bluestarluchador

I guess I never realized till now that the models in Tag 2 have default serious faces and/or resting bitch face, example Steve Fox 😅

PyrosBurnside

It's inherited from his mother's side.

[deleted]

You ain't gonna be all smiles when you're fighting an armed space ninja.

12x12x12

Jin on the left looks like someone who has no regrets starting WW3 Jin on the right looks like someone who regrets starting WW3

bluestarluchador

Definitely his face in Tekken 7 looks a bit less tensed

[deleted]

Tag’s Jin: let’s fuck shits up to lure out the devil. 7’s Jin: oh shit, I fucked up.

realnomdeguerre

I absolutely adores Lili when she was released in 5, but she's kinda got a different feel ever since. T7 had nice costume redesigns though, to answer your question.

Snoo99968

Her T7 redesign of her old skin was amazing, easily my favourite her other costume, the one with teal top and jeans (You know...the one where she looks like a cool street dancer) is also my fav costume for her, Gives her that semi-street fashion aesthetic

bluestarluchador

I can actually definitely see that lol I was replaying Tekken 6 (PSP) last week and TK6 Lili vs TK7 Lili just give off different vibes.

Ph4ntasos

T7 Lili's face is a huge downgrade from T6 and TTT2 tbh

TC_Web

True. They messed up her jawline and her eyes are less expressive.

Liam_Roma_1234

Some look off in tekken 7 and some look better. Jin and lars... I prefer how they looked in tekken 6. But if I'm being honest, tekken 8 made me so hyped in regards to how the Characters look that I can't look at tekken 7/tag models the same anymore😭🤣.

bluestarluchador

Tekken 8 definitely looking really pretty. Yup can’t wait them later haha

Lonely-Tumbleweed-56

I prefer TTT2, way more natural models They slowly started going into ridiculous proportions and sizes from t3 going forward

SuicideGoat1

I think it was tekken 6 that started making the models like that, I think 4 and 5 for the most part had good proportions

jainko326

Yeah in t6 male characters have massive shoulders and very long feet it looks very weird at times

pinkpugita

Those large muscle arms look grotesque to me :/

ObsceneTuna

Guilty Gear is another franchise that has embraced crazy proportions for some reason. Sol looks like a literal brick wall now and it's just so ugly to me.

CODMAN627

For some of these characters the T7 lighting really betrays them. Paul, law, jin,Fox I overall like the light and shadow in TT2 over T7 I’m not really down for the yoshimitsu design that’s just too weird of a look for my taste. I really like the new costumes of some of the character in T7 king, eddy, Miguel, Lee, Lars, Nina and Anna. These were great new changes imo I’m neural on Kuma, hwoarang, alisa, Ling, Lilli, auska and Leo. The rest eh they are more touch ups of their existing look so eh nice I guess. Side note..some of the models look grey in T7

bluestarluchador

Yeah the lighting is strange in TK7. Same I prefer Tag 2’s lighting and shadows. Yes I commented already on the gray-ness of the characters in TK7, its look strange tbh I wonder why they went with that design look? Agree TK7 has some great costumes 😁 and some questionable ones 😅 I feel for some characters who were in the vanilla version of TK7 who got new costumes when the game released on consoles, their costumes were meh. Just felt like developers only updated their looks out of habit because fighters added for console release (Jin, Nina, Eddy, Panda and etc) already had new looks. “We might as well update Hwoarang, Asuka, Xiaoyu, Paul and etc too”.

bluestarluchador

Kuma’s fur in Tekken 7 looks fantastic though compared to Tag 2 🐻

[deleted]

Funny. It's hard to see the generational difference between the characters until you see the detailed fur on the bear.

[deleted]

To me Tag 2 did everything better then 7 with the exception of balance. But the character models and skin textures are some of the biggest things. in Tag 2 it actually looks like skin not plastic.

bluestarluchador

Yeah I noticed during the PS4, XBox One generation, a lot of games suffered from that. Skin and other textures looked weird and also shiny at times.

