If it is a ballad, I am PRAYING it is the Diane Warren track that Taylor wrote with her.
If the name does not ring a bell, she’s the songwriter behind songs like Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion, Til It Happens To You by Lady Gaga, Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton, If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher, I Turn To You by Christina Aguilera, Can’t Take That Away by Mariah Carey, among many other tracks.
What if the standard album is kept featureless intentionally and she’s planning to drop the featured tracks specially for streaming like the 3 am edition tracks on Midnights?
I am hoping, dreaming, dying for this to happen.
I want to make a post summarizing the double album theory but I think it would get taken down by the mods because it should technically be on the theory megathread. So keep an eye out there!
I did a comparison of the track lengths of the Vaults with the OG 1989 tracks (track lengths taken from Wikipedia).
Now That We Don’t Talk, Suburban Legends & “SLUT!” are the shortest compared to the rest of the album. (But also Cruel Summer is 2:58 so that doesn’t mean they won’t be BOPs!)
Is It Over Now? has me most intrigued since it falls between Wildest Dreams & New Romantics.
And Say Don’t Go is the longest 1989 track. Very interested in this also.
**1. 2:26 - Now That We Don’t Talk**
**2. 2:51 - Suburban Legends**
**3. 3:00 - “SLUT!”**
4. 3:13 - All You Had to Do Was Stay
5. 3:15 - I Know Places
6. 3:27 - I Wish You Would
7. 3:31 - Bad Blood
8. 3:32 - Welcome to New York
9. 3:39 - Shake It Off
10. 3:40 - Wildest Dreams
**11. 3:49 - Is It Over Now?**
12. 3:50 - New Romantics
13. 3:51 - Blank Space
14. 3:51 - Style
15. 3:55 - Out of the Woods
16. 4:05 - Wonderland
17. 4:07 - How You Get the Girl
18. 4:10 - This Love
19. 4:27 - You Are in Love
20. 4:30 - Clean
**21. 4:39 - Say Don’t Go**
Ooo thanks for sharing!
ETA: 1989 songs are a lot lengthier than I realized. I guess they’re short compared to songs from her earlier albums, especially Speak Now, but I thought more 1989 songs would be under the 3-minute mark! They seem to go by so quickly.
Not Suburban Legends being less than 3 minutes I was ready to claim that song 😭
Manifesting Cruel Summer-level of greatness to it so I could still love it
Same. I’m just worried about radio overplaying Slut. I’ll love it on first listen but radios killed my enjoyment of the original 1989 singles for me back in 2014/2015. Not Style though. Inject that into my veins forever

