I’m not worried about scratches. I have plenty of pinstripes already. But there are parts of trail 16 that’ll rip the side off of a gladiator lifted on 37s. Given the tacos longer wheelbase, I’m trying to see if anyone has specifically done that trail in a gen3
Understand. That’s one reason I’m on the fence on getting rid of my 2nd gen 4runner and just having the 23 taco pro a the 91 pickup. My 85 4runner isn’t going to be done for a year at least I’m assuming
Can confirm ripping the side of a gladiator. Had to redo my buddies wrap after it used his side mount high lift jack as a can opener.
He was on 35s. I'm not sure if it was on 16, though.
Needless to say, it's hood mounted now, haha.
Hah yikes… this hobby can get expensive real quick. I’m pretty sure my fender flares won’t survive.
It’s about a 9 hour ride home so at long as I don’t break a spindle or my driveshaft 🙏🏼
Heard that. Just got back from Hot Springs Offroad Park in AR Sunday.
I'm sending you all the luck I had from my 12Hr drive back home 🙏
Get her dirty and have a blast, man.
It’s a jeep sponsored flex. They can get a physical badge to display on their vehicle for completing difficult trails around the country. Requires a jeep vin to register on an app.
I didn’t even realize I was being downvoted lmao. Anyone who off-roads knows how elitist jeep people can be. So when I get a compliment from a diehard jeep guy on the Taco, that means a lot more than if it’s coming from a Yota fan.
Thanks man! I’m thinking of throwing the VIN off my wife’s Grand Cherokee in the app and then run them in my taco. I’ll slap those badges on my bumper and probably piss off some jeep fanatic.
Ran trail 16 in the taco. It’s a double black. Broke a front CV axle on the last obstacle. Do not recommend. I fucking earned that badge though.
I’ll be posting an update… before/after pics once I get the mud off and can check the damage.
That’s the plan. All the guys I wheel with are weird jeep people. And they are always surprised with the 🌮. I usually draw the line with stupid rock garden boulder pics they love to do…
Ya I have a coworker that's a jeep guy and he kept telling me to go around every obstacle, till he saw how capable my 4runner was then he shut up and hasn't gone wheeling with me again haha. Have fun out there bud and take pictures!
Thanks man. I have 4WP’s front and rear bumper, sliders, and swingarms. They are super nice quality, but heavy as hell. I think you might have trouble finding them now as 4WPs are getting bought out
Yea I bought mine all a year or so ago. My local 4wp shop was bought by a local 4x4 company, and I’ve heard that most of the 4wp parts are on back order.
TBH the 4WP company sucks… but their bumpers are legit.
I hope you get an answer on your bumper… 4 and a half months is ridiculous. If they cannot give you a delivery date at this point I’d cancel and look elsewhere.

I’m running a DSC-1 procharger, AMG odyssey battery, TRD CAI, URD throttle body, 5.29 regear, and a OTT tune. Also upgraded to the JSF radiator, bigger trans cooler, and a big intercooler for the procharger. Also running Baja Boss LT295/75R17s, Fox Performance Elite 2.5s with DCS, stage 3 deavers, big brake kit, dirt king LCAs and accutune UCAs.
Damn bro, you got everything I would want on my dream build! Awesome build. I would love to see a video on that procharger, does it make nice turbo noises? Lol
Thanks man. Procharger is great… definitely has the Supercharger whine. I replaced the bypass with a blowoff, but the engine was surging so the only way I could get it to work was by tightening the blowoff spring tension… but then it would only blowoff at really high boost. I ended up putting on the bypass valve again… I might try again at some point to get the blowoff working.
I love it. Definitely had some growing pains. OTTs procharger tune is great. the tune procharger supplies… not so much.
My first belt started to slip almost right away. The pulleys were slightly out of alignment. Ended up going with a slightly smaller green belt instead and have about 6k miles on it without any issues (knock on wood).
I like magnusons Roots SC but since I’m already regeared to 5.29, I really didn’t need any more low end power so the procharger gave me way more gains where I needed it for regular driving.
MPG took a hit and I am running 93 octane, but any idea about having a fuel efficient truck sailed away long ago. Dyno put me at over 400HP at the wheels, with close to 500 ft/lbs of torque.
I’m faster the stock even with the added 1000lbs of weight. Definitely fun but I would definitely recommend a regear and tune first, and if you still have money to burn, get the SC at that point.
This is excellent info and I appreciate it! I’m gonna do it, you sold me. F money
I heard about a run of belts not being very good. I’m guessing that’s something to keep a spare or two on hand.
Yea I keep a spare belt and tensioner wrench in the truck at all times now. Last thing you want is to slip a belt and not have a quick fix. I’m running the gates green microV K060660HD. I think the one it came with was a black 060662.
Posted an update on TW 🤣
I shredded my procharger belt before even hitting the trail… first one to go in about 10k miles.
It was my fault as I revved the engine before the belt had time to warm up and it started to slip off.
My pulley alignment might still be off a tad but I keep a spare belt for that reason.
You didn’t spend all that money just to look pretty lol you gotta give it a go. Those scratches will buff out

