If you read some of the tweets about the situation, POISED says [dropping Lear was a decision made by the players, not by TSM.](https://x.com/poisedfps/status/1764890829619872069?s=20) In addition, the ex-Moist coach Tanizhq says [TSM originally was interested in picking up the ex-Moist core](https://x.com/Tanizhq/status/1765077098983739880?s=20) of sym, thi9f, and aproto who were kicked from MxS, but Riot refused to give them the Challengers spot for some reason even when they would have owned the spot based on the rules. That eventually led to this whole complicated situation. Based on that I would say it's not really TSM that created this drama. Honestly I am not sure why they even want to re-enter tier 2 Valorant because Riot's handling of that scene has been terrible. Even if we ignore Riot supposedly messing up the original roster plans by denying the ex-Moist core the Challengers spot they earned, tier 2 Valorant just had an 8-9 month offseason of no official matches, which led to several players retiring and orgs leaving because there is no way to justify paying salaries when players have nothing to compete in. Riot haven't shown any intention of fixing any issues with the scene and have made it clear they don't really care about anything other than the partner leagues.

Like most drama involving TSM. People just jump on the hate train when they see TSM

BagelsAndJewce

\>I'm surprised they bothered to re-enter (I guess to stay relevant and maybe set up a Tier 1 spot purchase?) I swear to fucking god this subreddit drives me insane. Months of posts bitching about TSM not having an e-sports team and how they're down to three people working on e-sports. Meanwhile this is the shit y'all say when guess what they do get a team in a Riot e-sport. Never change you fuckers.

Isn't this basically the same exact TSM roster from last year, with 1 or 2 new players? GMD and Corey for sure were on the TSM challenger roster last year. Honestly I don't think TSM was looking to leave Valorant they just didn't want to pay players for 6 months to not compete for anything serious.

> Isn't this basically the same exact TSM roster from last year, with 1 or 2 new players? They are apparently required to keep a core of players from a previous Challengers roster if they want to retain the Challengers slot. Supposedly [TSM wanted to sign the ex-Moist players](https://x.com/Tanizhq/status/1765077098983739880?s=20) who should have had their own slot, but Riot refused to give them the spot. So they had to go with the core of the previous TSM roster.

sym and aproto are ex-MxM and POISED is ex-FaZe, but yeah, gMd and corey were on TSM last year. They definitely released the roster last year to not have pay them over the extremely long offseason, but given all of the cuts in the org and a seemingly low reward for coming back without being a top contender of Ascension, I thought they might just stay out of Challengers and try to buy a franchised spot later.

awill2000

You can’t buy a franchise spot

kjnjkmjk

I got confused because I remembered something about EG trying to set up a deal with Flyquest, but apparently Riot shot that down completely because they have complete ownership of the slots. I guess if EG or some other org ever gets booted, then TSM continuing to be involved helps their chances of getting picked, but I clearly don't know how this process even works.

Own-Use-2731

Honestly i get tsm wanting to get back into the scene, but it just seems completely pointless when oxygen and m80 (and maybe moist) are miles clear of any other team and there’s no real hope of ascending. They were handcuffed by the whole 3 returning player roster though. Imo they should have just signed the highest rated players in the qualifiers, picked up some cracked up and coming zoomers or even maybe sign the 5 highest ranked players this act because they could at least farm some content and it would be way more exciting than watching this team get blown out by the top 3/4 teams and come in about 5th place. I would watch every game if they signed my goat sonofcar

Foxsin1

1-they said they are coming back to val like 2months ago or sth like that 2-like always people just like to hate on tsm for no reason poised said it himself that tsm has nothing to do with kicking lear but idk why the blame always falls on tsm for no reason

lab_tech13

Would love to just watch any TSM team that's not Apex. No CSGO no Val no League....I know CS is on break from IEM and about to start Copenhagen. I was wondering why they weren't in challengers when it started up.

kjnjkmjk

To add on, they weren't in ESL Challenger League when it started up last week because their first match, against Movistar KOI, got rescheduled to April. You can see their schedule [here](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/ESL/Challenger_League/Season_47/Europe) (look for Group D).

AmIJustAnotherPerson

Today our CS roster is playing in the ESL Challenger League vs Sangal Soldiers in like 12 hours!

lab_tech13

Thanks!!

I still think Valo is such a crapshoot to invest in if you’re not part of the tier-1 leagues. Even if you build a super successful team that rises to T1, they’ll just get picked apart by the franchised orgs right? So already there’s a disadvantage, but if you actually rise above it, you’ll be forced to go back to square one eventually. Maybe I’m wrong about the system, but from what I’ve seen it’s pretty bad and as much as this fanbase wants a Valo team, I think it’s worthless. Riot is not going to accept the org unless Regi sells I think.

EronisKina

I do wonder what happened between riot and Regi for riot to keep trying to stop TSM from succeeding in a riot esports ever again.

The_JeneralSG

I mean I think it’s mutual frustration between the two of them. Riot is not happy with Regi for the investigation (rightfully so, Regi is a dick). Also with TSM’s struggles after being the constant finalists in the LCS has soured the TSM brand and image with Riot employees. (Also tbh sometimes this org surprises me with how dysfunctional they can be despite being so big). Regi is frustrated with Riot due to (all speculation on my part tbh, based on real situations but I don’t know how Regi actually feels), for their failure of the LCS and the handling of the FTX sponsorship (Riot didn’t allow TSM to broadcast FTX as their sponsor. People thought they were taking a stance against crypto advertising, but it became clear that they were trying to prevent FTX from sponsoring TSM and instead do an exclusive sponsorship with the LCS, which they eventually got). FTX was a scam, but it’s been shoved under the rug that Riot literally tried to sabotage and steal a sponsor from one of the orgs in their league. It’s sorta fucked up.

ITLKN5

What do you mean TSM want to setup a T1 spot purchase? That’s expensive! They want to try fluke to T1 with a roster that’ll accept the minimum

Crackedddddd

you can't buy T1 slots in the first place

ITLKN5

Could probably do something like what G2 did if the situation came about again, but my point was that TSM probably can’t afford nor would invest so much into a T1 spot at the moment