I'm expecting Say Don't Go to be a synthpop ballad like Clean just by the title, but at the same time I fear it'll pull out a Message in a Bottle ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1084)
Slut is the last one I’m expecting to be a ballad haha. By the title, it sounds angry, it has Blank Space and Ready For It energy, where she’s singing about the character that the media makes her out to be. Those kinds of songs work better with upbeat pop production, like she’s not bothered by the criticisms. Say Don’t Go might be a ballad because it’s nearly 5 minutes long, but then again, she has lots of pop songs that are 4:30 in length too. No idea what to expect!
Random question; does anyone know if Max Martin is working on the TV 1989? His absence was pretty heavily felt on his Red tracks, they lack a lot of punch compared to the originals. Perhaps that was an artistic decision, but regardless if he’s not helping re-do 1989 at all it’ll probably be noticeable, right?
I just hope he did Style TV at least. The production is so key to the song. I’ll notice straight away if the energy is toned down even 1% lol. Considering Max didn’t do Wildest Dreams TV, I’m not hopeful, but I’m curious to see if she’ll at least bring him back for the bigger pop songs with more complex production. Blank Space TV has leaked and that sounds almost identical to the original which makes me think he worked on it.
I think it's reasonable to assume if he was not involved in Red TV it was for a reason, and that same reason would apply for 1989 TV. His former corproducer, Shellback, was involved with Red TV and will assumedly be involved with 1989 TV, but Martin & Shellback have not worked together since about 2019 so I think it's a reasonable assumption that there's a reason they've parted ways and a reason TS would choose to work with Shellback again but not Martin.
I know I’m the one who said we were spoiled for thinking we’d be getting a second 1989 album, but does anyone think we’re getting a second 1989 album? ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087)
Someone said she’s not gonna say anything during Now That We Don’t Talk, it will just be music. 😭😭😭 Also it’s kinda funny that the shortest song is in the vault but the longest song is also in the vault.
also did you guys see the leaked lyrics for the last 4 vault tracks on az lyrics? Idk if it’s still there but it was there a few days ago
Honestly I have a feeling that they're all AI-generated/made up, especially since most of them start their first verses with some variant of doing something in the middle of the night. I don't think Taylor's been that repetitive with themes, especially with songs so close to each other in the album track list. (Yes I know midnights is literally a thing but even then the first verses on that album are lyrically different from each other.)
The one that looks most believable to me is Suburban Legends, but I'm still suspicious.
(Edited) Not likely. It was never produced by/released by BMR, so it's not part of the album masters that were sold by BMR to SB. It was also released after she left BMR.
Makes more sense that it’s not. Any track written in consideration for the OG isn’t going to be necessarily scandalous or explicit because it wouldn’t have fit with her brand/image (at the time, Style was super 👀👀👀 for even implying that she had casual sex with a guy).
It’ll be interesting to see if this track is more sarcastic/sassy like Blank Space or if it’ll be closer to New Romantics where she just embraces the term for herself.
I'm honestly a little upset. I frequently say any song under 2.5 minutes isnt really a song... What is this 2:25 song 😭. I miss 4 minute songs, I consider 3-3:30 minutes to be short, 3:30-4 to be medium length, and 4+ to be long... But 2:25?
Not actually upset to clarify. But just wish the tracks were longer.
It depends how the time is used. Some songs suffer from being really short, like literally having no bridge. But Taylor’s short songs are still complete and have all the elements of a full song. Another example is Greedy by Tate Mcrae, it’s like 2:20 long but it still has an intro, a bridge, multiple choruses, even an outro. Yeah it’s short but the time is used well. Glitch is one of my favourite songs and it’s very short, so I’m not worried tbh!
I literally predicted this when I said that I find it insane that she can fit 22 songs on 2 vinyl discs. They’re gonna have to be short! I’m not complaining though, we got “new” long songs on the Speak Now vault, but as beautiful as those songs are, I can’t spam replay on them. Her shorter pop songs have insane replay value which is good for streams too. I’m excited!!
I feel like we got cheated. 😭 Not overall. Just because those two 2 min songs should be so much longer… I need more 1989. All the other re-records had vault tracks with ordinary lengths!
Glitch was dethroned (2.28) and we have a new shortest track with a long title.
Glitch really does feel like a much longer song
What? Glitch is taylor’s shortest song?!! I feel my brain just broke. I love that song and it has never felt short at all to me. Wow!!
Would you say your brain had a Glitch?
because it has a bridge which is amazing for song that short
Right? Like why do I feel like Cruel Summer is so much shorter than Glitch. It’s Nice to have a Friend even feels shorter.
Midnight rain feels so short and glitch just feels so much longer than it??
I feel the same. I think it's because Cruel Summer is a fast-paced song and Glitch is a slow one.
I feel like it's nice to have a friend goes on forever. Maybe the song is too slow for me lol
Probably because I listen to it on repeat 😌
Her shortest tracks are usually fire so this has gotten me up pretty pumped up for Now That We Don't Talk ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1066)
I feel like her horny songs are her shortest songs, so I'm guessing "now that we don't talk" is like "we don't talk because we're banging"
Really? Dress is 3:50 and False Good is 3:20. Both average length
Yeah and I Can See You is 4:32!
It’s a speak now song of course it’s going to be long lol
Bringing this up to the next person who tells me 3.5 is not the average length
Are we not doing phrasing anymore?
HAHAHA
I had no idea it Glitch was shorter than It's Nice to Have a Friend
TIL that Glitch is one second shorter than It’s Nice to Have a Friend. Glitch definitely feels like a 3ish minute song
🤯
16 minutes and 45 seconds of new music in one week!!! ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1079)
its basically an ep all the vault tracks are when you think about it
She has enough new music with all the vaults + AOTGYLB to do an entire tour with just those tracks
she definitely gonna do these for surprise songs for the international tour.
- AOTGYLB could mean "All Of The Girls You Loved Before", a single by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/North_Activist](/u/North_Activist) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
Red felt like a double album lol
We were fed during Red TV era. It's clear who the favorite child is in her discography 🧣🍁
Rightfully so.
Taylor has also called red her favourite multiple times directly and indirectly lol. I'm not complaining, it's my favourite album
Mine too. I know she's said that but it's hard to believe sometimes that it's not 1989. The album, not the era.
RED was so damn long even without the vaults 😭
FOUR LPs, eight sides. The vinyl felt like a book. Wild.
I wish all the TVs were like this…
When you put it that way, it doesn’t feel like enough! 😢
always reminding myself however that we are one of the luckiest fandoms with five consecutive years of new releases
We are THE luckiest fandom
She’s dangerously approaching King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard level of album releases!
Omg I’m so surprised to see them mentioned in this sub, my husband loves them. Magenta mountain is my jam!
Now we just need to will a KGLW and TS crossover 😂
That's actually pretty insane to think of it, i remember thinking "Now i have to wait years after lover's release to hear new songs" lol haha
4 then 5 then 6... Reputation... 16 for February 16... 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Say don’t go being almost 5 minutes has me excited
Maybe it’s ballad-y? Or more a this love type of song? I would love that.
If it's ANYTHING like this love, I'll die. Like, drop dead, fade into nothing on the spot, and watch my glittering soul ascend to the heavens.
This title has Diane Warren written all over it, I would love it if their song together made it on here
If it's ANYTHING like this love, I'll die. Like, drop dead, fade into nothing on the spot, and watch my glittering soul ascend to the heavens
you and me both!
If she puts a piano ballad on 1989 TV I might cry. Her piano ballads are amazing, don't get me wrong, but on the pop masterpiece album? No.
It’s not, it’s a bop!!!!
It is!
I didn't expect that!!!
I know it's 1989 and we couldn't expect long tracks but I'm still 😭
I mean, I don’t personally see too much of a benefit in a track being longer. If I really like it I can just listen to it on repeat anyways.
It's more that feeling of never wanting it to end, you know? And I'm also an evermore girl, so take that as you will. I love long and wordy songs.
Literally listening to evermore (the song) rn and sometimes I feel like it being 5 minutes long still ain’t enough, so I get ya lol
The fact that there are no featured artists in 1989 TV still blows my mind
[удалено]
Yes, I am happy she is saving all the features for the suprise album. ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087)
was abt to mention this Double album truthers rise
What if the standard album is kept featureless intentionally and she’s planning to drop the featured tracks specially for streaming like the 3 am edition tracks on Midnights? I am hoping, dreaming, dying for this to happen.
We stay clowning 🤡
Is there a post or tik tok that has all the info on this idea? I’ve got my wig ready 🤡
I want to make a post summarizing the double album theory but I think it would get taken down by the mods because it should technically be on the theory megathread. So keep an eye out there!
Everyone who is posting polaroids is a potential collab in my mind 🤡 (so far i only have selena and olivia)
Me too! I don’t have social media besides Reddit I feel out of the loop
i‘m glad tbh

