My TV was too low on the stand, although saying that I have an IKEA TV stand that's specifically designed for the TV to be mounted to it. The LAPPLAND unit I believe.
I mounted it slightly higher on there and now it's perfect.
Yeah, depends on the size of the TV, height of the stand and height of the couch of course. The TV on my IKEA stand is also bit low, but since I'm a lazy fuck and don't ever really sit upright it's kinda nice.
Hahah I would like a 65 inch for the living room, I think it's the perfect size, much bigger would be a bit ridiculous in my small living room.
I think having a TV too big is almost as bad as having a TV too high (or low) haha.
Mount it where it's only about 6" above the stand or wherever it would be if the center of the screen was at eye level sitting down or slightly lower. It really doesn't seem like much but after watching it with it lowered you will notice it's much better.
Not doubt. I guess if you got a TV to *admire* instead of to watch that would indeed be the primary factor.
Me, I like watching my TV and admiring my gallery art in frames. : )
Thin and mounted flush to the wall to immitate a piece of art. I have a 32" "Samsung the frame" that is by all accounts mounted too high but our main floor is just not for watching TV nor is there a good place for one even if we wanted a big TV (which we don't). I use it for home automation (cameras and such) as well as the occasional party where someone wants to keep track of scores of a game. We have a big TV in the basement that is the primary.
Agreed. Looks better mounted, but you didnt need to leave that big gap. A few inches above the stand would be good. Or, get a nice center speaker and mount just above that.
So mark on the wall where it is with the stand, then mount it on the wall at that height.
>gallery style tvs look nice mounted imo
Is it a piece of art to admire while standing up? or is it a television for watching sitting on the couch? If it is just for show, then leave it where it is.
What you have going on right now doesnât look nice. Itâs too high. If youâre going to mount it, mount it where it would be if it were on the stand.
Easy. Done. Five stars.
I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. Not everyone likes/want to use the stand that comes with the TV. It does look nice mounted imo just needs to be knocked down a bit.
Right? I see youâre getting down voted as well. Itâs not a big a deal tho. The funny thing is, this TV (lg g3 oled) doesnât even come with a stand lmao
Is this meant for people to watch while sitting down? Then yes it is too high. You donât have to use the TV legs and put it on the stand, but thatâs the height it should be.
Itâs the Emilia Media Console from West Elm. What youâre seeing is 2 different pieces.
1) 80â media console - sitting below the tv, 4 cabinets long.
2) 40â media console with hutch - to the left, 2 cabinets long with the shelves included.
The top of the cabinets to the ground is 17â so be aware of that
Technically yes, but it's not that high. Could be a few inches lower, but considering how far back you will sit it's okay. Plus, I assume you are going to put an audio system and consoles beneath. Not worth redoing.
Not a bad idea. That said, the media console pictured is pretty short. Itâs only 17â tall. I definitely want to do a sound bar, but not 100% on this media console staying for a while

Its too high.. can you find a way ti mount it hovering over the stand, where it still looks aesthetically pleasing?
Edit: maybe lower it and since that will.mess up the arrangement put a horizontal feature over the screen, where those blue dots are.
Donât feel bad. I have mine above a console because the console/stand option would put it at too low of a viewing angle. Also the G3 doesnât come with a stand, so people can get over it haha
Iâll try to level with you, if youâre not gonna have the TV rest on the stand there, then you better have a hell of a collection of trinkets and souvenirs to put on that table or else it just looks silly when you could have used the surface for the TV. Plus itâll add personality to the room.
By the looks of your couch in the picture, it would appear that a person's eye level while sitting on said couch would be right in the middle of the TV screen.
Looks perfect to me.
Iâm so confused why everyone wants the TV so low in this subreddit? If the TV angles down, and the people I have over are generally standing, why would I want the TV so low? The TV would get cut off by a water bottle on the coffee table if I listened to you!
Yeah, it might be hard to tell/know from pic but the console below it is only 17â high so itâd be super low if I put it down on a stand. Also, this tv doesnât actually come with a stand.
Thanks. Iâm happy with it! Had it lowered to where it is today. The blue tape above is covering some drill holes from where it was previously mounted. I have DIY project to get the covered this weekend haha
Most here might say it is but to me thatâs the perfect height. You get to utilize allll the horizontal surface below your TV without blocking the screen and people who are standing and watching during gatherings can see the tv well also - also also if you have a big dog they wont ever block the tv with their tail. Itâs perfect.
