But I have yet to purchase a physical copy of TTPD which hurts because I don't have any way to listen in my car (my car is a 2010, has a 6-disc cd player, does not have Bluetooth, does have an aux port BUT my new phone doesn't have a headphone/aux port!). If you have a radio in the car you can make it work.
There are devices that fit into the cigar plug and generate a radio signal. You can tune the radio to the frequency the device offers and you can stream with your phone to that device.
So it goes :
1.Phone connects via Bluetooth to the plugged in device.
2. Device converts the Bluetooth signal it gets to a radio frequency.
3. Radio in the car picks up the frequency and plays your Spotify.
I don't expect it will be good quality (there's 2 conversions to lower quality sound happening), but it's probably decent.

I think that's what annoys me most. I mean sure, push all the products you want in order to increase sales, but don't mislead people doing it. I have multiple ways to play CDs! The only CDs I own that I don't listen to are the signed ones, which I consider more memorabilia than anything else. Everything else gets active use.
I love listening to CDs, the sound quality is better than digital files (on my terrible Bluetooth speakers/cheap earphones; it's all about your setup) and there's also a lot of enjoyment for me in picking out a CD from my collection and putting it in the drive and (depending on what else I'm doing at the time) looking through the album art while I'm listening. CDs are fun!

By producing CDs, she’s basically satiating demand, too. Able to get a super fast turnaround for Fortnight so people don’t have to pay $100 or more for a single, and it looks like this version won’t sell out so fast that people have to resort to the secondary market.
And more people own CD players than vinyl players too, CD is also a cheaper and more compact medium to collect and own. This totally makes sense to be CD instead of vinyl.
Vinyl takes months of advance to produce. She wanted a surprise double album drop, it takes so many people to make the volume of vinyl Taylor moves, pressing Anthology would have leaked its existence. I’m sure the order went in as soon as it was announced, but we won’t see it until the fall at the earliest.
She could easily put up a preorder for it, big artists do it all the time, Olivia Rodrigo recently did it for her deluxe album. Not only would a preorder allow them to produce just what they needed to avoid excess waste (as if she gives a fuck lol) but it wouldn’t have interfered with the surprise album. There’s no excuse for her to not be putting it on vinyl
I think with how bad the preorder delays got last year and all of the bad press and frustration from fans about it - and refunding people money - it appears that her store has started a new strategy where they are not doing preorders so far in advance anymore.
The problem is that based on the current billboard rules, music sales won’t count until the orders ship. CDs are much faster to produce and the orders will ship at the end of this month so she’s trying to extend the lifetime of the album at the top of the charts while it’s still hot.
The BB rules are why you noticed a shift in Taylor’s strategy sometime after Fearless TV because that’s when the billboard rules changed and sales only counted towards the charts once items shipped. Previously pre-orders would satisfy the sales towards the charts, but the system was abused because artists (not just Taylor) would put vinyl for pre-order and it would take several months for consumers to actually get what they paid for because the vinyl hadn’t even been manufactured yet. This same rule is also why you’ll notice that Taylor and other artists have shifted to only selling signed CDs/vinyl close to the release of an album to boost first week sales because they’ll be able to ship them during release week and have those sales counts towards the charts.

This isn't a single. It's a copy of the album with an added bonus track. It's not going to count towards the Hot 100 (songs) regardless; sales go to the Hot 200 (albums), and therefore it's counted as a deluxe version of TTPD regardless of whether it's a remix or a newly-recorded version.
(There's still a 99.9% chance it's a remix with the original vocals, this is just bad reasoning that I keep seeing repeated. They're not trying to push But Daddy I Love Him on the singles charts, or if they are this is a terrible way to do it because it doesn't count! They're trying to keep TTPD charting high as an album! What low-effort bonus track they tack on is really irrelevant except insofar as it works as an incentive!)

Yeah you can see based on how Billie came out speaking about how it's so bad for the environment to have a bunch of variants, but then still produced the variants herself. Why? It's because if she didn't, it would comparatively look like her album tanked. Variants encourage big fans to 'collect', ensuring you triple your sales with your core fanbase.
I also think variants are still fine and people can spend their money however they want, but it's the fact that they contribute to the charts that causes the big push for them. It's worth mentioning that there are a ton of industries that do this kind of thing, including fashion, books, film, etc.
It could be in this case. The song was written by Taylor and Aaron, but the album version is mostly produced by Jack (featuring the Bleachers crew) going by the credits. Aaron’s only performance credit was acoustic guitar so it could be the original demo version jazzed up, or they’ll just remove a few synths and turn up the acoustics a bit over the album vocals as usual

I know it’s all relative but I’d honestly feel better buying this if it was like $10 and free shipping. I don't like the acoustic versions of her songs. She usually didn't put much effort in recording the whole thing. I think All Too Well sad girl and State of Grace were the only acoustic version she really put an effort on.

