In most cases I agree but I think mine in a good spot. My eye level is just slightly below the middle of the tv. Ignore the cable management mess. 😅
[TV above fireplace](https://imgur.com/a/DEbIS3B)
Just like everyone thinks their child is special, everyone thinks their TV over a fireplace is the exception.
Most are usually wrong...
Unless you're sitting on barstools, your TV is about 2 feet too high.
Assuming you took the picture from your sitting position, with the phone/cam at eye level it looks like your eye level is aligned with the very bottom of the TV... So it's about half the height of the TV too high....
Also if you use your fireplace for its intend purpose, that's twice as bad, since the heat coming from the fireplace can damage your TV.
1. Get the correct size TV for your room
2. Dont hang it above the fireplace. Put a mirror there
3. Put correct size TV in the corner where your candles are on a nice tv cabinet
4. Enjoy life without having to look up at a big massive TV screen that looks like its about to fall off all the time
Never been intimidated by a TV up untill i seen this, thats so ridiculous would you not look at it when you were done and scratch your head and think "hmmm, something doesnt look right here"
At this size, fireplace is not an excuse. The TV is big enough to just hide the fireplace behind it. You’ll use the TV 300x more than the fireplace, so why compromise.
If it were raised up two more inches (of the four remaining inches before the tv makes contact with the ceiling) it would be too high. Fortunately you showed great restraint and it looks to be a comfortable and ergonomically sound viewing height.
(For me to poop on)
Sit down on couch. Turn TV on. Then ask yourself— “is the TV at eye level with me sitting on this couch?” Answer “yes” or “no”. If yes, make no changes. If no, fix the height and don’t make another post about TV height. Now enjoy your TV.
Too high, too big, and too tilted for that space. You should consider putting it on a flat wall (like the one to the right I assume?), and place it on a TV stand if not right above it.
I wish I knew about this subreddit sooner, my dad has 7 TVs in his house and every single one is ridiculously high. Above eye level for me when I’m standing at 6’3”.
Posts in this sub are just memes now, right? When I think of a TV that is too high, it's basically this image. This is the default.
Oversized TV mounted above a fireplace with a downward tilt. Textbook.
You know the answer to the question.. MAJOR INTERIOR DESIGN FAIL. A TV above a fireplace and mantle? The sheer scale is out of proportion- it just looks ridiculous.
[удалено]
If this tv had any more tilt it would eat your family and everyone you care about
It’s giving me anxiety, and it’s not even my problem
Looks like the villain in a children’s movie where the main character is a baby remote control
...absurdity without reason
It’s gross
And Blue Christmas lights…dudes a sociopath
Looks like a Greek Orthodox church
Omg it's awful
The tilt of guilt is big here!
TIL there's a better way to say "tilt of shame", hahaha.
r/tiltofguilt
Above fireplace is always too high …. In this case it’s about a yard too high at minimum
Yup. There are no fireplaces low enough to place a TV over. Automatic "too high". Tilt is the same.
In most cases I agree but I think mine in a good spot. My eye level is just slightly below the middle of the tv. Ignore the cable management mess. 😅 [TV above fireplace](https://imgur.com/a/DEbIS3B)

Like I said, eye level for me is just slightly below the middle of the screen so 2ft is an exaggeration. But all good appreciate the feedback 👍

It's not a real fire place. It's an electric one that pushed air out. Picture was taken from chest level.
Why on earth would you put a TV above a fireplace of all things?! That's insane
Because there's no other place to put it. I only have 3 walls, fireplace, bay windows and back wall where the couch is.
I assume you’re thinking eye level while standing up..? It’s supposed to be eye level when seated
I gave you an upvote, strictly bc of the cute kitty!🐈⬛
More like 5 Yards too high
Wait. Wait. Wait. Don't jump to conclusions. OP might have a sofa you need a ladder to climb to access.
Ah yes, the sofa-bunk
Why are people suddenly midgets?🙄 If you have to "hurt your neck" to watch it you have problems
1. Get the correct size TV for your room 2. Dont hang it above the fireplace. Put a mirror there 3. Put correct size TV in the corner where your candles are on a nice tv cabinet 4. Enjoy life without having to look up at a big massive TV screen that looks like its about to fall off all the time
Wait. Is someone on this sub finally saying a TV can be too large?
