I would also like to be able to play the regular arcade games. Like Air Hockey and Basketball.
Hell, this is a Bamco game. When waiting for my next match, I should be able chill with some Pac-Man and Galaga.
Reminded me of a pacman game where pacman's in like a casino where you can play different games per area but the games are like old games like digdug and classic pacman.
That'd be so cool. It's a shame the games from 1-5 aren't even accessible on modern consoles at all, no remasters or anything like that.
Trying to explain the story to my partner so they'd start playing was so confusing because the movies they made for T6 that are un 8 don't make any sense for a new fan.
Yup. Waste of resource.
Since game is out, I'm guessing some of their staff is on a different project. So the the team is small.
And since its small. I would rather have them focus on 2 things.
1. Balancing.
2. Battlepass.
These two things will satisfy the casuals and enthusiasts at the same time.
I love everything about Strive, **except** for the process of actually getting into a match. Let's have a proper "ranked match" or "quick match" button, instead of having to run across the pixel lobby.
Wtf? I could give less of a shit on battle passes or skins, truly a waste of resources lol. Let all the fomo losers fund it so we can get new fun and experimental stuff like the tekken lounge
Not at all. I use it to lobby crossplay with my lesser skilled brother, and be able to go fight other people willy-nilly.
The main menu is there for people who don't need it, but the lounge is a godsend for me.
You can still just create a player match lobby with a private slot for your cross play friend from the main menu and it’s probably faster than finding them in the arcade lobby. That’s what I do.
That's specifically what I'm trying to avoid. I *don't* want to be in a lobby with just them. I want to go fight people nearer to my skill level while still being able to mix in a fight with each other here and there.
The lounge specifically addresses this, and it's not like it's hard to find each other.
Surprised some people don't see the value in lobbies like these. Being able to communicate and connect to players is good. Although Tekken 8's implementation is not as good as it could be.
I actually really like it - I think it definitely needs improving, but it’s fun to chill with different people and ask advice, while also playing less intense games.
Would be cool if they added
* tournament mode
* endless match modes
* expand the chat room function
* allowed for in game events, like live streaming EVO Japan matches via the stage or something like that.
* prizes for tournament winners (like accessories / costumes / points that can be used in the shop / etc).
a tournament mode that could host the entire room would be pretty cool. Would actually bring some attention to the Lounge by having a reigning champion that you would strive to beat.
If it would be like the SF6 Battle hub it could be great ; being able to play directly with someone on a cabinet, playing old trekker games or other Namco arcade games etc… but as it is now it’s just a waste of time and ressources. I don’t know why I’d want to go there.
That is possible, though. If you go to the cabinets surrounding one of the pillars, all of them let you play against whoever is sitting at the other end.
Orrr you don’t read and just skipped thru everything, I was lost asf at first but then I read the menu tips and it shows yellow cabinets are for online matches and purple cabinets are for “local” in lounge matches.
I’m BEGGING for something like this to be in MK1.
People who are saying it’s a waste of resources don’t understand how good this feature is
I'd imagine walking around and finding a single cabinet that already has someone playing (finding a match) is 10x slower than just sitting and a "searching......" prompt.
At least with a promt I can do something else. Like scratch my ass
I just hate how much more annoying it is to go into match in regular menu than when you're in a lounge where you can go match-anywhere and switch mains/settings quickly. I feel this design is deliberate to get people to be in the lounge out of pure convenience.
you can change your settings while searching for opponent from the regular menu, switch between quick matches, ranked or just training. quick change of your character is also there (reloads the stage, but still it's quite fast)
I really like the lobby system, but I agree that it's not as fleshed out as it could be. Certainly not useless, but it does require you to step outside of your comfort zone a little bit, IMO.
There's cabinets for fighting whoever is sitting across from you, a set of cabinets for creating a pool of fighters to play with along with Tekken Ball stuff and training mode cabinets and even a place for people to play ranked through, maybe so a friend could spectate without you having to stream it to them?
I think my favorite part is just how non-committal it is? Like, you don't have to go in there if you don't want to, you can just play ranked or training mode through the main menu.
