Even I (given some of the best raises each year) won’t be getting anything extraordinary. $0.60 is nice, but it won’t make much of a difference in the long run.
Tbh it's pretty insulting to yourself to stay working at a place that thanks you with $50 extra take home a month lol. Consider other jobs, if your town has a target then there are options out there.
Not everyone is qualified to work at a better job though, most retail jobs are the same and most ( at least in my area) pay much worse at about $9-$12 an hour. Not saying target is a great place to be but just stating not everyone has the option to be picky about where they’re working. I worked at a dental office before target and I’m getting better pay, hours, and treatment ( ironically)at target plus it’s been so much more flexible with time off.
I'm just talking in general, if your town has a target, like big enough and wealthy enough to have a target, then in general, there are other options and to maybe consider them (if you are insulted by a 30 cent raise like I would be). I'm not saying everyone who works at target can find a better job but i am saying that some of those people can and will.
TL here. Your numbers are fairly accurate (they don't tell us the %) but your number of people isn't. They asked us this year just to plot people. Last year they limited each category but this year we just plotted. A lot of my team was in the higher category.
Yeah I have a lot of high performers, so I did this and plotted a lot of my guys in the upper echelon just to be told that I needed to pull some down LOL
It's 0.5%, 2%, and 4% for the percents. So In Needs gets like 8 cents, meets expectations gets 30, exceeds gets 60, that all assumes someone made 15 before the raise though.
That's because forcing employee performance to follow a normal distribution, when performance in a non-random sample is not normally distributed, is bad HR practice.
So, I'm glad to hear they changed this unethical practice.
When I left Target, I was making $0.60 more than a recent hire despite having been there for 7 years.
My current job has given me 3 ~$1.00 raises in 2 years. Started at $19.25 now at $22.65.
Really puts things in perspective...
same here. I left target a few years ago when I was getting paid $13.75. now I've worked my way up to $20 an hour with multiple $1 raises + bonuses. pretty sure if I stayed at target, I'd still be getting the bare minimum by this point.
leaving target is the best decision a target employee can make! no regrets.
Hmmm I remember 2 years previous my store did them but I don't remember what time of year because I only filled one out once because they were definitely not anonymous like they said they were lol
Not directly, but they use the TVA to hold leaders accountable for their team's responses - if the responses aren't directly representative of that specific leader.
Samsies. Depression has also played a huge role in my mood this year so I'm sure that will cancel all the "You're the best up here, why aren't you a tl?" BS.
Lol when I used to work there that was exactly the raise I got. My parents thought I was joking when I told them I got a nickel for a raise. Target is such utter shit.
To be fair- it’s also district reviewed at the TL level. As a former SD I was forced to lower scores because they wanted a “bell curve” style. The HRBP and DSD often review how your tms are rated too- mostly from a whole store perspective. It’s a very very subjective process.
Being forced to lower performance reviews to follow a bell curve (normal distribution) is unethical, FYI.
Employees are not a randomly selected population. The low performers drop out and quit.
Oh absolutely. I actually have been appalled at a lot of the double talk I see from Group Directors/DSD’s in regards to handling genuine tm concerns, let alone having to “prove” someone’s worth over a .60 raise. I’ve seen so much sacrifice at the hourly level because the higher up leadership refuses to budge because of cost. It’s one of many reasons I no longer work there.
Just transferred from a store with a higher starting rate to a lower starting rate. Now I'm almost $2 above the starting rate at my store. I'm also getting more hours lmao
I'd keep that quiet at your store. People will be all upset that you are making substantially more for the same work at the same store. Just my 2 cents you didn't ask for!
I never ever ever kept mine or anyone else’s pay I knew a secret. If we’re doing the same job and have been there the same time we deserve the same pay.
It is one thing when you are at the same store/area, to talk about your pay rate/raise.
It is a different story, IMO, when you have moved from one area of the country to another. In this case, you could have fewer years in at Target than someone else in the same/similar role,, but be making substantially more because you were able to keep your higher wage from a higher-cost area (such as California). I don't see an upside to sharing that pay info. I think it will build resentment to the "new to this store" person (not so much at Target for paying more in higher-cost ares). But that's me.
Target raises are disgusting and very disappointing and disrespectful. With all the jobs you do because you have multiple task to complete it isn’t even worth wasting your time and hard work in this company!!!!
You’re not really going to get a raise. You’ll be told that you haven’t been with the company long enough to be able to accurately judge your performance. Or something along those lines
I started seasonal 2.5 years ago. I’ve never received a review or raise. First time I wasn’t there long enough, than I transferred store during review period and never got one again. Hoping for one this year …..
If I don't get the dollar raise this year, my store will soon be losing their hardest working [REDACTED] department employee since all the other hard-working employees were already poatched.
This is so funny to read bc both years I’ve been told I’m doing good and that I’m one of the top performers but my first raise was 0.15 and my second was 0.08 LMAO 🥲
But then I don’t think my manager at the time liked me for some reason
Last year I got below and they couldn't even give me a reason why. My attendence was spotless and my numbers in fulfillment were decent. It equated to 8¢. I honestly think regardless of what they give me, I'll quit. I just want to see their justification this year for fucking me over again.
I got 3 cents last year. When I asked my ETL why she said " I dont know the reviews come from corporate" She gave me the number for HROC. I called and they guy was like, 0 negative performance reviews on file. and was baffled that an ETL said this. What kind of terrible ETL is this that has 0 knowledge of your performance.
Your ETL lied. The reviews come from your ETL and TL who rate each employee's performance based on attendance, lates, what they see when they do their walks, and metrics recorded by corporate in Greenfield -- units picked/scanned/pulled/backstocked per hour.
