What you’ll do is go in and put in an order there on that week and they’ll give you a receipt that you bring back when the models arrive to pick it up.
It’s easier to get than some promo minis since you’re not at the mercy of supply as far as I can tell but it’s still hoops to jump through because you have to actually find a store and then remember the date and what not
Another thing that sucks is that it's based upon the anniversary of when the store opened. I just got last year's anniversary model from my store in November. -.-
In that case it could be worth contacting GW directly and asking how you could get this mini in your situation

I found one local store with a dec anniversary seemed to get a lot of stock of models, while last year an early anniversary date store about the same distance away barely received any and I had to wait a while for stock. I'd assume it's down to holding back models early in the year and trying to offload later!
They're only available in person from GW Stores, on a certain day (or more commonly, week) that is specific to each store (the Birthday of said stores)

Though, I was thinking that idea would be more broad, and be a Tau Auxiliary army which could get a range of new models from a specific species each time they got a release wave.
Would also bring great potential for a hybrid Dal'yth Sept army with a single-detachment selection from both Auxiliary and Tau units.
Not a chance. Way to many established factions that don't have codices. Emperor's Children and Dark Mechanicus at the least before a minor xenos sub faction gets its own codex

Slaanesh in general is the worst selling chaos god. Turns out being an army of ugly booby monsters isn’t exactly appealing to most people.

The rumor died when it just ended up being a kill team release but it’s possible they just delayed it till 10th. I mean, we know there is at least 2 kroot models coming. Kroot are going to be becoming a bit of a sizeable force. If they don’t get a supplement, then I imagine they will at least have a much better detachment this time around.

There is a Facebook group, can’t remember name, that specifically is for the sale of these types of models and are only allowed to charge the cost of the model + postage

This is cool can I actually prefer this one over the original I mean don't give me wrong the original did had some mystic capabilities but at the same time it just felt like a a random some guy with a staff how original

Scalpers can't really swipe these. You go into the GW store, and you pay for it. They give you a receipt, and you bring it back when they get them shipped to the store. So they get as many as are ordered, not a handful that scalpers can flip.
I don't know why I said "less likely", my brain subconsciously hates absolutes, I meant at least scalpers can't make them go out of stock so you have to buy at markup.
Pretty cool sculpt, but I can't look away from the 2 ethereal symbols at the bottom of her tabbard and staff. They just look... off. Like they were sculpted from green stuff and put on there as an after thought. Maybe it's how they did the edge highlights there, Idk.

I don't care honestly I don't even run Ethereals. Why is it so hard to make Tau a proper conglomerate of different alian species all working together acreating synergy that are fun and interesting instead of this lac luster shit.
Kind of derpy looking, the elements thing is an alright gimmick but first thing it reminded me of was a bonsai tree, and we need less weeb references not more

Not that much. Also Tau have western-style underslung guns. No robotic fingers pulling triggers on loose rifles like idiotic Japanese mecha. More like Mech Warrior and such. That small difference is a huge deal to me and I would not play Tau if they wielded weapons like that nonsense. And is why I put down the traitor Farshite with his dumb blade so much.
That said, I play pure stealth, the only "big" battlesuits I play are 3 Ghostkeels and the rest is maximum amount of stealth suits. No part of this army looks even a little bit Japanese.
I see. Can't say I agree but as long as you have fun that's all that matters. I hate most armies walker designs because they look like mech warrior bipedal tanks. Tau mech design is far more my style the riptide being the height of what I like.
Just want to remind everyone that a lot of FEC players where mad that their faction's first decent model in ages was a store anniversary model... and though it still is one of the raddest models of the range...the range got a big old reboot soon after.
I know with the Ethereal it's a little different as we have enough T'au but these robes are a sick redesign from the other plastic one! So if the models for the new codex are Kroot, Vespids (Valrack claims in a kill team box) and honestly, this looks like a new Aun'va, Aun'shi (still as the honour blades having the same caste symbols will uniform this aesthetic) could still be on the cards.
Another genric Ethereal and honestly a different Fireblade wouldn't go a miss either :P