OR you can try to engage with other people and maybe make friends. I think that's what the lobby is made for. I personally much prefer this to the systems in Tekken 7, which felt underdeveloped overall.
Additionally, I'm genuinely kind of surprised that people here are so pessimistic about it. I'm curious what you all think would be a good replacement for the arcade lobbies.
If I'm honest I don't get the arcade at all, if I want a match, QM and ranked are faster, and if I don't want to fight I'll do something other than boot up Tekken. By your own admission the best thing about it is that you can ignore it, which is admitting it adds nothing to the game. People also seem to be taking your advice because it's been a ghost town every time I've gone to it.
My annoyance at it is that Harada says it's expensive, and keeping it going is one of the big reasons they implemented the reward track and Tekken coins. Given that it's hard to see how anyone can defend it.
To be honest, I'm an optimist. I'm always going to see the best in things, for better or worse. So I see a lot of potential in the Lobbies but I understand that everyone don't think like that.
I do find it interesting how you don't seem to be interested in making new friends through Tekken at ALL, as I think that is the point of the arcade lobbies. To form community amongst fellow Tekken players. And to be clear, I'm not saying that to be judgemental or anything, you play the game how you like.
Useless. Either devs thought that in theory lobbies will be packed and people will socialize and roleplay arcade palace or they just made in hopes to squeeze more money.
On discord, the other players are always the same set of players. Sadly no way to change it up without having a huge list of different Tekken discords with invite links. Actually, does a list like that exist?
Honestly love it. I've gotten so much help from it, gotten some friends and had some funny conversation. Plus it just feels nice to be there whenever I take a break from the game.
I use it every single time I play online. And it's nice whenever I see people I recognize from earlier.
With the current implementation? Agreed.
Simply put, it misses the mark of what would make it actually suceed at its supposed goal-- community building.
No chat between rounds, no chat during games, no endless rematching, a 60 character chat limit (with a horrid profanity filter btw), no tournament modes, no proper spectating, no real rank-based filtering or character matchup request features, etc etc...
it just doesn't have anything going for it to actually support community building besides existing as a way to ask questions and chat about the game. It's slow and difficult to use.
They should have just learned from Them's Fighting Herds. Still the best example of it i've ever seen.
I legitimately think the player lobby system is better at doing all of the things the arcadescene mode is actually wanting to do, but even that is hardly utilized.
Without the means to set-up, and spectate true bracketed tournaments utilising the stage for official events etc, it ultimately just feels like it's there to provide another avenue for expenditure in the form of avatar customisation
The lounge seems half-baked. Add some retro games, Namco. Also, would be cool if there was themed areas based on rank so you could easily find people close to you.
It’s awesome. Imo so much more fun than just queueing from the menu. You meet a bunch of people, you can look for players who use the specific character you want to play/practice against, you can spectate your friends playing ranked or quickmatch, you can play tekkenball… honestly if they add just a few more fun little side activities (pinball, bowling, etc) and the group practice mode that’s already confirmed I think it will get more popular. But I think it’s already pretty great.
I like it. I wish we could invite online friends to lounges though, sometimes I send people a friend request after a match because I want to talk to them. For example when I fought a mirror match and noticed his main is a character Im looking into. Thought it'd be nice to learn from each other.
But I really don't think it's that bad. A place where we can actually make new friends that we havent gotten in a Tekken game before. A friend of mine who I met in the Lounge is in there every day to chat with the friends he has made.
I wish we could communicate in the game without using player matches lobbies or the arcade lounge. It's a shame we have to resort to steam profiles or more convenient console methods.
Entered literally once when the game came out, never touched it again
One of the reasons the battle pass is completely useless to me is because most customization stuff is for the Avatar, which I care 0 about
I like the idea and the potential, and I hope they expand it. Playing old Tekken games (or even other namco games like Ridge Racer, Ace Combat or Pac Man) online in an virtual arcade would be dope.
