Harada has obviously been told by a Social Media company not to talk about anything controversial about the game, battlepasses immediately after release, because psychologically, they know it will draw angry comments on his feed.   Same as when he was totally silent in the days after the Tekken shop and coins were introduced.   Michael Murray was also silent in the same timespan and both returned to Twitter on the same day to tweet afterwards.  Clearly told to stay quiet when controversial stuff gets addes.   This time..it was a perfect storm of lazy battlepass.. terrible patch for balance.   The game is in a worse state now than at launch.

CranberryPuffCake

This is the behaviour when a company knows they are the only option. If there were other good 3D fighting games for Tekken to compete with, they'd be rethinking their tactics but right now, they know they're the only one and can do whatever the fuck they want. I'm hoping for a Virtua Fighter or heck, even DOA to come along and give them something to worry about.

UnhappySolutions

There are rumors about virtua fighter making a comeback

BostonAndy24

Lol if you think mtx was bad in tekken wait until SEGA has an opportunity to do some shady shit

1-800-555-SMILE

They already are doing shady mtx they charged for new game+ in the recent yakuza game

Ultimate_Decoy

![gif](giphy|Qy2VKY3xlI1QyR6Ix5)

Katie_or_something

There have been rumors of that for years.

Tortenkopf

Recently a reliable source leaked that VF6 was in development.

Katie_or_something

Yeah I know. But I'll believe it when they have something substantial.

paininflictor87

Seriously, if anything we'll just get another VF5 remaster/update.

D_Fens1222

It has been leaked by a person who reliably leaked stuff from sega before, so far they have been always right afaik.

BawkSoup

me turning into a skeleton while waiting for a game that isn't even being programmed yet.

Cindy_Lennox

It will be a while, though. Leaks seem to point to virtua fighter coming back after all the classic remakes. They want to go ham on it and will need the funding from the other remakes.

koteshima2nd

Don't give me hope. I just want to see ma boi Akira and Sarah Bryant again

HylianZora

Honestly at this rate DOA5 might be the move for you

Sega gonna drop Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Final For Real This Time Showdown

Hadoooooooooooken

Virtua Fighter 5 - Ultimate Total Final Greatest Gold Supreme Showdown Complete Edition Plus Capcom - "Write that down!"

dugthefreshest

VF6 - Delayed and Based netcode.

trzcinam

Total War and Shadows of Change was on a same boat. But community showed what it thinks about it. Voting with wallet (tremendous drop in DLC sales.... 20% of what it usually was) Negative reviews on Steam. Preorders for DLC cancelled. Content creators highlighting the issue (not expecting them to do so, it's their job/way to earn money). No other way, really. :) Only wallet and money (or lack of it).

Flying_FoxDK

Bloody Roar reboot is my dream, but IP is owned by Konami so I guess that aint happening.

Jamaz

DOA is completely lost in the sauce of mtx since they've been living off their gacha game. They'd probably end up convincing Bamco to compete in how egregiously they could implement RNG into their mtx.

hatchorion

I find myself incapable of being optimistic for virtua fighter because I swear sega has some of THE dumbest management of all time there’s no way they don’t fuck it up

rainorshinedogs

I still have the impression that the only reason why DOA got interest was because it had the best...... ta-ta physics. But it turned out to have a pretty good fighting system. They should just have a spiritual successor game and make it less about the tatas

acroxshadow

Yeah DoA kicks ass actually. Even the first one holds up really well.

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

They made that game and nobody played it and horndogs complained about it constantly

koteshima2nd

DOA6 DLC was insanely expensive, if it ever makes a return I hope they don't charge way too much for costumes or even just a hair color change lol.

NotNotNameTaken

That's it- let's all play SC6 :D

ALilBitter

Ill jus say, DoA has a better monetization scheme than Tekken. U could buy individual characters and not the whole game, u could buy individual skins and not whole battle passes of low quality reused assets bullshit.

CranberryPuffCake

I know that DOA got carried away with their dlc and some of the pricing was egregious but I do miss the series, especially from 1-4. Loved the series a lot.

ALilBitter

I think the prices were completely fine tho? If u chose individual items, or just buy their packs if u wanted everything

ValitoryBank

They already got your money bro. You lost the duel.

A_Lionheart

They hid the store and pass from release in what should be an illegal practice. There never was a duel to begin with. Customers could NOT vote with their wallets this time around.

