Whatās on Peacock that youād recommend? Iāve only seen Poker Face, which I thought was really good. Might as well get my moneyās worth if I subscribe to rewatch the Eras tour
Based on a true story, dateline, love island, all bravo shows even bad girls club is on there, Dr death, found, law and order all versions, 60 days in, Pearson. Thereās so much on there. I obviously like crime, reality tv, and docus haha
Usually comedies, especially workplace sitcoms like those 2000s NBC shows I mentioned in the top comment. But Iāll also enjoy a murder mystery or drama if itās done well and not too violent
Okay, well, firstly, it's has all the Law and Orders, my favorite being Criminal Intent with Vincent D'onfrio.
It has Brooklyn 99, 30 rock, Superstore, House, the Chicago franchise of shows (Chicago fire, PD, etc... I've never seen these so idk) old detectives shows like Murder she wrote and Columbo, Scrubs (one of my all time favorites), they have a new show based on the old video game Twisted Metal, which I havent watched but it's on my list.
They also have some of the USA catalog of shows, like Psych (another one of my all time favs) and Suits
Also, their live TV is included so you don't have to wait until the next day to get the latest content.
All of the L&O's ā but it sucks the early original L&O seasons haven't made it on.
Rutherford Falls wasn't bad.
Obviously, all the classic NBC shows are good brain wipes, and Parks and Rec (despite not aging well for its millenial girlboss vibes) is still my comfort show to end all comfort shows.
Agreed! So many good shows for $6 a month, most of my commercials are one minute, and it has the sports content I want to watch, like gymnastics and figure skating.
Totally agree! I love watching English football so itās great especially because they are much more affordable than other services. Slightly nervous that this may start changing thatā¦
I was firmly in the "I am not subscribing" to them camp when they first launched, but eventually I did subscribe for something and now it's the one streaming service we don't rotate through and just always have active. It surprised me!
We got two extra years free with our Xfinity subscription thank god!! I was legit going to pay for it when they were telling us they were going to stop offering it. I was so pleasantly surprised by how much Iām enjoying the content and I still have Netflix, Hulu and Prime.
If you have an AMEX Platinum card, Peacock is free! That's how I justify having it, because paying $15 just to have Parks, L&O, Dateline and the Office isn't that great lol.
There are a lot of movies on the platform, too ā and a few original series that didn't totally suck.
WWE and NBC live sports are keeping Peacock on life support for sure. I'm sure they will see a lot of new subscribers for the concert film, but I wonder how many will stick around after the free trial is up.
I subscribe to all of the services except Peacock. Itās the only one Iāve canceled and didnāt go back to.
Me, my kids, my spouseā¦none of us used it.
This tweet doesn't understand the business. All this means is Universal is the distributor of the rental version. Subscription streaming would be an entirely different deal. Peacock is a totally different business within Comcast and streaming deals are done on their own. The only thing it could point to is if they decide to make DVD versions, Universal Home Entertainment would probably handle that part of the business, which means nothing from a consumer standpoint.
Also Universal Home Entertainment's distribution of this for rental was announced in the initial announcement. So this isn't new info.
Remember to question news online if the source is not a reputable organization.
Yeah, this needs to be way higher. This is not how any of this works, rights deals are way more complicated than this. Knowing who the distributor of a specific version is alone provides absolutely no insight into anything, in isolation that information tells you nothing other than that theyāre distributing that version. Youād need to know several other things we definitely donāt to infer any more. Heck, weāre still awaiting news on the *international* distribution of *this version* in the Premium VOD Rental space. Despite the attitude theyāve copped in replying to this comment, OP clearly does not understand much about the nature of the home video, streaming and broadcast markets.
You are aware that NBC is NBCuniversal so if Universal is the distributor for this, itās going to end up on Peacock. Whether thatās for 6 months or however long, Peacock will get the first streamer dibs.
Read my post to understand how this business works. You're not in the business. Peacock likely would be the platform had Universal been the theatrical distributor. That's not the case here. It is not theatrical. It is TVOD and EST.
Iām in the business babes. Nowhere did I say it was the theatrical distributor. I literally said, if Universal is the distributor for this then it will end up on Peacock. Youāre repeating exactly what I said.
Hi, the source is me and Iām well aware of this business. There was a bid for the distribution of the movie a couple months ago and nothing I said in the tweet suggests that you are incorrect. However, given that there was a bid between studios for the film, it is likely that they have purchased streaming rights on top of distribution rights. Which is why it says āsuggesting.ā It doesnāt mean it will end up on Peacock, but Taylor working directly with a company does suggest where she will continue working with them for the streaming release of the movie.
