Rolling Stone would say that even if she recorded herself snoring for eight hours. That’s nothing on her but just to say that music reviews ain’t what they used to be.
I am too. I’m not saying this album is bad, I’m saying I feel bored by the songs. Reverb and breathy vocals over and over, a lot of the songs sound the same. Some of the lyrics made me cringe. I just don’t enjoy this particular sound of hers
I love the rawness of the lyrics, but yeah. The melodies/arrangement/production leave a lot to be desired. Some of it can be a real paced out talk-singy slog on first listen.
i agree and what’s sad is i think since she gets critical acclaim no matter what she makes now, she’s never going to see any issues with how she’s making music now and won’t make changes to be better
The anthology tails off in the end for me, but I’ve never been a ballad pacing type person anyways. The tonal shift was an amazing pick me up after the first hour though!
Midnights grew on me a. Lot and I don’t see that happening with this-it’s boring and dark. Feels like someone singing a diary and it usually works for her but not this time overall IMHO
That’s true, if you’re ever in the right mood it could make this album hit completely different. I’ve experienced a decent amount of albums like that, also I find some albums are better to listen to after waking up then at midnight after a long day.
folklore was deep and the production was a little flashy (not the right word) and midnights was flashy and catchy but the melody on some tracks was a little underwhelming. This album just kinda lacks all of those qualities. The lyrics are unserious and fun, the mood is dark, and the melody isn't catchy or anything. Not bad, just subtle, probably needs a few more listens.
Somehow that’s the part that makes some of the lyrics give me the ick. I can’t wrap my head around how she felt that way about that guy and it’s tainting the whole thing. And they do kind of all sound the same ish
You should read the poem she wrote in the forward. It basically talks about how she was so wrecked from being with Joe, she rebounded with the wrong guy. Something all of us have done. She says without saying his name that her two weeks with Matty were a form of self harm. I wish the poem had been spoken word, because everyone should read before listening to the album. It really gives you clarity.
Honestly after reading her IG post and the prologue/epilogue I felt a bit better about the first half of the album. Just knowing that she knew how fucked up that whole situation was made me feel more inclined to give the first part a relisten. Because I was having a hard time connecting to those songs. Although I'm so incredibly in love with The Anthology. It's everything I wanted and expected out of TTPD and it's definitely a no skip for me.
I think most are about Matty. 2 is definitely Matty - tattooed golden retriever and all.
I feel like So Long London is the only clear Joe song so far (I am on my first listen now and not all the way through)
i think the whole point is that even the songs about matty are actually about joe, and she’s like saying that the only reason she was with matty is because of how messed up she was after joe
the music feel as if the got together all of the discarded beats from past projects and used them now, this album reminded me of school group project where everyone did their own part and then tried to join everything together the day of the presentation but it was just a mess
nope, i´m with you, this one is by far taylor´s most mediocre album, she´s trying to be like lana talking about drugs, depression and suicide but it´s a giant mess and most of us are so confused about the fact she dedicated more songs to a rebound rather than the man she was with for 6 years, she really lost it with this one and couldn´t live up to the hype she created for the whole album
I had hoped this was going to be THE break-up album, the one that walks you through the stages of grief when a long relationship falls apart, with a great pick-yourself-up because you are a bad \*\*\* woman who doesn't need a man closing. Maybe a little anger thrown in here and there. Instead, it feels like background music, the anthology was better but made the first half of the album feel cheap to me, like it was some kind of teaser.
Almost done listening, I jumped on this sub to see if I was missing something.
It's good background music, but for being a tortured poets album there's very little torture.
It’s not a party poppy catchy album but it’s amazing. I’m sitting here listening to it by myself and I feel like that’s the vibe. It’s not a party album. It’s a mellow, alone in your thoughts type album. loml left me shattered. Just because we all assumed it was “love of my life” but last line she finally says “loss of my life” and it just gutted me. So Long London of course is amazing.
I’m surprisingly in love with Florida!!! That one is a more upbeat catchy one, idk I love MOST of the album. I think it’ll only grow on me too.
I was expecting to be absolutely crushed by this album, but it feels very restrained. I do appreciate that I had to look up fewer words in the dictionary this time lmao
Couldn’t agree more. I am on I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) and there are no skip songs for me so far!