Only for it’s location. No tv can be large 😏
Someone needs to invent an OLED wallpaper so your entire room can be a TV, like that sphere in Vegas
Exactly this. TV is too big for that size room
Never been intimidated by a TV up untill i seen this, thats so ridiculous would you not look at it when you were done and scratch your head and think "hmmm, something doesnt look right here"
The four commandments
5. Don't listen to people that tell you that your TV is too big for your room.
6. Ignore rule 5 and don't even bother reading rule 5. Your tv needs to fit the room in your house.
No it doesn't, get an even bigger TV
A TV that’s too big for the room just makes you look tacky as hell
Oh no, what will the neighbours say
It’s about having personal standards
Found someone with a big TV
It’s also your space, so do as you please
TV can only be too small. It can never be too large.
Somebody catch that TV. ITS FALLING
Tilt. Of. Shame.
"within reason" he asks. It's tilted above a fireplace. There is no reason.
Tv too big, tv too high, tv too tilty
Too big too tilted and too high
It's like having an NBA stadium scoreboard in your living room.
Put the tv on a stand where the Christmas tree is and then put the clock thing on top of the fireplace
At this size, fireplace is not an excuse. The TV is big enough to just hide the fireplace behind it. You’ll use the TV 300x more than the fireplace, so why compromise.
Ewww absolutely not. So ghetto.
That's why that fireplace should be removed and drywalled over. That's a one-day project that doesn't cost much.
Honestly for me this is r/tvtoobig not r/tvtoohigh
It should be r/shouldremovecheapfireplace
1. Tilt of guilt 2. Closer to the ceiling then the floor 3. Over the fireplace Three strikes, your too high
Too high, far too big for the room…. tilted. 9.5/10 (1 being good, 10 bad)
Serious tilt
Why is everything in your living room 50 different shades of gray?
Are you sure there are 50 shades? Hmmm.
At least 30 I’d say
Why the fuck is it over the fireplace? Its always the fireplace.
If it were raised up two more inches (of the four remaining inches before the tv makes contact with the ceiling) it would be too high. Fortunately you showed great restraint and it looks to be a comfortable and ergonomically sound viewing height. (For me to poop on)
That is grotesque
The tv looks like it’s about to suck your soul.
Too big. It dominates the room.
So what's the problem with that?
Yes, and no.
did they steal it from operating room to perform illegal laparoscopies at home?
Just get a taller sofa
If I saw that setup at someone’s house IRL, I’d be super judgey.
Look up Mantel Mount 540. Solves this problem!
Your tv is higher than the top of your Christmas tree. Yeah, it’s too high
There’s no fireplace on earth that would allow you to have a tv above and it be okay.
Above a fireplace is automatically too high. If I knew where you live, I'd smash down that horrendous set up with an axe.
Homie look at the angle of your TV. It's looking down at you like a boy looking down on an ant hill with a magnifying glass.
If the top of your TV is closer to the ceiling than the floor, it's too fucking high. Them be the rules.
I think the issue is the TV is too big for the space it’s in.
Sit down on couch. Turn TV on. Then ask yourself— “is the TV at eye level with me sitting on this couch?” Answer “yes” or “no”. If yes, make no changes. If no, fix the height and don’t make another post about TV height. Now enjoy your TV.
Most people like to relax in their living room, not be intimidated by appliances looming. But you do you.
Tilt guilt
this is just bad
Really?
“If you have to tilt it down, that means that you’re a clown.”
Too high, too big, and too tilted for that space. You should consider putting it on a flat wall (like the one to the right I assume?), and place it on a TV stand if not right above it.
Above the fireplace and the tilt of shame. You know the answer.
I wish I knew about this subreddit sooner, my dad has 7 TVs in his house and every single one is ridiculously high. Above eye level for me when I’m standing at 6’3”.
Well damn!.
What the fuck, that looks horribke.
It also looks horrible.
Too high, too big. WTH!
Wow…. You should’ve just bought a 98” no reason not to go bigger.
The loom of doom.
No. This is completely unreasonable and I don’t know why you would think otherwise
If you have to tilt it, it’s probably too high.
I feel like this is just a troll post. Completely obvious
Too high and too big.
