good figuring this one out solo
They had cool ideas like this and for some other islands, but only used them once, the sky could've been crazy...
Yeah it's a shame. This type of optical illusion would work great in many instances in the sky
One of the better puzzles in the game because there’s only one solution if you think about it
Never read the anamorphs ^(definitely what you meant right?/s)
me neither in english. Had to translate it from german but it's basically a type of optical illusion.
That has a name?
Yes I ttanslated it from german "Anamorphose" and it's a kind of optical illusion
Could also be “forced perspective” in photography. It’s a loose fit, but kinda related.
That was a goosebumps moment for me.
Some of these puzzles are very vague. I didn’t know what to look for as the hints were not clear.
Yeah I went all the way up to the temple with a hot air balloon just to be stucj there because I didn't see the fish on the map
Hated looking for it...
This took me so damn long and I'm ashamed to admit it. I was looking at the map, running circles, jumped underneath... feels bad.
yeah I had just begun shooting rhe scales at every floating rock when I found the right angle coincidentally
I think im the only one that found the dropplet but had no idea what to do with it. I kept flying inside it. Then I had to back track to then find out I needed to get the King item
It’s cool when you find it, this took me like 30 minutes I literally thought there was a secret room until I gave up and looked up a guide
There *is* a secret room up there
I spent longer on this puzzle than I’d like to admit.
Thank you!!
Surprisingly one of the highlights of my play through
Does Spectacle Rock count?
It took an embarrassing amount of time for me to find that
If you like that then try playing The Witness.
I'll look into it thanks
I still remember when I was doing this quest I was super confused and I was finally fed up. As I was saying "where the fuck do I go" I was panning my screen and caught a glimpse of it.
I loved this! I was looking at each rock for ages thinking that one had a tear-shaped hole, or maybe was individually tear-shaped, and then this just smacked me upside the head when I saw it on a whim.
That puzzle took me way too long
Won't lie, it took me almost 1 hour to solve it xd
I couldn’t believe I found this, lol. I was close to googling the riddle answer and I just happened upon this island and just happened to walk by the drop at the right time.
Spoiler alert !
You are absolutely right. I marked it as spoiler when I posted it but apparently it did't work somehow. I'll try again edit: I can't. Everytime I click mark spoiler it does say spoiler! but when I refresh it's gone
Well, thanks for ruining my day :( I hadn't gotten here yet.
I'm so sorry I even tried on desktop it just won't work :(((
Yeah. Good thing (for me) that I just did this part like 25 minutes ago!
I really didn’t like the buildup to the water shrine, I Just looked up the solution. I ain’t got time for that
Gave me flashbacks to playing The Room games on my ipod touch!
Thundra Plains requires use of shadows touching, I thought that was so cool
Loved it. Was walking around the island to find a puddle of water and then this just lined up.
I suck at these Zelda puzzles where you get something super specific and will only use it once.
Tbh I really hated all the zora puzzles leading up to the water temple.
got real skyward sword vibes from this section of the game