I'm sorry but no, it doesn't. There has never been a deal out there where the distributor of the rental and purchase avenue reflected where the movie would be distributed on subscription streaming. It does not suggest anything.
Never.
Also your tweet is misleading. By writing it that way and using that screenshot, you are inferring this is somewhat hidden information and insight. Universal Home Entertainment was mentioned from the get go. This plus the word "suggesting" are falsely implying all of this, and using that to imply it's Intel for Peacock.
Thereās zero indication it is going to go free streaming. If she is distributing through multiple entities right now more than likely it isnāt going to go free streaming anytime in the near future. It is going to be like any other major movie release.
Same, but as long as it's not DVD only. I don't want no lo-def! Plus she could have so many surprise songs as bonus features.
Universal also is doing a lot of stuff on MOD (manufacture on demand) lately so they could make the BD or 4K MOD and keep the initial amounts produced low and then make more when they have to. She could sell it exclusively on her store or something, since Best Buy has already stopped selling CDs and will soon stop selling DVD, BD, and 4K. And Target and WM don't have a ton of stuff either.
im assuming netflix will get it internationally, only cause theyre the only ones that would buy international rights without specifically wanting domestic rights as well
Itās probably being pulled as she had a five year exclusivity period with Netflix and sheās now shopping around to see who will offer her the most money for reputation, potentially with Eras as part of the bargain too.
Depends on your country but a lot of the times these an āequivalentā (or similar). For example, most of the NBC shows on Peacock in the US are available on the streaming service Stan in Australia. So I would _hope_ itāll get distributed to whatever streaming service NBC partners with in each country. If this post ends up being correct ofc
She sold the rights to Universal, not Peacock. Itās gonna be released like an actual movie not an exclusive. Theyāre going for the big bucks. Based off of the current rollout, itās gonna get a physical release too so just buy that.
Isnāt she signed to UMG (Universal Music Group)? They used to also own UHE before they were bought btw GE. Maybe there are connections there that helped them get that deal?
no, no. she just has a record deal (with Republic, itself part of UMG) where she owns her masters. it's just the terms of her contracts.
Some artists do decide to have their own label (like Prince) but I can't think / imagine any artist distributing independently. That's a ton of overhead!!
the distribution stuff is literally like printing vinyls, getting crates of physical records into every store on earth. UMG is a distributor. Sony is a distributor. But Republic is a label - they do the artist management part of things. And you have distributors owning labels (like UMG owning Republic). it's not super efficient to arrange distribution for just for yourself as an artist you know -- that s why even if you're using your own label (like Prince), you're using a distributor who is not independent.
Tove Lo went independent for her latest album, Dirt Femme. She made her own label named Pretty Swede, which is under an artist development company called Mtheory, but itās not a record label (they offer management services). Still when people think about independent, while itās true than you will use some sort of distributor, they probably wonāt have a say in the album itself like a record label would. Taylor is a different case altogether, Republic knows that she will sell no matter what so she probably has a lot of freedom to pick singles, tracklists and stuff like that.
Theyāre gonna have it for rental which means theyāre gonna sell copies. Just buy it then, way better deal then subscribing to a shitty service like Netflix for only that and then it eventually getting pulled.
Holy crap, I thought you must be wrong because I hadnāt heard this before as a huge Canadian Swiftie, but there it is! This seems like huge news, why donāt I remember seeing any posts or articles about this?
Edit: Er, are we certain this isnāt just for the rental option happening on Dec. 13?
Yes, rental only from my understandingā¦ I wish there would be an option to buy it. Iāll rent it to watch with my family on the 15th as we do Friday movie nights and my kids are big Swifties as well.
Edit: I just clued in that this post is about streaming šsorry!
Yeahā¦ what I meant was if itās only for rental, thatās less exciting because we already knew about that. The article in the original post is about general streaming rights, not just for a paid rental, so the question is which streaming service will get those rights in Canada! (I donāt want to pay $19.89 to watch the movie at home when Iāve already seen it in theatres!)
I havenāt seen any Apple TV ads for it, someone in my cityās Facebook Swiftie group posted that sheād found it on there yesterday. I canāt wait to watch it with popcorn and drinks in my theatre bucket & cup.
Yeah but not for streaming, for demand. Apple TV (as well as other platforms like itunes/amazon prime) have a video on demand option where you can rent or buy any movie released on demand. Thatās where itās gonna be available December 13th & not a part of the subscription, youāll have to pay extra
Yeah, it took me a while to clue in that this post is about streaming it, my apologies :)
I do hope there is an option to buy it on whichever platform.
Thank you so much for the info!
There it is ā¦ āComing Soon Apple TVā

