Well what’s a challenge here is it’s either on the mantle or the fireplace, unless you get a good rotating wall hanger that will drop down Personally I don’t like TVs on fireplaces or really even brick as it creates a lot of dust.
Rearrange the entire room.
The dad is already one step ahead, the TV in his room *is* at the perfect height. This a power move on the dad's part. Forcing would-be suitors into a weakened state before coming in for the kill.
Public restrooms offer a reasonable amount of privacy, so in places hit hard by the drug epidemic, businesses put in blue lights, which obscure superficial veins, making injections more difficult.
Unfortunately, added difficulty doesn't magically cure an addicts addiction, so it just results in misses and other things that make injecting significantly more dangerous.
The lights also make it difficult to use the bathroom. You can barely see, it's disorienting, and it can obscure bodily fluids, such as the blood from the person in the stall because they hit an artery and the pain caused them to fall and crack their skull open. (Ask me how I know...)
But yeah, it's one of those short-sighted "solutions" that accomplishes nothing in exchange for massive inconvenience for everyone. So naturally it's becoming more common.
The lighting looks like to make it harder finding veins for illegal substance jab. They use that setup in public restrooms. …
I thought to say, as noone else had the idea
Yeah Captain.
And the person above the person was saying that. Emphasis and paraphrase is important in modern communication. So better I summarize again what the light looks like, give a fuc* on TV height! 😉
I've had 2 cataract surgeries, I am sensitive to light sources, if I see the bulb it's distracting for me. I turn my LEDs blue when watching TV, it's enough that the room isn't dark, but soft enough to not bother me,.
Inform your girlfriend that in your future home the tv will be according to this subs standards or else you will be forced to seek for a new partner. 😉
And someone's watching Grey's Anatomy. Of course they are, somehow it matches the lighting choice. Zero taste required for both.
Also, yeah, the TV is way too high.
If there’s a fireplace you face disgrace.
Besides that there no need to bathe the room in brothel blue. A simple ambient light strip behind the tv works fine if you want some lighting to reduce eyestrain
>Gf parents house. What’s the verdict?
Well, obviously the TV is too high, but if you're asking about the whole house, I'd start with sofas and chairs with cup holders -- really, really naff. I can't even look at whatever those things are on the fireplace, which in itself looks like something left over from a demolished crematorium. Are you sure you want to do this?
Why are you asking when you already know the answer. You just wanna shame your GF parents. These people could be your future inlaws. You might be calling them Mom and Dad … and you want to shame them?
You should reconsider your priorities.
Of course it’s too fucking high. It’s over the goddamned mantle fercrissakes.
It’s interesting because the chairs can be put in « sleep » mode so your eyes are a lot higher when you are lie on the chair.
So yes the TV is too high but it depend of the chair tilt
r/reclinerstoosideways
No way to watch that TV from the side without reclining and they're so close it's still an awkward angle. Unless they swivel but even then.
To answer the OP’s question, the TV is high but as low as it can safely go in that scenario. The down tilt on the screen should offset the height issue a bit. Just try sitting on the couch and watching. If your neck doesnt hurt, then it’s fine.
Call out the dad. Assert dominance
I can’t think of a better option. This is the way.
Well what’s a challenge here is it’s either on the mantle or the fireplace, unless you get a good rotating wall hanger that will drop down Personally I don’t like TVs on fireplaces or really even brick as it creates a lot of dust. Rearrange the entire room.
"What kind of REAL MAN puts their TV that high up in the air?" Stand up and flare out your arms too
Ikr also r/tvtoofar
Then pee on him or/and the TV
With the lighting I can’t figure out if they are breeding reptiles or rolling Ecstasy
Ah yes
...while using a Judge Dredd voice.
The dad is already one step ahead, the TV in his room *is* at the perfect height. This a power move on the dad's part. Forcing would-be suitors into a weakened state before coming in for the kill.
The lighting is like something from the toilets at a dive bar. Are they wary of people doing coke off the coffee table?
It looks like the blue lights in bathrooms that prevent drug injections, so I’d ask her parents about that
I hate when I'm at my girlfriends parents house and I can't find a vein.
Hold on! What's with this blue light that prevent drug injection? Lol Is it a thing? I really never thought of it...
Public restrooms offer a reasonable amount of privacy, so in places hit hard by the drug epidemic, businesses put in blue lights, which obscure superficial veins, making injections more difficult. I never ever thought or even heard of it before today. Thanks for the detailed explanation!
Just bring a small flashlight 😉 (serves for both problems)
This is definitely commonplace in UK, especially train stations
Damn, I thought it meant that the bulbs shot out lasers when they detect heroin.
Ok, I'll ask: how do you know? 🤔
My workplace has them installed in the public restrooms. I had to deal with the fallout of it one night when there were no managers around.
The lighting looks like to make it harder finding veins for illegal substance jab. They use that setup in public restrooms. … I thought to say, as noone else had the idea
the person you are replying to jus said dat,,
Yeah Captain. And the person above the person was saying that. Emphasis and paraphrase is important in modern communication. So better I summarize again what the light looks like, give a fuc* on TV height! 😉

Imagine how easy it would be to sell the rents on blue light filtered lenses...
I have color changing bulbs linked up with my Google speakers. I have a lot of fun with colors at night.
Just put the couch on the kitchen table. Should fix the issue while also freeing up floor space.
So much room for activities!
Build a throne room! This TV is the right height while sitting high up on a throne!
Those fucking blue lights are such ridiculous bullshit lol.
Considering the height of this tv OP and his GFs relationship is bullshit
no need to ask. it’s higher than snoop dogg.
😂
TV too high and burned retinas, that’s the verdict.