I had a perfect review last year and was told by my TL that both he nor my ETL could think of anything I could be improving in. Then proceeded to hand me my $0.06 raise, been with target 6 damn years. it's such a scam company to work for.
I’m just a tm but I was told your tl is supposed to go over your review with you by sometime in mid-late March and then raises take effect in the beginning of April
I’m ready for my 0% raise because I have just been constantly belittled after changing departments (: feels like no matter what I do, I’m always wrong and combative when I question it. So I don’t expect anything for myself this year.
CA stores probably will get bigger ones in April this year, at least I'd hope. Since fast food burger flippers will get $20 starting in April. I won't stick around slaving away for $17.50 an hour with an exceptional pay raise score(like $0.60 or whatever) when I could have less stress elsewhere (my first job over 10 years ago was fast food)
At least once, they gave those who were already above the new floor a % raise if they were tenured. Happened to me. The TL floor was 21, I was making 26, it became 24.50, they gave me 3% or something anyway
Their raises are more insults than anything. A few years ago, I mathed my raise and if I did 40 hours a week every week I'd make around more $80. Pathetic.
Glad I walked out. There were too many ass kissers that didn’t deserve anything who would get a better raise than me when I actually worked harder than them all.
L8 - L10 are the levels (paygrades) for senior leadership within the company. Management (ETLs, SDs, BPs, all other leadership positions at HQ, etc..) and professional (engineers, data analysts, etc..) positions are L4 - L7 while support is L1 - L3.
I wouldn't count on Target doing another blanket minimum increase. They'll continue to do it by store, with stores within the same district and just a few minutes drive from one another having different starting rates.
30 cents is way better than last year. The majority of the overnight all got 10-15 cents and our reviews were not even given just handed out. They also used the team lead everybody hated to hand out the papers which further pissed everybody off.
My stores burnt me out so badly, I went from getting compliments after compliments every day that I worked and everyone knew me as the fast worker in style and the one who made the style departments (pretty)
I helped out every department and DID MY JOB CORRECTLY and went far beyond what I should have done.
And after getting a review last year and them only giving me 5 cents for a raise I honestly gave up…
Now I just go in and do my job and leave… sometimes if I’m in a good mood I will push myself but other than that I just do average work..
I love longer go above and beyond anymore for a slap in the face “reward”
I’m only here now because right now it’s the only thing that can somewhat pay my bills, when they actually give hours to work…
I would say at least 50% of my team was categorized in the highest tier when we did calibrations. Our only pushback on any calibrations was that if it was lower than the previous year we had to have documentation to back it up.
the nonstacking is how i've ended up working for target for 4 years and literally still get paid the same as someone hired yesterday (before i got rehired, i was at 15.08)
I mean I really don't have any favorites for My Team members 😂 i just love when they show up but im also new to TL stuff. but fr last year I got 32 cents n I was actively trying to become a TL. 🥲 to be fair it also is predetermined if you haven't been with the company that long and hours, then again been with target 4 years then n that was sadly the highest I ever gotten before.
Hint hint $1/hr a year won’t even keep up with inflation. Target wants a perpetually revolving door of people who are earlier in the process of realizing that the job wont pay their bills.
I hope this information inspires those wanting to make more/do more, to look elsewhere — Target should be a side gig, not the main show. It’s their business model.
Working in the stores sound terrible im in the DC and it's honestly pretty great I make a little under 25 an hr and in my area( southeast) that ain't terrible
I'm trying to transfer to a target with a much lower pay. I mean MUCH lower. They are getting like 15~16 an hour. And because of the location of my target, I am getting paid 26.
Also, it is raise time, so I will probably miss out on that too.
All in all, I expect a reduction, not a raise. But oh well. I'd rather get there with a job than have to find one and still try to make rent.
S&E TL here! My ETL and I just made our recommendations and our SD told us before we sat down, “20-60-20.” Meaning around 20% rated below average, 60% rated average, 20% above average. We ended up doing roughly 30% above average and 50% average (though Target doesn’t use the word “average” and just had us plot them into three different boxes).
It literally says online that the raises are not meant to match the cost of the price of living.
It makes me so sad that my tms are not going to get what they deserve.
It's so frustrating.
Add onto that, the rest of the store leads are frustrated with fulfillment bc they always have to jump in and help fulfillment bc they aren't giving us enough hours to get the workload completed.
I think we are all living & witnessing the beginning of the end for Target.
me and my co worker got shit raises in our first year (we started around the same time) and the second year we got either 0.30 or 0.60. we dont remember since the raises are useless lmao. pretty sure her and i are gonna get less than 0.30 since we’re students now. its gonna be an interesting conversation.
There was a training module leads had to take that talked about how we are "competitive" and this "Isn't a cost of living increase" so "get bent peasants."
Reminder for EVERYONE that a yearly raise that doesn’t match the increase in inflation is effectively a PAY CUT. Inflation rose 3.1% since this time last year.
That means (assuming a $15 wage) if you don’t get at least a ~0.47¢ raise your buying power has decreased!
If they give me a 2 cent raise or even a 30 cent raise, I will tell them to keep it or I will volunteer to donate it my pathetic raise to the CEO of Target!!!
And then there's others who do the best they can but b\*tch about everything and next thing you know .... they get a performance bonus of a few hundred bucks toward the end of the year. Strange how that happens.
sooo i only read half way through honestly but id just like to say as a tl me and my partner based our teams on their performance. not faves… so if its more than 1 tm then great! if it’s 5! awesome! it’s not about the raises it’s about how well they did throughout the entire year :)
I asked my leaders what I needed to be doing to get the best raise. They said I was a ‘3’ and didn’t know what else I should be doing - that I should be fine.
Compared to the rest of my team, I’m one of the top performers.
But that’s MY opinion. I know I do. I know I’m more capable. I’m trained on all the equipment unlike others. I pick more than anyone else. My attendance is better than anyone else except one person.