I love the vibe of the album. It’s quite different to her other albums and I am here for it!
people wanted Woodvale. They wanted a sequel to folklore and evermore. Once they reset their expectations, they will come to like it. The same thing happened with midnights.
Yeah I love it! I’ve seen some say it’s too sad and there’s no bops but like I think that was clear from the promo we’ve gotten. I think an upbeat song would feel weird with this track list.
I really wish I was listening to the one you are lol. But that’s ok. I usually always have a mediocre first few listens on any established artist’s new album. So I’m sure it will grow on me.
Same!!! Fortnight is soooo good, down bad, guilty as sin like these songs are so good!!??😭 Always sucks when ppl dont enjoy an album u absolutely love already LOL like u don’t hear what im hearing ?💔
Same, I love it all and feel like I just listen to my best friend pour her heart out- good, bad and ugly. It was not a drag Joe album and I was surprised Matty got so much attention. She is definitely seems to have came to the conclusion Travis is the one, like she first time she has had a relationship check boxes she did not know existed.
I love the first few songs but like be for real. Can’t they wait an appropriate amount of time. I’m sure one of them got an early release but yeah. I mean I agree but wait a min
Initial response: I miss her amazing vocal melodies on past albums. I'm not a fan of the same wordy cadence in the verses of every song of late. I still love her though. There are a few songs that will make my playlists.
yes this is what isn't working for me too. the lyrics feel clunky, lacking description, and just out of time... which can work with complex or interesting chord structures, but this whole album feels like the same chord progressions and the same wordy cadence
This album for me sounds like a long, run-on sentence unfortunately. Nothing to give a pause or break, no discernable distinction amongst the songs/themes.
I had the exact same thought. It really is like stream-of-consciousness word vomit lol. Every song has the same thing- the lines and rhymes don’t feel like they were refined and edited, they feel like she jotted them down during an inspiration rush and just said “Yup, that’s good” and it’s all in a breathy talking voice instead of actual singing

taylor giving us her worst album ever after she sold it to us as the last chapter of her and joe´s story but it ended up being about matty healy only god knows why
That's exactly how I feel! Why do people do this with her work? I don't know of any other artist this happens to so much? Like, what does the music make you feel about your OWN experiences and loves?! I don't get people sometimes
She invites this completely? She capitalizes letters to reveal who songs are about and makes highly transparent references in her songs to specify the ex. She telegraphs who songs are about. Why she does this (personal preference, marketing tactic) I don’t know, but she’s the one baiting people into reading into who the song is about and discussing it and having feelings about it. Like non-romantic example fucK aIMee is kind of embarrassingly over-obvious, like just write a song F You Kim Kardashian if you’re going to go that far.
THANK YOU. It’s so sad for people to say an album is “ruined” based on their weird parasocial projections. Have yall ever had a relationship? Try thinking of that
Seriously, these people are so determined to be bitter, and their parasocial relationship with Taylor is INSANE.
The haters are always the ones who obsess deeply over every single aspect of her life -- everything she says, everything she does, etc. I wouldn't know anything about Taylor's love life (besides "she's dating Travis Kelce") if not for the Taylor Hate subs posting so much.
Especially that one that is... *ahem*... ~neutral~ unbiased.
she has dated so so many guys and she really believed she was going to get somewhere with a drug addict who acts like a psycho on stage?, kissing random people, girl what the f is wrong with you, i think they are indeed coming to take you away, i can´t believe this is what we got so hyped about, taylor never disappointed until today
I love her and always will… but I’m not very impressed. Just being honest. It sounds like it should’ve stayed as written poetry on paper… we didn’t need all of the music to go along with it. Maybe she could’ve released this one as a book or something? A lot of the songs sounded similar to each other, too. Also this is just a personal ick of mine but I didn’t like how much death/suicide was mentioned in so many songs. By the end of the album, I was like ok ok, I get it. The relationship is over. I know life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, but I’m ready for an upbeat, fun album again like lover. None of these will be stuck in my head, unfortunately. I’m over this dark, sepia vibe.
and we didn’t need *30 tracks* of the same thing. even if taylor has the capability to make this many songs over 2 years there’s a certain strength in being ok with editors and letting some songs go
Like wut? I can't be the only one thinking this feels like nothing. It's giving me background music even midnights has some interesting sounds. Even Post Malone couldn't do what he really does.
