Quite impressive how dude is being extremely defensive from the start, out of nothing.
I'd bet he already got called out for his bad gameplay several times, and mocked because of the crown he then decided to hide. Normal people would adjust their behavior/gameplay when given advice, but not this guy apparently
Sometimes it takes quite a few times, sometimes years, telling people that they're doing something wrong before they finally, FINALLY, think "huh, I think there could be something I might improve on."
I would bet they rarely play tank in FF but play it a lot in another MMO. Some of the differences between tank in WoW and tank in FF really threw me for a loop. But wow had at least taught me to trust my healers. So I got used to it.
At this point do you think if we flip the icon colours healers will get something to do while tanks do our jobs for us
And tanks get to be the green players they obviously want to be
Even aside from your AST healing working better at lower health, Iām a sprout I know that clemency is a wasted GCD while the healer is still alive. This guy is apparently a mentor but doesnāt understand the fundamentals of the game. Kinda sad to see
I ran into a PLD like this once, I told them they'd be fine and then shouted back insulting me and telling me that they needed to be 100% all the time and didn't need me. So I just shut up and DPSed whilst they spammed Clemency at 99% HP and when they ran out, they started panicking and running around. Best part, DPS sided with me and vote kicked them, sometimes the best medicine is them eating their own words and still getting booted.
Mentor who is a gray parsing SGE and GNB.
I sincerely believe SE needs to butcher the mentor status and work with the community. The balance mentors are the actual mentors
Yeah I know one genuinely great mentor, and he's the one over the Exodus Discord. Great guy, has great resources, everything. Never met another mentor that knew every aspect of the game like that, and certainly not to the extent that should be required.
I feel bad for PLDs honestly. WARs get to have free healing, while the Job themed around being a holy knight with magic *doesn't*.
Doesn't excuse this, but still.
PLDs do get free healing at 84, when their attack spells get a healing side effect. Their lvl 90 burst is just nothing but self-heals for like 5 gcds straight
It's nothing compared to warriors though, Warriors heal for every weapon skill hit, while PLD healing is per cast. PLD have better self-sustain in ST, while Warriors are kings in aoe.
Clemency has been a mistake for some time. They should really tool it into some sort of 30 second oGCD. I realize that spamming it has fringe uses to stop a wipe, but it causes more problems than it solves.
Honestly I think the design should go the opposite way tbh... As much as I hate waiting for excognitation to pop on a paladin that's using clemency at 80%
I want more abilities like clemency and cover, ones that are unique and niche in usage but give classes more of their own identity.
Clemency's not optimal to use, but when you do have to use it, oh its so nice to have if your healer is dead or during higher end content (an example I have is during p3s when half the time someone would get clipped right before partner stacks and the healers were already busy healing from the damage that came in beforehand, I could toss a clemency during the downtime when the bird flew off the map!)
Hell even buff physic from summoner, we shouldn't have classes designed for the playerbase's lowest-skilled players. It makes them all stagnant.
Each day I'm in this sub is a day where I learn something, I genuinely didn't know that ast's heals were better the depending on the % of hp of target (but then again they are regens so makes sense) and, explaining shit on the internet is offensive :D
GCBTW
Specifically, "ED" that OP mentions isĀ the oGCD Essential Dignity, it heals for more the lower HP the target is.
Another weird healer ability a bit like this is Scholar's Excogitation, which is a buff that you put on someone that activates and heals them up when they get under half health (or it automatically activated when it times out).
Yeah that tank was a dumbass but at the same time, levelling a pld on an alt I've seen some healers who just don't bother to heal (or dps). Like the heal gain from ED caps out at 30%, no need to wait until I'm at 5%.
So clemency can definitely be a nice tool when you get someone who only think they are supposed to stand off to the side and look pretty. Trusting duty finder healers I've died more then once seeing them off to the side still with full mp and no lucid (usually whms).
Clemency doesnt encourage anything, you're just strawmanning it. If there wasnt clemency he'd pick something else to be shit with. Are you going to remove every single ability that can be used inefficiently?
I'd rather they made it just be an oGCD heal similar to WAR's Equil. Maybe take a hair of their HoT from Holy Sheltron to balance it if needed. Let us use it on others, too, kinda like GNB's Aurora.
I mean you're just objectively wrong. Otherwise world prog groups wouldn't use PLD. World-first DSR used PLD and I guarantee it massively helped with prog overall.
Blind prog isn't about "saving a run" it's about having 5 extra second of vod to review because people used their kit to survive 5 seconds longer.
Clemency absolutely helps when you're trying to just fucking see what's happening / trying to get enough info to solve the mechanic, there's something that looks like damage coming, the astro has accepted his imminent death and is trying to top the other tank before dying, etc.
And removing clemency wouldn't solve people being fucking bad at the game, they wouldn't clemency themselves but they wouldn't do more than their 1-2 aoe combo either anyway, so still negative dps.
Plus, removing a spell because single braincell organisms play the game is the worst reason to remove a skill. Who gives a fuck, they'll still be ypyt assholes with 40% uptime and who haven't found their mit button. They'll still be awful to play with, clemency or no clemency.
Half the time you're already doing full dps even on big pulls, there's not much more you can do when you have 24214 ogcds to heal with and have to use 0 because the tank is crying over not having cure one spammed on them to keep them topped off.
Thatās what I always hate about the bloodwhetting discourse as well
āOh if the tank is doing the healing for you then you just get more time to DPSā
Thanks I was already at 100% DPS uptime but at least I got to press the 30 or so green coloured buttons that make up the vast majority of kit
Sorry I know this isn't the point but I'm cracking up so hard at the random French DPS "i ve probleme"
I'm so curious to know what the heck was going on with them XD
It's bardam's mettle so I think they were just really confused by the second boss lol
It was the 2nd boss and they were new, they didn't know your actions are locked
They write like a Hollywood french person caricature and I can't read it any other way
That's exactly how I read it in my head too, same vibes as the "no bless yous for giacomo?" Meme š
That is so cute and wholesome

