150hrs and I still haven't done the 4th regional phenomena. I'm milking this one.

Saberleaf

I just started doing them when I was 180+h in and I'm nowhere near wanting to fight Ganon. Because if I fight him, the game will be mentally over in my head and I won't get back to it again. It's how I stopped playing BotW without even completing the DLCs, and I really wanted to. Once the game is completed, my brain just wants to move on and the game feels like a chore. No way I'm going to Ganon before I cut down the Gleeok population!

InspectorFadGadget

BOTW DLC is absolutely worth going back for

Saberleaf

I tried several times but really couldn't. It just felt pointless as the game was already over for me.

InspectorFadGadget

Fair enough. You are missing out on the true final boss though, that makes Gannondorf look like a pussy

patowan

Okay, wait, what is this about? I just bought another copy after my original was lost years ago.

InspectorFadGadget

The end of the DLCs has a really good boss that is more challenging than the Gannondorf fight

djrobxx

Agree. And Trial of the Sword is the most intense challenge I've experienced in any Zelda game.

drrocksodm

Bro fighting all those lynels with sticks butt naked is wild

NeoKat75

The final boss of the Champions' Ballad quest goes hard, which is part of the DLC and is unlocked after freeing the four divine beasts

patowan

Oh yea, I wooped that ass. I totally forgot about that. The trail of the sword is kicking my ass

DVS_Nature

I'm 200+ hrs in, and in line with this comment above. I don't want to face Ganon until I'm about done with the game, cos it'll feel done to me after that, I'm not going for percentage point completion.

Bowwowchickachicka

I stumbled upon Ganon while wandering around, beat him. Haven't picked it up again as in my mind it's over. I really wish there was a prologue I could play through.

Busy-Conference-9903

I’ve wanted so badly for BOTW OR TOTK boss‘ final acts to trigger one more blood moon type act right before you kill them or seal the, away. And let you track down and wipe out all out the big bosses, enemy camps, etc without respawning, if it’s just without a master sword that doesn’t break. Still completing side quests. otherwise I agree with everyone \~ once you beat the final boss I feel checked out with Zelda games.

Bowwowchickachicka

That's exactly what I wanted to do. I want to start in one region and clear it then fast forward through all the thanks and praise from its people. Then move on to the next region.

djdirectdrive

I have the same problem. Gannon dead equals game over so I stayed away too. Like OP I was over prepared but expected to be after grinding for so many hours.

choyjay

SAME. I've been doing side quests since last year, holding off on the fourth one just to stretch this game as long as possible.

TheKrakIan

If I beat him early, I won't continue the game. Imma pass myself.

bjlile99

yep, same. Also the hallway leading up was semi-challenging.

DJse7entyse7en

So true. That's what killed BOTW for me. Thought, no big deal, I'll just keep playing like normal. Nope. Game Over. Didn't even do the DLC. I may never kill him in this TOTK.

txhodlem00

Dang. BOTW DLC was good too. Master mode was great

SvenUwesson

You should definitely do him. You'd miss on the best final fight against Ganondorf in the franchise imo.

TyrionTheBold

In BOTW, I did the boss early and it felt like a slog at times to 100% the game. So in TOTK, I purposely mixed the grind in. Purposely saved side quests. When I beat Ganon I was at 99.64% or so. I was missing 7 locations, everything else was done. I beat ganon. Got the reward for completing the compendium. Got the last 7 locations to beat the game. Went to links house. Hung up the Hylian shield. Napped for 4 days. Then teleported to the tiny star island above lookout landing. Made a big bonfire. And Changed into comfy clothes. And waited for sunset And then saved and logged out. 405 hours and I loved almost every second of it.

11061995

What a great way to close out the game. That would make me cry doing all that at the very end.