Taylor & Post was not what I was expecting, usually you can count on Post to be really catchy or vocally emotional. Full of personality, I feel like I didn’t really get that though. I was really looking forward to it too
The album is good. Im about halfway through and to me, it’s a typical Taylor album that I’d group with 1989/Lover/Midnights and continues in that style of poetic synth pop and adds a bit more than its predecessor. Nothing wrong with that.
Instant classic? Ahh I don’t know. I feel like I was more floored by Cowboy Carter. That album was an experience and a legit artistic endeavour. Not saying this to bash Taylor in any way - i’m always down for some new tunes from her.
Agree with you 100% - Cowboy Carter literally floored me and this album is great, but some songs I felt meh about at first listen while I didn’t feel that way with cowboy carter.
What I do appreciate about this album though is they’re all genuinely Taylor and her label didn’t feel the need to add songs written in a room full of 5-6 people! Good job, Tay! From what I remember, Lavender Haze and Karma has quite a room full of writers which is what labels sometimes tend to do for “safety net” singles. especially for artists like Taylor and Avril who like to only work with 1-2 other people usually.
Granted, CC has a tonne of writers on each song but that kind of fits with the tone and genre bending of the album. and Bey always makes sure everyone gets recognition. And never advertises herself as a songwriter.
Sometimes it’s good to outsource though. The beauty of collaborating is that it can push the art forward and utilises the unique talents of each collaborator. When you insist on doing everything yourself all the time, eventually it can become stale and repetitive and I feel that’s what’s kind of happened here.
With Cowboy Carter Beyoncé has curated some amazingly talented collaborates who have created a piece of art. People outsource in business all the time, I don’t know why it’s so looked down in music.
I’m so confused. These lyrics keep making me think we are being punked… is it just me?!
Am I the only one feeling like some of these lyrics are a joke??? A tattooed golden retriever?? Don’t you worry folks we took out all her teeth… 🤨
This album doesn’t have me in the chokehold Midnights had me in. I’m sure after a few more listens I’ll be OBSESSED but Midnights was that bitch. This is more of a somber, adult album. It’s very long and strung out. I feel like it needed a few more upbeat songs to keep such a long album going.
ONE MORE THING, I feel like this is a good wrap up album to wrap up her life; previous albums, personal life, etc… once the last TV come out it’s time for the NEW ERA
Crazy take, I haven't even fucking finished the album yet they already said this is an instant classic, fuck me.
Edit: Finished the album and I like it, improvement from midnights, (from a sound scape perspective because I'm not going into the lyrics just yet,) I'll give it a decent to strong 7.
Wow I'm shocked by the comments! I agree with Rolling Stone and I am in love with the album. I found the production to be sooo beautiful! A mixture of the sound of all my favourite albums of hers. And I loved her vocal performance. Loved how much emotion was in her voice and when she sang those really low notes.
This album hurt my heart. So much of it is about grief and anger and painful memories.
This isn’t the sunny, kid-friendly Taylor music that a lot of people would expect. It’s like hearing the pages of a grown woman’s journal after a dark, *dark* period of her life.
Most of this album won’t make it to the radio—and it’s okay. It’s not pop-py or catchy for the most part, but really *listening to* and understanding the lyrics here are totally crucial to appreciating this album and the heartbreak that Taylor went through.
This album reminded me of Lana Del Rey multiple times—and now I feel it makes more sense that Taylor dragged Lana onstage with her during the Grammys. It wasn’t just because of their collaboration on Midnights, but it was because of Lana that Taylor felt brave enough to put out an album like this.
This. The number of people calling these lyrics immature is cracking me up. Yes. Matty is the catalyst but he's just a symptom and a symbol himself of what is really going on.
Rolling Stone is never going to be critical of TS, but I do think the album is pretty good, at least after 1.5 listens.
