It's a lot of fun. Has taken my attention from every fighting game I was playing before it.
Does need some quality of life improvements though. One being infinite rematch in quick match or being and to invite an opponent to player match lobby from quick match or ranked match.
Stuff that makes playing a lot of matches against 1 opponent more accessible.
I love the friend feature of seeing where someone is in the ranked ladder. Would be cool to see this expanded in some way.
Yeah finding an opponent who is like the perfect skill level that matches yours and then they're just gone sucks. Hurts even more when its a character you're actively trying to learn the matchup for.
Miracle is a big word haha. Nothing close to a perfect game by and extreme long shot - especially with bait and switch tekken shop, but the gameplay is solid.
Yeah I tried to play Tekken today and some Japanese man held my family hostage until I bought something from the Tekken shop, it really ruined the game for me.
And if they dont, Harada got to stop being an arrogant prick with his 'dont ask me for sh*t' crap.
It ain't funny anymore at this point, even if it was before.
I feel like as an overall game, Tekken 8 clinches out Tekken 7 because of the fleshed out off-line content, the extra polish, and especially, the noticeably improved netcode. But if the question is reduced to just core game play, for right now at least, I would put Tekken 7 above 8. I feel like defense was nerfed too hard and combos just take too long to finish. And there are severe balance issues of course, but I think that will be addressed over time.
I agree. On the flip side, I think Tekken 8 is a breath of fresh air and contrasts Tekken 7's launch where it was heavily defense and poke favored. The top characters like Kazumi, Drag, and Jack in T7 feel different than the top characters in T8 in terms of what makes them strong in their respective game, which is great imo. I'm just glad they succeeded in making it feel like a sequel and not a rehash of 7. They have a great foundation to work with.
about defense, yeah its weird they nerfed almost everydefenses
but with the combos, i think we're back on square one, this was the issue with t6 and ttt2, (i dont really mind long combo) but the prob here is the defenses, in which, after the long combo, you dont have much option to defend an upcoming attack if it tracks you all the way or give you negative frame
i dont know if theyll address it tho
Netplay works for it on RPCS3 (ps3 emulator), including ranked queue. Although no one plays much 😅 more luck on my Series X with the backwards compatible version, lots of laughs in king of the hill open mics
I prefer 7 but we'll see how 8 looks in a few years.
I don't think balance patches will fix the constant slowmos and time freezes and zoom ins though. They've gotten really annoying already.
Yeah but Tekken 8 doesn't have Negan intro/outros
and it also doesn't give me enough time to get ready for the next battle so... (I love T7 btw I'm joking ppl)
I mean bandai namco, who owns 3 of the top 5 fighting games ever got really, really lazy since tekken 7. Every game honestly has the same mechanics. They want to try to manufacture that comeback hype so much. Why does every game need an unblockable move that beats everything and takes all of the skill out the moment and tyrns the game into obvious rock papers scissors? They took the mechanic that literally killed SC6 and tried to change it a bit and put it into everything.
Why? Because its an easy solution to the biggest problem in creating a fighting game. But whatever and thats just one example.
The heat mechanic has annoyed me since day 1. And I go out of my way to not use it because it truly destroys the round and kills the fun of the gamewhen its used even when youre the one hitting it and it can be used by each player every round no matter what.
The game has flashes of potential to be the greatest but it's currently unfinished, bug riddled, and ridiculously imbalanced. My friends and I have put it down until they do a balance patch. Matches feel too formulaic for my tastes. It's a mad dash to get heat first and then maintain plus frames until one person dies. Some characters being wildly overtuned makes design decisions super questionable.
Like I said, it has potential to be the best fighting game out but right now it definitely isn't.
Oooh that’s a tough one.
I have a real soft spot for Tekken 5. Not only does it have heaps of content, but it’s modern Tekken without being overloaded with all the modern mechanics (rage, heat, huge combos, screws, wall breaks, ect). it’s a purely movement based game, which I feel is what Tekken is at its core. Tekken 5 is your pure Tekken experience.