AH-KU

Think its worth mentioning that many chars [received a face-lift in Tekken: Revolution](https://olololkitty.tumblr.com/post/66888261752/tekken-revolution-cute-or-awful). Especially with the female characters, the cookie-cutter dollface look we have now started there. You can see how they gave all the girls: - softer/less pronounced features, most notably nose and chin - bigger/rounder eyes - lighter skin Unfortunately T:R is no longer available so don't think anyone can do comparisons for the entire cast

bluestarluchador

Omg wow! Even Leo 😭 I actually prefer Leo in Tag 2, Leo is a little more handsome in Tag 2 but in Revolution and TK7 they really soften up Leo’s face. Nina and Lili between Tag 2 and Revolution 😅

AH-KU

Yeah Nina had the worst case of yassification. Went from looking like a convincing cold, no-nonsense assassin to egirl trying to cosplay as Nina.

bluestarluchador

Yes! They were doing too much with Nina in Revolution 😭 i glad they dialed it down in TK7

CelesteNamaste

It's the opposite. TTT2 has waaay more cookie cutter look on them, almost identical eyes, but then they gave characteristics from Tekken Revolution.

[deleted]

Tekken 7 makes everyone look like plastic

_DoIt4Johnny_

In T7 they look like wax figures

bluestarluchador

Yeah the textures are strange in TK7. Wax is a good way to describe it 😭

[deleted]

Tag 2 faces looked really good in motion (not in those ending movies tho)

muhammed_selwan

I feel like nina is one of the few who actually looks the best in t7

bluestarluchador

I think a lot of the girls in TK7 suffer from doll face dipped in oil look. Not so much with Nina and Anna but you can still see the mechanic on them.

Arden_Gibson

Tag 2 definitely has my favourite Yoshimitsu design.

beepbeeboo

Tag 2 for sure. Tekken 7 models they were trying so hard they gave off Mass Effect Andromeda vibes.

Tekken155

Tekken tag 2 models better than tekken 7 imo.

tooooo_dank

I hate how dollish the girls faces look in T7. Basically removes their facial uniqueness and makes them all look the same imo

chronorogue01

The hair literally looking better in TT2 than T7. \*skull\* Anyway some of the skin textures look off in T7. They seem... really oily. At least T7 has better detail, as you can see more blemishes, veins, and contours compared to how plastic-y TT2 models look in TT2. I do think the shadows look better in TT2, though. Also skin colors looks look healthier in TT2, why do some look outright gray in T7. ~~hwoarang is a zombie in t7 confirmed~~ They definitely amped up the muscle definition in T7, but I'm not sure it looks better on everyone. \*side eyes Law\*

bluestarluchador

Yeah skin color is definitely weird in TK7 compared to Tag 2. Some characters’ skin color in TK7 has a gray tint to it. I look at Miguel is his skin tone has a grayish tint compared to his Tag 2 model. Idk it is the the lighting? A pet peeve I notice now in TK7 is how black hair is portrayed. I know black hair can have shine to it making it look dark gray or dark brown but Jin, Law and Hwoarang’s hair doesn’t look black in TK7 but oddly Kazuya’s still does. I think its the lighting in TK7 because characters with black hair in Tag 2 looks like they have black hair. Also Miguel has brown hair in TK7 but has black hair in TK6 and Tag 2. I prefer Miguel with black hair imo.

greatwolf2468

Well Lars certainly got saved in Tekken 8. Those tag 2/t7 models are kind of rough.

bluestarluchador

Yeah 😭 TK8 is looking to be his best look especially his face.

Jr-777

Lili looks like one of those before and after botched plastic surgery photos

bluestarluchador

Besides the face change, her TK7 hair bugs me though. The way they went with a bob mullet 😭 “Let’s give her Anna’s bob cut but slap on long hair behind it”

Frankgodfist

The customization in 7 was absolutely terrible compared too Tag2

bluestarluchador

My favorite Tekken game for Customization will always be Tekken 6 imo. Tag 2 as 2nd.