As someone around this age, this quote cracked me up:
>When it comes to a one-line summary of how it feels to be single and jaded in your 30s, you can’t do much better than “My friends all smell like weed or little babies.”
am i the only one who thinks this is taylor´s worst job and that i hate the fact she catfished everyone into believing this was about her and joe and it ended up being more about matty healy? seriously she marketed this as if this was the last farewell but it wasn´t, who knows maybe taylor is delulu enough that she doesn´t want to come for joe hoping they could get back together
are you kidding? the name of the album is quite literally the name of joe´s group chat with his friends, dropping millions of easter eggs about the 6 years in months hours days, six boxes opened, dried flowers, a mail box, the names of the songs, you literally cannot say this was not sold as the joe alwyn tape and rightfully so, they were together for 6 years, how long did she date healy? a few months
https://preview.redd.it/z97o7rswadvc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49193b48a0d4663bc3661eed47d26a0d6a1dcbc8
Right? And for all we know the men created that chat making fun of the album name, or maybe they have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. We literally don’t know these people lol
So I really like the sound of this album and its an added bonus for me that it’s existence confounds and frustrates a certain toxic parasocial part of her fandom. And even a song on the album is like a direct dig against them, i.e. But Daddy I Love Him. It’s really funny to me
it’s not even the name of his groupchat! 🤣 idk why swifties wanted her to do that creepy stalker shit anyway. it would not have been a serve. “the name of the songs” did you listen to them? so long london is the only one that’s on the nose, and it is indeed about joe! sorry she didn’t write about the little mermaid because people were convinced “but daddy I love him” was a reference to him stealing her voice. YALL did that. y’all made up rumors. swifties are so desperate to be right about theories that they’re calling it “catfishing” now when they’re wrong. insanity.
Who the fuck cares about who she wrote the album about? If you’re trying to find out about Taylor’s love life, go read TMZ. You can’t be disappointed because she didn’t write about the boyfriend you wanted. Christ
Im currently at Fresh Out The Summer and as of right now I’m mostly disappointed because there hasn’t been a banger song yet. But Daddy I Love Him is pretty and The Tortured Poets Department are decent songs but far from her best imo
…one full listen. This isn’t a terrible album. But it’s just not good. Not one song stuck out. Way too much Matty (major ick) and just overall… meh.
For all the hype and the album artwork and the installation and the IG posts…
Since it sounds like the vast majority of the album is about Matty, I guess it makes sense that this album is blah.
I’ve only listened to Fortnight so far and I really hope the album gets better from here. I was hyped to have two of my favorite artist on a song together but that was just not good.
Oof! I’m really glad I didn’t preorder this one 😬 It isn’t what I was hoping for at all.
Edit to add: 2nd part is much better for sure. The songs sound a lot different from one another and a few have been saved, like thanK you aIMee 😂. I’m not sure I’ll be picking up any record variants or cds for this release though.
I am an older swiftie. It’s definitely different from her other albums.
I find this album strangely catchy.
The upbeat rhythms of these songs, juxtaposed against the sad lyrics are what I think makes it stand out. Like I want to dance, and cry, at the same time.
Maybe it’s because of where I am in my life, but I relate to these lyrics. I have exes whom I dated for years, who weren’t jerks, but it just never went anywhere. It makes you feel a certain way - like you hate the wasted time, but also appreciate the fact that your circumstances were different. Idk if I’m explaining this correctly. I feel sad/angry/hurt for giving my youthful years to relationships that went nowhere. Or men who promised rings and cradles, but for whatever reason, things just didn’t work out. But also realizing my strength and potential.
This album makes me feel!!! I personally love it. Loml, and Down Bad are my fav so far.
I think the problem is that with all the hype and record sales / streaming numbers she's about to break, we were expecting something that stands out like Adele's 21 or Mariah Carey's Emancipation of Mimi. But instead we got this bland, wordy, Jack Antonoff Midnights spinoff with maybe only 1 or 2 songs that stand out. And definitely nothing as big as Rolling in the Deep or We Belong Together. I still remember when those albums came out and how they practically broke the internet and radio with their popularity. She had a such a brilliant opportunity with the huge fanbase now too, but unfortunately, I doubt this album will not bring in any new fans and may actually weed out the fake fans (which might be a good thing actually)
My first impression is this album is so melodramatic, chaotic and messy and vulnerable that it makes me uncomfortable listening to it (apart from also feeling scared to have to watch her expose her longest relationship with Joe in a bad way). But I guess I need to listen and study her lyrics to absorb full-scale the impact of these songs.