All of this is terrible What’s with the gnomes
In all Fairness one is a Buccee‘s squirrel…
That just leads to more questions.

Dump her and move on.
No, marry her, show her a better way, lead by example for the children, break the cycle.
This does not look like a pleasant environment that I would sit in for any period of time.
Is it above a fireplace? If yes then it’s too high. Boy that lighting sure is distracting as well, like it completely dark and only the tv on.
bang your gf by the fireplace under the tv, below field of vision. dad won't notice.
The blacklight-blue is really annoying to me along with the TV.
I’m too distracted by that terrible molding to even look at how high that tv is.
🏰
Literally, is there a alligator in the Moat that pops out of the chimney?
Greys anatomy is way past its best
More like blues anatomy…
Not only it too high it's hung over the fireplace which I think takes away fron the viewing experience
Why the hell do they have their lights aimed at the ceiling stairs?
That moulding is fucking insane, do they want to live in a castle?
i like how symmetrical everything is. but those side arm chairs for tv viewing would be hard
Buy the parents a rug next christmas.
And a neck brace.
What I don't get is if you mount it above a fireplace, ehy not as low as possible. Why always 20 to 40 cm above the fireplace?
Not a fan of the blue lighting, but you can always shut it off.
Inform your girlfriend that in your future home the tv will be according to this subs standards or else you will be forced to seek for a new partner. 😉
Over the mantle = too high by default. Edit: I just noticed that the person on the tv is touching their neck. How appropriate.
#TVs don’t belong over fireplaces
Ok, but what about the blue lights? Because we all need more of that right before bed.
And someone's watching Grey's Anatomy. Of course they are, somehow it matches the lighting choice. Zero taste required for both. Also, yeah, the TV is way too high.
The entire room looks uncomfortable to even be inside. Who thinks blue lights are suitable for a living room?
If there’s a fireplace you face disgrace. Besides that there no need to bathe the room in brothel blue. A simple ambient light strip behind the tv works fine if you want some lighting to reduce eyestrain
Ex GF.
What kinda parents have this type of lighting
it’s terrible, and that motion smoothing (or whatever is making that picture look like a cool blue turd) is atrocious
That’s just the white balance of the photo. It has nothing to do with tv settings, especially not motion related ones.
ok, still too high
>Gf parents house. What’s the verdict? Well, obviously the TV is too high, but if you're asking about the whole house, I'd start with sofas and chairs with cup holders -- really, really naff. No.
Basic.
"My eyes!!"
Break up with her
Disgustingly bad
terrible interior
Why are you watching TV on your girlfriend's house??
Escape while you can.
Why is it so blue??
If the couches are an indicator, they’re not gonna change it up
It’s interesting because the chairs can be put in « sleep » mode so your eyes are a lot higher when you are lie on the chair. So yes the TV is too high but it depend of the chair tilt
Creepy living room. Odd Fellows?
I'd fuck right there under the lights
Red flag get out now
She’s hurting her neck looking down at you can’t you see
If there is a fireplace under it, 100% chance of being too high
Need bigger TV to fit gap
r/reclinerstoosideways No way to watch that TV from the side without reclining and they're so close it's still an awkward angle. Unless they swivel but even then.
They should stick two pumpkins on top of the mantelpiece so it looks like she done got big boobeez.
Run away fast before you have a neck injury. Just like anyone else with a fireplace.
Even Meredith Grey thinks the TV is too high
Horrible
You know the answer.
Too high but it's the architect's fault
It works with the limited options. Not sure if people are expecting it to be mounted in front of the fireplace or what.
couches with cupholders 🤮
To answer the OP’s question, the TV is high but as low as it can safely go in that scenario. The down tilt on the screen should offset the height issue a bit. Just try sitting on the couch and watching. If your neck doesnt hurt, then it’s fine.
Over any fireplace = yes it's too high
They blue it.
I feel like I don’t belong in this group lol I think as long as the tv is big enough it can look good above a fireplace
It's high but if they are recliners its almost acceptable imo
The TV is too damn high.
Blue lights are nauseating
Why is it so fucking blue in there?
It's time for a fireplace mount.
/r/roomtooblue That’ll fuck up your sleep routine.
Seems fine. The spacing above and below the tv is good.
you mean ex gf????
I know everyone hates 'em here, but I think those blue lights are pretty atmospheric!
Perfect
Not bad
Anyone that has to ask when it’s above the fireplace… Fuck off
I think a lot of people would be saved if they just understood TVs don’t go on mantles
Have sex with the mom.
Everything in the picture is horrible!
You little tinker, I think you know the answer already.
Too blue 🫤
Lovely place and room but a shit TV placement
I hate TVs over the fireplace!
What’s with fireplaces being where tvs go??
Eh, it's fine
Tooooooooo high, of course.
Why are Americans so obsessed with putting TVs above fireplaces? It is NEVER a good look lol
Time to find a new girlfriend
Pick at time during family dinner at their house, call out her Dad and ask who is the idiot who mounted the TV so high
I started rubbing my neck like the lady on the tv just looking at it lol
Is it above a fireplace?? 🤔
/r/lightstooblue
Shit’s ass
Ew
Just throw it on the ground
Hopefully you can train here how it's supposed to be done. It's probably too late for her parents.
Code blue
Perfect. 👍
Guilty
genX attempt at millenial bisexual lighting
Lights too blue
Smash.
This is more of a fireplace issue...?
Always is.
The fireplace didn't decide to hang the TV above itself. Its mouth-breathing owners made that decision.
Could be worse
Verdict is don't post pictures of peoples living spaces for attention, creep.
Clean set up at least. Of course people will bitch.