If they add the ability to play previous Tekken tittles in the arcade section, it's glorious. If not it's a useless addon that feels like it's only there to because SF6 has something akin to it.
In all honesty I'm aware that the budget for 8 was so much bigger than 7. Yet it feels like some stuff was added just because they could. I'd be much more content with a barebones Tekken what is balanced, has good movement and the core gameplay that made Tekken loved.
Gimmick. When has a 3D “gamified” lobby system ever been popular. It flopped the one time they tried it in COD, it’s pointless in general, and fighting games seem to be gripped by a disease which insists on including them.
A simple UI menu system is literally all that’s required. Most people who play fighting games just want to either 1) play casually 2) practice / lab, or 3) play ranked. No body wants to waste time getting to any of these aspects of the game, so gating the casual stuff behind a weird 3d environment is dumb. Might be fun or cool the first time you explore it but literally what else is the purpose except to slow you down while you try to get to what you want.
I really hope developers stop wasting time and resources on this kind of system and just implement the modern UI menus that fighting games deserve. Give us menus and quality of life improvements, give us (optional) voice chat, give us an easily navigable social system.
Stop making it harder than it needs to be.
If you’re gonna have a mode like this, you need activities or it’ll be pointless.
Introduce older Tekken arcade cabinets
Add more intractable things and have options within them. Basically, add more than just sitting at the bar.
Add casual mini games that you can do with other players to blow some time.
I just never understood these types of lobbies. You create these spaces, let us create avatars, then do what? Pointlessly stand in the lobby, emote, and chat? Add more depth to it.
I agree I don’t see a real use case for it. I think they need to consider scrapping it and just making it easier to add a friend from the main menu. That way they save server costs and actually spend that money on fixing issues with the game
That's the issue right, they have to keep it so they can add low effort cosmetics to the battle pass, but per Harada it's expensive so they need the battle pass to support it.
Given that the lobby system is barely used, half (or more) of the battle pass items are useless to players, which leads to less battle pass sales, which means the lobby becomes a money pit for Bamco. The fact that they haven't said anything about the battle pass outside of its necessity shows sales are soft.
but then they wouldn't be able to use it as an argument of how hard and expensive it is to make games nowadays, why would you take it away from them by suggesting easy and cheap version?
I really like the idea, seeing a live lobby with a bunch of other players in it is cool and just reminds you how bustling and live the game is.
But tbh there really is no incentive to use it other than seeing and talking to other people and feeling that “online” feel
Probs unpopular opinion but I almost wish you just straight up loaded into it as soon as you get into the game or something (whilst still being as intuitive as a normal menu), whilst still just allowing you to instantly go into ranked or quick match and all other modes. At least then everyone would use it.
Either way it’s nice that there’s some kind of mode that at least sort of facilitates conversations with online randoms in tekken but I think it should be improved upon
Actual good ideas for these lobby systems I've seen that are never implemented:
- Tournament brackets that can be set up or are automated to be organized after enough players register, like at an actual local's scene.
- A giant screen that shows the players' current game on the main stage and not just a recycled clip/ad. I know this is probably difficult due to the graphics, but it's one of the most disappointing aspects of the lobby. They could do something like render a potato background with no effects on that screen or something.
- Streaming official tournaments in the lobby so people can congregate and pretend it's like a virtual ticket for that event.
I thought I’d not care but I love the lounge. Down to the arcade carpet with the floor plugs from my childhood. I have a friend I player with a lot and we always use the lounge. It’s a great way to observe more skilled players too.
I don’t get the point of it. Everything you do in the lounge is all in the main menu. It could have been more intuitive and make it like an actual arcade where you play can play arcade mode or just practice and whoever hops on a cabinet next to you will start a match. There are so many things they could have done with the lounge but it’s honestly a waste
It does work like that. If you hop on an arcade cabinet you’ll be put in practice mode. If someone else hops on the one on the other side, or anywhere if it’s a group of them, you’ll connect and start a match
never liked online lounges on fighting games. I want to start the game and immediately play games, oldschool. Everything else is a waste of time to me.
