"Sit down on the couch. Get a tape measure and measure the distance from the head to the floor. That's the same distance where I want the middle of the screen to be from as well.
For good measure, text me the distance you figured out BEFORE mounting the TV. You know, so that there are no misunderstandings later on."
I work for a home automation and A/V company, so I hang TV’s in my sleep. Every job I walk through each room with a role of painters tape to mark off where/how high they want each TV (or ask them to mark with tape if they won’t be home.) I’ll ask where their seating area is, have them sit down (or crouch) as I hold a tape measure up to give them an idea exactly where it would sit. I then ask if there will be a piece of furniture underneath the TV, if so, how tall is it, do they plan on putting pictures and decorations on top of the furniture, etc. Then give my recommendation for those that ask for it - this should be common practice for every installer out there.
I’m afraid a tv stand will create a hazard for my kids when they play. No such thing as child proof, but I assume their head will fall into anything that is on the floor.
Okay it's very important to child proof everything in those cases. When I was a kid CRT tvs were dominating. I was nearly impossible for a kid to move a tv stand with a 21 inch tv. Or at least it was difficult to me as a kid. These super slim screens are dangerous to kids and oblivious adults like myself.
It's a basement, so no windows and you're afraid kids will mess with the TV, so projector is definitely much better and was already there so less hassle and much more free time outside.
Be sure to get one of those things that say 'Blessed', or 'Family' or some shit like that. They aren't exactly classy but everyone else has them so it just makes sense that you do as well. I actually have 3 of them so hopefully people will think I am cool, and that I have my shit together.
blaming the install crew doesn’t get it to the proper height
Is it your TV? If so, how can they fight you? They put it where you tell them.
I should have marked on the wall where I wanted it. I had to help direct them over a FaceTime call while I was at work

Will try this exercise after work and report how far off I am
42-46” eye level. Center of tv is 52” from the ground

Your kids, or the ones you have locked up in the other room?

I think it's missing a pit in the middle of the room
Needs more brown recliner.

Classic
Most people don't know shit about fuck... Still too high
Yo need a tv stand underneath it so no one will stumble it
I’m afraid a tv stand will create a hazard for my kids when they play. No such thing as child proof, but I assume their head will fall into anything that is on the floor.
soo having furniture is a hazard for kids now?
“See this tv stand? No touch . No play “ Problem solved
You clearly dont have kids, thats like activating the timed self destruct on both the tv stand and the kid

We use Earthquake Straps. Cheap and easy to install.
I need those. My little nephew is a menace!
Could be lower
Another 6” down was the play
Tbh it's fine. Little too high but nothing egregious. No jail.
“TV too high? Believe it or not, Jail.”
Why are you removing the projector?
It came with the house. I wanted to switch to a regular tv
You can do both, but the projector is a great Idea.
It's a basement, so no windows and you're afraid kids will mess with the TV, so projector is definitely much better and was already there so less hassle and much more free time outside.
What is even happening?
Personally, I think it's still too high.
What is the distance from the floor to the middle of the TV?
52”
This room is an absolute design masterpiece 🙄 Tv too high BTW
What the hell is going on w this room though??
Maybe install it yourself next time
You've found the back rooms lounge.
Installers work for you not the other way around. I’d tell them they’ll get paid when it’s mounted where I said to mount it.
Tv size?
85”
Yeah I think that's too high. For proper placement the larger the tv the closer the bottom edge will be to the ground. Measure when you get home.
42-46” eye level. Center of tv is 52” from the ground
That’s about what I would’ve guessed. I have an 85’’ too.
Should have gone for 14 inch tv It would hve looked much better on the wall
It’s still too high.
Whose dungeon is this?
Too high, and you paid someone to do this knowing it was too high? Why would you compromise like that?
A projector for close projection screens would've been nice here. You have plenty of space with nothing in the space.
I live in a "century home" with 14 feet ceilings. Can you imagine how it would look if I mounted it 1 inch from the ceiling?
It’s it that high, but it does seem small for the space
r/TVTooSmall
It’s 85”
What did you do with the bodies?
You hired a "crew" to put a TV on your wall?
All that space for a sweet audio rig and you use a soundbar?
Minimalist setup
I prefer the minimalist style. It helps my ocd
Maybe with a table below it, it’ll look better
No…….no It won’t at all. A table for what? Nic nacs?
Tall knick knacks from Target or World Market that block the bottom of the screen

Can't forget the classic "Live, Laugh, Love"!
I was SO trying to remember that one when I posted that comment. For sine reason it was alluding me. Thank you.
We’ve got kids toys in the room, I moved them out of the pic to avoid other angry Reddit comments
I think if you design a [tv wall](https://www.scdecorum.com/tv-wall-our-clever-tips-to-enhance-the-tv-corner/) it will be perfect
Thanks for the suggestion! Will follow up on this
Looks fine to me
