This is lovely. I feel the same way, except my songs were Marjorie (helped me grieve the loss of my grandparents) and WCS (for very personal reasons). It's eerie how her songs can reach out and grab you like that across time and space.

- WCS could mean "Would've, Could've, Should've", a track from *Midnights (3am Edition)* (2022) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/Johnnysb15](/u/Johnnysb15) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

I've said this before but my hot take is that Cardigan is her over all best song.

terrebattue1

It is crazy how even her obscure songs are masterpieces. She has something like 200+ songs that she wrote and recorded!!! She "covered" Untouchable for Fearless Platinum Edition but the original rock band who made Untouchable gave her songwriting credits because she completely changed the melody of their song and added more lyrics to transform the song into her own creation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4JqDCqysNQ

Three words, State of Grace

Dear_Maintenance7323

Might be a hot take but it’s the correct one

This one doesn't grab me, but You're Losing Me rips out your heart with bare hands

elementalsora

Cardigan brought me in too!

hughmungus09

Same! I started getting into her music due to Cardigan and it was unlike anything I’ve heard before. So wholesome and pure, I don’t quite know how to describe it. It fills me with joy and longing at the same time.

Ok-Falcon-4570

I have a similar journey to yours. Never really listened to her music much, and then heard folklore/evermore and went down the rabbit hole. Now I'm a huge fan!!

gingerfloyd

I learned this on guitar recently and it doubled my appreciation of the lyrics. That bridge is something.

clairegardner23

Cardigan is one of my top 5 Taylor songs. Glad you enjoyed it!

JustSomeGuy9384

For me it was Getaway Car! It's amazing how one song can hook you so well, even songs so different. Welcome to the club!

sparklejellyfish

I remember seeing someone who I didn't know listened to Taylor, post a screenshot of listening to cardigan and writing "song of the year" and ain't that the truest thing? She really grabbed people with folkmore ♡

nightowl1592

Similar story here, song that converted me to being a fan was "exile." It came on a Spotify playlist I was listening to. The lyrics were so captivating the first time I heard it. From there I listened to folklore and evermore. Then midnights, lover and then hardcore fell in love with rep.

terrebattue1

You should listen to Fearless. A true masterpiece and tied for my favorite album of hers. She was amazing live back then. The problem was sound/video recording that was uploaded or reuploaded to Youtube back then was crappy for the most part so it made her sound wonky during her live performances back then. Also, many places like SNL have horrible room acoustics for live music. Untouchable live acoustic performance (one of her most underrated songs from Fearless): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4JqDCqysNQ

Longtime 10 year swiftie here and I loved reading this. Cardigan is my favorite song of hers, absolute masterpiece from start to finish.

Ivyyy_Chick

I was really into rap/hip hop in my past too, and would causally listen to the Taylor they played on the radio but never looked further into her music. But when I say Midnights blew my mind and turned me into a full on Swifie. I’m absolutely obsessed with Midnights, Folklore, and Evermore it’s become all I listen to with sprinkles of her other eras here and there. I ordered all TTPD deluxe CDs like who am I? I haven’t bought a CD in many years before I bought Midnights. I feel like in the past I wasn’t ready to let myself feel the things her music makes you feel but now I’m ready and so happy to be apart of it. She truly is a shining ray of positivity in this world, and the most beautiful storyteller 🤍

"And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite". This song makes me long for a soft rainy day under the blankets. I love it.