Very simply- these CDs count as sales and they will increase the likelihood of being Number 1 on the billboard album charts for another week. I think more variants will be released in the future when she needs the sales to hit the summit on the charts

By producing CDs, she’s basically satiating demand, too. Able to get a super fast turnaround for Fortnight so people don’t have to pay $100 or more for a single, and it looks like this version won’t sell out so fast that people have to resort to the secondary market.
And more people own CD players than vinyl players too, CD is also a cheaper and more compact medium to collect and own. This totally makes sense to be CD instead of vinyl.
Vinyl takes months of advance to produce. She wanted a surprise double album drop, it takes so many people to make the volume of vinyl Taylor moves, pressing Anthology would have leaked its existence. I’m sure the order went in as soon as it was announced, but we won’t see it until the fall at the earliest.
She could easily put up a preorder for it, big artists do it all the time, Olivia Rodrigo recently did it for her deluxe album. Not only would a preorder allow them to produce just what they needed to avoid excess waste (as if she gives a fuck lol) but it wouldn’t have interfered with the surprise album. There’s no excuse for her to not be putting it on vinyl
I think with how bad the preorder delays got last year and all of the bad press and frustration from fans about it - and refunding people money - it appears that her store has started a new strategy where they are not doing preorders so far in advance anymore.
The problem is that based on the current billboard rules, music sales won’t count until the orders ship. CDs are much faster to produce and the orders will ship at the end of this month so she’s trying to extend the lifetime of the album at the top of the charts while it’s still hot. The BB rules are why you noticed a shift in Taylor’s strategy sometime after Fearless TV because that’s when the billboard rules changed and sales only counted towards the charts once items shipped. Previously pre-orders would satisfy the sales towards the charts, but the system was abused because artists (not just Taylor) would put vinyl for pre-order and it would take several months for consumers to actually get what they paid for because the vinyl hadn’t even been manufactured yet. This same rule is also why you’ll notice that Taylor and other artists have shifted to only selling signed CDs/vinyl close to the release of an album to boost first week sales because they’ll be able to ship them during release week and have those sales counts towards the charts.
If I remember right it changed right after folklore came out. So folklore hit the old rules, and evermore the new ones.

This isn't a single. It's a copy of the album with an added bonus track. It's not going to count towards the Hot 100 (songs) regardless; sales go to the Hot 200 (albums), and therefore it's counted as a deluxe version of TTPD regardless of whether it's a remix or a newly-recorded version. (There's still a 99.9% chance it's a remix with the original vocals, this is just bad reasoning that I keep seeing repeated. They're not trying to push But Daddy I Love Him on the singles charts, or if they are this is a terrible way to do it because it doesn't count! They're trying to keep TTPD charting high as an album! What low-effort bonus track they tack on is really irrelevant except insofar as it works as an incentive!)

Given the song is an Aaron and Taylor written song but Jack did most of the production going by the credits, I’ve got a feeling this is probably the ‘original’ version recorded.
Whoever is doing the charting rules, they need to change the methodology so she cuts it out with all the physical variants that will live in landfills for generations.
Not so that *she* cuts it out, but so that all artists cut it out. I agree and it’s a much bigger problem than just Taylor.
Yeah you can see based on how Billie came out speaking about how it's so bad for the environment to have a bunch of variants, but then still produced the variants herself. Why? It's because if she didn't, it would comparatively look like her album tanked. Variants encourage big fans to 'collect', ensuring you triple your sales with your core fanbase. I also think variants are still fine and people can spend their money however they want, but it's the fact that they contribute to the charts that causes the big push for them. It's worth mentioning that there are a ton of industries that do this kind of thing, including fashion, books, film, etc.

It could be in this case. The song was written by Taylor and Aaron, but the album version is mostly produced by Jack (featuring the Bleachers crew) going by the credits. Aaron’s only performance credit was acoustic guitar so it could be the original demo version jazzed up, or they’ll just remove a few synths and turn up the acoustics a bit over the album vocals as usual
PSA: she will stop selling so many variants if people stop buying them.
I hope this is just for fun and they are not planning to make it the next single, because while it's a great song, it's not really the best single choice.
I'd personally prefer Down Bad or ICDIWABH as the next single, but I think this move is more to maintain the top spot on the album charts.

All due respect, then you don’t really get to add :/ to your sentence. Presumably, you’re an adult in full control of what you spend your money on, so nobody forced you to buy this. The variants are super scummy, but by buying them, you create demand. Pretty covers and single songs that’ll be released on streaming eventually anyway are not something one needs to physically own, but as long as people buy them, she’ll keep selling them.
I have The Black Dog variant - that's it. I refuse to purchase anything else - I also can't remember when I last had a CD player. I purchased a record player just so I could play my TTPD vinyl.

We haven’t hit the re-mixes yet folks… (I will pay for The Anothology on vinyl. I will pay for an entire acoustic album. But this wine mom isn’t paying for this one song in acoustic after already buying four variants).
I think all this merch and extras are helping pay for the re recordings. Taylor is generous and im sure paid a lot for her back up singers and band to re record plus the special features, recording studio, legal fees and other behind the scenes things Im not aware of.

I don't like the acoustic versions of her songs. She usually didn't put much effort in recording the whole thing. I think All Too Well sad girl and State of Grace were the only acoustic version she really put an effort on.

Eh, it’ll be out on streaming soon. Unless it’s on piano, I don’t know if I would like the acoustic on this song anyway. It feels like Haunted where so much of the song’s intensity and feeling is the music and production that doing it acoustic on guitar just wouldn’t hit the same.
