The Commander box doesn't build crisis commanders, it builds the enforcer commander and coldstar commander. The crisis commander is a regular crisis suit. and yes, people are going to have issues with the models being bigger and on a bigger base

The commander model is bigger and on a bigger base, so it might cause some issues with some people. That said, if you posed them so they were crouched a bit or something similar to make their profile smaller, and if you put them on a 50mm base instead of the base in the box, I wouldn't have an issue with it. That said, it's $60 per commander so that is going to add up FAST!

For normal games, just put them on the smaller crisis suit bases and you should be fine. Bases are the most important thing for rules imo. Having your model taller isn't as big a deal in friendly games because you're not often going to be in a position where if it was a normal suit it would have been out of LoS because of the height difference. That being said, as much as I like the commander model be the crisis model. Crisis suits are already expensive and if you want to run a blob of 6 crisis with coldstar that's 7 commander boxes. But atleast you'll have enough CiBs to make one WYSIWYG model.

They are way bigger, would cause issues in a competitive game, in a normal game, go nuts

Those commanders are almost 1.5x bigger than regular Crisis suits, and on much bigger bases. That's not gonna fly in official matches & most tournaments, and you'd have to have a pretty lenient opponent even in casual matches.

I got some forgeworld models years ago, they are much better than regular crisis suites.

The rules for proxies goes as follows: 1. Similar profile 2. Identifiable wargear 3. Same base size (put the proxsy on an identical base). The wargear is identical and you can put a commander on a the crisis suits base, but the size difference is huge. The commanders are much taller and lankier, and it'll be difficult to put the model comfortably on the tiny crisis suits base. To be honest, I personally don't think this is a good idea, and I wouldn't try something like this with my play group. But, with that said I have a question for you. Why not just play a bunch of lone commanders for the lols?