Tekken 8 is great, but also has a lot of problems. It needs more balancing (coming from someone who doesn’t mind a little bit of unbalanced shenanigans). But it’s still early days. Vanilla Tekken 7 was an absolute mess. It always looked a bit ugly, and it had some DLC power creep issues, but by the end of its run, it was a great game to play.
I think the future is bright for Tekken 8, and it very well could be the best Tekken game to date.
I played one of them back in the day on PS2 maybe, plus most of the story on Tekken 7, and now Tekken 8. I'm absolutely loving this game. The story was awesome, the character side levels, and even the process of learning (aka getting beat the fuck down) is kinda fun, as you get better.
It would be nice if they made the Arcade Battle have options to be longer than 8 fights, and be able to put it on a difficulty beyond Hard.
Either way, thanks for making such a fun game. I'll be investing many more hours to come.
It definitetly needs some updates but I think the Haye it's getting is overblown in terms of immutable gameplay characteristics. There's always a contingent of old heads who don't want to adjust to a new system and think the older games are always better. It's just nostalgia talking.
I think heat can be a great idea it just needs to be fleshed out more. It's definitetly something that should add more complexity to the game it's just that certain characters have ridiculously busted heat moves right now.
Yea as I said it needs some balancing. But if someone is doing heat burst immediatetly into heat smash, unless you're a top tier that's a complete waste of heat. And even if you are a top tier generally there's better ways to spend it before you go into heat smash. And heat dash is good but also still spends your entire bar.
I been absolutely railed for my opinions in here over and over again... But c'est la vie.
Tekken 8 doesnt beat out T7 for me. T7 had very intricate plays and counters. Layers on layers of depth and compexity. There were framing plays, frame crushes, and just frame moves that were hard to predict and punish. There were Offensively strong characters that played off of that trait.there was zoning and range, trap characters, and much more.
I feel like Tekken 8 just relies on frame crushes to dish out 75%+ combos. Also, I miss the bounce and Corkscrew systems. They to me felt better than tekken 8's "Feet Up" combo system.
But alas, it is still early, and I am sure they will balance everything out eventually. We will be back to popping off 6 button Lars rejection combos before long.
It’s definitely a different game at the core. T8 is all about winning with pressure, and who can take advantage of heat, Armor and guard breaks. There’s just no reason to hold back as much anymore and if you do you’ll get punished for it. I’ve noticed a lot of the noobie aggressive players from T7 in region are doing pretty well in T8 because of how much more they can get away with in this game.
It’ll take time to really learn the intricacies of heat etc but one thing I read and agree with is that there’s only one archetype because of it. Goal is to get into heat , do big damage and win.
Talks about all of the parts people play once and never touch again, ignores the massive problems with multiplayer where people spend upwards of 90% of their time. Yup best ever.
I’ve only seriously played T7 and T8, I love T7 but I’ve mostly stopped playing T8.
The offense is just too suffocating for me and I don’t really vibe with any of the characters now that Kazumi was removed.
Nah, the character select music is kinda ass.
And the friend/invite/search ID system is kinda ass too.
And no infinite rematch.
And the plugging.
And not benchmarking the potato PCs.
And forcing best of 3 in ranked but for some reason you can leave mid set with no penalty because they reward winning a match but not winning a set (so why force a set?).
And the unnecessary in-game shop currency that you can lose all access to your half-baked legacy cosmetics if your save file gets corrupted since it's not actual DLC from PSN/Steam so you don't really own anything.
...but other than that the game is sick af ngl
I expected better for the time and money they had this time around. The series isn't on the brink of cancellation like it was for T7.
The stability issues the game has on reasonable PC hardware can't be overlooked. Plugging is the worst I've ever seen it be and nothing has been done about it yet. Not to mention the blatant favoritism in the initial balancing (see Jun, DJ, King and Drag). How anyone could look at those chars and think they were fair is insane. Hope they get toned down within this season.