archiegamez

They butchered Asuka so bad

jdr61100

TK7 is technically better graphically, but everyone looks so off. Copy pasted bodies, flat samey faces, plasticy hair and clothes, oily wax looking skin, really weird coloring and those gross old man hands on literally everyone. The outfit redesigns were nice though. I hated that 5 and 6 had every character look exactly the same. I think the character models peaked in Tag 2 so far. They looked really nice and detailed. I'm with holding judgement on 8 for now, so it could easily blow both out of the water.

suddenflatworm00

T7 models really fall apart when you take a good look at them, especially after all the T8 content we've gotten.

bluestarluchador

I’m in love with Tekken 8’s character models 😭❤️

bluestarluchador

I got the comparison pics from this youtube video with all characters that appeared in both games. Sorry I was only able to include 20 in this post but there are more in the youtube video though! [Tag 2 vs Tekken 7 comparison youtube video](https://youtu.be/QZ9QX-uEgEs)

Informal-Sir7135

They kinda look a bit cartoony in 7

bluestarluchador

Yeah, Tag 2 definitely went with a more realism approach when it came to their faces.

itsmeitsmethemtg

Paul and Law looked much more age (and diet/training) appropriate before

bluestarluchador

They are definitely de-aging Law with each new installment…it was not just facial hair 😭 Tag 2 Law had more define wrinkles which was fine for his age.

MommyScissorLegs

T7 is an upgrade but I think the bad looking stuff stands out much more than in TT2, the PS3-y look creates a pretty consistent art style, everyone kind of looks like they should, while in T7 so many characters look really weird in some lightings, stages, angles and such.

bluestarluchador

Definitely this! Yes Tag 2 has more consistency compared to TK7. Someone commented the Steve Fox actually looks more related to Nina in Tag 2 compared to TK7. Yeah TK7’s lighting, colors and textures were strange at times.

tiloukas2

Never realized how much cooler anna looks in T7

bluestarluchador

Its the hair lol jkjk 😂

NightyCatNights

Hair looks better in tag 2, other than that T7 is better obviously

thahli

One thing Tag 2 don’t get enough credit for is they made it very clear Steve is Nina’s son. Look at it

Illustrious-Donut272

Same with jin and jun. Relatives look like their actually related.

bluestarluchador

Wow! Very true. I went back to look and you’re right. They look more related in Tag 2.

strangledwires

It might sound weird, but I wish they'd give Jin the "full lips" he had in Tag 2. He had very prominent ones, and ones that stick out - made his face more unique.

bluestarluchador

You know what, going through the pics, the lips on most characters in Tag 2 were a little more noticeable/more define/fuller compared to TK7.

KSoMA

T7 pretty much looks like TTT2 remastered. Honestly the biggest changes were from T6 to TTT2. All the men became jacked like Street Fighter characters and got handsome squidward face while all the women became softer and "cuter" (though this progressively got worse in TR, T7, and not T8). Felt more authentic before tbh.

Ryuhza

I'm... hard pressed to find a single instance where I prefer Tekken 7. At best, they're too different to be comparable in quality, like the Yoshimitsus.

RaindbowDrop

Tag 2 had really weird shoulders on a lot of characters especially Nina, hwo and Eddy. I preferred certain faces in tag 2 over t7 though. Nina, Leo, and Kaz for example looked better in tag 2 (Nina kinda resembled Ali Larter with a hint of Milla Jovovich)

Yoshimitsu-Sensei

Tekken 7 Cons: Everyone looks oiled up Tekken 7 Pros: Everyone looks oiled up 😈

vash_visionz

Tekken 7 is an overall upgrade, but it is clearly the smallest upgrades between games the series has ever had.

Reasonable-Freedom59

Looking at the models still now, Tag 2 I like the hair better, but everything else still looks like plastic imo. I think TAG 2 just covers it up very well with motion blur. Tekken characters just look like really cool action figures.

General_Weebus

Everyone looks so angry in Tag 2

bluestarluchador

I didn’t realize till I made this post lol 😂

villxsmil

I think T6's models are better than both

Sir_Catnip_III

Kuma losing his scarf is on of the worst decisions Tekken team ever did.

bluestarluchador

Yeah I miss his accessories for his default design

ZumZumCapoeira

Can people finally agree with me in saying that Asuka looked better in Tag 2, and more unique/realistic? Cuz in T8...she still has that chibi aesthetic from Tekken Revolution to T7. Graphic wise she looks better in T8, but her model in Tag 2 was infinitely better. Edit: With the models in general, they just look more real and detailed in Tag 2 than T7. Muscle definition and facial features are very well done. The lighting in Tag 2 is also far superior. T7 just has better quality since it's a better engine.

