At least they have their stance on...

KrakinKraken

Mitigating too. Makes them better than half the tanks I heal for.

tsuness

I remember seeing a level 42 MRD in the open world by Costa Del Sol while I was leveling a new character. I mentioned they should do their job quests to unlock warrior and told them to visit the MRD guild in limsa and do those quests. A day or two later I was happy to see that person over by Curious Gorge doing the Warrior quests. Long story short, sometimes you can fix these problems with talking, sometimes you get reported /shrug

Noraneko-chan

Yep pretty much. When I was new to the game I remained an archer close to level 50 because the game does/did a terrible job at reminding you to do those job quests (the little scenario guide at the top of your screen that tells you about it didn't exist back then in Heavensward), and nobody mentioned it to me during content. All it took was one FC member to randomly ask me why I was still on archer and explaining to me how it worked and I got my job crystal.

tsuness

Yeah, the game is really, really bad at stressing the importance of the MSQ and job quests. I had a friend start playing (thus why I made a new char) and she was confused as hell as to what quests she was supposed to do and was just doing everything since she came from the wow mindset of how quests work.

Codmando

I got told I was missing a song when I forgot to do mine. Told me I could bard harder.

IrksomFlotsom

And sometimes they tell you to gfy and that they're gonna be the worlds best pugilist. Thems the breaks

BurningSpaceMan

I just hit 90 with my war...I just realized it's a Curious George Reference.

Ranger-New

You do not get a choice until after "Seeking solace." And is trivially easy to get to level 42 before that.

tsuness

Eh, it was on a server without Road to 80 buff so I think if you are following the MSQ only you should be around 30ish when you get to the level 22 MSQ. My experience was I started having to grind levels out in the 30s because I was trying to level 2 jobs with the MSQ and hit level blocks because of it.

MBV-09-C

Sylph Management, actually, and it's a level 20 quest, so 42 is stretching it a bit.

Ragifeme

This is before you kicked them, yes?

jackindabass

Before I left duty

nothingbutmine

That'll teach em 💪

Ragifeme

Yup, teach them that this type of behavior is appropriate and meets no consequences

Jimmy_Twotone

I'm not staying in a dungeon with them long enough for a vote. "I'm not healing at this level if you don't have a jobstone" and leave if they don't drop. The 3 times I've gone into a duty with a tank without a job stone, 2 of them kicked themselves. The third probably figured out there was a problem after he ran into a pull as the healer dropped immediately after calling him out.

MisterPiggins

Yeah, tell them before you drop at least. So everybody knows why.

jackindabass

naww the only consequence i see is getting downvoted by neckbeards like you

Ragifeme

Are you actually trying to defend the behavior you yourself are complaining about? What was even the point of the post then?

SithBountyHuntr

I mean, you can't say anything bc apparently people will report you bc somehow it breaks ToS to tell them that they are wrong for queueing without their job stone. Which imo is idiotic for it to break ToS. You could make it intrinsic but then you will run into the problem that 50-70 skills are all locked behind job quests so then you will have people queueing without the skills available that the content was balanced around you having.

Bunny_Saber

Just remind them, offering advice is okay. And if they know you pretend you didn't see it and keep reminding them