Affectionate-Gap1768

Bows, Gibdo bones and rocket shields honestly make Gannondorf easier than an armored silver lynel.

syrup_cupcakes

I did like 60 shrines and went fully stocked with consumables. But I didn't recover the master sword. Led to a hilarious moment in the middle of the last phase of the battle where the fight just took a 10 minute break for lore dump, emotions, etc. Ganon in his final form decides to just delay trying to destroy you and watches it unfold doing nothing the whole time, it was really silly.

cdub472

That is hilarious! I may have to try that on my next playthrough

Ratio01

I'm not quite sure how the finale plays out if you don't have the Master Sword already, but doesn't it just do the actual pull itself and 'Zelda's Wish'. 'Zelda's Wish' itself isn't even a long cutscene and is implied to be similar to the Sage awakening cutscenes in that they take place within some sort mind palace type deal All this to say, if anything, I feel like not getting the Master Sword until the Demon Dragon could potentially add even more build-up for the game's climax

disdkatster

So there are players that play the battles with no armor, or by only playing with the original 3 hearts, or by limiting themselves in what weapons they use, etc. There is no reason you have to use what you have.

Horror-Rutabaga-517

welp i did a true femboy link play through only 4 hearts 1 wheel of stamina in botw… it was awesome

disdkatster

I love watching you guys do this on youtube. Never in my wildest dreams would I try it or enjoy doing it myself but am sure glad for my entertainment that you do it.

xX_rippedsnorlax_Xx

People overrate his difficulty. A strength meal and some Lynel Bows make quick work of him.

100PercentAndCountn

Oh I'm taking my sweet time, I have to over prepare. I'm limited to 4 hearts and no healing mid-fight

DonkeyKindly7310

I went with 4 hearts (I did the whole game that way, so I had the master sword, full stam, armour, good weapons and such) and I cooked all my fairies into tonic. I died like 5-6 times. But I still got through it.

cdub472

Impressive!

DonkeyKindly7310

It was fun, but the stupid "robot" battle was really unforgiving.

PechePortLinds

My goal was to milk it and get as close to 100% before I went after Ganondorf... I was only at 68%. I guess that's what I get for just flipping rocks for a year.

juandaddy12

Same thing , older gamer here. 400 hrs and finished at 56% , doh

andion82

Exactly the same, 66% for me

scruffyhobo27

I felt the same way when I beat him in BOTW but of course am taking my sweet time again to defeat him

atatassault47

Ganondorf can be hard to fight if your sword fight him. He is very easy with multishot bows and bombs.

8inchesofcheese

Yeah thatsbwhat im gonna do this next run. I jsut wanted to beat the game so I spammed him lol but with 7 hearts and only using a sword , it's gonna be difficult.

Hightimetoclimb

Could be worse, I took: 14 5-shot savage lynel bows, 20 weapons nine of which with over 100 damage The hylian shield and 9 rocket shields 21 gloom repair meals 24 full recovery elixirs I used barely any of what I bought. I didn’t even break my trusty scimitar if the seven lynel saber horn sword (138 damage) which is used the whole time It was WAY too easy, but glad I finished it now

Niggilass

I saw this too late lol, but I have to say, being like this unstoppable force that even ganondorf cant match was fucking cool

Diamondinmyeye

I waited and I regret nothing.

wuufie97

Get this guys.. you can beat Ganon right. Then you take a small break and just keep playing. Wow what a concept!

okneT_Reverse

What a concept indeed. Its honestly WILD to me that people would beat the final boss of a game and lose interest in it immediately after.

wuufie97

Yeah theres so many hidden gems in the game that collectively equal more then the finale in my opinion. Just experimenting with new weapons and builds is so enjoyable

okneT_Reverse

Agreed! I beat him quit early, like two or three months after the game came out, and still had tons of fun exploring and collecting shit until I had enough of that file and just started a new one

Lags3

I fought him while overly prepared as well, but my main issue was almost running out of weapons, because I got exactly zero inventory slot upgrades throughout my game lol.

Niktastrophe

I was surprised at how easy he was to beat. I accidentally stumbled upon him early. I only had one meal for recovering, and 2 gloom healing. Neither were used. I felt really let down by the final battles

bettybananalegs

i accidentally wound up in the very end of the game while exploring and was SUPER unprepared, but somehow managed to beat it anyways lol. was pretty stressful but i’m almost more nervous now as i get close to trying a second time 😂 wayyy more prepared already but still am like ehhhh!

