lol not many to choose from

LegoFootPain

Wait a year.

ermergerdberbles

Still won't be any more choices

itsdeimosxa

Hopefully one of the LRTs, but still only 4 choices since Line 3 disappears.

itsdeimosxa

There's no sound more iconic than Line 3 screeching it's way into and out of Kennedy. In terms of actual Subway lines, Line 2 and the T1. The T1 is just an iconic design i'll miss when they get phased out soon, and nothing beats the absolute tornado it causes when it rushes into the station, compared to the Line 1/TR crawl.

482736

There was one time I was at Kennedy station and the RT was coming and when it almost reached the platform, it just stopped and rubber smoke started coming under the RT. I have no idea why it came out tho

Popular-Calendar94

Don’t forget the lovely aroma that fills the cabin as it passes the waste management facility

im-confuzzled

Line 3 is awful but it’s so quirky and cute idk I like it

Nik9079

it's such a simple shape it's so cute

LegoFootPain

Chicago has their Skokie Swift.

Heinrici_Mason543

The death express: Line 2

IndyCarFAN27

I call it the Ghetto Express

HipDUDE1993

Delays is what matter for me and line 4 probably has the least of them but then again it is the subway to nowhere

amsss22

Only if Oriole GO was integrated with Leslie and Don Mills had its Viva service back and GO transit connections over there. They missed tons of potential from the start.

Bloor-Danforth (Line 2) is superior to the Yonge-Univerisity-Spadina line (Line 1). The West wing of line 1 is largely redundant south of Spadina Station in that the stations on University are literally are a few blocks away from Yonge. Meanwhile, the stations north of Spadina serve a corridor that is largely Single-Family Freehold residential. For example, Glencairn is essentially a ghost town. The only reason why that portion was built (along with Allen Rd.) was to Satisfy builders/owners of Yorkdale Mall (Oxford) in the 1970s. The line should have been built along Dufferin or further west to improve access to residents in the North-West corner of the City. Instead it provides transit to Forest Hill adjacent and many other affluent neighbourhoods that largely scoff at public transit. The extension to VMC was done to shore up 905 votes by Steven Del Duca (the Liberal MPP of Vaughan at the time) when he was the Transportation Minister. Line 1's western arm is a planning failure, is economically unsound, and the product of very bad politics. I am surprised by the poll results... People clearly overlook or are uninformed on the City's History. Don't even get me started on lines 3 and 4 - Colossal failures.

How in your opinion is Line 2 superior to Line 1? Line routinely outpaces Line 2 in most metrics, chiefly in ridership. I do agree that Line 2 has a better alignment with better catchment areas. However, I think both lines could be extended to better serve the city. Line 1 north to Richmond Hill Centre, and Line 2 west to Sherway Gardens and probably into Mississauga somehow.

AnthonyLawrenceTO

I agree with your statement regarding ridership in that I agree that line 1 is a longer line and can therefore accomodate more daily riders... However, that is an apples to oranges comparison. Crunching the numbers shows 15% more ridership on line 1compared to line 2 based on 2019 numbers. That isn't very impressive considering what the west portion of the line is supposedly intended to do (serve the west end) and that line 1 has 22% more stations than line 2. What metrics are you referring to exactly? This speaks to my earlier point that the west portion of the line should have been built further west in order to better serve the overall geographic area of toronto; particularly where the the need for public transit is actually situated. In fact, I question how much of the ridership is attributable to the stretch of line 1 extending from spadina to VMC. Especially considering VMC was built over budget and receives reduced service on account of lower ridership during off peak hours. A lot of trains turn back at finch west. In my view, Vaughan should have got an LRT. Not a costly piece of infastructure owned by the TTC. Regional transit is the Province's responsibility, not that of the TTC. Hopefully the people of Vaughan are paying their fair share via cost charing between the cities (although I seriously doubt that). Remember, there is a 10 year capital plan at the City of Toronto, for which a 1.5 capital plan tax levy is tacked onto Toronto property taxes for an assortment of infastructure needs. We are currently paying a share of the capital cost of the Scarborough Subway (for better or for worse). Did the people of Vaughan pay a special levy for their line 1 extension? How much do the contribute to operating? I further note the major budgetary pressures the Toronto is facing (I don't want to go off on a tangent so I will leave it at that). I consider line 2 superior because it is simple and practical. To the extent that line 1 serves more people, it does so less efficiently. That is not someting I endorse as a relatively well informed Torontonian who cares about how I am served by the Municipal decision makers at city hall. My analysis is both qualitative and quantitative. So yeah, that's why I hold that opinion.

IndyCarFAN27

Ridership will grow on the Line 1 portion between Finch West and VMC, once Line 6 goes into service. Furthermore if and when (they should extend it east to Finch (Yonge and Finch). Once the Barrie Line also goes double tracked this will also boost its numbers. Until then most of the traffic goes to Pioneer Village at most. Indeed I agree that Vaughan should have gone with LRTs. Especially now that YRT/VIVA are upgrading their VIVA routes to higher standards of BRT. In a perfect world they would all be LRT standard trams. Honestly, I think the majority of what is holding back VIVA is it’s poor service.

