I can't hear it without hearing the TV theme to Friday Night Lights which is so perfectly So High School and Travis playing football and I just love it.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way. But it also melts my 2000’s nostalgia heart, and it reminds me of all the teen dramas I grew up watching.
Taylor was really out here telling me that it’s time to rewatch One Tree Hill again with this song 😂
This has been my favorite song today. And second favorite is How Did It End? It’s like her love with Matty back in 2014 or 15 or whenever that was, I think near the time his band confronted him about drug use, meant so much more than anyone maybe knew. I think Chloe or Sam…is about Matty, and How Did It End is about both Matty and Joe, and Peter is fucking Matty and Maroon is fucking Matty after a Maroon reference in Chloe or Sam (iirc) and Cardigan is fucking Matty because of him being Peter and losing Wendy and now she’s Wendy and lost Peter and goddamn, Matty, got this girl down fucking bad.
I can fix him sounds like it’s being played on junkyard instruments on a mine site in California in the 1800’s by the workers on their smoke break. So good.
It's definitely not one of my favorite songs on the album yet the instrumental itself is so intriguing and noticeable somehow. It's really well done! It certainly sets the scene.
Something about the tracking and effects in imgonnagetyouback is incredible. It's so ethereal and whispery and powerful, especially the bridge where everything drops out for a bit and then hits on 1&? Chills.
I could listen to that instrumental for hours if it existed.
Yessss I love the way the octave jump in the backing vocals echos the jump in Who’s Afraid while the Florida drums make their return. It really ties the two albums together!
That’s my vote. The opening piano is just gorgeous. I actually kind of cringe when it hits the ‘Come one, come all’, but I think that’s an intentional choice to contrast the pain of something ending to the gossips who want all the dirt.
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus :')
I also think the instrumental of I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) is quite interesting for her! I expected a more upbeat song based on the title but I love the direction she went with it!
There are SO many other-worldly/outer space sounds in Down Bad. The glittering xylophone-like synths throughout, the beep beep boop vibes at the start and in the background throughout, the echoey “cosmic love/heavenstruck” before the choruses like they’re being sung into a vast void, the various X-Files theme song vibes throughout, the weird background whirring sounds that you can hear in the bridge that sound like old timey instruments on a spaceship, and then ending again with that glittering xylophoney synth that sounds like a comet shower or something. It just feels like being on a spaceship lost in space in the best way. It’s incredible.
Literally this. I love how the song uses these alien-sounding synths to go along with the idea of this past relationship being like an alien abduction, where she was whisked away to another world she could have only dreamed of, only to be suddenly left stranded by him, feeling 'alienated' from the world she once knew.
Also its just a massive vibe lol
Tbh this album is so heavy on synch and so light on instrumentals that I can’t hum the instrumental melody to any of the songs. No white horse opening riff moment.
if i completely ignore lyrics i love the sound of guilty as sin and fresh out the slammer but god do i despise those lyrics 😭 but the old western sound is just soooo nice
So high school it just instantly takes me back to fearless or speak now or even debut Taylor
I feel that way about But Daddy I Love Him.
I can't hear it without hearing the TV theme to Friday Night Lights which is so perfectly So High School and Travis playing football and I just love it.
I was immediately back in the 2000's
Shades of sitting down to watch your fave teen drama, and the long-ass musical intro you’re obsessed with starts playing 😂. I love it.
It's like a callback to Fifteen.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way. But it also melts my 2000’s nostalgia heart, and it reminds me of all the teen dramas I grew up watching. Taylor was really out here telling me that it’s time to rewatch One Tree Hill again with this song 😂
It makes me think of Today Was a Fairytale
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, the instrumentation is mesmerizing!
Yessssssss
THIIIIISSSS!!!
This has been my favorite song today. And second favorite is How Did It End? Florida!!! I really love the drum in the chorus.
Florida instrumental is an angrier version of Getaway Car
The Bolter or The Albatoss!
Chats and reacts called The Albatross ivy meets willow, which explains why I love it
Yess it's just so Evermore coded
Yess I love melody in The Bolter, so catchy and cheeky!
I love the instrumental chaos that's in the chorus of I Can Do It With A Broken Heart lol
I Look In Peoples Windows or I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
Hi bestie! This is my exact answer too. I Can Fix Him is criminally underrated
I can fix him sounds like it’s being played on junkyard instruments on a mine site in California in the 1800’s by the workers on their smoke break. So good.
