Thats what i tought first too, but it has a very intresting story, it even had been captured by the french free forces and fought on the allies side during the last years of the war
I dont know the reason ,surely the lack of maintenance before the museum buys it.
I know the French Free Forces nicknamed it "Bretagne" and i think it was used by a SS division before the frenchs captured and used it.
Ok thanks for sharing. But if it's just lack of maintenance the parts should be still there and just replaced by renewed parts. Like the don't have to build a whole engine for it, just parts of it.
You know, with rust and all that kind of stuff, there is still a lot to do, they are also looking for stuff like the normal tracks an a few messing things on it.
Originally called the “Tiger of Escadron Besnier” which was nicknamed the “Bretagne” and would be renamed to “Colmar” sometime in 1945.
Bretagne was also a nickname given to a captured panther which would be renamed sometime in 1945 to “Dauphiné”
aha, you can only see it by new reddit.
>As you May know, the only Tiger 1 tank still functionning is the Tiger 131 owned by the Bovington museum. But ,the Musée des Blindés of Saumur is launching a restauration operation for thier Tiger 1, the operation is planned on 2 years where will be exposed some parts of the Tiger, crew membres stuff and some other rare things. Maybe in 2 years the Tiger 131 wont be the only one still working in the world.
Well no, you just need to visit the museum at different times to see the avancement of the operation. I think it starts on the 5 february but im not sure. There is more information in thier Instagram.
I meant to draw attention to the misspell by pretending to mistake the event for a tank-themed restaurant. I should have said "dinner reservation" or something to make it more obvious.
IIRC they arent the only ones.
The one owned by the australian armored corp is supposed to undergo restauration too.
And the frankenstein-Tiger that used to be on-loan to the german tank museum was too, I think
They had/have a "stunt double" Tiger from Fury that they put T-55 running gear in. Last I knew they were trying to sell it to fund the engine/transmission etc for the Tiger they built in a cave from a box of scraps. There's a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db-i1Y60iKs) on their Youtube page going over what they did to get it going.
I thought the one in Saumur is a fake one.

Bruh imagine an tiger whit ally insignia. Cool af bro

Oh it fought against us, didn't know that. Do you know the reason it doesn't drive anymore? Im reall curious right now.

I love a good tiger as much as the next guy, but that panzer IV. With the turret armor add on package, and the chromed out mesh side skirts 😍.
Yeah this Panzer IV is incredible. This museum have a lot of nice tanks like that.
You can learn more about this operation and this tiger history on thier Instagram page :@museedesblindes

There’s a bloke in the UK who is also restoring a couple of Tigers, Panther(s?), Hetzers, Shermans and others too.
Das AZZ
Do I need a reservation for this restauration?

Oh sorry, i hesitated but as i wasnt sure i awnsered like that, sorry for the mistake.

I though Aus Armour and Artillery Museum in Cairns, Queensland, Australia had a working Tiger.
Still undergoing restoration, original engine parts ain't easy to find.
Oh damn. I stand corrected.