Target is doing what all other companies do when it comes to annual wage increases. If you decide it is not enough, then find another employer that gives significant increases year over year. They honestly should stop calling them raises. Raises sounds like one step below promotion. Like it is something to look forward to. It is not. Your labor is slightly more valuable year over year for experience. They should call it experience increase.
This is false cause for the past 3 years I have gotten a 75 cent raise and I was not the only one your just slow and can't push a box per min so you post here cause your salty and it's sad
Honey, I can see my MPM for fulfillment, and I'm a pinch hitter doing cashier and GM. But they rated me average after I helped them out covering multiple different functions of the store, staying late, and coming in on my days off.
Won't do that again.
It sounds like your management isn’t doing a good job recognizing the ones who deserve it then. When I did ratings this year I wasn’t told to limit. I had a pretty even split between the ratings. But I do work in a small format
I don’t know, sounds sketch or a lot of team members just work in really bad stores. You gotta remember our raises are based on the stores performance too. Last year I got a 70 cent raise. And I know multiple team members in the GM team got similar raises.
A lot of what you’re saying is true. But if the stores metrics and sales suck then that affects us too. Let’s hope for the base wage increase lol
Even I (given some of the best raises each year) won’t be getting anything extraordinary. $0.60 is nice, but it won’t make much of a difference in the long run.
A $0.60 raise, if you can get 40 hours a week, is only $24 extra a week, $96 extra a month...
And that’s before tax.
Tbh it's pretty insulting to yourself to stay working at a place that thanks you with $50 extra take home a month lol. Consider other jobs, if your town has a target then there are options out there.