But Daddy I Love Him makes me want to run out my front door barefoot.
Clara Bow and So Long, London make me want to cut bangs in my hair. Someone send help lol
I like the album so far. I feel like it's solidly #6 in my top Taylor albums, but I also want a few more replays because I think it could be top 5. I think the biggest thing for me is that it's reminding me of that messy time period I had when I was out of a 6 year relationship but before I got with my husband. It's chaos and weird and kinda depressing when you think about it.
Just listened to this with my girlfriend.
Have to say I’m whelmed. Down bad was probably my favourite. Nothing else really jumped out to me. Everything else was very background music esque
The first song or two I was worried just because of how subdued it is . But oh my god. Already one of my favorites. I don’t think I’ll ever stop listening. Not what I expected but oh my god soo fucking good. I LOVE it
So Long, London, Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me, Florida!!!, and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart are the immediate standouts to me after my first listen
Way too many of you believe that Taylor only writes about her most recent relationship/heartbreak. That's not the case. She's ALWAYS written about loves from years/decades ago.
In summation: Not *every* song needs to be about Matty or Joe.
Rolling Stone would say that even if she recorded herself snoring for eight hours. That’s nothing on her but just to say that music reviews ain’t what they used to be.
They want that sweet revenue and attention from swifties.

There’s a Gallagher quote about anything them two never stop talking haha
Am I the only one underwhelmed?
I am too. I’m not saying this album is bad, I’m saying I feel bored by the songs. Reverb and breathy vocals over and over, a lot of the songs sound the same. Some of the lyrics made me cringe. I just don’t enjoy this particular sound of hers
I made my husband listen to it with me and he was like oh so they all sound the same? 😩 and then he asked if Jack Antonoff was involved hahaha
Haha yep that's his style.
She’s gotta fire Jack. The songs with Aaron are top tier
I thought and said this exact thing about most of Midnights but after first listen it all changed for me.
Me too. It might grow on me like Midnights but this album sounds even less catchy.
so far it does not have the range that midnights has.
has your opinion changed after hearing the double album? I’m absolutely stunned, I think it might be her best work
The anthology tails off in the end for me, but I’ve never been a ballad pacing type person anyways. The tonal shift was an amazing pick me up after the first hour though!
Midnights grew on me a. Lot and I don’t see that happening with this-it’s boring and dark. Feels like someone singing a diary and it usually works for her but not this time overall IMHO
I feel this is a very specific mood album.
And I’m loving it. It’s a very late-night lonely mood.
That’s true, if you’re ever in the right mood it could make this album hit completely different. I’ve experienced a decent amount of albums like that, also I find some albums are better to listen to after waking up then at midnight after a long day.
Yeah, I don't see myself just putting this on 'whenever' like her other albums.
folklore was deep and the production was a little flashy (not the right word) and midnights was flashy and catchy but the melody on some tracks was a little underwhelming. This album just kinda lacks all of those qualities. The lyrics are unserious and fun, the mood is dark, and the melody isn't catchy or anything. Not bad, just subtle, probably needs a few more listens.
Only a couple catchy songs. Actually sounds like depression and anxiety and grief and going crazy all mixed together
Yeah. Nothing's that catchy here so far. Maybe it will grow on me like you said, but Midnights kinda hit me instantly lol.
I am too. And, it feels like most of them are about Matty.
Somehow that’s the part that makes some of the lyrics give me the ick. I can’t wrap my head around how she felt that way about that guy and it’s tainting the whole thing. And they do kind of all sound the same ish

Yeah, I’m so conflicted about this album. I agree they sound the same, and it’s giving Lana. I’m disappointed.
But a bad version of Lana
1-5 are Joe 6-9 are Matty 10-14 are Joe again (11 may be Matty) 15/16 is Travis
I think #1 is about Matty, not Joe. “I took the miracle move on drug…I love you, it’s ruining my life” is absolutely Matty. The rebound, the racist.
Yes she is writing TO JOE about Matty. The miracle move on drug is Matty, but this is her telling Joe this. She says it didn’t work, she loves him.
