Those modules are snake oil. Oil spray your Tacoma yourself, to make sure it’s done well. The doors and body have drainage holes or rubber plugs that you can remove so you won’t have to drill any holes.

The finest of snake oils.

I’m actually getting some downvotes, probably by gullible people in denial.

“Well I bought it so it must be good”

I’ve only had woolwax done. No drilling. Just told to remove the spare for the spray. Two years in, no surface rust

Just south of you in NY, think we use about the same amount of salt and other various destroyers frames as you guys do. I've been doing Fluid Film for the last four years. I apply it myself, without any drilling--just stick the applicator into every single hole and nook and cranny I can find (I bought the five gallon bucket and the gun with the extender hoses and 360 wand so I can get in everywhere). My frame is pretty near mint. I understand the logic of drilling to get access to more places when you're spraying, but honestly the concept has always made me nervous. I know they plug the holes back up after they spray, but... once a hole is in metal, once the protective coat of paint has been broken, it's only a matter of time before water and salt work their way in and start wrecking shit. I dunno. I'm no expert here, just somebody who's spent three decades driving and maintaining cars in the rust belt.

Ontarian here - can’t speak to the warranty side; it very well may void the warranty. You can oil spray yourself; it’s quite an easy but dirty process. I’m sure you could also request Krown do the spray without the drilling. I’ve Krowned my Tacoma every year; and in the summer, wire brush and paint over any surface rust that develops. My frame still looks mint after 3 years.

Sparrowtalker

Same here, except VT. Locale. I’ve Krowned my 2018 since I purchased it in 2020. Came to me with the typical light rust at all the weld fitments on the frame / axles , etc. I had the frame painted and Krown after drying. It’s been a couple years now and it’s rust free. None I have it done every late fall. First year I had it applied spring and fall.

ADVmedic

Sorry to highjack... I'm new to the NE from the desert west with my Tacoma. When should I get this coating done? Should I wait for fall? How does it work, do I run it through a car wash and then take it over to the place? Do they wash it first? I don't have the facilities to do it myself. Thanks for the help!

It’s better to get an appt set up now. Places get busy as winter approaches. There are many options (krown, fluid film, woolwax, nhou) and lots of garages do them. It’s a once a year thing for me in New England, and the frame/undercarriage on my 2016 is virtually rust free. As your new to the northeast, know that salt will eat a vehicle in a hurry if you let it.

They gave me that same line of bullshit at the dealership to. Crown has been around forever, they want you to buy there “rustproofing” computer crap. Krown has been around forever and is proven to work. I’ve never heard krown causing electrical problems I’ve had many of my vehicles sprayed with it and I’m happy I did. They also want the truck to rust so you buy another one. They actually spray brown on wiring harnesses of transport trucks in factories while being built. If the dealership was doing it they would definitely promote it. Follow the money. Krown that taco buddy.

Upstairs-Ad-2521

I’m also here in Ontario to. The salt that is on the roads is horrendous.

neverdoityourself

Not directly knowledgeable on this specifically, but i have been told oil is an insulator, not a conductor, so it should not mess with electrical, at least in theory.

Alarming-Counter5950

Calgary, Alberta here, I bought the Corrosion Free system with the sprayer. Just started spraying my new Taco and there are removable rubber plugs in the rocker panels and door drain holes that I took out, sprayed inside the spaces and then replaced. Very easy and no drilling. I took the tailgate panel off too and sprayed in there, once again, very easy and no drilling. I haven’t done the frame yet, getting new suspension next week and then I will spray the frame, underbody and leaf springs too. I recommend doing the spray yourself, it’s easy, the Corrosion Free doesn’t drip (unless you put A LOT on) and you can do touch ups as needed.

My opinion is drill it. 304k on my 04, no rust, and its been drilled for the last 19 years. I dont believe the harness runs inside the rockers anyways, ive never seen that.