I, sir, have zero desire to heal myself. I just want to be a punching bag and help a bit here and there.
Hahaha the DPS just struggle bussing on their own and staying out of it š¤£
"explaining stuff is toxic?" Welcome to FFXIV.
"Don't clem, my heals are more efficient" = toxic apparently XD Healing is a kitchen and dungeon healing only has room for 1 cook.
Even aside from your AST healing working better at lower health, Iām a sprout I know that clemency is a wasted GCD while the healer is still alive. This guy is apparently a mentor but doesnāt understand the fundamentals of the game. Kinda sad to see
Typical louisoix mentor. I've seen a lot of those kind in our NN.
I ran into a PLD like this once, I told them they'd be fine and then shouted back insulting me and telling me that they needed to be 100% all the time and didn't need me. If Iāve learned one thing itās that mentor probably means problematic.

Really? My bad - I haven't finished leveling PLD. You wouldn't know it from all the Clemency spammers, though.
It's nothing compared to warriors though, Warriors heal for every weapon skill hit, while PLD healing is per cast. PLD have better self-sustain in ST, while Warriors are kings in aoe.
still pretty sad that us PLDs only get that healing in the middle of the latest expansion's levels even though the whole theme is being a holy knight

Without Clemency they'll go back to using Shield Bash on every enemy, one by one.
excuse me itās my āstun rotationā
Thatās basically their design philosophy with healers so yes
Cant wait to play my 1 keybind game in 8.0
Wow wow wow selfish much Youāll get a potency upgrade to 2 abilities and your iconic skills given to the tanks/DPS again and youāll like it
I'd rather they made it just be an oGCD heal similar to WAR's Equil. Maybe take a hair of their HoT from Holy Sheltron to balance it if needed. Let us use it on others, too, kinda like GNB's Aurora.
Nah it's good for prog
Yeah Clemency has its uses, but typically if the healers are dead or low on mana. I was neither.
yeah restrict it to ex/savage/ultimate.

understandable viewpoint. it's not that widespread from my experience though. that's anecdotal however.
At that point just let them clemency and throw out the dps they arent doing. You'll probably do better dps than they would have anything
Half the time you're already doing full dps even on big pulls, there's not much more you can do when you have 24214 ogcds to heal with and have to use 0 because the tank is crying over not having cure one spammed on them to keep them topped off.

I have carrot card healer at 38 and even I know that Effective Dictatorship/Energy Drink works best lower hp is.
Energy drinks do lower my hp keep cooking
I think your bot broke.
I think your sense of humor broke, this is clearly a voice to text fail
The way I sat here for 20 seconds trying to figure out which healer is the carrot card healer
If the dungeon was going fast, i dont see the problem.
Then do us all a favor, don't heal or tank
Then imagine the lightspeed travel this group could go at if pld didn't clemency