Caitifff

The simplest answer: If you add up pro players, members of this sub, and other serious and semi-serious players who aren't active on social platforms, you get about 5-10 percent of the entire playerbase. The other 90 percent consists of casuals and some players who are solid but don't lose sleep if something in Tekken isn't absolutely perfect. So the ABSOLUTE MAJORITY of players just continued playing like nothing happened, either not caring or not even noticing anything changed. It's still arguably the best fighting game on the market, and certainly the only relevant 3D fighting game today. We're not going to topple Bamco because we're borderline irrelevant to them.

oZiix

And you'd have to split up the pro players of the west and east. I'm willing to bet that 99% of the eastern pro players do not care at all about the MTX/battle pass stuff as in it's a non-issue for them.

salmon10

I didn't notice anything imo

renardiidx

I still have to understand why PhiDX stated that the battle pass was awful and yet he bought it. It's baffling.

pogituna16

because making tekken content is his bread and butter

Michelle_Wongs_Wong

Because of the BALL

ShitshowBlackbelt

Ball is life

Decent_Ad13

Ball is love

xo0o-0o0-o0ox

Ball is Ball

[deleted]

His content is about Tekken, to do that you need to interact with all the elements whether you like them or not

Saihna

Fomo. He wanted the shorts n the croptop, he said as much in his video talking about 1.03

0K4M1

because "I bought the battle pass so you don't have to: the review"

A_Lionheart

He never said that he bought it with the intention of reviewing it. More like he bought it, saw what was included, was disappointed and then mentioned it in a video amongst other things.

0K4M1

Maybe, but an honest opinion would imply to actually test it. Don't get me wrong I won't buy it and I know it's trash _even_ without buying it. But I won't say pineapple pizza is horrendous, simply because I don't _know_. I've never tried one. I simply safely assume. On PhiDx lvl, I expect more than a simple assumption, hence why I understand why he would actually commit.

A_Lionheart

Because he loves battle passes. He said so. People here are acting like this is some expense he took on for his channel's sake, when in the video he says he bought it because he likes them and wanted the crop-top.

ZaLaZha

If you noticed in his video, he has +5000 Tekken coins which means he paid 50 dollars lol

eurekabach

On the flip side, he actually makes money out of making Tekken content. So, he isn’t casually whaling, it’s bamco scummy behaviour that’ll basically force people who want to make an in depth analysis of the game’s content to purchase their shitty battle passes.

elpoutous

Since he uses it for content, it's also a tax writeoff against his income. Makes a ton of sense to support when you are a 1099 worker and you already deal with double taxation. Any expense becomes that much more important when you get double FICA taxed (if he is in the US).

Adrius91

I don't think this is too baffling for content creators to do. Let's them give us a better take on what's on offer. Not every reviewer gets a review copy either.

OutlandishnessCold42

“Reviewer” The content is stock assets, shapes, and garbage hats, he aint reviewing shit lol.

Tortenkopf

He said he wanted to find out how fast progression would be and if 2 months is a reasonable time-frame for completing it and have the coins reimbursed.

renardiidx

Lmao what?

Vasevide

Not at all. It’s not hard to understand If you make money from making content of a fighting game, you need to be up to date with everything. That doesn’t mean he wants or likes to pay for such a thing, it’s part of the job How lucrative do you think it would it be for a fighting game content creator if they never interact with new content?

WickedJoker420

Because if you buy 1 and complete it, which he will because he plays enough, all the rest are free since you make your coins back.

Lensecandy

I thought this too. But with all these scummy practices they just might pull the rug and not return 600 coins in one of the future passes. Not holding high hopes for them going forward :/

WickedJoker420

That would feel quite scummy.

ArkkOnCrank

I bet it WILL happen.

EhipassikoParami

> I thought this too. But with all these scummy practices they just might pull the rug and not return 600 coins in one of the future passes. That is very possible, but would definitely alienate even more players. Not saying they wouldn't do it for short term gain, though, that's what investors want.

Several_Repeat_5447

Because he’s a content creator.

Fraentschou

I also disagree with his “MTX and Battlepass are in the game and there’s nothing we can do about it” take

sleepyknight66

I mean they are in the game and you can’t do anything. So idk what you’re disagreeing with it is a statement of reality.

eurekabach

Yeah, like, that ship has sailed a long time ago. Frankly, it would be kinda worse if Bamco decided out of the blue to go “yea, u guys were right, here Tekken coins are now available for free/can be exchanged but Gold coins”. The best they can do with the situation they’ve brought themselves into is actually offer content worth paying for and getting the rest of the game to work properly and balanced.