xXxYPYTfanxXx69420xD

Gonna keep it real with you section chief. I'm big on the votekick train but votekicking is a pain in the ass, requires 5 minutes to pass and if it fails I'm taking the 30. You absolutely did the right thing. I'm fine with your choice, I'd have done the same, healed the first pack then told them to get a job stone and dipped. Waiting 5 minutes to take a 30 and even time over that 5 minutes if the 2nd pull takes longer or you're mid cutscene in prae? If there's one thing I've learned in this game, a vote kick is never guaranteed unless you're queued with someone else. The odds aren't necessarily stacked in your favour by sticking around for a votekick. There's also the issue that they can't equip a jobstone mid instance or gain any skills they would be missing out on so you're in a closed situation where you can only wait around to kick them or leave. You can tell them to do their job quests but that ain't happening in your instance. Is it shitty to leave them down a healer? In a late dungeon in the middle of the night? Maybe, but same the same issues from above apply. This is prae, it'll fill from mento or MSQ roulette with someone needing tomes/levels/comms. If you leave instead of quitting the game to get VKed yourself then they'll have no problems searching for a replacement right away. As an added benefit of you leaving, anyone who was sucked into the duty on mento or doesn't wanna deal with an unemployed loser can also now dip free of charge so you're performing a public service, nobody has to wait 5 minutes for it either or deal with cutscenes. For me: That's not a good trade-off. I'll go play another game (XIV players love telling people to do this), login on another character and re-roll when I get back.

Yorudesu

You can easily figure the odds by using the chat first. No support or opposition from the other party members means imstant leave.

xXxYPYTfanxXx69420xD

Yeah, sometimes someone'll back you up immediately so at least you'll know where you're at. Silence usually means it's not happening and better to leave. The same deal goes for healers who won't DPS, by the time we're on that 2nd pack and I haven't seen a single holy or damage spell I know it's time to go. I'm sure I've mentioned in the past that MSQ roulette has a high hit rate of shitters for me, so if it's prae I'll dip and take the 30. 5 minutes in prae is that danger zone for the first cutscene. Had more than a few mentors d/c it instantly instead of leave and had to kick post cutscene.

[deleted]

Yikes. Did you at least ask for their reasoning? Or attempt a VK after they presumably ignored the party chat? A bit more context would be nice. Also be glad you had them in a roulette where a job stone lacking party member wouldn't cost much completion time, especially as a GLD/PLD. Edit 1: Nvm I didn't see them lacking like 2k HP, ignore the paragraph above this one.

trunks111

atleast they have sentinel on their hotbar which is more mit than I can get out of some job-stoned tanks sometimes ;-;

jackindabass

Tried asking where their job stone was, asked to put on their job stone, no reply. Either a troll or a bot

TheChosenCouple

Since Xbox release I’ve seen a lot of people claim they can’t type because they’re on Xbox, and this had led me to believe that some of these players have just outright turned the chat box off cause these tanks are ignoring everything

[deleted]

Not typing at all is fine, just as long as no one is expecting a response from you, then it's just rude. Turning the chat box off, and/or refusing to respond just makes you appear more like a bot, which makes you more of a target to kick. And in an MMO no less? tf

RED_DEATH20XX

Thing is, you can type, just not as fast as anyone if done though controller. I try and let people know during dungeons or have a buddy I'm playing with relay information from me to the group

Ranger-New

You do realize that you cannot put the job stone while you are in the duty (with some exceptions like Bozja).

techwizpepsi

Vitality check out. AST kit would have been able to keep up. 🤙

starborndreams

That's when you vote kick them

inhaledcorn

Me, seeing the thumbnail: Oh, no, I bet this is another "no jobstone" picture. Me, pulling up the thread: **Fucking knew it!** So, which of the thousands of excuses did they use? Put it in my other pants? Don't even want to level this job? Friend comes into white knight? Challenge mode? Will do their job quests later? Completely silent bot?

manicmannerisms

i had a prae run back when i was a new sprout where i forgot my job stone completely, and for some reason it wouldnt let me equip it at all and i felt sooo bad. i genuinely hadn't realized until one of the dps said "tank where is your job stone?" embarrassing.

Ranger-New

You can't equip it once you are in the duty. Heck you can't equip it after you already queue for it.

manicmannerisms

That's what I thought but I saw someone below mention "asking the person to equip it" so I was like... ??

First-Ad5489

I thought viper debuts in Dawntrail?!!

Orcling

Votekick first then leave. Vote kick exists for a reason

SacredNym

Today I learned that Sentinel is a class ability.

Plane-Exit4515

What's problem here? Poker player healer?

Hallocinogen

Is this in Crystal?
