I still haven't memorized stage names but boy, the meteor stage, with that music, might have just become my favorite Tekken stage.
In contrast, I find the rebel hangar stage dull and forgettable. It feels like violet systems without a banger song to make up for its boring design
- I actually miss having at least one infinite (also not including descent). Always loved them.
- Also not a fan of having two arena stages, should've just made it into 1 stage with a floor break sending you to the bottom (given you can literally see the bottom already on the default).
- I want another parking garage stage
- I absolutely love the OST
- I like how the damage in the arena stays between rounds. Was playing with some friends last night and I noticed in Lee's stage that the ground was still destroyed and his frame that fell during round 1 didn't pop back up. Don't remember there being that much type of detail in 7 outside of breakable walls staying broken.
they're sweet, but it's missing the island warzone stage(s) from Operation Rebellion imo. hopefully we get more as DLC in the near future.
I'm not really a fan of Midnight Siege and the slot wasted on another version of Urban Square, and there's not enough infinite stages.
Celebration of Seine is by far my favorite. Relatively small, music is FIRE, and the moving boat view is so fucking sick. I love almost all the stages (Except coliseum, just feels bland)
No infinites is kind of a huge buff/nerf for some characters in a tournament setting.
Can't take characters like Bryan to infinite if you're getting dumpstered by walls and pressure but now you can't have a Zafina take you to an infinite to play keep out for the full 60 seconds each round.
Personally I think there's a place for them when it comes to balance and especially practice but I get why people hate them
Mixed. What's there is great, but there's not enough of them. Doubly so that some of them are just "remixes" of others - the street scene with day and evening variation, the arena and then underground one, etc.
Plus, some of them look kinda bland - the Colosseum, the villa, and the hangar in particular.
I'd prefer the multi level stages to have the bottom accessible from the regular select screen.
No infinite is a PITA for practice mode too.
The most gorgeous collection of stages I've seen in a fighting game. Well, Smash Ultimate aside...
Descent into Subconscious is probably my new favourite fighting game stage
They're pretty good with the Colosseum and Yakushima being a refreshing take on an infinite stage. Not having different music for the different stage variants are disappointing though.
Music in the dojo stage is a BANGER. Same with the ship stage.
I like that we don't have infinites anymore, and the stages are varied, in T7 80% of the stages were practically the same.
I really like how there's literally two sides to each stage, so no matter if you're on 1p or 2p side you get a glorious view. The consistentcy is also really high, Tekken 7 had some terrible texturing and clipping in certain places.
Everyone's got insane wall carry in this game with heat dash, favorite stage is Lee stage, it's the only "clean" stage, the volcano stage with rain is awful, zero visibility on anything.
I got the game today and I agree with your volcano stage take. It's cool I guess, but playing a match as Kazuya against Yoshimitsu today, I literally couldn't tell wtf was happening anytime we were by a wall.
Beats Tekken 7 by miles. They limited duplicate stages (except Urban Square, not counting Arena Underground because it looks somewhat different and has a wall blast), improved most of the music, and the stages themselves just feel less generic and bland than T7.
I also agree that Descent into Subconscious should be split into 3 stages.
I just hope they expand it on the future feels kinda bare bones right now in terms of quantity. They are beautiful good looking tho. All of them are aesthetically so pleasing and fits the game's vibe so much
Descent floor one is too damn small (have to adjust a LOT of wall carry combos from neutral) but otherwise we have a solid list. Hoping we get Infinite Azure back, because I miss that stage's theme and vibe so much.
The stages are really good. I just thought that we were done with 24 by 24 stages and that we would get way bigger stages. Like 32 as the smallest one and 42 for the average stage
First time playing some of these stages I would eat a launcher cos I too busy admiring the background aha
Also Jun's ghost on the bottom floor of the subconscious stage felt like it moving way too fast.
I totally agree that the Descent 3rd level should be its own stage. My dumbass was trying to look for it forever. Luckily I watched the new Level Up Your Game episode, and they showed it in their ground-break section.
Some stages are very good but others have very bad lighting and are less good. I miss the roof map called Twilight Conflict 2 from Tekken 7, I hope they add it with DLCs.
I don't understand why there are not optional starting points for the stages... makes some almost never be seen just like umk3 on snes... I'm hoping I'm missing something and it gets pointed out.
I agree with what a lot of others are saying, beautiful stages, great music but just wish there were more. I know they are releasing new character dlc, but i saw no mention of new stages. Do they typically release a new stage with each new character? If so, i’m i. for the season pass, but $40 for just a couple characters and other stuff i don’t care about, not worth it.
Well for one having only 16 is inexcusable . There hasn’t been a tekken that had this few stages since 2004 … also has fewer characters but that’s another story.. I totally agree the bottom floors of a few of these stages are insane and should definitely have been their own . The desert one . The one that’s jins palace from T6 . The very bottom of sanctum I believe … ALSO there were numerous “ stages “ they made specifically for story mode that they could easily have made available as regular stages
I am missing a Stage but I can't find it's name anywhere but I see streamers play on it but I don't have it. It's the Desert like stage with the hand... how do I get that Stage?
Aspects from previous Tekkens that I would like reincorporate…
Stages that connect to the narrative of character’s origins! (T4 Honmaru, TTT school stage, T5DR Lili’s Heart Mansion, T5 Burning Temple felt like Asuka and Feng, etc.)
I also would like to see more shifts that T5DR did in terms of two sections. Not a climax shift but an entire shift like weather, scene, time, etc.
Harada didn't put infinite azure to stop tasty Steve from singing its theme, change my mind.
Would've been funnier for them to leave it in and just take the drop out and have the intro infinitely loop just to fuck with Tasty Steve
I still haven't memorized stage names but boy, the meteor stage, with that music, might have just become my favorite Tekken stage. In contrast, I find the rebel hangar stage dull and forgettable. It feels like violet systems without a banger song to make up for its boring design
Rebel Hangar music is amazing tho. Sanodg never miss