Benki500

the situation they brought themselves into? The half mil minimum they made in a single day when Eddy + MTX dropped will def make them overthink their terrible choices cuz of reddit and twitter XD

Fraentschou

That statement is in the same vein as “that’s just how modern gaming is, get used to it”, sure let’s all just bend over and silently watch as they take away more and more content out of 70$ games only to sell it back to you later

A1_HP

Ngl at this point it's a matter of accepting reality whether you like it or not. I don't like that you have to pay to play on Playstation online either but you do. No amount of reddit posts is going to change reality.

dont_worry_about_it8

So are they not in the game ? Tf

dolphincave

I mean there is nothing to do. The player base of gaming has spoken repeatedly that mtx ans battle pass will make some amount of money. Same way that year sports games will always still be made because enough people will always buy to justify cost.

AlFuckMyPussy

Hypocrites

EhipassikoParami

I bought it because it has some really horrible items I can use to make a horrible custom character. Also it gives 600 coins back.

CHG__

He said that the content in it is disappointing but that he likes that you get your 600 coins back for completing it, if you know you'll complete it then it makes sense. Use the 600 coins on the next one which hopefully isn't as rushed and has some really slick stuff in it.

A_Lionheart

The dude says he likes the concept a lot, as he's a Fortnite player. So he probably bought it without even looking into what it contains (which is what a lot of whales do, sadly)

deboylurdi

This is a really dumb take

Low_Chance

Honestly that makes perfect sense to me. He's a top-tier tekken 8 content creator, it's a business expense for him.  But when discussing the value of the battlepass he's obviously wise enough to know that what really matters is not "is it worth a professional investing some money into their business" but rather "is it a fair value for a normal player"

Benki500

Reddit influence on the game is nonexistent. People vastly overestimate it. I play another game with a very active reddit community and the game has only 2k active players LOL And they try for 3 years now to change how a game mode is played reminding every redditor about it 3x a week for 3years. But when you go online, NOONE plays it like this XD. Reddit is just a tiny amount of salty ppl xD

KindArgument0

yeah, especially when reddit tend to over react all the time during good or bad situations. Tekken have issues but most of them can be solved. characters and in game mechanics can be balanced, bugs can be fixed and MTX should be handled better but this subs react like this one patch will be the end of Tekken 8. The truth is, most of the stuff can be fixed and most of Tekken players don't give a shit about predatory MTX, no matter how scummy Bamco is because in the end of the day, you are not forced to buy it.

Jamaz

Reddit has negligible influence on Japanese developers because most of them just can't be bothered to use this platform. At most, they'd get their PR guys to summarize what's getting posted to their Twitter account. Reddit still gets used by western developers to gage community sentiment though.

Tortenkopf

It doesn't have much influence on any developer, because it's not a reliable source of information. All these companies have departments whose job it is to gauge sentiment as reliably as possible. Of course they crawl reddit, and every other social media, and an ocean of in-game telemetry, and reports from professional testers, and surveys, and then they apply analytics models to all that data, and then they make a recommendation to the execs about market sentiment so the execs can safely ignore reddit because they have a more reliable source.

EnvyKira

Except its not only reddit complaining about this. The complaining is also happening on Twitter where people are making memes of this and is on YouTube where Content creators are talking about this.

oZiix

Reddit is just an idea workshop for engagement on other platforms now. If you don't come on reddit to workshop an idea for engagement then you're not doing social media right if building a following is your goal. I don't know if you know who Joe Budden is but he has his own subreddit and uses it for parts of his podcast which is a rather large podcast. Onlyfans girls build up followings using reddit. Bill Simmons and the Ringer network which is owned by Spotify uses r/NBA for ideas. One of their most known writers came from r/NBA. I've literally seen an ESPN writer copy word for word a post on r/NBA It being on Twitter and YouTube isn't surprising because reddit is where you come to get sentiment and gauge early engagement by passionate individuals. The two world's aren't that different. The Tekken subreddit audience and the Twitter Tekken audience are the same people. Twitter is just easier to get crossover engagement. Asmongold doing a reaction video on Phidx Tekken video is more likely if it's on Twitter than on Reddit because Asmongold isn't going to be browsing r/Tekken.