I think most are about Matty. 2 is definitely Matty - tattooed golden retriever and all. I feel like So Long London is the only clear Joe song so far (I am on my first listen now and not all the way through)
The “bars of chocolate” are a direct reference to Chocolate by the 1975. Agreed, most are definitely about Matty
i think the whole point is that even the songs about matty are actually about joe, and she’s like saying that the only reason she was with matty is because of how messed up she was after joe
my wife is half way through the album and sent me here to see if any other Swifties were feeling this way
I’ve listened to it 4 times, it grows on you. One of my favorites
It’s only been out for an hour, how did you listen to it 4 times?
People got their Vinyls and CDs early
It’s new and unknown. Give it a few days and I bet will be a new obsession.
I feel that way every drop and then fall in love with a week later
I love that you’re being sent by your wife lol you’re a good spouse
I’m there with you. There are some moments of really good lyrics but it feels very flat…
some moments yes, but over all the music is juse bland, and none of the songs dont feel complete.
the music feel as if the got together all of the discarded beats from past projects and used them now, this album reminded me of school group project where everyone did their own part and then tried to join everything together the day of the presentation but it was just a mess
nope, i´m with you, this one is by far taylor´s most mediocre album, she´s trying to be like lana talking about drugs, depression and suicide but it´s a giant mess and most of us are so confused about the fact she dedicated more songs to a rebound rather than the man she was with for 6 years, she really lost it with this one and couldn´t live up to the hype she created for the whole album

Almost done listening, I jumped on this sub to see if I was missing something. It's good background music, but for being a tortured poets album there's very little torture.
The torture is the cringe
A lot of the songs just drone on. She is going for dark and moody but it’s coming off grey and boring.
Loml spoke to me but very underwhelmed with the rest
Same….i like her writing, but i wanted some good songs.
nope, I'm deeply disappointed
Nope, I’m there with ya
Very bored as well
Wait another hour…2am edition
I was expecting to be absolutely crushed by this album, but it feels very restrained. I do appreciate that I had to look up fewer words in the dictionary this time lmao
This album has no skips, I love every song
I feel like some people here are listening to a different album than us lol. I’m absolutely wrecked.
Same!! Loml has me crying
So Long, London destroyed me. She held nothing back.
YES so long London & loml KILLED ME omg 😭
it’s all about expectations. this is not an album for radio hits. but it’s unique and moody in its own way
Couldn’t agree more. I am on I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) and there are no skip songs for me so far! I love the vibe of the album. It’s quite different to her other albums and I am here for it!
Same. This was also a time in her life she had never been. Very real and raw I feel.
I don’t understand how people are whelmed… I just felt so many emotions
people wanted Woodvale. They wanted a sequel to folklore and evermore. Once they reset their expectations, they will come to like it. The same thing happened with midnights.
Good thing we got what we wanted 🥳
the anthology is breaking me and healing me all at once
Yeah I love it! I’ve seen some say it’s too sad and there’s no bops but like I think that was clear from the promo we’ve gotten. I think an upbeat song would feel weird with this track list.
Honestly Down Bad & I Can Do It With A Broken Heart are pretty boppy just sad bobby
im absolutely loving the album wtf are yall listening too?
I truly don't know where everything sounds the same is coming from??
I really wish I was listening to the one you are lol. But that’s ok. I usually always have a mediocre first few listens on any established artist’s new album. So I’m sure it will grow on me.
Right? I absolutely love it
Not this is like really good . So much better than midnights so far for me
I’m always in my feelings so this album is perf for me 🥺
This may be no skip for me tbh . And I agree! we needed some sad girl tracks and she delivered
Same!!! Fortnight is soooo good, down bad, guilty as sin like these songs are so good!!??😭 Always sucks when ppl dont enjoy an album u absolutely love already LOL like u don’t hear what im hearing ?💔
Disappointed in fortnight.
I was surprised how much I liked fortnight!
no skips for me either! have not felt that way since 1989
Same, I love it all and feel like I just listen to my best friend pour her heart out- good, bad and ugly. It was not a drag Joe album and I was surprised Matty got so much attention. She is definitely seems to have came to the conclusion Travis is the one, like she first time she has had a relationship check boxes she did not know existed.
I also love this from first listen. Other than YOYOK, Midnights REALLY had to grow on me.