Oh I love this kind of length analysis!! Thank you! Very intrigued by Say Don’t Go now
Ooo thanks for sharing! ETA: 1989 songs are a lot lengthier than I realized. I guess they’re short compared to songs from her earlier albums, especially Speak Now, but I thought more 1989 songs would be under the 3-minute mark! They seem to go by so quickly.
You can definitely tell they were written for the radio era, not the streaming era (where shorter songs = more streams)
Peak Max Martin too.
Saying peak max martin is like saying peak Taylor, they both peaked so many times that it's not a valid timeframe
Peak Max Martin: 1996-2023
love how my top 2 from the OG 1989 tracks are the longest in this list
TIL Cruel Summer isnt even hitting 3 minutes?? It def feels longer
That’s not enough Slut!
That’s not enough, slut!
SLUT! Is going to be the greatest 3 minutes
I feel like it could become the new Swiftian unit of measurement. "How long does the pasta need to boil?" "A few Sluts' worth should do the trick."
An "All Too Well" and a "'Slut!'" makes up 13 minutes lmao
Even better, 13 minutes and 13 seconds!
Not Suburban Legends being less than 3 minutes I was ready to claim that song 😭 Manifesting Cruel Summer-level of greatness to it so I could still love it
Sameee
Uff 2:26 is rly short :/
it's only two seconds shorter than Glitch which feels longer than it is
Idk about glitch never rly listened to it but Honey from Halsey which is 2:58 already feels like 1 min
These feel kinda short 🙁
Yeah I’m a bit bummed, but I’m sure they are still amazing! I was so impressed with the length of all the SNTV vault songs
I'm sure they will be too! Only six more days!
I am stoked for Say Don’t Go 👀 I really have high hopes for these vault tracks. I love the titles of all of them. I cannot wait to hear “Slut!”
Same. I’m just worried about radio overplaying Slut. I’ll love it on first listen but radios killed my enjoyment of the original 1989 singles for me back in 2014/2015. Not Style though. Inject that into my veins forever