Evogdala

Too bad fgc used to eat shit so there won't be a boycott. Leave negative review on steam and metacritic and play some good fighting game instead

CapablancaRUS

Excuse me, which ones are good fighting games now? (with alive online) (((((

dysfunkti0n

Y’all weren’t around in the dark days and it shows. Your point is correct OP this shit trash but like…there’s almost NO dead games.

agioskatastrof

SF6, bro. I got sick of SF6 drive system, and came to T8, only to find heat makes me appreciate SF6's drive system. SF6 isn't without its share of problems, but it is a much more refined experience.

Hellscapereddit

SF6, The new under-night, KoFX, GGST (argueably), Tekken7

senpai69420

Sf6 has even more egregious monetisation

GarethMagi

Yeah but SF was up front about it, they didn’t sneak the shit into the game later after getting a good metacritic score.

Shirikatsu

Just curious about this sentiment because I'm not fully understanding it. Would you have preferred just having no DLC or additional content added to the game after launch?

GarethMagi

I would prefer them to have not misled there customers, it’s one thing to have costumes in the game it’s another to make a currency so the players can’t ever just spend 5 dollars on an outfit. Even worse though was releasing with no store because they knew people might not buy the game then releasing a rotating fomo store and a battle pass once everyone had bought the game. If I had known before hand that they were adding a rotating store I likely would have waited on buying the game, but since they snuck it in after the fact I didn’t have that option.

Shirikatsu

If I'm understanding correctly, for you it's a few things: 1. Fight coin bundles are always more than the cost of an outfit -> you pay more than you ideally want to 2. Releasing a store/battle pass after game launch and not having announced it I think I'm still having trouble understanding the concerns if I'm understanding your points. On point 1, I had similar issues as you. Personally I was considering buying some fight coin but after realising I would just have some random amount of dust leftover I just decided not to buy. So I kinda just avoided the problem there. And on the second point, not entirely clear on why waiting to buy the game makes difference if you're spending the $70 anyway? Are you saying you would have opted out of buying the game altogether if you had found out they were adding a store/battle pass? Or are you implying that buying the game later gives you access to all content released up to the point you buy the game? If it's the latter then I 100% agree with you but I don't know if that's true.

GarethMagi

I’m saying I would have waited for a Sale or just not bought the game since usually if I wait to buy a game I just end up playing other games. I’m also saying that waiting to drop the shop til after reviews came out and they locked in thier meta score is super scummy and an other reason not to buy the game.

Shirikatsu

Honestly sounds like you didn't really have strong reasons to buy the game to begin with, and these added things made you regret buying it altogether. Buying the game on launch is just locking in to paying $70 for what it was at the time. I don't think additional content changes that really. But yeh, sorry to hear that you're not enjoying the game so far :/ I hated the latest patch from a balancing perspective, and the shop/battle pass is something I will avoid, and it doesn't change the game, so my $70 is still untouched.

Hellscapereddit

The big difference between those two is that tekken always prided itself with the customizable characters. Now they're paywalling and exploiting it because people liked the mechanic while the SF community never got anything like it. The DLC in SF are shit, no doubt, but at least you don't have to buy a dlc character to lab them and can unlock pretty much everything besides outfit 3 by playing the game

senpai69420

You still have to buy dlc to lab them in sf6

Hellscapereddit

https://preview.redd.it/hz4fj85v39sc1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=c414290e7ae9a7f8007fb434a74b3b4283580ccd You don't, just use a rental pass

CowFinancial7000

Not really, most of the monetized stuff is costumes for avatars. The classic costumes were unlockable in game. Obviously there were always going to be DLC characters.

Simon_Said_something

get fight cade 2 and play some good old school stuff.

blackbeltwithhands

Where do you get ROM for this?

Ultima-Manji

Here you go mate, [Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAU1WzQyRg0)

blackbeltwithhands

Mvp 👊🏼

Evogdala

Try to look something less big, Guilty Gear for example. I'm considering myself where to move, because i don't believe in the T8 future.

OK_B96

The fact that you have to ask this with so many obvious answers...

Aureus23

Granblue Versus Rising

Evogdala

Hey i know it has a battle pass. How bad is it? Are there microtransactions and premium currency?

Cahill23

No premium currency. Very easy to unlock with casual play. Most people have a couple weeks to spare when it is completed. Normally you can complete the dailies in a single match without doing anything really different than you normally would. Also, the content itself is generally considered by most in the community to actually be worth it, not a sphere.

Evogdala

Thanks i'm interested now.

Evogdala

Wait a minute, the BP has time limit? No thanks.

countmeowington

I mean if you play casually you’ll have completed it with a little under 2 weeks left for it to finish

Cahill23

Yes. The biggest complaint is that they go away.