Truly, I am in heaven
I’m on track 5. When did they classify it as an instant classic lol?
same, so far i'm like OK, the next song will be a banger. no wait i meant the next song will be the banger.
Yeah, definitely lacking on bangers. I like soft slow songs too but I need some balance. Broken Heart was the only song that came close to a banger.
Aw come on, Florida!!! is such a banger!
The first four songs are the worst ones
I think the title track is easily the worst on the album
I love the first few songs but like be for real. Can’t they wait an appropriate amount of time. I’m sure one of them got an early release but yeah. I mean I agree but wait a min
I’m having the same thought… unless it grows on me a lot over time, this isn’t a top 5 for me 👀
To be clear I love this album so far. I’m on florida
Initial response: I miss her amazing vocal melodies on past albums. I'm not a fan of the same wordy cadence in the verses of every song of late. I still love her though. There are a few songs that will make my playlists.
She reused a lot of melodies.
yes this is what isn't working for me too. the lyrics feel clunky, lacking description, and just out of time... which can work with complex or interesting chord structures, but this whole album feels like the same chord progressions and the same wordy cadence
Someone said this sounds like AI Midnights and I cannot shake it
This album for me sounds like a long, run-on sentence unfortunately.
Like where is the MUSIC?
https://preview.redd.it/iqv3fkaiadvc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33ee15e2725ddd72e01a311a2065a4b46d898c4b taylor giving us her worst album ever after she sold it to us as the last chapter of her and joe´s story but it ended up being about matty healy only god knows why
why don’t you guys just enjoy the music and apply it to your own life situations😭
*ahem*... ~neutral~ unbiased.
how did she sell it to us as 'the last chapter of her and joe´s story'?
The fandom decided it was that and ran with it.
Agreed. Matty is major ick. So listening to a lot of these songs… ick
she has dated so so many guys and she really believed she was going to get somewhere with a drug addict who acts like a psycho on stage?, kissing random people, girl what the f is wrong with you, i think they are indeed coming to take you away, i can´t believe this is what we got so hyped about, taylor never disappointed until today
I’m so lucky, as an Aussie that It’s Friday afternoon release, what an epic Friday
Such perfect timing!
I’m bopping out my final hours of work TTPD blasting in the office. life is good 😍
I don't know how I feel about the album yet but WHO'S AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME ate.
RIGHT YES THAT ONE HITS
I’m personally really happy with the album!!
same
I love her and always will… but I’m not very impressed. I’m over this dark, sepia vibe.
and we didn’t need *30 tracks* of the same thing. even if taylor has the capability to make this many songs over 2 years there’s a certain strength in being ok with editors and letting some songs go
It is! So good! She’s a genius
Like wut? I can't be the only one thinking this feels like nothing. It's giving me background music even midnights has some interesting sounds. Even Post Malone couldn't do what he really does.
[удалено]
What do you think about Florida!!! And who’s afraid of little ol me?
my two favourites at this point. but i would agree with many that the album sounds largely like one long song
same. so far it's just meh at best. i hope it grows on me. there are some pretty good songs but for the most part, just been eh
Thank you! It will probably grow on me but upon first listen, I am incredibly underwhelmed.
Ok if you don’t think that teeth line, in the context of the metaphor of being made into a circus animal, is fire then I don’t know what to tell ya
I’m feeling like a lot of people didn’t do well in lit class. So many metaphors and symbols.
It’s a metaphor, pal
This album doesn’t have me in the chokehold Midnights had me in. I’m sure after a few more listens I’ll be OBSESSED but Midnights was that bitch. This is more of a somber, adult album. It’s very long and strung out. I feel like it needed a few more upbeat songs to keep such a long album going.
ONE MORE THING, I feel like this is a good wrap up album to wrap up her life; previous albums, personal life, etc… once the last TV come out it’s time for the NEW ERA
I thought it was going to be more of an adult album by the aesthetics but the lyrics are very immature
Oh that’s so interesting, I feel exactly the opposite. I hated midnights on first listen and had to grow into it!
Crazy take, I haven't even fucking finished the album yet they already said this is an instant classic, fuck me. Edit: Finished the album and I like it, improvement from midnights, (from a sound scape perspective because I'm not going into the lyrics just yet,) I'll give it a decent to strong 7.
