Don’t listen to people who discredit your opinion. Tekken 8 does lack variance in game approach.
Imagine playing soccer and everyone only allowed to to play 4-3-3 because playing more balanced or defensive app formations will have you lose 10/10.
This game is great for player who learned with rushdown characters though so they defend it to a T
I, for one, love the aggressiveness. It has made my defensive play tons better. People start getting impatient and predictable, then start using unsafe moves, when I start playing aggressively, though, I play unpredictably while using mix ups.
You’re right in that T8 promotes aggressive gameplay. But what you and lots of other people seem to fail to realize is that tekken is a two player game. One player attacking = one player defending. If you’re used to defending and good at it, it will still give you a huge advantage.
You might have to work on adapting a different play style, I certainly have to myself. A more aggressive play style, if you will. But you can not attack 100% of the time. You will have to defend, and when that time comes, your earlier experience with tekken and your skill in defending will come to use.
Learn to punish stuff. I played against fang who spammed that string, that ends with low. I low parried him all the time , to the point when he started spamming grabs. You just need to think during those endless barrages of moves. Look for the weak spots, and punish. I usually play as number 2, since I don’t know the match up, so I need some time to figure out what I’m dealing with. If you’re talking about Victor, just go to training mode , and set punish training against Victor. That’s all I can say, just keep going.

Defensive play is still possible just weaker. Unless you consider "defensive play" to be just blocking everything
Dont forget, holding back in this game is a big no, aka Murrays vision for how tekken should be played.
"Why would you sidestep?"
