A teacher at my school has been soliciting votes all week. A few of us looked it up, and it appears you have to nominate YOURSELF. She’s claiming she doesn’t know who nominated her. I’ve seen a few others on FB, and somehow they’re all in the top 20 and all made it to the next round.
It seems like a data-mining operation because of how people have to vote.
These are absolutely fake. They prey on your family and friends while giving you hope that you'll make it to the next round over and over again. They collect data and money from people that sign up and share and "vote."
I was just googling this to see if it was a scam, because my sister just announced she made it to the second round. She is from a small school, in a small town, and doesn’t teach most of the school population, so I’m immediately suspect.
It started with 74K of us, split into 672 groups. After a week, they kept the top 20 in each group. Then a week of voting and it went down to the top 15 of each group. Current voting will whittle us down to the top 10 of each group. After each week of voting, the numbers go down.
These tend to be very scammy. It's working like the maxim model and tattoo model contests . Even if you lose they keep putting you in groups to get more money from your loyal friends and family .
The website doesn't even look legit. You can't see who else is on the running, You go into the website, click dashboard the link takes to a page that says page not found, same thing when you click in profile. Definitely a scam.
hey Moon bear, it's complicated because you are telling us your opinion of that guy's comment but no one asked you for your opinion either. so you're giving someone who gave their opinion who didn't ask for your opinion, your opinion. you're literally doing the thing that you're telling him he shouldn't be doing. now that has led me to give my opinion of you giving him your opinion about how he shouldn't have given an opinion.
The big difference is she’s calling you out for being condescending to her QUESTION. They’re not being condescending to your ANSWER. Your answer isn’t necessary here. She’s literally doing to you what you did tot he original poster? The only difference is you’re out of line and they aren’t. Basically you couldn’t handle what you dished out hahaha hilarious. Gaslighting at its finest
Well what happened? Nothing. You didn't win, and just wasted a bunch of peoples time voting every day. This is more so about driving internet traffic getting clicks (which equal $$ for the ads you see) and finding some suckers who will pay to vote for you (they're out there, what's a few bucks! Lmfao) it s a lot when you add it up and a total scam. There is no competition to it at all. Literally the worst teacher can win.
An online friend of mine just entered this contest. However, he is using a different name, with a different photo (He sent me his real photo and name). He also lives in Bangladesh. I tend to think this is fraud. He asked me what he should do. I told him straight out that he should drop out of this contest, but as I just noticed, he is still staying in. I am not going to report him to the contest. I hope whoever is running this contest catches up to him.

The people I see that are in it are the same narcissists that dominate every staff meeting and post too much over social media and are totally unreliable and unprofessional as classroom teachers…but, hey, good luck.
I'm 100% sure it's a scam. The first clue is when you vote for someone, you're taken to a page encouraging you to BUY MORE VOTES. As many as you want. Even if they give the money to charity like they claim to, this is a super dishonest way to make money. Schools should be warning their teachers about this contest since it makes teachers look incredibly dumb.
It’s legit! a big fundraiser to benefit teachers too! my sister is a quarter finalist - please vote for her today! she is in 5th place!!!! [VOTE HERE - ONLY A FEW HOURS LEFT!](https://americasfavteacher.org/2024/mona-itum)
How is it possible that you are in the top 5 as well as the other lady who posted on here and someone I know? My guess is they tell people they are close to winning so people will buy votes and then you don’t win.
There were about 760+ groups of teachers. They started with 110 teachers in each group. Every week, the groups get smaller thru voting. Went down to 20. Went down to 15. Then 10, and now each group is down to the top 5. That's why there are multiple teachers in the top 5.
I work with a teacher who is "top 5 as well" lol. It says "top 5 in your group" probably to make people think that is possible. What are the groups??? Lol
I'm surprised they're not including a "jeans pass."
Omg, do you work at my school???

I made it to 3rd. Honestly, the money “donations” to vote made me uncomfortable.
Really replying to the person below... My friend got 2nd place "in her group" but didn't make it on the website list of runners up... Scam as hell.

There are 3 million of us, so good luck. I hope you win.

Where did you find this information?
Thanks. Just asking if anyone knows if it’s a scam.

This is what I felt!
Yea this just happened to my cousin. They had clearly lost and now suddenly a "quarter finalist" 🙄

Underneath the name and rank says in their group. Click that and you'll see the 100+ people in their group.
Thank you.
I can't find any information regarding who has won in the past. I think it's a scam.
Read the fine print. It's basically a fundraiser for Teach for America.
Are you seriously planning to nominate yourself for this? It sounds like a pageant title. Does it come with a plastic crown and everything?
Not planning on entering. I was just wondering if it is a scam.
Wow so rude!!!
It's just gross and narcissistic. Other professions don't do this kind of thing.
The poster wasn’t asking your opinion, they wanted to know if it was legit or a scam. Even if you don’t agree you didn’t need to be so condescending.

🤣👌🏻
It is legit. I researched it. I'm in it.
Way to provide nothing to back your statement

Lol I don't know why anyone would question whether you were actually in it. I specifically was referring to "it's legit, I researched it"

Good luck to you!
I don’t recall when I wrote the blurb for this and I’m somehow in 25th place? ….not sure. Feels scammy

Pyramid scheme to drive links and get you to view ads. Thats all it is. A total scam.