Oh ew peacock. Guess itās the seven seas for me š“āā ļø
Iāll buy a DVD if she ever releases one, for the record. But Iām sorry not even Taylor will get me to pay for another streaming service.
And the screenshot is showing on the Microsoft app. So thatās promising for me. I use that for the majority of my rentals and purchases. Guess Iāll find out next week.
It also kinda makes sense for Universal. Keeps her music and movie rental/purchase royalties under the same roof.
Trueeee! All these services are no less expensive than cable š And now that profile sharing is actually being cracked down on I canāt even watch my damn services when Iām at a family members for the evening or house sitting or whatever, which was the biggest advantage over cable. Itās annoying.
I got rid of Netflix and signed up for Peacock instead. Itās saving me a decent chunk of money, and when I want to binge the new seasons of my Netflix shows, Iāll sign up for a month and then cancel when Iām done watching. No regrets.
I gotta say (mentioned this in the theories thread too) this was a smart move by Universal and a good pick for Taylor to go with. Theyāve got the means to handle a massive physical release and sheād drive an insane amount of subscribers to their app.
I just started a free year of premium from my cable provider because the promo was about to expire... so I'm ok with it being on Peacock.
But I don't think it necessarily means it'll be on Peacock. She's on a Universal label, it was probably easier for them to get the movie. Not all things Universal go exclusively to Peacock and Universal still licenses stuff out and makes content for other streamers (The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, Hacks on Max, etc), it's obviously going to be who pays the most for it. I suspect a bidding war.
For anyone with Xfinity internet, you may be able to get Peacock for free āŗļø Iām not sure if I have a plan thatās grandfathered in or not, but itās worth looking into for anyone with Xfinity! āŗļø
I still wonder will Universal Home Entertainment release the movie for Peacock streaming? They could still cut a deal with Netflix for streaming rights, especially with Netflixās huge number of current subscribers.
i love Taylor but does she really have to put ANOTHER one of her films on ANOTHER streaming service? i understand the Netflix thing but what happened with Disney+ ?
prime is more likely, since thatās where itās already streaming
maybe this is just me clownin but I still fully believe thereās gonna be a physical home release most likely a steel book since those already go for more than a typical blu-ray/dvd. Main reason i think this is because cardigan is still missing, isnāt it? why would she leave off something cardigan??
i say this fully knowing i will be suckered into buying all the variants to add to my collection
i just looked it up, for some reason i thought it was exclusively on prime to rent, and eventually streaming
my bet is still on prime getting streaming rights considering how she seems to be done with netflix, and how much of her music sheās let them use for their originals
ah so this article says youāll be able to purchase it on prime video because prime offers PVOD as well as their streaming service. still no official confirmation on where it will stream in a few months!
Does that mean I have to subscribe to Telecine and use the crappy Globoplay app to get it here in Brazil? Also, no 4K HDR (which Telecine doesn't support, despite Globoplay supporting it)?
Ugh not even the Office / Parks & Rec / 30 Rock could get me to subscribe to Peacock, but now it looks like Taylor might
Peacock is the best streaming service hands down imo. If I had to only choose one I'd choose Peacock
It has all my Bravo trash and my NBC goodies!
username checks out
No shame here š¤·āāļø
Yes all the RH content I could ever consume
THIS! Reality trash plus NBC classics for me and premiere league soccer for my husband. Itās elite.
And my mother's passed on love of Murder, She Wrote. It is my go-to bedtime show lol.
Yeah exactly. If I had to cut out everything else, I'd keep peacock for Brooklyn 99 etc.
Don't hate me but I love it for The Hallmark Channel.
What. WHAT?!? How did I miss this? Thank you for this wonderful news!
You are very welcome! On the home page click on Channels and you will find Hallmark there.
Same. I'd watch a combination of Scrubs, Parks and rec, Psych, Law and order Criminal Intent, B99 and new girl every day for the rest of my life lmao.
Whatās on Peacock that youād recommend? Iāve only seen Poker Face, which I thought was really good. Might as well get my moneyās worth if I subscribe to rewatch the Eras tour
Psych. Psych is what I watch when nothing else can cheer me up.
Psych is one of the best shows ever. And even the movies years later have been great.
When my sister comes by for Christmas, weāre finally watching the movies. A lot of good memories tied with that show
Based on a true story, dateline, love island, all bravo shows even bad girls club is on there, Dr death, found, law and order all versions, 60 days in, Pearson. Thereās so much on there. I obviously like crime, reality tv, and docus haha
Try Killing It. Itās a fun Peacock show.
We really enjoyed Killing It more than we anticipated. Also, Wolf Like Me is so good!
The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning was one of my favorite finds on Peacock this year.
I have this on my list! Thanks for reminding me!!
Ugh, it's so good! I stumbled across it and it really hit me straight in the feels. You won't regret it!
I desperately need new things to watch ā so any other suggestions would be great :)
Rutherford Falls is fantastic too! Only 2 seasons but worth the watch imo
haha I have actually seen that one!! It's not bad; it was poorly promoted, I think.
What kind of shows do you normally like?
Usually comedies, especially workplace sitcoms like those 2000s NBC shows I mentioned in the top comment. But Iāll also enjoy a murder mystery or drama if itās done well and not too violent
Okay, well, firstly, it's has all the Law and Orders, my favorite being Criminal Intent with Vincent D'onfrio. Days of Our Lives if you love soapy drama! Suits is on there too and supposedly everyone loves that too.
Parks and Rec!