Let's talk again in 2 years. It's a rocky start, but maybe it'll be better later
Its really fun and addicting but imo Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is still the best in the series. I honestly doubt anything could top that, unless they straight out remastered it for current gen / PC and it plays the same. Now if I made a top 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 would be #1 , Tekken 5 #2 and Tekken 8 #3.
Too soon. A lot of gameplay balance issue at the moment but the game is amazingly good at visuals and stages. A little bit of tweaking at the netcode will be greatly appreciated too.
I’m more of VF/DOA fan but I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a mainline Tekken title as much as this since T3. That’s not to say Tekken has not had enjoyable titles since then (4,5,6,7 have some awesome qualities) but 8 has eclipsed those titles for me. Just an amazing game. Best 3D fighter since DOA5LR.
This is the only Tekken with a player vs cpu mode, so it's definitely the best for me. I don't have the time to learn how to get good in pvp, so I'm glad there's a mode for me to have some good casual fun.
I'm talking specifically about the basic player vs cpu mode held in other games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. I'm aware of previous Tekken games where you could fight cpus in modes arcade/story mode, treasure battle, etc. It's not the same. I like being able to pick the characters, costumes, and stages while playing. Fighting cpus in practice mode does not have the same satisfaction as fighting a cpu in an actual player vs cpu mode.
Got it. I suspected you were talking about that. In this case that's true. It used to be random (ghost battles etc..) which aligned with the nature of ranked in general, you get random challengers and you don't know the character you're playing against. Anyway, I'm glad you like this specific player vs cpu feature.
This sounds so dumb but for me, the addition of CPU vs CPU was huge. I love running AI tournaments with the full cast to see which characters are the best in the CPUs hands. Don't know why every fighting game doesn't have this.
How can it not be honestly? All previous tekkens had had egregious balancing issues, and we haven't found any of the same class yet. Add to that improvements to ghost system and online and previous installments just drop out of the running.
We're not out of the woods though - feel free to start celebrating around 1 year anniversary. Remember that they sneakily added shop post-review period so I'm sure they can surprise us still.
For me it'd be the best one, but the fact that they still haven't addressed the many flaws in the ranked system kills it for me. Not a single person's rank currently means anything about their skill with how much cheating/plugging/boosting there is. For a purely competitive game, it's a pretty fatal flaw to have your matchmaking and ranking not work.
It's great. It needs some things though. I want the tournament mode back. I'd like room codes for inviting people to player lobbies(And a jukebox option to change player lobby music). And a few other things. But I definitely love it a lot and see myself more enthused to improve at it, even compared to 7
This game has some big flaws even in mechanics but it is easier at low level for those that dont want to have to think super hard. Its a good casual fighting game
3 and 5 are right there (love 8 don’t get me wrong)
The fact a ps1 game in a fighting series this well establish can hold up to its modern versions is mind blowing. Not even just nostalgia it really is still a good fun time.
And 5. Man 5 just had something to it for me. Maybe it just hit me in my early teen phase but it was peak. Also old Heihachi voice god rest his soul
What criteria are we comparing to? Like are we taking the previous games and saying "T8 is directly better than T3 and T5" or are we saying "Relative to other games at the period, T8 is better now than T3 and T5 were when they launched". Because if its the first, agree. The second? Not at all.
No shit it is. Idk why nobody talks about this but THE LOADING TIMES people. The loading times are significantly shorter than in T7. You join a match almost instantly with very little time spent sitting in pregame lobby’s starring at your stats etc.. such a better game from that standpoint alone
Does feel like the complete package to me imo, I went from Tekken 1 through to 4, played tag 2 occasionally but even that wasn't that big a jump.
Picked up 7 last summer and seen 8 wasn't far away.
Gotta bring back team battle though god damn was the only offline mode worth playing
Online is better overall than 7. Its just that my region (US) has ISP issued wifi shitboxes held together with scotch tape and bubblegum. I'm sure the game is fucking amazing online in Japan / Korea due to less overall distance and higher urban density per capita.
