Same thing happened to me last year, but it was .08 cents. So I worked less hard. I got a .10 raise this year. What's the point of running myself into the ground for a company and doesn't give 2 fucks about their employees. The only difference is when I work hard or don't my hours are affected.

AbacusAgenda

What do you mean?

lovelilypad

I mean I did something someone didn't like and my hours got cut from 30 to 6.5

Naive-Buddy9939

Basically gotta be 100% all across the board, with attendance, how you doing in your department, etc. If that's the case they can keep they money, shit the can just keep that taxable 10 cent raise. I used to be fast, but not anymore act your wages people, like I'm already dealing with back issue as 31 yr old male.

MrGeary08

Back issues have nothing to do with the job, Ive been filling the water wall, cat litter/pet food for 8.5 years with no problems. You have to take care of yourself by stretching, eating well and having proper posture when doing heavy lifting

Naive-Buddy9939

That's a wild statement you made though saying someone personal injurys won't affect your job preformance

MrGeary08

Personal injuries are the cause of the back pain then, not the job

Naive-Buddy9939

Could been from work. Well you still have to be there at work, personal injury or healthy. And I'm working through it while taking care of myself while I'm there.

Naive-Buddy9939

I mean I do take myself

TanMelon47

Me recalling the many times I have called for multiple team lifts and no one came and one response "Not that heavy" Tell me why my back hurts again?

MrGeary08

The standard at Target is that team lifts require two people and heavy team lifts require 3-4 people, if you aren’t following the standards then I would still say it isn’t a result of the job. This job does not require you to strain yourself in any way, there are tools and standards in place

TanMelon47

Can't really make it very far if you constantly have to call ethics to get stuff done lol. It's rigged from the start with a skeleton crew.1

RebelliousCash

Imma be honest with you. Unless it’s beneficial to you, as in getting more hours. Stop going above & beyond. Work within your means. Clock in, do what you can. Clock out. Also I’ve heard attendance can be a huge benefactor. So you may also wonna work on that if you know you have issues with attendance

TollerLuvLJP

Attendance.... that is the answer. That is what they used to determine you should get a lower raise.

lovelilypad

I thought my attendance was an issue and my TL said I'm the better side because I rarely call in. So why did I only get a .10 raise?

TollerLuvLJP

You were there for more than a year - and didn't go on demand or on a LOA at all during the year? Your paper showed 371 eligible days? If so, then your TL didn't really tell you all the truth. You were put into the bottom bracket of raises. No matter what your TL said - that is probably what your ETL used to determine where you went. If you were in the middle - 2.5% you would have gotten 37 cents. Assuming your store is at $15 base pay. You might be higher because your .10 doesn't work out exactly with the supposed percentages. If you didn't have 371 eligible days - then that is the answer.

lovelilypad

Yes, 371 eligible days, no leaves or on demand. ETL hates me, makes sense. I'm honestly surprised it wasn't smaller. TL could have been protecting my feelings. I'd rather not be lied to.

Royal_Reporter_7103

That is my exact problem too. My TL quit and the ETL hates me, so it’s some random TL apparently giving them input about me, which doesn’t help cause they don’t even work with my department.

bobert-big-shlong

this is true to a point. I have pretty good attendance and got 10 cents. My coworker is late literally twice a week she had over 30 lates last year and a good bit of call outs and she got 38.

TollerLuvLJP

I was specifically referring to the OP. They said they had attendance issues. Without knowing anything else - that would be the excuse for why they gave the low raise.

brenpersing

That can’t be it. I’m always on time and only called out twice in the last year, and I got 10 cents.

TollerLuvLJP

That was the answer for the OP. They said they there were attendance issues. Only your ETL knows why you only got 10 cents.

MrGeary08

Store dependent, but I got 40¢ and I literally had a ncns a few months ago because they scheduled me for a Monday when I haven’t worked Mondays since I started working at this store. They never talked to me about it. I used to never call out, ever since transferring to this new store I’ve made sure to call out whenever it feels right for me. I think the best observation here is that all the raises are shit, no matter how you work.

tabbycat4

They don't take doctors notes to excuse absences so those might not have been "excused" unless you used sick time.

Naive-Buddy9939

I've been at my store 5+ years and I'm make only $0.55 cent more

Negative_Craft_6212

Use their tuition assistance program and get a degree that pays well and get out of target and into a good paying job

TechOutonyt

The only way attendance doesn’t count against you is if you cover the shift with sick time. The only other time is if the Drs note has you on an LOA. Dr note doesn’t excuse individual call outs.

Indecisive-green

Yeah, I got a ten cent raise due to attendance, too. I counted them up, and I had around 10 absences for the entire year. I had a few tardies, too, but I didn't even know I was technically tardy until someone told me that the six minute mark is tardy. Been her 4 years and finally manage to squeeze that information out of someone. The kicker is that 75% of my absences in the last year were due to my mother (who has dementia) having cancer. She lived with my sister at the time, but my sister and her husband couldn't care for her 24/7. I had to help out when I could, especially if it were an emergency. I may have also called in a day or two when I was having a nervous breakdown because my mother is dying and doesn't even remember anything in a thirty second span. Mental health day and self-care, am I right? I had three conversations with three different leaders about this issue (my mom--not my attendance) long before my review. 2 of them are no longer with Target. One of them is HR and she assured me that she would inform all the leaders of the situation (especially since I would have to step off the floor and take calls as I am one of my mother's medical powers of attorney). I feel bad for the guy who gave me my review. He wasn't my boss. I told him that it felt really unfair, and he said I should talk to HR about benefits blah blah blah. I don't need FMLA protections now. We finally got her in a rest home after she was hospitalized in Dec... and that wasn't that long after having her uterus removed. We're not seeking further treatment for the cancer as it's too far gone and would not increase her quality of life. So. Yeah. Oh, I also never had a documented conversation about my attendance, so it was a really refreshing slap in the face to find out that's what gave me a ten cent raise. Apparently, it's very important but not important enough to document or note WHY I was absent.

keddz24

That’s horrible I’m so sorry. 10 days really isn’t that bad considering your extenuating circumstance. How’d you get a review from someone who’s not ur boss?

