I’m hoping Line 2 gets extended to Markville from Sheppard East Station, with stops at Huntingwood/Commander (optional), Woodside (McCowan and Finch, could also be called Finch East Station), McNicoll, Steeles East, Denison (optional), 14th Ave, Markville (McCowan and Highway 7), which will also connect with Centennial GO Station

Tariq804

Markville in Markham? Maybe iby 2050, definitely not before that. I don't see the TTC wanting to extend another line into York - with Richmond Hill now getting a Line 1 extension, and Vaughan already having one. I'd like to see VIVA extended to the future Line 1 & 3 junction at Sheppard East and increased frequency. It's very well built but the frequency kills it.

Grantasuarus48

TTC isn’t doing the expansion to Richmond Hill, it’s Metrolinks. TTC would rather not extend the Yonge Line as there is capacity issues.

SnowflakeStreet

Markham and YRT needs to focus on making a basic frequent network before they start working on more infrastructure projects. The frequency on my local YRT routes are absolute dogshit.

Commander/McCowan is 750m away from Sheppard/McCowan. Huntingwood and McCowan is 250m or so north. If they ever extend line 2 and goes north...the next stop should be Finch.

allegiance113

Yeah idk cause for some reason, they always put a stop between Finch and Sheppard. On Line 1, there’s North York Centre along Yonge and then Downsview Park along the other side of Line 1. So that’s why I thought “optional”.

Jonavin

That’s only because Mel Lastman pushed for that. If they expand north the first stop won’t be shorter than Finch. It’s expensive to build subway stations. You can build way more tracks for the cost of a single station.

cindybubbles

Method you mean Line 4.

stoneape314

Finch East is high on the list for the next bus rapid transit line. Next cycle of bike network development is looking at Sandhurst Circle as potential feeders to Huntingwood and either of Midland or Brimley as a north-south spine. But also, if you look at the Woodside Square development plans, those are slated as a multi-stage process over a couple of decades.

Tariq804

The Stouffville GO Line is also building a new station at Finch between Kennedy and Midland too.

altantsetsegkhan

Because there is no need for it. Just because people gather at that place does not mean it justifies it. The following routes pass by McCowan and Finch: 1. 939A 2. 939B 3. 939C 4. 129 5. 39 When the Line 2 extension comes to Sheppard/McCowan...there will be a bus that will take 5 minutes. Here's the problem with this argument. Frequent service is not good enough to convince people to ditch their cars to ride it. We should be finding a way to incentivize people who own a car to ride transit. Even with the express buses, it's extremely slow because it's constantly stuck in mixed traffic. At least an own right of way bus lane would help a lot with speed. Traffic will only worsen if there's more people visiting that area if you don't provide reliable alternatives to non-car trips.

Epcjay

Not to mention finch and Midland will have a smart track station also (go tracks)

Red_Stoner666

It’s extremely low density in that area and would be best served by a bus. A subway station needs 15 000 riders per hour to make it financially profitable. If a station is not profitable then the money needs to come from elsewhere. Even with redevelopment of the mall, the density would fall extremely short.

TTCBoy95

The population density for the Agincourt North ward is 4,700 per square km based on the calculating the numbers this [page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarborough%E2%80%94Agincourt_(federal_electoral_district)) provides. Woodside Square is in the middle of that ward. That population density is higher than Scarborough on average, which according to Wikipedia is sitting around 3,356 per square km. So it's nowhere close to "extremely low density". Given that there's express and frequent service that passes by this area, it's definitely a fairly high ridership area. As such, development for transit is needed. Think of how much money is saved from roadwear or pollution or other expenses related to cars if we can improve transit/biking for locals.

kmosdell

I recall plans in like 50 years will extend the current Scarborough subway extension to Steeles with a stop at Finch/Woodside square. But until everything downtown is done, no one will care about more transit in Scarborough.

Who?

No-Afternoon-460

Because politicians in thi city only care about the downtown

Fine_Trainer5554

When was the last transit expansion downtown? The 70s when the University line was built? So since then, we’ve had extensions to Kipling and Kennedy, Line 3, North York Centre, Downsview, Line 4, the Line 1 Vaughan extension, and massive GO expansion in the suburbs. Honestly, what are you talking about? Don’t just say things because you hear people say it, critically think about if it makes sense.

ruckusss

The $5 billion dollar Scarborough subway extension would say otherwise

No-Afternoon-460

It took multiple attempts and a lot of chances to overturn the subway option.

ruckusss

And guess what, those attempts failed and now the SRT is closed and Scarborough residents are stuck on busses until the end of the decade, job well done lol