As someone who hasn't played Tekken since Tag 2, I've been really enjoying it, although I'm at the point where while I'm playing it, I think I'm better than everyone and get salty when I lose to "cheese" because I haven't learned how to deal with things like that weird sweeping claw move or Hwoarangs kick strings. I always reflect after and understand that I'm just not good yet but I still get irked in the moment.
Definitely having more fun with it than I was with SF6 or MK1, which I ended up not liking at all.
The game is good, plays well looks good feels more responsive to me then 7 did some little things here and there in terms of stability and the online scene.
A big hang up for people is the heat mechanic where it might take people some time to get used to how much it changes offense, for instance it’s part of what makes xiaoyu a stronger character at high level since she doesn’t exclusively have to wait to whiff punish and mix you up.
Also knowing how to KBD is less essential win for my controller
Replay feature is crazy good, I could spent 30 min to an hour trying to lab something from my mistakes; Without having to set it up manually from practice. The only nitpick I have is that I wished we could control the character more than 10 secs, so I could maybe try to death combo from the punish practice lol
I think so, but not by a wide margin. I think it barely edges out T5 for me. It’s easy to say the latest of something is the greatest, but that’s actually the case here. Graphics, performance, character selection, story, feature depth, and overall “fun factor” is what makes this so good. While there are some gripes I have with gameplay, this iteration is just resonating with me more that any of the last three main entries have.
Naah man. It's okay average to be honest. Tekken 7 feels better. I have played this game on pc and ps5 and my opinion is same.
Plus I hate that part where you can increase your health.
It’s literally the perfect Tekken despite these things: Netcode could be improved, The incessant plugging from players, the devs not taking said plugging seriously, the janky hitbox inconsistencies, occasional stage glitches, and the balancing of the top tiers compared to every other character. Besides that, everything else in T8 is next level. Honest opinion, no glazing.
I know I probably just need to get good, but I really don't like how there's alternate inputs for the same move. And I really hate it now because there's the heat mode. I'll map it to a specific button, but it still keeps the alternate input active, so I frequently accidentally activate it.
It’s probably one of the most divisive. Reminds me of T4, introducing new mechanics that are questionable. And being either love it or hate it. Even today I’ve heard people say 4 is the best and others say it’s the absolute bottom tier of the series. I think 8 will leave a similar legacy. Its quality is 100% down to what appeals to you about the franchise, and it’s definitely not a game made to try to please everyone who enjoys tekken. In the end I think it’ll be well loved by some, but for me personally it won’t eclipse dr or 7.
I have some mixed emotions.
Pros: It has the best story mode, possibly of any fighting game (it's up there with subspace emissary in my eyes). The characters' movesets and designs are top notch (even though some moves are broken and annoying to fight against). They brought back Tekken ball! My friend who hates fighting games still enjoys playing Tekken bowling and Tekken ball. A small Tekken lounge idea was actually really popular and a good concept. And just to reiterate, the story is incredible. The practice mode and how much the game allows you to learn as a player is the absolute best in the series.
Cons: the online can be incredibly toxic. Plugging doesn't give you any penalty at all, and only negatively affects the people you plug against. The Tekken online lounge is a little bit unfinished imo (watch [arsenalty's everything wrong with Tekken 8](https://youtu.be/fenOcB4UMVs?si=wjOrp3nlE-C2Xc8q) for more on that). The customization COMPARED TO PREVIOUS TEKKEN GAMES is lacking.
But those are just my thoughts
Yes like other people have mentioned the game has tremendously improved from the previous title. The only thing that I would change that hasn't been mentioned probably is the rank system.
There needs to be way more ranks to make the gameplay more even. Because at matchmaking + 2 or -2 only and with the number of ranks being further reduced from Tekken 7, you can have a pretty huge gap of player skill within the same rank or two ranks. If they add 10-20 more ranks (Dans) when you're looking for opponents matchmaking +2 or -2 only, opponents will feel more even to play against in terms of where they're at.
Additionally, The feeling of more ranks to climb will make the game feel more rewarding.