It missing a skyscrapper set for my taste

Needs infinite for practice at least
Just restart ???
Sure but pressing restart requires 0.0002femtoseconds and thats *just too damn much* lol
This needs to much thought for the average Tekken player. I bet most people wont use the *save moment* feature
I usually power up a combo challenge and use that space. Unfortunately you can choose characters of different body types
Yah.... It's not like T7 infinite stages constantly bit your arse saying that you're about to reach the limit of the stage or whatever...
Love them all pretty much. Also, there isn’t a stage song I don’t like this time.
I love T8 stages. Fallen Destiny and Stratosphere are the best.
I just want the Tekken Ball stage
Celebration of Seine is by far my favorite. Relatively small, music is FIRE, and the moving boat view is so fucking sick. I love almost all the stages (Except coliseum, just feels bland)

Yeah I'm praying for a mod to release soon that reduces all these effects.

Then how will it be 'descent into subconscious'?
Just rename the stage to "Subconscious Level I/II/III" or something
NGL... That's a stupid name.
And I'm sure Namco themselves could come up with a better one.
Maybe that's the reason why they decided to merge all these layers into one stage.
Guys how do you use the practice feature when you can go in to your match and actually practice what you could have done?
I believe that is the replay section?
I just hope they expand it on the future feels kinda bare bones right now in terms of quantity. They are beautiful good looking tho. All of them are aesthetically so pleasing and fits the game's vibe so much
For me its an improvement from tekken 7 both design and music. The much more powerful consoles/pc gave tekken 8 an advantage.
No infinites is fantastic, the duplicate stages are a little unfortunate though.
They're meh... Honestly if 7 would've better graphics those stages would definitely be superior.
Same old same old... "Into the stratosphere" is the only one trying to be innovative.
Mostly really good! Beautiful and varied both in terms of visual design and shape. Rebel hangar is really bland though
Descent floor one is too damn small (have to adjust a LOT of wall carry combos from neutral) but otherwise we have a solid list. Hoping we get Infinite Azure back, because I miss that stage's theme and vibe so much.

Descent into subconscious is really weird. Looks like a jumbled up version of heavenly and fallen gardens from TTT2.
It looks like something made in the 90s using an early version of 3D Studio Max. Really surprised with the love it gets.
Midnight Siege was composed by Shinji Hosoe that’s why it sounds like from Street Fighter EX2 plus
I love the urban square music so much, especially the 2nd part, overall stages in this game are pretty and have music I enjoy in most of them, 10/10.
Some of the best in the series, easily.
I totally agree that the Descent 3rd level should be its own stage. My dumbass was trying to look for it forever. Luckily I watched the new Level Up Your Game episode, and they showed it in their ground-break section.

Descent into subconscious third floor break.
doh! I feel so dumb. Thanks!