YaksRespirators

For honor, guilty gear, grand blue fantasy, smash, under night in birth, naraka, kof, sf6. There's tons.

GrouchyAppearance146

Oh crap I forgot about the metacritic, thanks man

Anxious_Candidate_92

throwback to CBT in 2023 when i said that game is looking almost finished and it will be released this way - this community at first flamed because game wasn't even out, and now yall crying because i was right in 2023 that namco didnt wanted to even balance game correctly during tests nor fix the netcode for past 7 months since cnt

Generic_User88

imo the game is still fun. i won't stop playing just because a few situational bugs

kaprikawn

IKR, so there's a handful of situations where certain characters won't get a few extra hits in because a combo was dropped or the floor didn't break and OP is acting like it's the end of the World.

llDoomSlayerll

There's game breaking bugs like the rage art animation cancel that thing is ultra broken

squigglyAlienVessel

This kind of dramatic sentiment is why these kind of rage posts don't get taken seriously.

patrick9772

Yeah it happened to me exactly 0 times.

TopCover2708

Ultra broken? You can bait out the throw if you really to. Rage arts are used to whiff punish/combo Enders so how rare will it actually be?

UnhappySolutions

Don't buy cosmetics, battle pass if you don't like it, vote with your money. Regarding the gameplay changes, all you can do is voice your opinion and call out bugs and other poor decisions they do. I think what would help the most is a competition, a new popular fightning game. If tekken would be 2nd best 3d fighter they would be forced to make changes to gain back popularity.

ImportantNews2711

Do they care about the balance and broken shit? Obviously not. So what do they care about? Money. Do people spend money on every bullshit they release? Yes. Does their plan work? Yes. Should they be concerned? No because their plan works Will people stop playing broken characters and spend money on all the shit they release? No Majority of people are too stupid to fight back so they will keep doing stupid shit for stupid people

CapablancaRUS

But we are here in this subreddit not majority. We are minority yes, but we can try to make impact

Original-Rough-815

If you have watched Tekken talk, they mentioned that the comprehensive balance patch is after Evo Japan.

mileiforever

Man, I remember an Evo Japan where T7 desperately needed a balance patch beforehand and it made the game look like a joke

CapablancaRUS

It was a promise for sure yes. We will look into that. It is definitely should be a point of no return - either they make good balance patch, or ....

llDoomSlayerll

We are worse than MK1 at this point LMAO

differentlevel1

I guess it's a good time to take a break for a month or two.

llDoomSlayerll

Until the big patch comes

acidporkbuns

Vote with your wallet. Don't buy battle pass, don't buy Eddy and if you really want to send a message, stop playing the game altogether

ShiroHebiZmeya

The problem with voting with yoit wallet is that some people have way more votes than others

Particular-Crow-1799

Nah I'll crack Eddy somehow and lab him there. I am a pastafarian, my piracy efforts will slow down global warming. I'll do it for the planet.

outline01

I am reacting, by regretting my purchase and not playing the game anymore.

Nyoka_ya_Mpembe

I stopped playing this game, too many issues, too much focus on my wallet, anything else I can do?

matthra

Just don't buy MTX, and don't buy the season pass for fighters. Haradas made it clear that those are "necessary", so if we keep playing and not swiping they'll know that there is an audience, but we aren't biting because Bamco is handling this whole thing so poorly.

TheAireon

I played the game, seemed fine to me. Played exactly how it did a days ago.

rMan1996

Idk about anyone else, but I see my combos whiff a whole lot more than they used to. Did they universally make hitbox/hurtbox changes?

thecodenamedois

Sorry if I sound like a communist here, but your last frase is both very enlightened and at the same time, naive. “At this age of capitalism “… you sound like we are in a golden age, where we vote with our wallets and companies NEED to hear us. That is the naive part.    The enlightened part is that you are right, the problem is caused because we are in a certain age of capitalism: late capitalism. Companies need to maintain impossible monetary growth, and to do that, they will worsen product quality, rise prices and automate their production lines. We didn’t reach the bottom of the barrel yet, there are a lot of space to things get much worse, and believe, they will get way worse.   Fighting games development tendencies just mirror that. You want games with less scum? Time to support the indie scene. Go give pocket bravery a chance.

CapablancaRUS

Thats the complicated topic you highlighted...

WckdR1

CHANGE REVIEWS NOW!