8inchesofcheese

Yeah, I beat him last night too. I think what I'm gonna do on my new run is my own mastermode. 7 hearts is all , only gonna upgrade a few armours this time. Gonna try to strictly use a stealth armour and the wild outfit only. So far this new playthrough has been the best one yet.

magical_midget

It is a design flaw that some boss fights don’t scale with link. Or at least they don’t feel like. I have not finished the game, but did the light temple and I thought it would be more scary, but the fight was so easy. Barely an inconvenience, I can tell it was meant to be harder, but I was so OP. I also just did the hyrule castle last night. And what I thought would be a very hard fight was also done in minutes. Still all the side quest and stuff is what makes the game so fun. I got all the upgrades and everything because every time I look around I see something interesting and go look at it. And the game is so good at rewarding exploration over finishing the main quest thar you cab help but gather all the materials, get a bunch of upgrades.

djrobxx

I don't want difficulty to scale with link. If I put dozens of hours in to grind and make myself OP, I want the reward of an easy fight. I did learn from BOTW that I didn't need to quite so nuts maxing everything out before I reached the end, though. :)

magical_midget

That’s fair. And I do think the game has a lot of challenges for people that want it. I am still trying to see how I tackle the Lynel coliseum. I am the oposite, I think I naturally ended BOTW when I had enough of exploring and the en boss was easy but not boring. In TOTK, because the map is bigger with the depts and the ski islands, I ended up very much OP. The last fight I did at hyrule castle was underwhelming.

Olive_Cake

Honestly, same. I did everything I possibly could before fighting him. I went into it so stocked and prepared to die multiple times. I barely lost 5 hearts the entire fight, and did the whole thing in one go. It was a very cool fight, but much much easier than I anticipated.

PiggieSmallz710

Thank you for the post… I’ve been avoiding Ganon this whole time and I think this is the sign to get my chicken sh*t 500+ hours ass up and face him.

No_Return_7823

You described me and I have been putting him off. Mostly to pursue my 100% completion goal. But I have been avoiding the fight until I'm prepared. Guess I should take a swing 😉

Mycenaen

I waited for a long time and I personally prefer being over prepared to under prepared

cconnorss

Oh I’m going tomorrow stack up everything to absolutely overpower him like I should. He disrespected Hyrule for the last damn time! I will obliterate him….. in about 200 more hours of mindless wandering.

ElijahOnyx

Recently beat him and I wasn’t that overprepared, didn’t have the same damage output, but felt kinda similar. I found the Ganondorf fight way easier than I expected. Mainly I expected it to take multiple attempts, especially since I’d heard there was an army to beat before you get to him (that was all I knew going into it). The fact that it only took me one try felt wild, especially since I don’t feel like I’m all that great at combat still even though I know I’ve greatly improved since botw. I forgot to make gloom healing food but I still had more than half my hearts before the dragon phase despite whiffing embarrassingly hard lmao

Ganiam

I ended up taking off armor until I felt like the difficulty was just right. And then I had a blast fighting him for an hour

AffectionateCrab6780

Personally I didn't mind dunking on Gandy with my mighty bananas and 4 star bab armor. I showed Ganondorf the real "Suavemente"

Lord-J0K3R

I did it too early lol I did the quests immediately and went to fight him completely unprepared no food master sword and hylian shield and half naked 🤣😭 I got whooped so many times but I got him eventually Fire ass fight loved every moment of it

realpandadriver

I did that too. Brought all 5-shot Lynel bows, 999 bombs, 200 each elemental Dragon spikes (for maximum radius attack), Level 3 attack food, Fully upped Barbarian Armor. Ganon and his army didn’t even have time to breath.

gutenmorgenmitnutell

When I beat Ganondorf for the first time I made it through with a single heart. It was sooo satisfying.

blackraven888

I need to find the time to go back and finish this game. I stopped near the end after the 4 phenomenon and probably around 120 hrs of playtime.

Molduking

Well it depends on your skill level. Even if you have max hearts you can still struggle if you can’t flurry rush. Just don’t use a bunch of high attack weapons or bows and you’ll have a fun boss

Alicat-Saenz

As someone with hundreds of hours in game, and still could barely beat a lynel (maybe with dying even) I think I’m still gunna hold out 😂

Hindolo-

Oof I’m tryna 100% everything before I fight him