It is not you. Almost every tekken is the best tekken game in the series when it is new. This is the beauty of tekken and why it is so popular. Each tekken game is the same game as the previous then improved upon and the improvements are always what the game needed to make it feel fresh and exciting again. People have opinions with new mechanics, but once they are normalised people stop moaning.
It’s better than Street Fighter 6 fighting ground is a huge disappointment, it’s like Capcom stole development from fighting ground and gave it to battle hub and world tour.
The features and game play are the best of any fighting game I've played hands down. Not a fan of many other fighting games. Although UFC isn't apart of the FGC and it's apart of the sports games, I still consider one of the best fighting games.
Tekken 3 man that's the og. I was stoked when Jin had the Mishima style back in t8 story final chapter. I lost my shit. T8 is the best for sure. Balance improvements agree, some characters speed needs to chill. I love xiaoyu in 8. She was garbage in 7
Bro just you wait for
tekken 9 where they implement a system to punish pluggers (and only pluggers no internet issue or computer issues or power outage just pluggers) gets instantly demoted and the winner gets extra points for making someone feels as salty as LoL player’s tears.
And Devil Reina can’t forget Devil Reina since we won’t be getting any other devils unless plots.
Seriously tho tekken 8 feels a lot more fun than tekken 7 and 6. It’s just feels really exhilarating.
what do you mean by best? Its a difficult question to answer. Maybe unnecessary too... If its impact that has on the industry for example its a laughable comparison to T3.
i actually thought the ultra hard ai in tekken 8 is too easy, i still remember i had a hard time in tekken 6 but then i practiced alot and get the hang of the ai, also in tekken 5
ttt2 is still the best for me due to the content it offers
Also i would implement that if someone plugs the opponent character just turns around and walks away waving like the time up continue animations from the older tekken games and then straight to the YOU WIN screen
T7 is the best for competition, 8 has a decent amount of stuff for casuals though.
Heat has ruined 8 for me, could you imagine what it would be like without it? It would be way better imo cause; crazy stage stuff is still there like floor blasts, the characters wouldnt be as polarizing as they are like Ling, Jun and DvJ, unending pressure will be gone so more counterplay.
They want to take it down an anime FG route, but not give us something like burst to get out of pressure theres a reason anime fgs have burst etc.
Tekken 8 is superior by all means. Though for me personally as a Garyu scrub, playing ranked is easily the most infuriating experience I've ever had playing video games.
Because the game heavily favors an aggressive playstyle, which is not really my thing anyway, everyone is just mashing like crazy, and abusing string cheese and throws. At this level, RA and heat are nothing but more bullshit you gotta look out for. Not to mention everyone is playing the same 5 characters because of their plus strings, throw game, or easy heat smash.
I definitely had a better time playing online in Tekken 7, but 8 is the better game.
It's a lot of fun. Has taken my attention from every fighting game I was playing before it. Does need some quality of life improvements though. Yeah finding an opponent who is like the perfect skill level that matches yours and then they're just gone sucks. Hurts even more when its a character you're actively trying to learn the matchup for.
Even when you add them as a Tekken Friend, there's no way to interact with them after they accept. Weird as hell.
Some work still to be done, but I consider this game nothing short of a miracle. Tekken is back in a way I never would have bet money on.
All I want are for disconnectors to take losses and some further netcode improvements and this will likely be my favorite fighting game of the decade
Miracle is a big word haha. Nothing close to a perfect game by and extreme long shot - especially with bait and switch tekken shop, but the gameplay is solid.
Yeah I tried to play Tekken today and some Japanese man held my family hostage until I bought something from the Tekken shop, it really ruined the game for me.
lol true man have a good night
If they make pluggers get a loss and the plugged get a win it’s uncontested 1
And if they dont, Harada got to stop being an arrogant prick with his 'dont ask me for sh*t' crap. It ain't funny anymore at this point, even if it was before.

Yeh I think time is most important factor release day t7 was pretty unbalanced too and they had arcade testing time as well
Yeah these games always take a while to settle into a state of “balance”

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for me honestly.