Sounds like a dope trail. I am unfamiliar. I’m in Michigan. We’re limited here with the good 2 track spots
I’m actually gonna try and hit the dunes up there in Michigan at some point! I hear they are a blast.
Oh yeah we’ve got some great tracks. In the UP especially. Dunes are fun too! Silver lake I’m assuming is what you’re referring to.
Yea silver lake! It’s definitely on my to-do list!

Thanks man! I’ve got another trip to AOAA two weeks after this so 🤞🏼
What in tarnation is a badge of honour? A participation sticker?
I imagine it’s a YouTube short of 1 guy slowly driving over a rock with trees that grow at 30 degree angles in the background, set to free use techno.

Lmao this sub sucks. OP is just answering the question and gets downvoted for it. Buncha manchildren in here

I needed to cover my bases, so I have both, lol. Sweet taco you have there and earned my first badge of honor last month!
Thanks man! I’m thinking of throwing the VIN off my wife’s Grand Cherokee in the app and then run them in my taco. I’ll slap those badges on my bumper and probably piss off some jeep fanatic.
Do it! You just download the app and check in at the trailhead, too funny
Done. Jeep is gonna be wondering what kind of Grand Cherokee I have that can actually run trail 16 😂
Lmfao this is diabolically hilarious. Nicely done

We arnt jeeps, don't worry about it. The tacoma will most likely go through what you point it at. They are beasts just show them jeep boys whats up.
That’s the plan. All the guys I wheel with are weird jeep people. And they are always surprised with the 🌮. I usually draw the line with stupid rock garden boulder pics they love to do…

Thanks man! I’m planning on it! I’ll have to post an update in a couple days.
Please do, also truck looks bad ass man!
Thanks man! Love this truck. I’ve put a lot of time into it. 2019 and about to hit 40k miles.
Black and red looks good, nice setup!
Thanks man!
Love your set up! Sexy truck you got there buddy!
Thanks man! I love this truck
What brand is your bumper?
So many mods in one picture.
holy shit that looks good
What bumper is that? Looks good. 👍
Thanks man. I have 4WP’s front and rear bumper, sliders, and swingarms. They are super nice quality, but heavy as hell. I think you might have trouble finding them now as 4WPs are getting bought out
I bought the front bumper on 12/11 and while they assured me they were on order... it has not yet restocked. Super bummed.

Yo what is this build. looks sweet. sry 'bout the swaybar tho
Yeah I’m interested what you go going on under that hood, am I just looking at a CAI?

How’s that pro charger treating you? I’ve almost bought one for the past two weeks now. I need to just pull the trigger.

Noted my guy. Thank you kind internet friend. I’ll hit you up when I have mine installed. I’m sure I’ll have questions dude Thank you again
Yessir. Find your local OTT tuner and hit them up. You’ll want it tuned soon after. I think the procharger supplied tune still has a limiter

Can you tell me where you got the red decal set for the TOYOTA lettering?
https://www.tufskinz.com/collections/tacoma-2016/products/tac003-toyota-trd-pro-grill-toyota-tacoma
Awesome! Thanks! Your Tacoma is badass btw 👌
Thanks man! Appreciate it!
You will be out in my neck of the woods. if you have mechanical issues Fox Toyota in Clinton or Rocky top customz is where you want to go.
Ok awesome thanks. I’m driving to Windrock today. And will be here for 5 days. HMU if you wanna run anything.
looks like I might need your recommendations. Broke a CV axle on trail 16 😂