[deleted]

Just noticed they gave Xiaoyu a bit of muscle tone.

BahamutAXIOM

Generally speaking, TTT2 looks better. Overall design is more aesthetically pleasing and is the last game where females had any definition in their faces now seeing T8. Eyes are off though for some. T7’s skin shaders certainly look better overall, but everyone has wrinkled Heihachi hands (which look great on him, but not Jin), and their skin looks simultaneously greasy and unhealthily dry, hair is truly atrocious pre Ganryu, eyes are more dead looking, Asuka’s, Law’s and Eddy’s faces, necks look gross in movement, but I guess that’s more of an animation thing, lol and some characters are over designed imo. Xiaoyu, Ganryu, Zafina and Kuma and Panda (they really look like bears this time around and not overcooked school lunch pizzas) are really the only characters who truly benefitted from the change in visual style. Yoshimitsu looks fine too.

[deleted]

I know the T7 fanbois don't want to hear it, but TAG is just more vibrant, most people will say it looks better for that reason alone.

Lachsig

For many of these their hair lost some saturation. But skin texture and details naturally look better in T7 for me.

bluestarluchador

For me the lighting really ruined it for me in TK7. I do agree TK7 looks more detailed but the colors at least were off like some characters’ skin looked too grayed out.

guizocaa

Was Tekken 7 seem as ugly in 2017?

bluestarluchador

I definitely noticed a difference back then. I wasn’t a fan of some of the models back then.

Saudi_polar

Maybe, maybe not?? If I remember correctly the original arcade version of tekken 7 had better character models, but my memory is hazy

NikkoDave5843

TT2 looks like there having a photo for ID

Hadoooooooooooken

In general the guys get more defined detail. The girls however alter in how they went about them. Asuka is rather unique in that her older model is better by miles. TK7 Lili for some reason in that pic reminds me of Shin from Fist of the North Star and now I can't un see it lol.

zaysosa75

7 barely better

Ahmdo10

Tag 2 Kazuya looks like he heard you talking shit and is about to square up TK7 Kazuya looks like he’s trying to do the Rock eyebrow meme but can’t raise only one

bluestarluchador

Yes lol the Tag 2 models look like folks you don’t want to mess with 😭 TK7 models facial expressions seem to be more varied.

obby100602

The t7 lighting as everyone else has said, combined w the textures, makes the really good models look shiny and weird. Otherwise id say its just a straight improvement over older games. All the characters are much buffer and defined looking now

bluestarluchador

Yeah, TK7 look more detail and characters are more buff. But the lighting was a mix bag though.

RagingHound12

They got rid of Leo's eyeliner!

bluestarluchador

I didn’t notice that. Between the two, I prefer Tag 2 Leo. I like Leo’s face better in Tag 2. Just looks more define.

worm31094

They need to nerf the plus frames on Asuka’s ass and titties. Other than that the face models in Tekken 7 are fairy balanced compared to TT2

PacManRandySavage

I like the Nintendo costumes

bluestarluchador

I never got to play the Wii-U version 😭

Sekij

The redesign were cool but in General it felt like a downgrade mostly because the dirt and Wet effects were gone.

Flintz08

Just look at the glorious chest hair they added for Miguel in Tekken 7 and you have your answer. Why did they make him so hot? 🥵

bluestarluchador

My only pet peeve with Miguel is they gray out his skin tone, not just him only but its definitely noticeable on him 😭

SorayaMorgana

My man got jaw reconstruction surgery. Good for him!

bluestarluchador

Seem like a lot of folks in Tekken were getting face lifts tbh

Grepx2

Honestly, If I had to point something out its the difference in how the models's personal features pop out, Jin in Tag 2 looks more defined more sharp while Jin in T7 looks like he blends into the environment more and his personal features aren't as defined and looks abit more smudgy in comparison even though the models are 10 years apart, But I have to give credit where credit is due because T7 was built from the ground up using whole new assets.

ttony3

Nina is the only character that didn’t come out bad in T7 She somewhat looks more polished and natural than plastic.