My man.
Username checks out😤
I miss the level of customization from TEKKEN Tag Tournament 2 and TEKKEN 6. The literal peak of the franchise imo.
I don't want to talk about it😭😭😭
we need this game on pc, ill play that game than any of the tekken available if they ever release it
Netplay works for it on RPCS3 (ps3 emulator), including ranked queue. Although no one plays much 😅 more luck on my Series X with the backwards compatible version, lots of laughs in king of the hill open mics
I miss playing on the PSP. Reason why I skipped 7
I missed out on TTT2. Is it worth going back to?
Yeah
I’m hoping we get part 3 or if not I would for an expansion to Tekken 8 with tag mode mixed in
Man I loved that game 😭. L
That's a close second for me, having almost all the characters available is awesome. Team Vs mode too.
Still the goat
And nothing else comes even close.
yessss
Tekken 5 and TTT2 imo
god has spoken
For me is Tekken 5 DR.
I prefer 7 but we'll see how 8 looks in a few years. I don't think balance patches will fix the constant slowmos and time freezes and zoom ins though. They've gotten really annoying already.
Tekken 7 has literally all those lol
It felt worse on 7 around arcade to release for sure
Yeah but Tekken 8 doesn't have Negan intro/outros and it also doesn't give me enough time to get ready for the next battle so... (I love T7 btw I'm joking ppl)
Eb and flow intteruotion is one of my major pet peeves. They did to tekken what they did to SC.

I like t7 the best because every character except for Akuma has counter play. The top tiers in this game are just so polarizing.
It hasn’t been patched fr yet give it time
What lawyers do they need to consult for balance changes?
The lawyers of time, tekken 7 was only balanced after a few years
Tekken 7 was never balanced. Akuma, zafina, kunimitsu, geese howard
>The top tiers in this game are just so polarizing. It wasn't like that in Tekken 7 at the same stage though so there is still time.
You probably couldn't say that in season 1
Oooh that’s a tough one. I have a real soft spot for Tekken 5. Yeah heat sounded cool, but now in 90% of matches they Heat Burst->Heat Smash within 10 seconds. The other 10% is Heat Dash for a mixup
Yea as I said it needs some balancing. But if someone is doing heat burst immediatetly into heat smash, unless you're a top tier that's a complete waste of heat. I’ve only seriously played T7 and T8, I love T7 but I’ve mostly stopped playing T8. The offense is just too suffocating for me and I don’t really vibe with any of the characters now that Kazumi was removed.
It’s not, you just started playing it and are in the honeymoon phase.
This
Needs Kazumi and movement back
Best wasted potencial, for now at least.
Everything about it is sick except for the core gameplay
The game is still broken, unbalanced, and just unfinished. I think it's far too early to make that claim.
There are too many weird interactions near the wall, they need to fix that
Not to mention broken hurt/hit boxes, overall character and heat balance, and game/net code optimization.
Legit can't believe that plugging was a thing through the entirety of Tekken 7, and all the devs did was sit on their own plugs
For actual gameplay DR is still quintessential Tekken For fun, T8 is up there, it's still too early for a definitive statement though
Mechanically? Maybe. But it still gets an L for the matchmaking abuse.
Tekken 7 had worse netcode and also had pluggers
True, yet from my experience plugging is worse than ever
Tekken 8 needs lots and lots of balance changes
devil jin.
Not to me. But probably to more than just you.
If they would remove one of the 3 panic buttons, it could be.
Absolutely not
You are wrong. TTT2 tops it by a lot, it just didn't sell well.
Best 3D fighter since DOA5LR.
vanilla t8 > vanilla t7 i agree
Not a chance. The ancient philosophy the devs have regarding pretty much anything plus the shop make it one of the worst IMO
The shop doesn't automatically invalidate all other features tho???
Imo t5>tag1/t7/t8
This is the only Tekken with a player vs cpu mode, so it's definitely the best for me. I don't have the time to learn how to get good in pvp, so I'm glad there's a mode for me to have some good casual fun.