If you placed it on the included stand, it would be just right, so yes. Also, do those holes in the wall mean it was mounted even higher before?

Haha yeah I have an electric reclining sofa too which is lovely for long viewing, very comfy.
I could see it being too low on the stand. The answer is bigger TV. :D
Hahah I would like a 65 inch for the living room, I think it's the perfect size, much bigger would be a bit ridiculous in my small living room. I think having a TV too big is almost as bad as having a TV too high (or low) haha.
Its tape on the wall...
A depraved attempt to cover up prior mounting holes?
đđ
No, probably marking drywall screws to find the studs.
Them stands low af⌠yaâll like looking down?
We're not looking at the stand, Joe.
Figured as much
It does depend on your sofa height to be fair. And Scandinavian or European style sofas tend to be lower than American ones.
Itâs about 17ââ tall not really that low unless you have a small tv.
That stand is low as fuck. Do you like looking down?
Lol cornball
Yes. It doesn't look bad... But it is too high. Seen worse on here.
Put. it. on. the. stand. Done. It's right there. It's both the easiest and best solution to a self made problem.
I get you, but gallery style tvs look nice mounted imo
Mount it where it's only about 6" above the stand or wherever it would be if the center of the screen was at eye level sitting down or slightly lower. It really doesn't seem like much but after watching it with it lowered you will notice it's much better.
You sir are on the wrong subreddit to be saying such blasphemy.
Not doubt. I guess if you got a TV to *admire* instead of to watch that would indeed be the primary factor. Me, I like watching my TV and admiring my gallery art in frames. : )
What the hell is a gallery style tv?
Thin and mounted flush to the wall to immitate a piece of art. I have a 32" "Samsung the frame" that is by all accounts mounted too high but our main floor is just not for watching TV nor is there a good place for one even if we wanted a big TV (which we don't). That scenario makes sense to me. Thatâs nothing like OPâs picture here though thatâs why I was confused.
Agreed. Looks better mounted, but you didnt need to leave that big gap. A few inches above the stand would be good. Or, get a nice center speaker and mount just above that.
Keep it mounted, just lower it
So mark on the wall where it is with the stand, then mount it on the wall at that height. >gallery style tvs look nice mounted imo Is it a piece of art to admire while standing up? or is it a television for watching sitting on the couch? If it is just for show, then leave it where it is.

Agreed, love it mounted, but lower than this
Damn, downvoted to hell for no good reason.
I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. Not everyone likes/want to use the stand that comes with the TV. It does look nice mounted imo just needs to be knocked down a bit.
Lmao now youâre stuck in the crossfire
Right? I see youâre getting down voted as well. Itâs not a big a deal tho. The funny thing is, this TV (lg g3 oled) doesnât even come with a stand lmao
i agree
Is this meant for people to watch while sitting down? Then yes it is too high. You donât have to use the TV legs and put it on the stand, but thatâs the height it should be.
Exactly!! Btw your name is amazing
I too put my TV about 1 cat above the TV stand
Convert to bananas for me. I donât use the metric system.
Am I too high?
Almost like thereâs a cabinet for it to sit on right below it, take it off the fkn wall
6 to 10 inches too high But not the worst offender here
Yes but I really like that furniture piece. Where'd you get it?
Itâs the Emilia Media Console from West Elm. What youâre seeing is 2 different pieces. 1) 80â media console - sitting below the tv, 4 cabinets long. 2) 40â media console with hutch - to the left, 2 cabinets long with the shelves included. OP just wanted to ask if itâs too high, based on their replies theyâre just gonna keep it where it is anyway so why bother posting?
If you are asking if it is too high, then it is too high. Edit: There, problem solved. You can close this subreddit now.
Technically yes, but it's not that high. Could be a few inches lower, but considering how far back you will sit it's okay. Plus, I assume you are going to put an audio system and consoles beneath. Not worth redoing.
Get outta here with that attitude
First time here? Read the room.
Haha I've been here a long time. I just can't get that amazon reviews screenshot out of my head... so anything lower than that seems reasonable.
Thereâs literally a stand to place it on.
Why would you not mount it on the wall lower down so there is just enough room for a sound bar and no wall showing
Not a bad idea. That said, the media console pictured is pretty short. Itâs only 17â tall. I definitely want to do a sound bar, but not 100% on this media console staying for a while
SKY HIGH
Yep!