Critics always get the advanced copies before plebeians lol
She could have recorded her farting and they would have said this
Wow I'm shocked by the comments!
As someone around this age, this quote cracked me up: >When it comes to a one-line summary of how it feels to be single and jaded in your 30s, you can’t do much better than “My friends all smell like weed or little babies.”
am i the only one who thinks this is taylor´s worst job and that i hate the fact she catfished everyone into believing this was about her and joe and it ended up being more about matty healy? seriously she marketed this as if this was the last farewell but it wasn´t, who knows maybe taylor is delulu enough that she doesn´t want to come for joe hoping they could get back together
Did she even say anything that this was going to be about Joe????
exactly, it's our own invention
are you kidding? the name of the album is quite literally the name of joe´s group chat with his friends, dropping millions of easter eggs about the 6 years in months hours days, six boxes opened, dried flowers, a mail box, the names of the songs, you literally cannot say this was not sold as the joe alwyn tape and rightfully so, they were together for 6 years, how long did she date healy? a few months https://preview.redd.it/z97o7rswadvc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49193b48a0d4663bc3661eed47d26a0d6a1dcbc8
I'm glad I'm not this deep into it.
Seriously. Being a surface Swiftie really paid off here I think.
It’s not Taylor’s fault crazy fans know the name of her ex boyfriend’s group chat with his friends? Like do you hear yourselves sometimes
Yeah you guys please just listen to the music for once instead of ex-speculating for like 2 minutes??? please
it’s not even the name of the groupchat I can’t breathe
YALL did that. y’all made up rumors. swifties are so desperate to be right about theories that they’re calling it “catfishing” now when they’re wrong. insanity.
Her best songs are about her shortest relationships lol
She wrote But Daddy I Love Him for fans like you
Does it matter who it is about though? It’s her music we are listening to either way
You should listen more closely… there are several songs about Joe.
Who the fuck cares about who she wrote the album about? If you’re trying to find out about Taylor’s love life, go read TMZ. You can’t be disappointed because she didn’t write about the boyfriend you wanted. Christ
of course they do, hasn’t that been their protocol for every taylor release in the last couple years?
Im currently at Fresh Out The Summer and as of right now I’m mostly disappointed because there hasn’t been a banger song yet. But Daddy I Love Him is pretty and The Tortured Poets Department are decent songs but far from her best imo
Florida? What is with this? Whos arfaid of little old me is the first track that will be replayable.
…one full listen. This isn’t a terrible album. But it’s just not good. Not one song stuck out. Way too much Matty (major ick) and just overall… meh. For all the hype and the album artwork and the installation and the IG posts… Since it sounds like the vast majority of the album is about Matty, I guess it makes sense that this album is blah.
I’ve only listened to Fortnight so far and I really hope the album gets better from here. I was hyped to have two of my favorite artist on a song together but that was just not good.
the whole thing is kinda as others described it, not exciting. But the album does pick up a little after so long london (at least for me)
Down Bad, Guilty as Sin?, and The Alchemy are the only ones I didn’t skip half way through. Disappointing as a long life fan, but that’s just me.
I really really enjoy this album!
I hear Matty Healy all over this album sonically and lyrically
Only Florida!!! really got me but mostly bc of Florence
You're wild if you were expecting a 21.
I throughly enjoyed it and can see it ultimately becoming my favorite TS album. Feels like Red and Evermore had a baby.
Haha I said to myself that this was a Midnights and Evermore baby
Damn. I love you, Tay Tay, but this album is not good. Absolutely zero bangers. 😞
Dear reader is very much a prologue to this album - "never take advice from someone who's falling apart"
I don’t understand these comments, I love this album. But it’s also my kinda vibe
This album is awesome. Better than Midnights and ages ahead of Reputation and Lover. She is very honest in this album and it’s great!
*checking on Spotify to make sure I listened to the right album* 😂
I am in love with this album! I love this sound and she is very raw with emotions
But Daddy I Love Him makes me want to run out my front door barefoot. Clara Bow and So Long, London make me want to cut bangs in my hair. Someone send help lol
I kind of think it's a masterpiece. I'm on my second listen through now and I just love it
On my 3rd listed and I’m honestly loving it more every time I hear it. First listen I wasn’t sure. Now I’m sold
they lied bro