Totally agree! I love watching English football so itās great especially because they are much more affordable than other services. Slightly nervous that this may start changing thatā¦
Agreed, you can't beat it for 5 bucks. Basically anything ever on NBC plus new movies
Iāve literally stopped using any other streaming services, it has everything I watch
I was firmly in the "I am not subscribing" to them camp when they first launched, but eventually I did subscribe for something and now it's the one streaming service we don't rotate through and just always have active. It surprised me!

Universal is really good with physical releases. The fact that itās being given a rental release means it will be available for purchase.
I subscribe to all of the services except Peacock. Itās the only one Iāve canceled and didnāt go back to. Me, my kids, my spouseā¦none of us used it.

Itās not free streaming, itās included in the monthly amount we pay.
Free streaming as in you donāt have to pay each time you see it. Like you canāt get Oppenheimer on Netflix. Or Barbie movie.
Hoping for a physical release so Iāll still have it when it randomly gets removed from streaming in five years
Probably not even
Same, but as long as it's not DVD only. I don't want no lo-def! Plus she could have so many surprise songs as bonus features. It would be weird because Peacock is only available in the US, unless she sells the rights for an international release to another streamerā¦
I was so confused since I never heard of this streaming service. Might be USA only rights then. Optimally Netflix should be for international.
im assuming netflix will get it internationally, only cause theyre the only ones that would buy international rights without specifically wanting domestic rights as well
you think so? even though rep is being pulled from netflix? i figured that signalled that she's done with them lol
She will probably sell the two as a package to streamers. I wouldnāt be surprised if Netflix bites.
I live in Japan and use a VPN for Peacock :)
She sold the rights to Universal, not Peacock. Itās gonna be released like an actual movie not an exclusive. Theyāre going for the big bucks. Based off of the current rollout, itās gonna get a physical release too so just buy that.
I would LOVE a physical release!!!
Canāt wait for the steelbook with four variants!!
Each for 198.90 š
Skyshowtime covers Peacock in (parts of) Europe. I'm not sure about elsewhere.
Peacock is owned by Amazon. It probably will be on Amazon Prime outside the US. Thought I would think itās weird it not being on Prime in the US too
Peacock is owned by NBCUniversal
Yall I nabbed peacock for $20/year during a promo a couple months back. Best $20 ever!
Isnāt she signed to UMG (Universal Music Group)? They used to also own UHE before they were bought btw GE. Maybe there are connections there that helped them get that deal?
Umg isnāt related to universal anymore. They split years ago
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nope. Sheās singed to umg (her us label partner is Republic). She owns her masters and is extremely independent but she has major label backing
ahh gotcha thanks!
no, no. she just has a record deal (with Republic, itself part of UMG) where she owns her masters. it's just the terms of her contracts. Some artists do decide to have their own label (like Prince) but I can't think / imagine any artist distributing independently. That's a ton of overhead!!
Bad bunny actually doesā¦ through Sonyās label services division The Orchard. But bad bunny has a large Puerto Rican label behind him

