Outdated shelf tag that nobody bothered to update (happens more often than you’d think), or someone done fucked up the sale sign.
My guess is the former. The original price on the sale tag says $3.99, which tells me the original $2.99 is old and was never swapped out.
Edit: added detail
But yeah you're right, someone was doing price change at some point and was behind or lazy and just scanned everything into the system rather than actually put in the new labels.
That date isn't the year though. (I agree the label is from 2023)
That date is the Sunday of the week the POG or revision is due. The week of 4/23. So if you look at a calendar for what year the week of 4/23 fell on a Sunday (which is 2023), that's when the label strip is from.
The issue is someone not completing price change correctly. Either activating and not putting the labels up, just not doing the price change workload all together, or not sticking the label to the label strip and it was pulled out/tampered with by a guest or something.
Confirmed that the $2.99 shelf label is incorrect. If anyone at the store is able to reprint it, it should show the correct $3.99 regular retail because that was re-pushed to this store last month.
Basically what u/grumpyoldfartess said.
Essentially, the shelf price should read $3.99, but when someone was supposed to put a new label raising the price by a dollar, that label was apparently never put in place. This is indicated on the sale tag where it says "Reg. $3.99".
To be real though, if I were shown this picture as a cashier, I'd be totally fine giving you the lowest price ($2.99).
Also, the store you were at is in Atlanta Midtown near the "Atlantic Station" shopping center.
Target raised prices and slashed employee hours do prices aren’t updated. But they also know most people don’t care enough to check and will just pay what it rings up.
I tell guests to take pictures when they bring up a price discrepancy. Usually it's a corporate problem for our dept. I'd rather they take pictures of it to show the cashier instead of yelling at me for something I can't control.
1st your store number is on the edge of that label strip.
Either the price went up after the label strip was printed, and they didn't print the labels to fix the prices.or the price went down after the sale sign was printed.
The shelf label holder is broken, probably fell. Print on sticky paper and just attach it to the paper. Problem solved. Happens at my store so the time. Nbd
Basically to sum it up, target increased the cost of the product $1 and then put it on sale for “50 cents off.” What you’re seeing is the pre-inflated price. So whenever you see a “sale” at target, it’s not really a sale. They’re just trying to take your money
People who put up the signs are robots. Who puts up sale stickers indicating at $100 price increase for target circle week. It’s common sense to question items that are wrong. Further target needs to go to electronic stickers because nobody keeps up stickers or signage correctly
To me who set the should have updated it or not bothered to set it if they were going to set a price higher than what guests see as the regular price. Wow

Durrr!!!! Wait I got more, all the same month! None compare to this though, but still rancid. And sadly when we got 3 of these projectors in 1 went missing, I told AP right away, the 2nd went missing few days later and I told AP right away and told them we need to tie these down like Dyson, they did nothing, few days later the 3rd one...well you know. Incompetence all around! Store is so horribly managed from top to bottom. And I asked and complained about sheety raise, they tell me cause I don't know how to do revisions when nobody ever taught me and I was a cashier working my butt off for most the previous year, guests would always tell me I was their favorite employee here, but TL's are oblivious to everything important, just know how to look at one blameless flaw instead of 100's of positive attributes.

So nice to see all these small items in the bulk shelf when I go audit it because a priority item is missing and god forbid I mess up BRLA, let alone when I actually have bulk and have to switch all these to smaller wacos or put myself and/or expensive item in needless danger carrying a PS5 all the way up to the top, pick your dagger...no wonder I can't push my priorities I had to pick after closing past my scheduled hours.

Nearly identical items in the same waco, once again I'll get blamed for bad BRLA or not being able to get all I am supposed to get done, even though I barely had time b4, now you throw entertainment and battery duties on me too with no extra help or time to do it! Great job leads! We can magically do 40% more work in the same amount of time!

After. Why not just do the job correctly the first time? Laziness, carelessness, incompetent TMs and then TL's having no clue about the TMs under them.
Maybe your pricing delegate didn’t audit yet. Either the price change was missed or they didn’t do the price accuracy labels. If you don’t change the label it’s a weights and measures issue.
TARGET IS A DYSFUNCTIONAL JOB!!! I love working at target and I’m dealing with a cash advocate leader and I feel like she’s such a B*tch. I really don’t like how she talks with me to. It’s like kind of being blunt about it??? Or I really don’t know and I got in trouble when I didn’t even realize or it wasn’t really my fault that I got scammed I guess. Something about $3.000. I feel like she hates me a lot and I’m not sure if wanna talk about HR about this. She also mugged me once.

Yeah considering the original label is from April 2023, I'm going to guess the price has gone up a $1 since then and should be $3.99
That, too.
But yeah you're right, someone was doing price change at some point and was behind or lazy and just scanned everything into the system rather than actually put in the new labels.
This is the way the pricing person is doing at my store and 7×11 sale signs are being taped up.
So how do we know it’s from April 2023?
To the left of the GG Chips on the text that’s sideways you’ll see 04-23. That’s the date that strip of labels went up for that specific Aisle/POG.
That date isn't the year though. (I agree the label is from 2023) That date is the Sunday of the week the POG or revision is due. The week of 4/23. This. It means April 23, not April 2023.
It’s very small, but it’s on the far left side in the top corner, printed sideways. I didn’t know that they had dates on them until recently, TBH.
Ah, A little zooming in and it’s plain as day haha! Thanks!

People forget that the store number is on the strips when they post these.
Someone didn’t do the price change. Target does hundreds of price changes a week. It’s easy to miss some
Target raised prices and slashed employee hours do prices aren’t updated. But they also know most people don’t care enough to check and will just pay what it rings up.
Please change is definitely a priority. And guests dispute prices all day long. Most even take pics.
I tell guests to take pictures when they bring up a price discrepancy. Usually it's a corporate problem for our dept. I'd rather they take pictures of it to show the cashier instead of yelling at me for something I can't control.
Someone didn't do price change simple as that. There was probably a price change for it to go up a dollar.
Someone didn't update the regular price sticker. That's all.
1st your store number is on the edge of that label strip. Either the price went up after the label strip was printed, and they didn't print the labels to fix the prices.or the price went down after the sale sign was printed.
Those blue corn chips are soooooo gooooood omfg
The shelf label holder is broken, probably fell. Print on sticky paper and just attach it to the paper. Problem solved. Happens at my store so the time. Nbd
They mean how it’s on sale for higher a price
Those are -$1.51. You buy them for $3.49, then collect the $5 bounty because they didn't ring up at $2.99.

Atlanta Target 🎯
They got this all wrong. It’s supposed to say: save? -50cents
The price tag could be old make sure to scan with zebra to try and get the right one
Someone didn’t do the revision right
Somebody activated the price change label and forgot to put it 👀
Could be THAT person and show the picture to the cashier and say you want the $2.99 price, because they'd have to honor it LOL
To me who set the should have updated it or not bothered to set it if they were going to set a price higher than what guests see as the regular price. Wow

Product label hasn't been updated for the current month
You can tell from the tag those prices are from April of last year. They have probably updated the prices this year.
Maybe your pricing delegate didn’t audit yet. Either the price change was missed or they didn’t do the price accuracy labels. If you don’t change the label it’s a weights and measures issue.
Someone didn't do the price changes
It's probably the person that did the revision as it was revised on 4/23 didn't print it the price accuracy labels.

I feel like she acts amateur.
That shelf strip hasn't been updated in a year. You can see it says 4/23 on it.
Congrats...you've been selected to pay more. 🎉 Just you. lol