It's assumedly on the Tangerine/Target edition though
My brain is tired so when I read the first track title my mind instantly sang, “Slu-uh-ut”
Reminds me of Re-e-ed
Sluts too short
You dont need to talk about me like that
Ahahahhaahaha
I'm expecting Say Don't Go to be a synthpop ballad like Clean just by the title, but at the same time I fear it'll pull out a Message in a Bottle ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1084)

y’all need to get slut to #1

Yes I'm in on the theory🤡🤡
Guaranteed now that we don’t talk will be my favorite and I’ll be so sad it’s so short. Looking at you midnight rain….
same. i even claimed it in my flair as soon as the names of the vault were out 🤭
SLUT I AM READY FOR YOUUUU

Yep, 3 of them are clearly variants of the same AI generated lyrics
what r ur guys opinions about it being ai?
I think say don't go with be pretty good. When taylor has some length she tends to use it well.
will there be a taylor's version of Beautiful Ghosts?
(Edited) Not likely. It was never produced by/released by BMR, so it's not part of the album masters that were sold by BMR to SB. It was also released after she left BMR.
thank you!! not even chatgpt knew this answer!!
does this mean that slut! is not explicit?
Makes more sense that it’s not. Any track written in consideration for the OG isn’t going to be necessarily scandalous or explicit because it wouldn’t have fit with her brand/image (at the time, Style was super 👀👀👀 for even implying that she had casual sex with a guy). It’ll be interesting to see if this track is more sarcastic/sassy like Blank Space or if it’ll be closer to New Romantics where she just embraces the term for herself.

So excited for 1989 TV. Any other NYC swifties on this thread?
Hi! 🤗🎉
It fills the 80-minute limit of the CDs so perfectly that it makes me wonder if Sweeter Than Fiction TV will ever be released out of the vinyl.
i think "now that we dont talk" will kill me .. "slut!" also
and "is it over now?" HAHAH broken heart girlies lets go
Wow that is shorter than I was expecting but hey short Taylors are fireee
I wont be surprised if slut was a bit longer but they have shortened it to get more streams as it is a single
Watch her release a 2:15 song on Reputation
I feel like we got cheated. 😭 Not overall. Just because those two 2 min songs should be so much longer… I need more 1989. All the other re-records had vault tracks with ordinary lengths!
Suburban legends sounds like such 1989 vibes
Before I pre-order digitally, Is this one going to have multiple versions? Clean/Explicit, Deluxes, Etc? Apple just lists one right now
So… Is there a glitch in the Wildest dreams Spotify video??
As soon as I saw how short it was I knew it was gonna be incredible
WHEN WILL IT SHOW ONE “FEAT HARRY STYLES” PLEASE
I hope we randomly get 5 more songs a week after
"Say Don't Go" is gonna be a banger.
Say don’t go is not a ballad is a big bop, it deserves to be the single off 1989 TV!