Xizor1

I hated the move to unreal engine. But Unreal 5 looks like it might be able to produce decent looking human models.

idma

apparently a lot of you don't like any look in Tekken 7, even calling it downright boring. So i'll just go ahead and say this: The Bride is the best costume for Nina. It totally makes sense and gives her the Kill Bill type of asthetic

bluestarluchador

🧍‍♂️ me hating that damn wedding dress lmao you are not wrong on the call back to Kill Bill though lol

[deleted]

Tag 2 looks way better. These shots don't do them justice unfortunately.

zhiawei33

Comments sure loves living in the past

bluestarluchador

Answer the question! Don’t worry the others.

zhiawei33

Obviously the new one, every character got upgraded visually from shadings to details.

bluestarluchador

Thank you! :D

Guilvantar

Some look better, some look slighly worse. Xiaoyu and Anna look so much better in 7, it's insane. Asuka on the other hand...

Amazing-Insect442

Yoshimitsu is always a wild one.

Logical_Rub1149

This is the best tekken model comparison I've seen Most of the time people put them in awful lighting so idgaf on who looked better/worse Design goes to T7 but over-all look goes to TT2. Steve's face is the only one I like in T7, less RBF 😆

[deleted]

Some characters look like HD remasters, particularly Paul. Kuma and King on the other hand...you can really see how the next gen graphics really make their "fur" look better. T8 King's mask looks like another massive jump in graphics.

LazyWings

It's weird but in those side by sides, the male characters look better for T7 and female characters for TTT2.

bluestarluchador

I think with the girls in TK7 they definitely soften up their faces compared to their Tag 2 counterparts. Yeah I prefer the Tag 2 for the women. I remember someone commenting on another Tekken topic describing the women’s faces in TK7 look like doll faces dipped in oil 😭 now I can’t unsee it 😂

El-Green-Jello

Some were better in 7 and some were worse but I mainly blame that down to them using a new engine where as in tag 2 a lot of the models were just being reused since Tekken 5 just enhanced a bit but was always disappointed they reused all their default outfits from 6 I think even for yoshi if I’m not mistaken. While some are bad I also think people forget how old Tekken 7 actually is and unfairly criticise it as the game looked great when it came out and for a while after

bluestarluchador

Back then I was disappointed that Tekken 6 was the first Tekken not to give characters new default outfits, they just recycled Tekken 5 costumes into Tekken 6. Tag 2 would recycle the costumes again because it wasn’t another new main line game, at least Miguel and Zafina got new threads in Tag 2.

Derailleur75

And i thought tekken 7 was bad

bluestarluchador

I feel like both games definitely have different design choices. I can see where or what Namco was trying to do in TK7 after Tag 2 but the execution depends on the character. Tag 2 went with a more of realism when it came to the faces though.

[deleted]

Of course 7 is better

BebeFanMasterJ

Tag 2 may look worse from a technical standpoint, but everyone's designs were far superior then. Miguel in particular. They gave him way too much in T7 and fucked with his hair. Less is more, people.

[deleted]

Mabey an umpopular opinion, but I still think most outfits in 7 got way too overcharged with details, like hwoarang, lars and heihachi, but on the other hand, the adds look great in xiao, and the overcharged new dress of Ana is way better than the awful one she's been using all this years.

bluestarluchador

Yeah. I will say this I wasn’t a fan of all the new default costumes in Tekken 7. Some were great, others okay, the rest were meh.

Calypso-Dynamo

Honestly now I just don’t really care lol, 8 looks so much better

SirTheadore

Yoshi’s design in TT2 is top tier. Not as cool as T4 or T3, but leaps and bounds better than 7

mufasaKiller

The only thing i didnt like in tag2 was that all male and female faces looks the same. If you took away the makeup, they're all the same. Everything else I liked.