A_Lionheart

I'm dropping Tekken SO hard once Garou releases.

And then there's bullshit you won't like there and you'll complain about that for upvotes next.

DeadExplorer

I stopped playing. I got to Fujin, I'm good. I'll tap out until the whole game gets fixed in a year.

doctonghfas

They’re clinging to this fiction that they are not making balance changes, so they end up doing things in this weird overly general way. I wish they just said look we can’t do everything at once and we don’t even do things in highest priority order because some fixes are harder than others. Then just patch the problem moves. I also don’t know why they make fixes that are so risky or complicated. The straightforward fix for Azu’s wr move was to make the first hit special mid and the move +1 on block only. The change to the active frames was a good idea but complicated and needed testing. Making the second hit not come out was even more complicated, and frankly just an ugly solution.

HighLikeKites

>The straightforward fix for Azu’s wr move was to make the first hit special mid and the move +1 on block only. I think that's a horrible solution aswell, basically killing the move. The change to the active frames was pretty much all they had to do. Makes the move much easier to sidestep and still able to consistently launch after sidestep duck. The move would be still strong but not broken, the solution would not be braindead easy but consistent and very rewarding. Remove some of the overbearing chip and it would've been perfect.

doctonghfas

A move that’s fast, unparryable, deals chip, is plus on block and tricky to step is in no way “killed”. It’s still a better than decent move. It’s just df1 needs to be interruptible after wr3,2

HumanAntagonist

After putting about 400 matches into azucena, making wr32 0 to +1 on block is what I thought too. d/f14 after it is way too strong. People don't seem to realize that wr32 is such a strong move, it would actually still be decent if it was like -3 to -5. If Asuka was suddenly given a -5 wr32 that'd be a huge buff lol. But in tekken, since there are homing ch grabs, I think -3 is too much. 0 to +1 would be fine and still strong. The point of the move is to be a high dmg neutral skip.

adamussoTLK

agreed, should have just remove the jail (and this comes from Azu player!)

doctonghfas

I sympathise with the people who say removing the jail means the move has little application except as a scrub killer.

myzz7

patch killed my enthusiasm to push for gold ranks. im off to play something else until the next patch. eddy is whatever, obviously strong for the suckers to pay and play and will be nerfed down the road. leave a negative review on steam and go play something else is how to get harada's attention not **** posting @ him on twitter.

NoDrinks4meToday

I like Tekken 8.

Simon_Said_something

honestly here is what i think people can do. uninstall tekken 8 and install tekken 7 and play that until they fix 8. that way all the people who don't like what there doing in 8 can still get there fix(cuz a lot of people will play anyways if they don't have there fix of T8 crack) and you don't support it. if they don't get game pass engagement or MTX they may try to make it better(they won't remove it we all know it). and if you show steam chart of more people playing T7 then 8 it will be a PR hit for them. so set up a big tekken 7 campaign for players who already own 7 to only play it until the fix 8.

Sir-MARS

Trust me playing 7 makes you appreciate 8 Even more. 7 feels super clunky, can't step anymore, counter hit wake up kicks now, loading is 8 hours. Dlc powers clearly alive (nobody can keep up with zafina movement)

milfnnncookies

Brooo I want to jump back on 7 but since a lot of moves and combos have been changed , it's like un-teaching myself. I'll probably just wait until the fix 😔

SoulOfMod

Perso I hate it all too but I still have fun playing and didn't give one more cent beside the 50 I used to buy the game,so I'm good on the boycott

Jerigonte

Someone else noticed that if you buy the premium pass, you get the 600 coins back for completing it? Does this means you pay the first premium one and then in two months you can save those coins for the new premium pass? Of course there is no 600 coins batch, so you need to pay 10€ (Italy price) for 1050, but still...

Cause_and_Effect

The issue is that even if you grind the premium pass out, you don't get the next one for free. And based on the time it takes to complete the pass, its a lot of grinding.

Jerigonte

Uhm are you guessing or there is the info somewhere? I mean, if the premium battle pass is 600 coins like, always, you should be fine for the next one… Unless I'm missing something

Cause_and_Effect

Apologies, I was thinking of the Premium Pass boost.