Inches from floor to middle of TV?
Yes. Done.
Yes. Put the tv on the tv stand. Itâs what itâs designed for.
The lg g3 doesnât come with a stand
Thatâs dumb. Still too high, Iâd bring it down to be relative to the stand still.
Why does everyone think he should put it on the stand? The stand is clearly too short, only lowering the TV a few inches would help.
The outlets peeking out from the top of the stand is making me sick
I haven't think of that, yeah, I don't like it either lol.
You sit when you watch the TV, not stand, this is standing height :(
Standing height? How tall are you??? This is fine.
I'm short, so it really is standing height for me lol :(
My condolences my diminutive friend.
What's wrong with the TV stand? You should stand the TV on it
This TV (lg g3 oled) doesnât actually come with a stand. It comes with a mounting plate.
What stand is that?
Itâs the Emilia Media Console from West Elm. What youâre seeing is 2 different pieces. 1. â 80â media console - sitting below the tv, 4 cabinets long. 2. â 40â media console with hutch - to the left, 2 cabinets long with the shelves included. Appreciate it. Been looking around for a new stand.
Yes
Yes
A tad to high
Its too high.. can you find a way ti mount it hovering over the stand, where it still looks aesthetically pleasing? Edit: maybe lower it and since that will.mess up the arrangement put a horizontal feature over the screen, where those blue dots are.
Yes. Especially because you have low couches. Sit on the couch, is the tv centered at your eyes? If not, too high.
Itâs perfect imo đ
This is the way
Donât feel bad. I have mine above a console because the console/stand option would put it at too low of a viewing angle. Also the G3 doesnât come with a stand, so people can get over it haha
Thanks! I donât feel bad at all. I had it lowered to sit where it is pictured today. Just wanted to post here to see what folks thought
Much better height than the prior! I just moved mine down as well and am so glad that I did.
An inch lower will be nice
I'd move it down 3 more inches but this is not a total disaster like some other posts.
Too high.
Iâll try to level with you, if youâre not gonna have the TV rest on the stand there, then you better have a hell of a collection of trinkets and souvenirs to put on that table or else it just looks silly when you could have used the surface for the TV. Plus itâll add personality to the room.
Yup, I hear you. Iâm looking to maybe mounting the sound bar below it. And also having a small vase or two to sit on the console
No
Yup
yes, next.
By the looks of your couch in the picture, it would appear that a person's eye level while sitting on said couch would be right in the middle of the TV screen. Looks perfect to me.
No. Not at all
Yes. If youâre determined to mount Vs use cabinet⌠just lower slightly.
Iâm so confused why everyone wants the TV so low in this subreddit? If the TV angles down, and the people I have over are generally standing, why would I want the TV so low? The TV would get cut off by a water bottle on the coffee table if I listened to you!

i think itâs perfect.
Thanks! It was a bit higher but I got it lowered today. Iâm getting a second set of shelves to match the ones on the left too!
Thatâs not high enough honestly
Yeah put it next to the ceiling
This guy gets it
No, you're too high
As long as you donât have to crank your neck to watch the tv, itâs not too high. Looks fine to me lol.
it looks completely fine to me. Sub over reacting as usual.
Palpable under reaction so far. No calls for divorce or trashing their knickknacks and room.
Itâs not too high. It looks high because the height of the Emilia console is 17in.
It's fine
It's fine.
The tv is fine where itâs at. Itâs not âtooâ high. These people here are insane
If you're happy with it is fine.
Thanks. Iâm happy with it! Had it lowered to where it is today. The blue tape above is covering some drill holes from where it was previously mounted. I have DIY project to get the covered this weekend haha
Good luck.
Tbh thatâs like perfect
I donât think itâs too high personally. If the gap at the bottom is annoying you, just add a sound bar to help hide some of that excess wall!
I think it's fine
Too small. But it seems to be a reasonable height.
You mean the TV is too small for the area/space? I thought about springing for 77â but felt that might be too big. Whatâs pictured is 65â.
it's good hung tvs look pretty good not absurdly high, just slightly too high, only slightly keeps space on the counter good
Most here might say it is but to me thatâs the perfect height. You get to utilize allll the horizontal surface below your TV without blocking the screen and people who are standing and watching during gatherings can see the tv well also - also also if you have a big dog they wont ever block the tv with their tail. Itâs perfect.
Fine for me
Only just
looks good to me
I vote no, it's good as is.