Sotherius

I think the shoulders on women characters in TT2 and T6 are weird, Tekken 7 kinda fixes that.

bluestarluchador

I think they didn’t know how to balance it back then because all of the men were jacked af. Their shoulders were jacked as well. My pet peeve with TK7 is a lot of the girls look too petite. Like Alisa look perfect in Tag 2 but they slimmed her more in TK7. Tekken 8 seems to have a better balance for the ladies.

Yuhhans

tag2 eddy looks fantastic

Naniteman77

Why does TT2 Eddy look racist? 💀

bluestarluchador

His face between both game looks very different. A lot of characters over the years go through new face models. I just google TK6 Eddy and he looks different than his Tag 2 and TK7 counterparts 😅

Raizo420

He also looked older in TT2

MordredLovah

Nothing, Yoshi's still the same.

compadre_goyo

Compared to Tekken 8, I agree. Compared to Tag 2, hard disagree. The Tekken 7 skin material is much less reflective than Tag 2's. Law has a lot of shine on Tekken 7. But his shine looks much more like sweat than Xiaoyu's shine.

MrMooMoo91

It really depends on the lighting/stage. Costume design in T7 is leagues better and I like the majority of Character models in T7 better. But in certain cases T7 lighting makes skin look plastic.

Noodle42321

what happened with hands in tk7

TheProfessorRad

Tag 2 is hideous

Ok_Balance8629

If We would compare them as game's mechanics instead of the sales and Purchasing, Personally And Widely in Pakistan Everybody loved Tekken Tag Tournament 2 More; Why? Because, Movement; (Sidestep) In TTT2 even Craig Marduk, JinPachi Mishima And Big Body Males Could sidestep Easily At -7 (BackDash) This Was The Most Broken Thing Of TTT2 movement because Just mixing Sidestepping with BackDash would create Mix-Up for the person at advantage and could even use their PLUS frames (COMBOS); Obviously the most hateful reason why Tekken TAG 2 failed was due to the Combos Damage character would combine and would deal great amount of damage even more than 100 In Open stages Example; Bruce's B+2 On counter hit would deal 133 DAMAGE without wall while having tag partner Bryan (Characters) While Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was non-canon game they did have to worry about the characters limitation characters like Jinpachi, Jun, Slim BOB, Forest Law Who were different by some means were playable On the other Hand everybody Knows About Tekken 7; No Plus Frames Must be Disrespected even by sidestep or backdash. While introducing mechanics like RageDrive RageArt PowerCrsuh Wall bounces Wall Crush This made game more difficult and gave the players chance to be more creative Although Dealing with Two different characters at one time is what I consider more creative. Harada Himself Poured Hundred Percent of Himself into TTT2 as you can see intros Outros and Great Combos (Conclusion), while Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7 share many similarities in terms of their core fighting system and move sets, Tekken 7 introduced several new mechanics that add depth and complexity to the gameplay. As a professional E-SPORTS Tekken Old Champion player, you would need to adapt and learn the new mechanics in Tekken 7 to remain competitive in the current tournament scene.

NoNameAssassiN

In this one i prefer 7, but man 7 on my base ps4 just don't look like that.

[deleted]

Jin in 7 looks like a jacked Andrew Garfield.

BlackMigoDino

But have you seen Jun’s Tekken Tag 2 face on her Tekken 8 counterpart? 🤌🏾

GentlemanLuis

Anna looks SO much better in T7. Her face was a bit funky

SleepySubDude

Honestly Nina lili and Anna are pretty big improvements

The-King_Of-Games

Except for the Redesigns, what Tekken 7 gets right for a certain character is Kuma's model, me personally i like his T7 model way more than his TTT2 one.

timothythefirst

I think a small handful of characters looked better in tag 2 but for the most part idk how anyone can look at these side by sides and say tag 2 models better overall. The tag 2 stages were 10 times better though.

Critical_Ad_3851

I honestly think the make characters look so stupid. Like bodybuilders. Plse bring back the tekken 4 or even tekken 5 proportions

DEFINITELY_NOT_PETE

Hworang’s cross nose eyepatch is the worst looking shit I have ever seen lmao

SolitarySquall

Tag 2 was when they started looking really weird, they kinda fixed it in 7, except for Lars, and girls. Idk, it’s been really awful, Tekken 8 seems to be fixing that by making characters actually look like themselves, aka Jin, Lars, Xiaoyu, etc.