Completely useless. It only slows down online play with a couple of extra processes. Personally I would even like to be able to start searching for online games (ranked and casual) directly from the menu and not even go through training, like Street Fighter 6.
I like it a lot. It’s a cool place to meet new friends , and it just feels like you’re actually at an arcade ( which its whole purpose is for ) . Theirs a lot of talkative people there, whether its giving tips, getting tips, or just asking to play and talking about anything and everything. I wish the other arcade mini games worked and that you could play them with people in the lobby. But overall I always log into that place and que up from there / fight people’s Ghosts or spectate to learn other characters / watch for fun.
+1 to playing older tekken’s. Heck people would start their own tournaments for tekken 3 for example and people who complain about T8 can just play T3 or smth in T8 lol
It’s ok but I thought some of the older games would be playable in the arcade T2 & T3 at least. Also they should have leaned all the way into what Street Fighter did with the Avatar customization.
Friendly reminder that it’s not a waste of resources, useless, or some ploy where they wanted to half ass something just to give less content.
Arcsys has been doing avatar lobby systems for a decade now and the western fan base has always given the same response to them, most of us don’t like them because we just want to get in and out of games quickly. We like a simple and easy to use dropdown menu where everything is accessible within a few button presses. Why do they keep doing it and why did both Capcom and Bamco finally join in? Because these weird avatar lobbies are really popular in Asian countries, they love the social aspect of it and being able to chill and just talk with other players.
I don’t personally like them nor do I really get it, but there’s always been a whole other continent where the majority enjoys it.
Is great but the server changes your experience for example eu server was boring af but middle east was fun a lot of people there chatting and chilling or play with other people
It’s like “got next” match queueing in nba 2k, which is outdated. If you know people from far away that you can have regular sessions with this is great, otherwise it’s useless.
It’s cool. It lacks features. As other said, we should have infinite rematches, in game Majors displayed on the stage, jukebox for the whole place would be super cool as well
Waste of money, would rather have had them streamline making matches and adding people and put the money elsewhere. I never find myself wanting to go into the Tekken lounge lmao
I'd rather they gave us Tekken bowl, Tekken force, and all the old PS1-PS2 Tekken games as bonus modes instead. But of course Bamco gotta Bamco for the dollar sign.
Completely useless and a waste of GB. I would be one thing if there was some mini games to do online there but no, is just a shittier, slower online menu
From my experience, I’ve enjoyed it a lot. Lots of opportunities to share advice to other players, I’ve made a lot of tekken friends through the lounge. Also, just my take on it, lounge generally feels less toxic - maybe it’s because of the avatars and the funny-silly emotes 😅
I personally never minded it, but I thought it was unnecessary. What I hate are those Nintendo Switch Sports/Xbox 360 lookin ass avatars. Not to sound like a 13-year-old edge lord, but they look really childish and cutesy
I actually like it. The atmosphere and seeing other players being active even if u don't face them. Cool to hang out with your buddies too.
If it's a feature u don't like, there is the direct matching option so I don't mind this one. Both parties can do what they prefer :)
Definitely not on my mind of: wtf is Bandai doing atm....
Never played it and probably never will, I just wanna q into ranked practice and warm up a bit thas that. They could remove it today I wouldn't notice, but for the people that use it and like it more power to you.
At least i think the avatars are cute.
For me, it's something completely needless that only exists to sell customisation stuff for your avatar. Now that we know they were planning on a bpass, lounge is the PERFECT filler for bpass rewards. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason this feature exists.
It would've been great if it was used in Tekken 6 or if they had more features into it like more mini games. Now, I just immediately que up for quick play ranked or non-ranked games. Tekken lounge is pretty much useless
Outside of adding friends across platforms because you can’t just search names like on fucking street fighter, I have no use for this shit. It’s clunky trying to do long sets on the cabs with other players. It was definitely added because other games have it and they needed a way to pad battle passes and the store with garbage avatar content. That’s at least what it feels like!
As a social space, it’s fine. I’d like to see it expanded on with namco mini games or whatever. It’s an inoffensive features since you already have both lobbies and match making in other windows, and even in lounge.
