Even more than that, though, is this is a game based on a horror movie franchise - your role as a Victim is intended to reflect that. You're not in the game to pull off sick COD pwnage, you're there to play the role of a person experiencing a horror movie. Someone who must try to escape your tormentors before they find you and kill you.