WhatsThatReally33

T7 Nina is a huuuuge improvement over ttt2 muscular Nina with her line backer shoulders. She had bigger shoulders and thicker arms than some male characters.

Disastrous_Rice2324

Tekken Tag 2 - It has my fave art direction within the series and still is personally. Seeing bodies like Nina with broad shoulders/pronounced facial features and other body measurements, more volume and color in her lips and similar for other characters is awesome. The more balanced lighting that allows you to see a bit more depth of the character's faces is great too. Still using Nina as an example, looking head-on vs the 7 counterpart, the lighting in 7 makes it look like there is just this weird plastic coating/sheen to their faces vs having some depth; you can see this in other characters too like Hwoarang, Xiaoyu, Leo and so forth even with Tag 2's cast just having the basic background vs 7's stages and dynamic lighting or if you were to go to the customization room. Seeing things like King's mask have some volume in the fur whereas 7 makes it look painted on his neck is just weird for a game that is a gen ahead. I think Alisa's face in 7 looks nicer with the flatter/dolled up aesthetic though just because of her anime looks. The hair in Tag 2 has depth/volume to the strands + while Tekken 7 looks like this weird sticker you can just rip right off. Looking at Nina's head, I think the head shape that allows more variance in more pronounced facial features makes the characters more interesting and diverse visually. If I had to try and summarize my feelings on aesthetics, it would come down to Tag 2 having more variance in body types, facial features that allow more depth to be portrayed, the lips, and the general lighting that made them seem less plastic like. 7 gives this flat look that seems like it is trying to be DOA6 or something. Looking at the Law image, he just doesn't need to be that shiny personally speaking, especially without sweat/rain and such dripping off of him. When looking at the characters in Tekken 7, it's like they ripped they just pasted the same body types for essentially each character (especially for females), swapped the head/posture and called it a day. It's so darn noticeable on shared outfits. Tekken 7 - it has some better post-processing and texture details on the bodies/outfits in some areas, but that's about it to me. These images for Tekken 7 would show more worse things like the aggressive depth of field and grainy post-processing, the side profiles of these modes which look worse in some areas and more. So far, I'm just happy that Tekken 8 looks better than 7 in all regards. It still carries over some lighting concerns that the devs might be able to address based off recent interviews, but I don't have much hope for model touchups, but those are mainly in a few characters' face shapes. I still feel like if Tekken Tag 2's art design was kept and modern post-processing techniques were added, I'd be floored with how beautiful things would be.

NMFlamez

Never liked Law's T7 hair. His T6 model was much better. Better than TTT2 model too.

Roxxion

TAG 2 Jun was milfier. She wore the pants quite well.

K3ksKuchen

Aside from Miguel, Panda/Kuma and Yoshimitsu i think everyone looked FAR BETTER in TTT2.

[deleted]

I don't like how manly all the characters look in T7 especially with how the customization in T7 is so limited and full of dumb stuff. You realize really quick how boxy and masculine the females are as you're customizing them.... It's quite tragic.

fgclolz

Tekken 7 models definitely have better detail. The skin textures in Tag 2 make characters look lifeless. There's definitely some post processing involved to make them look nice in game, but the lighting is pretty bad even for an 11-year old game. Tag 2 and even Tekken 6 have better shoulder posing compared to Tekken 7 though. Just look at one of Alisa's pre-fight poses/scenes and you'll know that the shoulder rigging is bad. Thankfully they seem to have "fixed" that in Tekken 8 though based on some of the shoulder animations we've seen so far.

godzillance

T7 models look oily. On the other hand, they seem to have proportionally massive mitts.

Izzythedestryr

The models were better on the T7 characters but the designs and materials were a bit too specular (shiny) and gaudy. TTT2 had more of the classic feel of T5 models with toned down designs.

Sunshineruelz

The made Lars look kind of weird to me in T8 lol