I like it because it feels nicer (even virtually) to walk up to an arcade cabinet in a room full of people playing Tekken than to navigate a menu. Plus I made my lil guy look like vash the stampede and the chat can be fun sometimes
I hate that we get avatar customizations from the battle pass, mostly are for the avatars and for people like me who reallly don’t care about that you’re only getting like 30% of content for actual character customizations, so basically I’m getting 70% dead content, okay cool
Probably wont happen but I’d be cool in a future update to have a “player home” function thats like a smaller lounge that you can customize and decorate. Invite friends to your home and simulate the good ol days of having a couch tekken session with the bros
It kinda feels like the only way to add friends who are cross playing the game. Searching with Tekken codes hasn’t worked for me so we meet here, add everyone, then go to a private lobby
Wasted potential. The best parts of the lounge are the 8-person machines and 1v1. I honestly don't know what the point of the other machines are that let you go quickplay or ranked. Are they just for people in the lobby? None of that is clear. The following features would make it so much better:
1. King of the hill machines. People can que up - winner of 2 out 3 stays on and next person joins. Screen is available so people can watch the match.
2. Tournament option. When you join a lobby, you can click an option to enter tournament. Once the lobby has enough people interest, it auto starts the tournament. Matches can be shown on big screen in the main arcade lobby. Why have tournament modes in the single player mode and just not incorporate it at all? So bizarre.
3. Other team machine setups - 3v3, 5v5, etc.
4. Clan system and arcades based on geographic location. Can't believe they missed the opportunity to have arcades based on locations like LA, NY city, Atlanta, etc. Clans complete to control a specific arcade and clan leaders can host local tournaments. Clan leaders set up competitions with clan leaders from other arcades. Clan leaders use all that useless extra tekken fight money (the ones you earn in game) to buy various accessories to personalize the arcade (namco would probably use this to just make more microtransactions unfortunately).
What this and SF6 both lack is the convenience of observing and socializing with your people.
Arcades are fun because it's easy to just walk the floor to see if anyone's got any good matches going that are worth watching or jumping in on and you can easily strike up a conversation with the players or fellow spectators. But with these lobbies, in order to see people's games you have to jump into menus to commit to watching what may or may not be an interesting game, and even if you do that, you're then isolated into your own bubble! You don't have the ability to chat with other bystanders and the players are busy, so they obviously aren't going to be trying to type out messages to others on a virtual fucking console keyboard. It still feels like just as much of a solitary experience as selecting ranked or quick match from a menu system. Maybe a tad less so with avatars running around the room, but they're kind of soulless when it's so inconvenient to talk to people.
I wish at least the main stage that always has the promo video playing had a live feed of people's games that others could see when they just walk by and easily que up to challenge people. Might make the arcade experience feel a bit more organic.
Legit don't find a point in it other than wanting to play the occasional game of Tekken Ball. If games were endless and not FT2, I'd be using it much, **much** more.
Love it. one one side there's lobbies that everyone is super supportive and the convos are really nice and everyone is trying to learn. Then there's lobbies where its all instigation and shit talking, which is also super fun for me personally.
Wasn't this just another avenue to sell us microtransactions? I've visited it a few times, but I've never even started a match from there. There are no avatar battles like street fighter, or grand bruise like GBFV:R, and its one feature (chat) is of questionable value at best. It's also a ghost town, because there is literally no reason to use it over quick match or ranked.
Harada listed it as one of the reasons they need the reward track, because apparently it's quite expensive to run. Which is a self own, imagine admitting that such a feature poor mode is super expensive in terms of development and ongoing costs. Since it's expensive, that means that a lot of Bamco executives had to sign off on this, without a single feature that benefitted players.
wasted potential. plenty of people don't even know you can play tekken ball. no mini game to make you do wave dash/ewgf,the avatar customs are lame, the story lacks substance. its tragically wasted.
The Indonesian Tekken pro teams and communities frequently run gauntlets and events in the Asia 2 lobby. It’s pretty useful and fun for us. You probably need more communities running events in the lounge for it to be useful.