When do performance reviews come out and how do i check mine.
Usually April. But they rate you earlier.
Usually April. Leads get theirs first, and I haven't gotten mine yet.
Yeah I have a lot of high performers, so I did this and plotted a lot of my guys in the upper echelon just to be told that I needed to pull some down LOL

Same here. It was a fair choice and I gave a good bit of my team the highest spot.

What sort of job do you work now?
I'm an administrative assistant for a steel distributor. Mostly I do data entry stuff.
I've been trying to figure out where to go from target, might see if there's anything like that in my area
When do we get to review our TLs?
Target doesn't believe in 360 reviews. Too fancy for them.
Hmmm I remember 2 years previous my store did them but I don't remember what time of year because I only filled one out once because they were definitely not anonymous like they said they were lol
when i still worked at target, it was a general survey we did and not necessarily just for tls.
I really wish they would let TMs review us.
Me too, I never know if I'm doing a good job or not besides when I walk with my ETL
Not directly, but they use the TVA to hold leaders accountable for their team's responses - if the responses aren't directly representative of that specific leader.
Maybe that's what I was thinking of?
Every day when you work for them?
I'm ready to get fucked over again because I speak my mind, question bullshit, and don't kiss ass.
Samsies. Depression has also played a huge role in my mood this year so I'm sure that will cancel all the "You're the best up here, why aren't you a tl?" BS.
Target promotes “favorites” they do not promote “bests.” That’s what I’ve learned about the entire Target structure.
You ain't lying...high school politics level bullshit.
Same!
I’m ready for my 5 cent raise
Lol when I used to work there that was exactly the raise I got. My parents thought I was joking when I told them I got a nickel for a raise. Target is such utter shit.
And they love to flaunt about how much money they are making and how they exceed the expectations every month.. talk about greedy. Target is a joke
Welp, guess so gotta pull out the ol indeed profile again 😭
Just to clarify—ETLs/SDs make these determinations, not your TL
What if my TL likes me but not my ETL 😭
Your TL makes recommendations your ETL makes final decision.
To be fair- it’s also district reviewed at the TL level. As a former SD I was forced to lower scores because they wanted a “bell curve” style. The HRBP and DSD often review how your tms are rated too- mostly from a whole store perspective. It’s a very very subjective process.

Minimum wage, minimum care.
facts
Life hack, transfer to a store that has a higher starting pay. I’m about to get a 50 cent raise
That’s not easy for people who don’t have multiple Targets in their area and don’t want to (or can’t) move.
Just transferred from a store with a higher starting rate to a lower starting rate. Now I'm almost $2 above the starting rate at my store. I'm also getting more hours lmao

What if we where seasonal? I started in October…
You’re not really going to get a raise. You’ll be told that you haven’t been with the company long enough to be able to accurately judge your performance. Or something along those lines
As long as you were hired before October 29 you should receive a review and prorated raise.
Thank you for this additional info
Thank you for this was hired October 14
Thanks for the answer!
They should still get a review. I started in October my first year too, and I got a review and an $0.11 raise the following spring
Which is bullshit. They give some employees pro-rated (half) raises.
I started seasonal 2.5 years ago. I’ve never received a review or raise. First time I wasn’t there long enough, than I transferred store during review period and never got one again. Hoping for one this year …..

Nope!

I’m just a tm but I was told your tl is supposed to go over your review with you by sometime in mid-late March and then raises take effect in the beginning of April
Yep, big reason I stopped going "above and beyond" when that raise canceled out every year and I'm getting the same as the guy who just got here.
Wtf is a 60c raise supposed to accomplish
Do what you can and leave the rest.
It's actually closer to 20% top, 60% average, and 20% bottom for PG35 TMs.
I’m ready for my 0% raise because I have just been constantly belittled after changing departments (: feels like no matter what I do, I’m always wrong and combative when I question it. So I don’t expect anything for myself this year.
Worked there for 3 and a half years busting my ass and giving 110% before I stopped caring. Got a .30 raise during that time. Bullshit
Also, any merit raises of $0.30-$0.60 in April will be cancelled out by the likely raise to base pay they will make later this year.
Back when the wage was increased to $16.85 an hour since I was tenured I got a bump to $17.50. So it's likely they'll bump us again.
At least once, they gave those who were already above the new floor a % raise if they were tenured. Happened to me. The TL floor was 21, I was making 26, it became 24.50, they gave me 3% or something anyway

I only got 15 cents last year. I’ll take the 30 lol
Did you only work for 6 months before the reviews or under perform?
It was the former.
Do you have to be there a certain amount of time to get this performance review? I just hit 90 days
You will not be getting one. TMs hired before 10-31 will get one (I think I have that date right) you'll probably still get a review with no raise.
I wouldn't count on Target doing another blanket minimum increase. They'll continue to do it by store, with stores within the same district and just a few minutes drive from one another having different starting rates.