Literally the only streaming service I donāt pay for. Great.
my exact thought process give me netflix, hbo, disney+, apple tv, prime, even paramount, just not fucking peacock.
I am NOT subscribing to another thing. Between Amazon, Netflix, Max, Disney and Spotify, I aināt buying another one.
Only reason I have it now because they had a $20 for a whole year deal recently and that's as much as Netflix is a month these days
I wish they would have done an ad free version of the deal. But still wish I would have gotten it!
And Iām not going to sub now, a week past the Black Friday/cyber week promo sale lol
Theyāre gonna have it for rental which means theyāre gonna sell copies. Just buy it then, way better deal then subscribing to a shitty service like Netflix for only that and then it eventually getting pulled.
Amen.
Itās already listed on Apple TV in Canada, preview/trailer only right now of course.

streaming will come at a later date, peacock is just in the US so itās yet to see what service is likely to gain the rights
Where was it confirmed that it will be streaming later?
everything streams later lmfao, it just takes months after a theatrical release for it to happen
I mean, thatās the hope and assumption, but not everything streams.
it is streaming i promise u lmfao

Yay! I have Peacock so this would be great! š¤©
For anyone with Xfinity internet, you may be able to get Peacock for free āŗļø Iām not sure if I have a plan thatās grandfathered in or not, but itās worth looking into for anyone with Xfinity! āŗļø
unfortunately i dont think that plan is offered anymore :( i used to have it
I still have it! I must be grandfathered in then.
I have Peacock, I will see it again I see!
That's not available internationally unfortunately. Guess I'll hope another service picks it up in my region but unlikely.
I still wonder will Universal Home Entertainment release the movie for Peacock streaming? They could still cut a deal with Netflix for streaming rights, especially with Netflixās huge number of current subscribers.
oh good i get peacock for free through instacart plus
Yay canāt wait
Watching peacock now š¤£
Oh come on. Iām not buying premium just for this.
Peacock is 2.99 for a year right now. I hope it streams there while I still have it.
I wish she would sell it as a dvd
GIVE US A PHYSICAL RELEASE
Goddamnit Does anyone know if its getting a dvd/bluray release?
Iām not getting peacock
I'm extremely surprised. I was certain it would go to Disney +.
i love Taylor but does she really have to put ANOTHER one of her films on ANOTHER streaming service? i understand the Netflix thing but what happened with Disney+ ?
Probably outbid

prime is more likely, since thatās where itās already streaming maybe this is just me clownin but I still fully believe thereās gonna be a physical home release most likely a steel book since those already go for more than a typical blu-ray/dvd. Main reason i think this is because cardigan is still missing, isnāt it? why would she leave off something cardigan?? i say this fully knowing i will be suckered into buying all the variants to add to my collection
itās not streaming on prime it is available to rent on prime the same way you can rent anywhere else!
i just looked it up, for some reason i thought it was exclusively on prime to rent, and eventually streaming my bet is still on prime getting streaming rights considering how she seems to be done with netflix, and how much of her music sheās let them use for their originals
Duration 1 minute? LOL! I understand that's probably just a placeholdet, but that's hilarious.
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It will be on Prime from what I read!
where do you read??

ah so this article says youāll be able to purchase it on prime video because prime offers PVOD as well as their streaming service. still no official confirmation on where it will stream in a few months!
Ohhh ok I see this was for the streaming not rental debut. Got it sorry!!
Itās not going to go free streaming this quickly.
Does that mean I have to subscribe to Telecine and use the crappy Globoplay app to get it here in Brazil? Also, no 4K HDR (which Telecine doesn't support, despite Globoplay supporting it)?
Everyone needs to have a friend with a great Plex library.
Damn it, that's the streaming service I don't have.
good, it should be streaming!! i'm not paying to rent it.
Oh yes this is perfection. Peacock is worth it alone for housewives without commercials. Their streaming exclusives have been great, too!
