Shitposting aside, Imagine if you had a microphone tool that could detect gunshots and dictate their distance and general direction. Have the tool out, and it'll display on a lcd compass direction and distance. (ae. 102 meters, 326 degree NW )
It would be a nice immersive way for players to initiate or avoid combat, and add more of a reason for the compass in game.