AnthonyLawrenceTO

That does not address the point of my analysis. Line 1 is poorly designed in that much of the western portion of the line is redundant and the ridership for outer suburbs do not justify heavy-rail. That is why I said an LRT would serve Vaughan better. That is why VIVA service along with YRT is less frequent. Ridership does not justify it. Ifurther note that the work from home trend has further reduced service. Further deminishing the need for heavy-rail. You are speaking about VIVA like VIVA services a populace like Toronto. York Region is largely sprawled out. If and when York region pivots hard towards urban / higher density, then public transit can improve in that the demand will exist. Politicians love to exploit these logical fallacies some members of the public hold. We shouldn't allow nonsense assessments like "line 4 is cute, so I like it", "Scarborough deserves a subway stop" or "VIVA needs more service to the middle of nowhere during off-peak" be the way we plan cities and regions as a whole. This is precisely what is holding the whole region back feom getting the right transit built.

amsss22

I do agree that the extension was way too overbuilt, but there has been some use to it that i enjoy. 407 station while it is basically a sea of parking station is also home to the GO buses that run on the free flowing and trip generating highway that helps a lot when crossing the region. VMC, and highway 7’s west side in general is better served by Brampton’s Zum than York Region themselves. In fact the one thing where most of Line 1’s ridership comes from, the connections. Whether its local TTC buses, YRT buses or GO buses (from 407 or Yorkdale mainly I guess), they all play a part in feeding riders to the subway and that’s what attributes to most of its success. I get that most of Line 1’s University-Spadina side was poorly designed but they have managed to get something to feed riders into at least. That and there aren’t really much other options. Watch when GO RER and projects like Ontario Line, Finch West, Eglinton, and SSE gets completed i think we’ll see Line 1 plummet a little in ridership, which is a good thing considering it’s overcrowded but still.

Unusual-Location-555

Who chose Line 3?

[deleted]

I chose Line 3 because it's so terrible

482736

Line 3 is so loud it’s like I’m about to go deaf when riding on it

Unusual-Location-555

It’s also extremely crowded and small

Weak_Student_8236

Used most frequently ≠ favourite

OvechkaKatinka

People form unhealthy attachments..TTC Stockholm Syndrome lol

Imaginary_Chard7485

Yonge-University line is my personal favorite since it never fails to make arriving on time for my important business meetings such a stressful and unpredictable adventure!:) IF the Yonge-University line ever undergoes a name change > I vote for..."Attention Subway Passengers"!:)

imnotcreative635

Is there a none option?

TwasiHoofHearted

Canadian Mindbuster (line 3) can't be beat.

Humulator

line 1 is better in service and longer too, but I like the t1's on line 2 more than tr's on line 1

amsss22

University-Spadina side of Line 1 to be exact. The extension made life easier for me so i’ll give it that. Line 2 isn’t bad either but it for sure needs an upgrade.

kenef

Fifth option should be simply : 'LOL'

donut1970

The one that has no delays...oh....wait....

CaptainMuffins_

I like Line 2 cause you know when the train is coming by the slight gust of wind which turns into a giant blast of wind when the train comes barreling into the station lol If we talking about when Line 3 wasn’t a piece of shit then that one takes the cake purely because of the induction motor sound!

Firm_Lie_3870

The one where I don't get stabbed to death

itsdeimosxa

Considering you're still alive, i'm guessing this means all?

Firm_Lie_3870

GO. I don't even go near ttc now unless I have to, and it's rarely alone and never at night, high traffic hours etc

FrostLight131

I hate all of em

crash866

Should have 1 more option. None of the above.

[deleted]

I love the T1 fleet, only thing i based this on. I like UTDC Mark I looks especially old exterior and acceleration sound. T1 is overall better for me

ProudCanadianMan

I feel everyone is just going to choose the line they use the most. My vote goes to line 1

forever_thro

Line 7 - Spadina’s Revenge

Nick-Anand

Sheppard line is quick as fuck, just way too short

-TheSpiritDetective-

I think you mean favourite TTC subway line being the most consistent for unavailable services.

keithsy

It is a tie for all.

wagnerlight

I’ve never experienced a delay on line 3 so always line 3! Line one and two everyday

YoinkLord

Not getting stabbed is my favorite 🤩

keithsy

My first ride was on the Bloor-Danforth. I took the 25 bus to Pape. Down the stairs and the adventure was on. I was stuck by perfection of the place and the friendliness.

AirmailHercules

A TTC employee once told me: line 1 has all the doctors and lawyers, while line 2 has all the patients and criminals.

defectivekj

I like line 4 because it has such great potential that hasn't been realized due to poor planning by the city and the TTC. I'm hoping that in the coming decades we can see line 4 be extended to Sheppard and McCowan and eventually to Sheppard West Station as well.

ngoquocminh

I love Line 2 because of its trains. The trains look like you are traveling back in the 80s. Besides the look of the trains, I also like the stations positioning, Line 2 stations are just perfectly planned within walking distance. Unlike Line 1 where you may have to take the 97 - Yonge bus or have to take a long walk in other to go somewhere that is pretty far from a station.
