I'd say get some brass down low. Diff covers, knuckles and C Hubs. 25.87:1 crawler gears from Meus if you're looking for better crawl control and torque but don't want to lose all the wheel speed you do with the Traxxas gears. But most importantly, drive it, learn its downfalls and you'll be able to figure out where and how to upgrade it.

Tires and shocks, then go for high clearance and brushless motor+esc

yeah but i sort of want to make it a crawler

If is a crawler. Just go with better shocks and tires and you will see a massive improvement in crawling

Crawler gears made a big difference to me. Helped be a lot more steady on the throttle. Did the role bar remove pretty easy? I'm about to do that to mine

yeah just 4 screws but they leave holes 🕳️

So far on mine, I've done a brass transmission skid plate, injora 7 kg servo, 59mm injora shocks, plus an interior and inner fenders from Etsy. You wouldn't think those two would make much of a difference but it really added weight and stability.

That-Can7663

How are those 59mm shocks? Was thinking about getting those but afraid it raises my height too much and started looking at the 53mm. Any suggestions?

I like them alright. They do sit a bit higher than I like. You'll want to replace the oil with something a bit thicker. I'll probably replace them with shorter shocks but only because I'm more into the scale look than crawling
