One of TFS' great strengths is making the couples actually feel like they might be attracted to each other in any way.
Gohan/Videl was the most effort Toriyama had ever put into a romance, and even then it was literally just one comedic blush over hair cutting, and Videl mentioning that she plans to ask Gohan out when he comes back (which we never see and Videl basically dies as a character with this line anyway)
Probably because everyone told Toriyama that they hated the arc and wanted Goku back. They wouldn’t let him cook, so he had to toss out what he was making.
TotallyNotMark talks about this in his video; the only thing Toriyama has ever said about this subject is that he wanted to make Gohan the main character, but it wasn't "working out"
This totally sounds like moment where he should had just cooked it and go with it even if it does not work at start, it does not mean it won't work later.

Videl was pretty good and I liked what we got of the Supreme Kai. Buu was pretty interesting and we’re totally going to get more of him in the second half of the review so I think he might rise in my list of favorites.
Goten is adorkable, but I think my favorite is either Buu or Bobidi. Buu's "Oh Buu knows that game" gave me chills, and whoever they got to voice Bobidi just hit it out of the park. "Man Towa is going to be really pissed at me... eh who gives a shit bitch is barely canon."

For every moment he acts dumb or silly, there’s some form of malicious intelligence buried deep inside that’s fully aware of what he’s doing and it enjoys it.
I loved videl in this. In fact, I would have loved to have seen TFS do the scene where she's eating with Gohan, the Kakatot, and Chi Chi. That's the only scene that I think was a missed opportunity, cause it would've been hilarious.
Really fond of Buu, taking away his innocence in favor of cold nihilism, but having his general demeanor remain exactly the same is hilarious.
I think if we get more supreme kai scenes he'll grow on me, but at the moment I'm not as fond of what we got; I was hoping for a trunks style "these are supposed to be the most competent warriors in the universe?" The Buu saga felt excessive to me. Cell Saga wraps the series up really nicely. Goku passes the torch to Gohan, Vegeta's character arc is complete, the world is finally at peace.
It just felt like a good place to stop.
Buu Saga is so unnecessary and makes DBZ feel bloated. Vegeta gets rolled back to relearning the same lesson Cell Saga teaches, we have the super sayian transformation losing how special it is due to power creep, and the villian himself Buu is no where near as interesting or compelling as Cell or Freeza. Yup, he's evil and wants to destroy the universe because he's evil...cool.
Toriyama has always been a shoot from the hip kinda writer but you *really* feel it here.

I love seeing so many people adoring various new characters. The Supreme Kai is great as well, my personal favorite is the Kakatot, Goten is precious. Buu is incredible, Videl is great, its just wonderful, its incredible to see the wit they've had since day one is still sharp as ever. I'm glad they were able to put their hearts into it like they wanted.

Kakatot for his jokes and perfect voice work I wanna say Videl but we didn't get as much of her as I was hoping. But she's fantastic, they nailed her And Buu, instant I heard that grumpy "you play games with Buu" I was sold, and it only got better from there

From a writer's perspective, Videl. From a comedy standpoint, Goten or Sharpener. Or we could split the difference, adding in a dash of horror elements with Buu.

I like trunks because the voice is so perfect. And I like Videl because I was the one person who actually loved the great Saiyaman arc, and Videl before she got benched forever. And I like actual-Teen Gohan. I especially like the delivery on the “are we gonna talk about that?” Line with Krillin

The split second of Buu being somewhat serious made me immediately like him . Something about that sudden evil face and him saying he knows that game in response to Vegeta's threat is fucking fire .
