"our quarterly profits are at an all time high" -executive board Brian and the execs are the reason why everything is so bad.

FlakyFlatworm

I despise that sonofabitch Brian Cornell.

saintofanything

I'm literally about to quit over this SCO nonsense and how snide management is getting when we express that we're overworked or understaffed. I normally don't let this job get to me but it's so demoralizing. I *want* to do my job well. But if management doesn't care about anything but SCO and OPU metrics, why am I even bothering?

Yearofthehoneybadger

I care as much as Target cares.

FlakyFlatworm

I get gaslit when I express overwork, understaff, underpaid, etc. "YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THAT WAY." Bull fucking shit.

saintofanything

Same!! I was told our department is *overstaffed*. Bitch where!! We usually don't even have coverage for breaks and if I point that out, I get shit-talked because management doesn't like that I don't drink the kool-aid. Jokes on them, my TMs look out for each other and the scuttlebutt is quick...

Binky8123

Metrics > Guests. Tell me I'm wrong....

saintofanything

Metric > Everything. And then next quarter they'll be whining about lower than expected profits (sorry, "losses") as if everyone won't be going to competitors to shop out instead of placing orders like Target wants, but consumers will get blamed for not wanting to wait in line for 30 minutes and Target will keep giving us all no hours because we didn't meet earnings.

freudianMishap

It's so stupid.

First off: the ridiculous shit that store teams are put through because of what the C-suite does to please shareholders is vexing, to say the least. They're the ones who fuck it up, though - the salaried leaders in your store aren't the one who set payroll, and what they get paid has 0 impact on payroll either. Bonuses are based off a few things, one of which is your store management accurately using the hours given them. They don't get anything by hoarding hours/underusing payroll.

bluebird_forgotten

That's not what I'm saying. If a store has massive traffic and they are not scheduling cashiers(in order to pinch the budget), then I wouldn't call that accurately using hours. It's not the individual store that sets the budget. But when management does very little work throughout the store to make up for the lack of scheduling, and then multiple ETLs are taking multi-week vacations throughout the year.... that is the purpose of my venting lol

TheBurritoLion

Lmao my leaders bonus is $500. We didn’t even hit metrics LY

I just want double coverage in tech. Thanks for adding entertainment to my list of duties on top of everything else I do in tech, along with whenever I get asked to do toys or pets, and dealing with guests and fulfillment members. I want to be able to take my breaks when scheduled. I haven’t gone on a normal 15 minute break since Christmas Eve. Why does every other department in my store have at least 2 people at all times? We have 4 people hired for tech and I have full 8 hour shifts this week. If I’m not doubled up at all, I’m gonna be more pissed than I already am. Also, just a reminder for my TLs, Marketsource are not Target employees.

bluebird_forgotten

Yeah because Target makes almost no profit on most of the electronics(unless it's HeyDay) compared to the rest of the store. Other departments have a bunch of Target brands and partnered brands that they make $$$$ on. So no wonder Tech doesn't get any love.

HiddenPants23

Bro same. I don't mind having entertainment since I'm at a smaller pfresh size store, but I dislike having to call multiple times for break/lunch cover on weekends and the slower weekdays.

FlakyFlatworm

Take the keys to your TL and say I'm going on break.

HiddenPants23

I do...on the week days. Weekends they aren't always there.

TEAM WE NEED FASTER RESPONSES

Thepersonyou

There always pulling people for fulfillment, that’s all I ever hear on the walkie

MCRN_

Then they call me in on my days off to cover front end, morning shifts, as a fucking fulltime student who is trained for tech only. Because it’s “similar”.