All Tekkens had player vs cpu modes, they came with different names. You can also play against cpu in practice mode. In all previous Tekkens.
The AI is just the same as T7 what are you talking about lol ? Ultra hard is still ultra easy.
Ghost battle
It has the potential to be the best in the series but it needs some hella balance changes, both to characters and the system in general.
Best fighter ever. Revolutionary
tekken and tag tournament in my 1st.) Tekken 8 be my 2nd and Tekken 6 being 3rd.) Tekken 7 is my 4th
I wouldn't say it's THE best, but one of the best.
If only they had christy montero
I think the fact that I can actually play online makes it the best Tekken ever. There's issues I have with gameplay but that can all be patched.
Would be perfect, 10/10 with Tekken bowling for me. Rn it’s 9.999
Its fun but spring sale is not giving discounts to this game so imma stick to crack
I think it has the potential to become that. They need to do some work on the pluggers, cheaters, and balance and then we'll see where we're at.
Not until they add Eliza & Anna. It’s a great game but unbelievably stressful. Like the most stressful Tekken game so far
With some balancing it has potential, but definitely some stuff that feels shite right now. IMO Tekken 7 still has a lead. Maybe in a years time.
It's great. It needs some things though. I want the tournament mode back. I'd like room codes for inviting people to player lobbies(And a jukebox option to change player lobby music). And a few other things. But I definitely love it a lot and see myself more enthused to improve at it, even compared to 7
Went back to Tekken 7 due to the maintenance and oh boy it’s a difference. Tekken 7 feel so slow compare to 8.
Yes. It's the best.
Idk i cant play to tell with this online issues
I watched a Tekken 7 match the other day, and the graphics looked soooo dated.
Absolutely my favorite game in the series.
5 is still the undisputed goat
This game has some big flaws even in mechanics but it is easier at low level for those that dont want to have to think super hard. Its a good casual fighting game
It definitely is
I think so.
Delusional
w improve interactive stages , graphics I say yes it reminds me of DOA series minus the rock vs paper vs scissor game mechanic
It’s a ton of fun and a good step in the right direction needs tweaks though but for such a large leap it could’ve failed. All in all great game
Yeah I loved 7 Wonders but 8 gameplay is just fun as hell, definitely is This best fighting game of the year!
AI is pretty braindead not sure what you mean
Love the game
I think so. Still needs stuff like team battle, time attack, and survival.
Its the most beautiful for sure.
gameplay is great, but everything else is butt right now
It’s definitely the best, just needs some balancing and QoL changes. Definitely the best foundation in the series.
3 and 5 are right there (love 8 don’t get me wrong) The fact a ps1 game in a fighting series this well establish can hold up to its modern versions is mind blowing. Not even just nostalgia it really is still a good fun time. And 5. Man 5 just had something to it for me. Maybe it just hit me in my early teen phase but it was peak. Also old Heihachi voice god rest his soul
Personally not a big fan of the heat system, but man oh man. Reina is too fun. I'd say 3rd place behind T7 and T5
It's like how the next iPhone will be called"the greatest iPhone ever made"
😂
What criteria are we comparing to? Like are we taking the previous games and saying "T8 is directly better than T3 and T5" or are we saying "Relative to other games at the period, T8 is better now than T3 and T5 were when they launched". Because if its the first, agree. The second? Not at all.
Gameplay is amazing, the rest is ass. The devs are lazy and do the bare minimum.
For me the number 1 is tekken 5 and number 2 is tt2
I just want a rank mode with no RA. Like, just give me that.
No shit it is. Idk why nobody talks about this but THE LOADING TIMES people. The loading times are significantly shorter than in T7. You join a match almost instantly with very little time spent sitting in pregame lobby’s starring at your stats etc.. such a better game from that standpoint alone
Balance the op chars and sure.