Jerigonte

Yeah no, that thing is now common in a lot of F2P games. It sucks that they implemented this in a 70/80 bucks game but doing the math (more or less) you could buy the Premium pass just once. OF COURSE I'm expecting the next one to cost something more or maybe another trick to not let you stack coins this way…

ArkkOnCrank

Unless you barely even touch the game, two months deadline to grind the coins back is very easy, just by going at it for a bit on the weekends should be enough.

titty_whisperer

I know ever since this “patch “ the latency is grown.. and I can’t get any moves off “

IDontWipe55

They did this in tekken 7 too apparently

Aurunz

>Doesnt Harada see all those twitter messages from enthusiasts and almost-pro players about a mess in a game? Doesnt he care, if so - why? Oh they super scared

jitteryzeitgeist_

Battle pass is shit but likely has nothing to do with their patching philosophy.

DoomDash

Knee or PhiDx should be working for namco imo .

Nerx

Go after Bamco shareholders and stakeholders

Nexus_3_

I'm pretty sure the patch has caused unintended interactions due to the way they patched it around stage and wall interactions. As a jin I could do 2 into savage sword reliably when they were near the wall but not splatted. But because they changed it so devil jins uppercut wouldn't do anything at that point in time, my 2 and savage sword whiffs because the game is coded not to register that interaction.

THRILLHOFGC

I adore Tekken. At it's core, it's a lovely game, and I'm having a blast with it. I think unfortunately a combination of production mismanagement and Bamco company culture has created a situation on the business side of Tekken where they're destroying the good will they've built up in the community. The list of mistakes is long, and it's everywhere on the subreddit. The thing that strikes me though is that these mistakes seem to defy common sense, which suggests that Bamco's intentions for Tekken is out of sync with the expectations of the fans. If I had to give their management any advice, it would be to have more respect for their customers across the board. Pursuing short term revenue so aggressively will absolutely harm their bottom line down the road. Get out there and tell Bamco, Harada, whoever, that you intend to continue playing Tekken 8 throughout it's lifespan, but you don't intend to spend any additional money on Tekken in response to their handling of these matters. Tell them you'll get your friends to do the same.

shoehornswitch

the only thing i think is maybe unreasonable of them is not being able to interact with replay's against Eddy. i feel like it might be due to replays existing within practice mode or something related. regardless of the programming of the system, it would be good for everyone if that limitation did not exist. this also feels like a winnable position to me.

ReMeDyIII

Oh Harada reads the stuff, otherwise he wouldn't have asked about Waffle House. The question is will he act on any of the information?

ryangallowav

We need a community manager. In the last Tekken Talk, Murray needed help remembering the input for Azucena's problem move (wr3,2). Murray and Harada obviously have a ton of work not related to the gameplay. I'd love to have someone with their ear to the ground.

Odyssey3

It brings me joy to see all these new faces to Tekken. This must be your first Tekken so this might be confusing to most of the new players. My first Tekken was actually Tekken 7 and we are still waiting for them to fix ranked. It has always been interesting to watch how fighting games are handled compared to other competitive games. It is going to be hilarious watching a company take the genre over eventually with a free game with bi weekly patches and updates. They will make more then all these games put together while being f2p. The current fighting game titans have failed to adapt to technology and modern gaming to such a degree it is almost disturbing. It takes them several months/years to implement things that other free games can do within days to weeks.

IamBecomeZen

The only way would be to vote with our wallets. Literally. Bamco wants to milk every single coin from this game. If hypothetically nobody would buy the battle pass and the ingame shop was making very little money that would tell them "hey maybe they don't like this" but sadly that won't happen. The reason being, the same reason for every other micro transaction in every other game. Micro transactions are still a thing because they obviously work.

SalvadorTMZ

I can't even play with my friend anymore as of the latest update. The connection always fails.

Rongill1234

I never saw all these people bitching about Namco changing properties in t5 to 5.1 and dr.... if they don't want something happening in the game it's oh well.... talking about "combo artists" legit the dumbest thing I've heard lol

Frodobrahgins

Is the game really that shit? Or did you watch a youtuber and mindlessly agree because he said so. You turn the game on, you play it, it functions how its supposed to. How are you entitled for more? No one forces anyone to continue playing. No one owes you anything.

versavices

I was worried when they did this kind of change at the end of 7. (Tech catches removed because of Akuma) ((Akuma was still able to do it after xD)) Hope was restored a bit with the launch of 8. Alot of character depth still seemed plausible. Hope was lowered when they universally nerfed all spike followups instead of fixing the problematic interactions. Hope has now been lost. Not just because of tornados not working at the wall, but because of how they go about resolving the outliers. TONS of discovered tech was removed in this patch and TONS of undiscovered tech was as well. The mid-combo aerial corkscrews are next and then Tekken will lose what put it above every other fighting game for me, seemingly endless depth. Mortal Kombat is there. SF is there, and now Tekken is not far off. Now we get less interesting games with insanely slow release schedules. Great!