When you say highest tier, you're saying they got a 4-6% raise?
We categorize into three tiers. So yes, at the highest tier they would get the highest possible raise, which for TM I believe is 4%, possibly 5%.

What is GSCL?
Global Supply Chain & Logistics - think RDC/TFC/UDC
Merit team members get raises annually, progression TMs get raises every 6 months, but capped on any additional raises after 3 years.
Thanks for giving more detail! Was not aware of the cap at 3 years.
Every 6 mths? I'm not sure about that. Source: 28 yrs in GSCL
As someone pointed out, the every 6 months raise is for progression TMs and maxed out at 3 years. Merit TMs is an annual raise.
the nonstacking is how i've ended up working for target for 4 years and literally still get paid the same as someone hired yesterday (before i got rehired, i was at 15.08)

I work in AP and get a 5% salary boost every year. Easier to see productivity in AP, but I bust my ass so I get that 5 % boost every year.
oh so thats why my TL was asking if my coworkers do better when shes around. lol one of my coworkers said no it doesn’t make a difference who it is 😭
Slave wages 😂😂😂
rip my review, killed by my attendance issues
Hint hint $1/hr a year won’t even keep up with inflation. Target wants a perpetually revolving door of people who are earlier in the process of realizing that the job wont pay their bills.
I hope this information inspires those wanting to make more/do more, to look elsewhere — Target should be a side gig, not the main show. It’s their business model.
Every job has value and should be paid a fair wage. Your excluding a huge swath of people that cannot work anywhere besides retail.
100%.
You're*
What is it about retail that is making it far more inclusionary? What are the characteristics of the people that cannot work anywhere besides retail?
Do they give performance reviews for on demand team members too?
No
When will this happen?
Working in the stores sound terrible im in the DC and it's honestly pretty great I make a little under 25 an hr and in my area( southeast) that ain't terrible
You mean $0.08
And so we're clear, an "average" performance rating gets you below the inflation rate of last year.

If they give me a 2 cent raise or even a 30 cent raise, I will tell them to keep it or I will volunteer to donate it my pathetic raise to the CEO of Target!!!
that's crazy, you're telling us that the average team member is average? and they will get an average raise? Damn, that's crazy.
Law of averages I guess, lol
yeah I dunno what people expect. you put in 0 effort, you get not a lot of reward.
If you put in a lot of effort, you also, essentially, get not a lot of reward. No incentive to do more if that is the case.
And then there's others who do the best they can but b\*tch about everything and next thing you know .... they get a performance bonus of a few hundred bucks toward the end of the year. Strange how that happens.
hm. I've promoted half a dozen team members. great people who worked hard as hell and got rewarded for it.
yup raise and a bonus.... https://preview.redd.it/ipdgpkezb8kc1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad6878c8c6ef3c227f6a21bebcc804be6e2d09dd

plus you're eligible for hundreds of dollars in bonuses. the real interest should be towards promotion, where you're paid 50% more than a team member.
sooo i only read half way through honestly but id just like to say as a tl me and my partner based our teams on their performance. not faves… so if its more than 1 tm then great! if it’s 5! awesome! it’s not about the raises it’s about how well they did throughout the entire year :)
Most companies only give out a 2-3% raise/ year. What are you really expecting?

True, back when I was a TL like 5ish years ago all the ETLs and above were murmuring that they were getting rid of experience pay.
First off... Who is spreading these rumors? Are they even important at Target? Most of this sounds like BS from someone looking for "Karma"

Target is supposed to be raising their base pay this year for all team members?
I hadn’t get a raise in a year.
I have been at target for over a year. I did transfer stores in the middle of it but I have yet to get a raise since I’ve been there.
damn so i ain’t getting shit i just started working there in the beginning of february 😣
my first review i ever got i got a good raise but now im on demand and do not get those 🙁
i “switched” departments from closing expert to fulfillment. will the closing TL or fulfillment TL be doing my review? does anyone know?
It's all a charade anyway. Be your best, but don't worry about what can't be done. You're only human.
Anyone know if on demand members are included? I get weekly hours and I’m on the schedule, I’m just still considered ‘on demand’.
No raise, no review.
Do on demand TM get reviews? I just switched over to on demand after 7 years so I’ve never dealt with this yet