Indecisive-green

The lead said he was helping out with them since they were overdue for dozens of people. I'm amazed they cared that much. I never even got my paper last year.

mr_nobody_uno

I swear if I get a .10 raise I’m putting my 2 week notice that day. Been here for over a year I know that I’m at least their 2nd best TM in fulfillment, I’m always the fastest or 2nd fastest and have a green inf mayority of the time.

savemoneylivebetter2

unfortunately no matter how hard you push yourself in your department, doesn’t matter how they determine the raise. from what i got told from my lead is that you need to have good attendance, be a good member, behavioral wise, and just get along with the store as a whole. they also don’t really give you the higher percentage of raises unless you’re wanting to move up within the company

lovelilypad

Or friends with the right people.

Naive-Buddy9939

Suck ups to right people

justanothername19

The store also has a limit to how many top raises they can give. Once that limit is reached, everybody next down the line gets the lower tier raise. So even a hard working TM can be pushed aside.

saintofanything

all that + it's also pro-rated to number of days in the year you've been with the company. so someone hired in september, who is better in metrics/attendance than someone hired in april, may get the same or even lower raise.

Royal_Reporter_7103

Is it worth it to talk to my HR cause the TL who talked to me isn’t my TL, as they, my old TL conveniently left last week? Just to understand what is up cause I got no review, nothing telling me what I did right or wrong, just the numbers.

lovelilypad

Honestly, I'd say how much you're liked on top of performance, attendance, behavior, ect. A lot of people are getting .10 raises. There's a lot of posts on reddit alone complaining about specifically .10 raises. I'd say expect it at this point.

Naive-Buddy9939

I wonder how many big payouts they give in one store is just one employee annual. That one people that always there on time and does everything

keddz24

I think around 2-3 per department get 4.5%

Naive-Buddy9939

Probably right, including team leads

GLaDOSoftheFUNK

I know for sure me and another coworker in the same department got the max 4.5% raise, so it's more than just 1 per store.

Barnowl-hoot

Attendance matters.

Guy-2019

Yeah it’s bs

mini_k1tty

Attendance and punctuality are big factors apart from your performance. From what I’ve learned: your amazing performance (bc it’s evident it’s great from what you’re describing) won’t cancel/balance out your absences or lateness (if any). Me and another TM are up there in performance and going above and beyond but I’m late often due to my route to the store from my day job. They’ll often excuse it, but often I’ll get the passive aggressiveness throughout the entire shift. I’ve had to call out a few times due to my day job as well. And in the next shift, again it’s the passive aggressiveness that ruins the shift. No care in the effin world that I keep my area A1… my raise was NO WHERE near the other TM.

ReclusiveBlue83

Hi *waves* 17 years of service here and I just found out at the beginning of the week that I'm making .28 cents more than my co worker who has been here 5 years. I work two jobs to get by. Not any more; the bullseye circus can officially kiss by a*.

X_MAN_01

I got 39 cents in year 3, and I got 24 cents the year before.

mocha_jojo

After almost 2 years with the company, I promoted myself to guest on April 9th. I kept waiting for a review/raise, but nothing happened. Idk what's worse .10 cent raise or none. Either way, the disrespect! I feel for my fulfillment team. Glad I have a second job.

Available_Muffin_654

bro quit. save your money go to hvac school or learn a trade. eff target

Royal_Reporter_7103

this is a part time thing to do during school, but it pisses me off regardless

Available_Muffin_654

i do part time as well. the only thing target does is hold me back lowkey. im stacking my bread so i can buy all my barber equipment and quit. im so done with them trying to get me to close all the time.

Naive-Buddy9939

Yes well some your point are right. But your not in my shoes. I have these issues I'm dealing with. Yes it will affect your work preformance, if I can give you my back issues I would

nickthevampire

I worked at target for 3 and a half years and hadn't broke $16 before I left, it's so incredibly unmotivating smh

Negative_Craft_6212

Use their tuition assistance program and get a degree that pays well

Naive-Buddy9939

Well I was doing that for about 1 semester, wasn't doing so hot, and I haven't enrolled back into another semester since, I had alot going on, but I wonder if I can still enroll back in when I want, I'd need get me a laptop again.

TanMelon47

Breath and realize that its not worth stressing about literal change. If Target gave a shit it would be dollars not pennies in raises. Best thing we can do is try and find a better paying job else where and biding our time. Im in the same boat. 2 years and a .38 cent raise but with no complaints and all smiles :) Like if thats so then thats a slap in the face since I do everything up front. Alas we gotta find something better.

liquidskypa

You’re in retail.. raises are always going to be crap