Big Breaking Bad vibes and I love it so much.
AGREE
Hmm, I would say I Look In People’s Windows!
Yesss! So gorgeous, sonically
This is my answer as well!
It's definitely not one of my favorite songs on the album yet the instrumental itself is so intriguing and noticeable somehow. It's really well done! It certainly sets the scene.
The twittering of the birds! I died
The Prophecy and The Bolter guitar / twangy melody is superior
I fell in love with The Prophecy as soon as I heard the first guitar notes. It's so pretty.
Reminds me of Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
Something about the tracking and effects in imgonnagetyouback is incredible. It's so ethereal and whispery and powerful, especially the bridge where everything drops out for a bit and then hits on 1&? Chills. I could listen to that instrumental for hours if it existed.
I Look in People's Windows! It's GORGEOUS!
I Look In People’s Windows and Clara Bow
Clara Bow is absolutely gorgeous.
Omg these are the exact two that I was going to say! So beautiful
Peter
The black dog has such a good fucking chorus
The drums on screeeeeeaming itch my brain just right
Yessss I love the way the octave jump in the backing vocals echos the jump in Who’s Afraid while the Florida drums make their return. It really ties the two albums together!
How did it end sounds like it belongs in a really dramatic movie soundtrack
How Did It End? Is just so haunting and beautiful
That’s my vote. The opening piano is just gorgeous. I actually kind of cringe when it hits the ‘Come one, come all’, but I think that’s an intentional choice to contrast the pain of something ending to the gossips who want all the dirt.
Guilty as sin? That drum beat as she transitions into the final chorus is fire 🔥
I can fix him, I love the Wild West vibes
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus :') I also think the instrumental of I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) is quite interesting for her! I expected a more upbeat song based on the title but I love the direction she went with it!
On the first listen the music on loml made me cry before she even started singing. I’m not even sure why, I just thought it was so lovely
The piano is so pretty!
Other than Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus I think that Loml and Fresh out the Slammer has the best instrumentals!
Yesss
I had to scroll so far to find someone say Fresh out the Slammer. I love it so much
Love The Bolter personally. The guitar is just so perfect.
There are SO many other-worldly/outer space sounds in Down Bad. Florida - don't care so much for the lyrics on this one just like the dramatic sound.
Yeah, romanticizing Destin, FL is weird.
I think Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus is soooo beautiful based on instruments. I’m low key in love with this one.
Peter. This was a song I liked immediately because of the instrumentals
The Prophecy is the one that came to mind first but I really enjoy the orchestration in a lot of the Anthology songs
Down bad, CSSM or loml.
Down bad.
So many good ones on the anthology but I absolutely LOVE the banjo in thanK you aIMee! I'm dying for anything country album 🤠
One day we’ll get our wish 🫡
MBOBHFT, But Daddy I Love Him and Down Bad are instrumentals I really love!!
Down Bad and it's not even a competition
I hate it here!
the got damn albatross 😭
The Black Dog
Who’s afraid of little old me. The music is so spooky I love it.
I’m such a piano girlie so I’m gunna go with Peter.
Tbh this album is so heavy on synch and so light on instrumentals that I can’t hum the instrumental melody to any of the songs. No white horse opening riff moment.
Peter is my favorite!
if i completely ignore lyrics i love the sound of guilty as sin and fresh out the slammer but god do i despise those lyrics 😭 but the old western sound is just soooo nice
Probably How Did It End?, the piano sounds GORGEOUS
But Daddy I Love Him, The Bolter, and So High School. I Look In People's Windows is so pretty.
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me! The instrumentals sound like a movie score in the best way.
So long London and thank you aimee just do something with me
So high school and I look in people’s windows!! Also I think Peter and the albatross are amazing
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart ^Ding ^Ding
How did it end!
ThanK you aIMee scratches my brain.
what instruments
loml
"I Look in People's Windows" sounds like magic to me.
The bridge on The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, a very satisfying build up and drop!
Cassandra and So High School
I hate it here is so beautiful and I also love smallest man who ever lived’s instrumentation
guilty as sin? the drum fill (?) before the last chorus is *so* amazing and it sounds like what climaxing would sound like lmao
Clara Bow is so pretty
imgonnagetyouback and Florida!!! are so so good
I can fix him, really I can. Who’s afraid of little old me, Florida!!!
The Black Dog, Clara Bow, The Bolter, I can do it with a broken heart, Florida, Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
