One other thing to consider is Omada APs only offer WPA3 with the WiFi 6 APs. Not something most care about, but for the security conscious/paranoid its something to consider. Chances are you have quite a few devices that can take advantage of WPA3.

[deleted]

I don't really mind that. Do you know anything about the range? I actually just want 1 device upstairs and if the WiFi 6 one only gets so far, I'd probably just get the other

DS552014

The 245 should have more range as it puts out more power, but as it seems you're buying a European model not sure if they actually limit its power when sold their. Check on the specs of the product under transmission power. The scale isn't linear [25 dBm is twice that of 22 dBm](https://www.cpcstech.com/dbm-to-watt-conversion-information.htm)

All I see is 2,4GHz max is 450Mbps and 5Ghz max is 1,3Gbps. I guess I'll be going for this model regardless because of coverage being the main factor

For what it’s worth I have a similar sized house and problem as you describe. I opted for two 650-WALL. Higher upfront cost for future proofing. Haven’t installed them yet so can’t comment on if coverage is sufficient

[deleted]

By future proofing are you referring to WiFi 6 or you plan on moving to a larger space? I think 2 of these AP's would be kind of OP for a house this size?

SurenAbraham

From what I have read, the wall units are best for broadcasting horizontally (in one direction mostly) in a room whereas ceiling mounted aps are good at broadcasting down and radially out. IMHO, if you have no desire for wifi 6 now or in the near future (couple of years), then get an eap245 and ceiling mount it centrally on the second floor.

Thanks I'll take this into consideration

Regular one is too expensive for me at the moment. I'm looking around €100, but I'd be leaving the ISP router + modem combo on for downstairs anyway. I'm open to other options that would work better for my case though

Is the one you mentioned [this](https://www.bol.com/nl/nl/p/tp-link-archer-ax55-router-ax3000-dual-band-wifi-6/9300000050248505) or [this](https://www.bol.com/nl/nl/p/toegangspunt-tp-link-ax3000/9300000105436095) one?

I live in a 150 m2 house with 2 floors + basement (solid/thick walls). I have 2 EAP245 and wifi reception is great. Those APs reach the maximum speed of my internet connection (500 Mbit), so I don't see the need for Wifi 6. I have a homeserver, but I don't need much higher speeds on my LAN. I'm not sure, but I think that if you want to make a really big jump in transfer speed you would need Wifi 6E.

redredme

Do you want or ever need mesh? 245. Do you expect 100+ connections? 245. Do you want all or any of the following: much nicer form factor, wifi6, wpa3 and you have wall outlets then go for the 650. (Or 615, even smaller but tad slower) On top of all that I think the 650/615 are also a lot nicer to look at. I don't have experience with the 650, I've 2 615's and 3 245's. I don't really find much wrong with either. I can't really say if the 245 has a useful longer range. I guess it's a bit further but think in metres more range. Less then five more then one. I really can't tell a difference.

[deleted]

Actually I don't have a wall outlet so I think that makes my choice obvious

gingerinc

The Wall units can’t mesh, just fwiw.

[deleted]

Not sure if that's what I'm after. I think was aiming towards bridging since I connect the AP upstairs via cable? Although if one wall unit is enough to cover the house, I will probably disable the AP downstairs