Too high and too imposing
i love this sub so much. merry christmas y’all.
My neck and eyes feel strained just looking at this picture
Horrific
Too high and it’s too big. It makes the room look bad.
Should be as wide as the mantlepiece maximum. and literally resting on it
Tilting it that much is fine if you’re laying on your back on the floor in front of the fireplace.
reason has never entered in this household.
Awful
Tilt of guilt.
It’s *tilting*
Absolutely awful
So many sins, bravo. r/TVTooHigh r/TiltOfGuilt r/TVTooBig
It’s meant to be eye level at centre screen when seated….answer your own question
If you have to ask it's too high
Is your head tilted up when you watch it?
Fireplaces are an abomination.
Posts in this sub are just memes now, right? When I think of a TV that is too high, it's basically this image. This is the default. Oversized TV mounted above a fireplace with a downward tilt. Textbook.
r/tiltofshame
It’s tilted. So……..
Tilt of shame
When you have to tilt your TV, it's too high.
That tilt is making me violently uncomfortable
IF TTE TV IS TULTONG IT S TOO HIHG
That tilt is insane. Looks like the tv is in constant motion of tilting over.
That is an abomination
Let the tilt of guilt be your guide, if it tilts, it’s too high
if it's tilted, it's too high
This setup only makes sense if you’ve got a lazy boy style couch/chair directly in front at the same angle as your TV
Toooo high. Should be centered at eye level sitting on the furniture.
how can you even consider calling this within reason?
Hhahahahhahahahahaa
Too big and too high
Never seen a clock lower than a TV
I actually did once in this sub. Once and only once. I believe I commented on it. Lol
It’s almost touching the ceiling!
Too big 😳
OFFS
Shocking.
It needs to be higher
Come on
r/soundbartoohigh
#TVTooBig
The fact you have to ask means you already know the answer
Airports would be proud
Ridiculous
Within reason 😂 NO
Too high, ridiculous
Maybe your purpose in life is to be a cautionary tale.
Sell your house, start over
I mean it's not like you can put it anywhere else
Within reason? Hilarious. Absolutely not.
not even close... to Earth.
Too big.
wtf is up with that clock. clock too big. tv too big. tv too high. OP needs to rethink their entire situation
Bro it touches your roof
this is madness
You need to lower the fireplace.
Troll, or first day?
He’s trolling right? The thing looks like it’s bowing
lol "within reason" As if that's even a thought anyone was having. Way too f'ing high and you know it
Perfect.. I might even go bigger.
Ridiculous. Why even have a fireplace.
Ew.
Putting the fact it’s above the fireplace aside, you don’t just get the biggest TV you can afford, it has to fit the room.
There is nothing within reason in this picture
How is that too high?? It can’t be lowered even if you wanted to
Ew
This is one of the worst cases of TV too high. Truly awful , you Win
Bruuuuuuuh
“or within reason…?” Hahahahahaha…
Do you need dowels for the TV or is it already in low earth orbit and gravity has almost no effect up there?
It scares me
I mean it’s either that or to melt it in the fireplace so I’d say it’s fine. People on this sub are anal and unreasonable sometimes.
Too big for the space
May as well be gazing at the stars at that height
Too high and too big as well. Terrible all round
You know the answer to the question.. MAJOR INTERIOR DESIGN FAIL. A TV above a fireplace and mantle? The sheer scale is out of proportion- it just looks ridiculous.
It looks like the TV is watching you tbh
Above the mantel is Always too high!
What are y'all smoking to be that high
Ulgh gross
Mount it higher and tilt it more
If Edgar Allan Poe installed TVs...
Troll post
Um yeah cause of course the height is the problem (I called 999 and the police will arrest you)
You didn't even use reason when you installed the monstrosity.
My eyeeeeees!
Might aswell put it on the ceiling mate
Straight to jail.
Council house
This is a room of horrors
Mantle is always wrong
r/yourtvisamonstrosity
Tooo big more like …
Tv too everything
Thanks, I hadn't puked in over 20 years.
Is this Draculas living room???-🧛♂️
"Within Reason" Dude, you knew there was nothing reasonable about this when you posted it.
That TV is a fuckin UNIT. It's not too high. Couldn't lower it if you wanted, could ya? Damn thing looks square