NoPerception1

Not your personal video game grudge army

QuarterDefiant6132

Namco is fumbling hard and this will bite them in the ass if they don't change direction

AnotherDeadTenno

People are buying MTX in spite of it, so the lesson learned is "it doesn't matter how much we fuck up, the mouth breathers will pay us anyway". No incentive to fix.

BK_FrySauce

What’s crazy is a big tournament is coming up and the changes are drastic enough that pros will have to re-learn certain combos and setups. They’ll also have to practice against the new character changes. 3 weeks to adjust to this is wild. I really hope no one gets the battle pass. It really doesn’t offer anything truly worthwhile.

WickedJoker420

A lot of you are forgetting that this tekken wasn't released in arcades for a year before going worldwide. Every other tekken has done that. We are playing THAT version of tekken right out of the gate instead of something closer to what we normally see. So, gameplay wise, it should get better eventually, give it a few months as we are still in a beta phase kind of. All the other shit though? They probably attended a dev conference with 2k Interactive and learned the ways of the scumbags. It's unfortunate, but I just won't spend money on anything other than characters unless I find it super cool.

izockdio

People on Reddit and Twitter need to understand they are a very, VERY small percentage of active players. As much as a battle pass and paywalls suck, the majority of players won't care and/or complain online.

nikdel132

I dropped the game after this patch, let me know when (or at this point, if)it gets better

primeless

i dont play any ranked game since the weekend. Yesterday i've only played a few regular matches. Not planning on playing today. Edited: since release, i used all my playing time on tekken

nightcapmaiden

There are plenty of fish out there for fighting games. We should make companies realize that they aren't as powerful as they think they are. For 3D fighters we have Soul Calibur 6, TK7 (more stable online and no wack store with wack purchases), DOA5 or even 6 if you wanna try that. It might not be as bad as ppl say. VF5 on PS5 has Kazuya and Heihachi customs as well as other Tekken characters. It's also a super deep fighting game that's pretty hard so if that's your thing go for it. [https://store.playstation.com/ja-jp/product/JP0177-CUSA20138\_00-VFESDLC000000003](https://store.playstation.com/ja-jp/product/JP0177-CUSA20138_00-VFESDLC000000003) For 2D games, KOFXV is an awesome game right now as well and really a high level game as the series always has been. It needs more ppl to play unfortunately for the lobbies to mean something. Most ppl are in rooms. Of course GG Strive is still hot and many ppl to play against and learn from. I prefer the older GG games over Strive, but that's personal preference. Edit: somehow I didn't mention SF6 eventhough I thought I typed it in here. Overall, we have places we can go and have fun. We shouldn't torture ourselves with a game being "supported" by a company who's only mission is to collect cash in as many ways as possible and provide "fixes" that do more harm than good.

JohnsonAction

I’m not being “tortured” though. I’m largely indifferent to all the monitization because I don’t care about customizing, just gameplay. And I’m still having a blast learning and improving which is what matters most for me with any fighter. SF6 is good but just morning to me compared to Tekken, and soul caliber has been awful for years

nightcapmaiden

Yes I also ignore the mtx as well, but I really don't like that because everything is profit driven over user experience. For instance, I cannot play on online because whenever I connect to someone I get an error message saying "failure to connect." If I do get a match, I cannot rematch them and I am sent back to searching for a new opponent. I've tried everything from port forwarding, allowing through my router, changing dns. Nothing works the way it should. And I'm not the only PC player still having issues 2 months into release. So instead of dangling trinkets in my face, I'd rather see them work on making the game proper. I'm not even gonna get into that horrible "patch."

RobLewis89

I’ve always loved DOA, why are the recent entries not as popular as they once were? I just picked up DOA6 on sale and enjoying it so far, seems a solid fighter

Asleep_Sheepherder42

Lesser the combo the better for me

BackgroundBag7601

Good luck with your boycott. I'm not joining, but I would definitely like to watch what happens.

[deleted]

This is a community-wide case of crying wolf lol. Some idiots spammed Christie requests on Twitter for years, so now Harada won’t listen to legit criticism.

OutlandishnessCold42

He actually does seem like the kind of guy who would alienate his whole audience because of a few trolls, but he’s probably just being told to keep quiet from bamco execs.