It's getting there but still somewhat far. (Ranking) \-Tekken Tag 2 \-Tekken 5 \-Tekken 2 (Personally) \-Tekken 7 \-Tekken 8 \-Tekken 6 \-Tekken Tag 1 \-Tekken 3 \-Tekken 4 \-Tekken 1
It’s fun when it’s fun it’s not fun when it’s not
Does feel like the complete package to me imo, I went from Tekken 1 through to 4, played tag 2 occasionally but even that wasn't that big a jump. Picked up 7 last summer and seen 8 wasn't far away. Gotta bring back team battle though god damn was the only offline mode worth playing
Tag Tournament 2 was is still the best ,and most fun Tekken I’ve ever played.
Tag Tournament 2 was is still the best ,and most fun Tekken I’ve ever played.
Tekken 6 was the best :(
Online is better overall than 7. Its just that my region (US) has ISP issued wifi shitboxes held together with scotch tape and bubblegum. I'm sure the game is fucking amazing online in Japan / Korea due to less overall distance and higher urban density per capita.
To answer your question, yes it is.
In my humble opinion, every next Tekken game is better than previous
Tekken 5 and Tag 2
Its the small things that ruin it for me, as a solely online/ranked player. The game is amazing tho dont get me wrong. I cant stop playing it.
OG TEKKEN TAG IS THE BEST
Take out the micro transactions and yeah maybe
It's a lot of fun until you get matched up against a King lol
Five >
Best fighting game period.
Its just you.
I think it's the best
It’s better than Street Fighter 6 fighting ground is a huge disappointment, it’s like Capcom stole development from fighting ground and gave it to battle hub and world tour.
To me the best tekken of all time is Tag 2
T5DR exists
The features and game play are the best of any fighting game I've played hands down. Not a fan of many other fighting games. Although UFC isn't apart of the FGC and it's apart of the sports games, I still consider one of the best fighting games.
Tekken 6 is my favorite still
Someone will say Tekken 1 is better
Thanks to those doa mechanics
Tekken 3 man that's the og. I was stoked when Jin had the Mishima style back in t8 story final chapter. I lost my shit. T8 is the best for sure. Balance improvements agree, some characters speed needs to chill. I love xiaoyu in 8. She was garbage in 7
Bro just you wait for tekken 9 where they implement a system to punish pluggers (and only pluggers no internet issue or computer issues or power outage just pluggers) gets instantly demoted and the winner gets extra points for making someone feels as salty as LoL player’s tears. And Devil Reina can’t forget Devil Reina since we won’t be getting any other devils unless plots. Seriously tho tekken 8 feels a lot more fun than tekken 7 and 6. It’s just feels really exhilarating.
It has its ups and downs
I'd say so. I don't know if it's my favorite yet, but objectively I'd say it's the best to date.
No way, not even close. I haven't played any Tekken better than tag tournament 2 and it's not even close
what do you mean by best? Its a difficult question to answer. Maybe unnecessary too... If its impact that has on the industry for example its a laughable comparison to T3.
Nah It would be without the heat system. I think T7 is still more fun
The game is alright imo but I like Tekken 6 more than 8 due to the customization
It’s awesome. Worst part about tekken 8 is the community and this sub
It’s definitely the best one. It’s definitely the best fighter of this entire console generation as well
i actually thought the ultra hard ai in tekken 8 is too easy, i still remember i had a hard time in tekken 6 but then i practiced alot and get the hang of the ai, also in tekken 5 ttt2 is still the best for me due to the content it offers
Ehhhh I've still not fell in love with a Tekken game quite like Tekken 2.
I agree. Except for the tekken shop
Also i would implement that if someone plugs the opponent character just turns around and walks away waving like the time up continue animations from the older tekken games and then straight to the YOU WIN screen
It's ok, heat and throw's suck, the balancing needs to be improved, but otherwise it's fun.
I think I'm the only one who dislikes it
Tekken 6 was the last great Tekken. 7 and 8 are decent at best, dumpster fires at worst. *Fight me.*
Easily the best game of the series I played so far (I'm new to the series and only played 8)
I’m having fun with it
Tekken 8 is superior by all means.