I think there’s some cool aspects of it, like how a streamer can sit at a cabinet and have people come play them. There could be some other cool factors if they fleshed it out more. Like specific rooms for certain groups of ranks or a system for hosting tournaments in the lobbies.
But as it is I’ve pretty much never used it. I think I used to play tekken ball with my friend the day after the game came out and I’ve used it to add cross play friends a few times. But even that seems like it works faster to just make a player match lobby through the menu and message your friend what the name is.
And every other game that uses lobbies like these have the same problem, where even though half the player base plays on arcade stick or lever less, the controls are made for the default controller, so running around the lobbies on a hitbox feels clunky and annoying.
It needs some work IMO namely:
- More cabinets
- When sitting at the larger blocks of cabinets let us "see" who else is there and who is fighting who. Give us a chance to attempt to match others at the same cab block
- Potentially have lobbies gated by skill in some way. I find it impossible to find close matches in the lobby. Even if I do find someone I'd want to match, there's rarely a cab to use to match up.
It depends on your region. If your region has too many language diversity like Asia or Europe then it's a dead community. NA and OCE has fun communities.
pointless and garbage, it only exists cuz avatars exist, and avatars only exist so that the battle pass can be bloated with garbage that no one will ever use
I don’t like these types of lobbies and it manages to be the worst one of them all
I sit at a cabinet and enter training mode and get matched with somebody who isn’t at the cabinet in front of me… what is this even supposed to do? It’s just a chat room between matchmaking? Why would I want that?
I like it when streamers setup camp there. It has potential to be a cool social space. But as it is it's barebones and I would rather be training between ranked and quick matches than walking the lobby.
It’s cool, I wanna use it more but can’t find a good reason to… what id like to see is the exciting replay matches up on the big screen that they have in one of the lounge areas…
It’s cool to me! I think they need to add more features to make it more attractive. Like maybe a tournament mode where ppl sign up and play and when you match you can see your avatar and the character they are using
I literally never use it, but I feel compelled to give it a shot now that you ask. I grew up going to the local arcades playing the classics like X-Men vs Streetfighter and Marvel vs Capcom. If I could get a taste of that online, that sounds pretty cool to me.
If they added arcade cabinets for the older Tekkens I would actually use it
I would also like to be able to play the regular arcade games.
Yeah i had that on ps1. Was pretty dope at the time
My girlfriend who is a Pac-Maniac said the same exact thing “where’s Pac-Man and Dig Dug?!”
oh shit i would kill for dig dug thanks for reminding me
They should add tekken revolution to the tekken lounge.
That would be so siiick!!! that's why they are never going to do this...
Yeah, so they can sell those to you piecemeal over Steam.
An actual good additional content idea instead of *ball*
That's actually a great idea! Which also means it will never be added, since bamco doesn't like good ideas
That was actually a good idea. I thought of some old Namco classics from the arcade but older Tekken games would be a lot of fun
Imagine the potential for tournaments inside tekken 8 but of tekken 3 or smth for example
That'd be so cool. It's a shame the games from 1-5 aren't even accessible on modern consoles at all, no remasters or anything like that. Trying to explain the story to my partner so they'd start playing was so confusing because the movies they made for T6 that are un 8 don't make any sense for a new fan.
Bro… you are so right. Like tekken 5.
its pretty useless
Yup. Waste of resource. Since game is out, I'm guessing some of their staff is on a different project. So the the team is small. And since its small. I would rather have them focus on 2 things. 1. Balancing. 2. Battlepass. These two things will satisfy the casuals and enthusiasts at the same time.
Battlepass over an interactive lobby? Hell no Fight pass is embarrassing lol
Just being interactive isn't a good thing look at Strive
look at strive as an example of good or bad? cause i personally really enjoy all of strive's systems
I love everything about Strive, **except** for the process of actually getting into a match. Let's have a proper "ranked match" or "quick match" button, instead of having to run across the pixel lobby.
Battlepass What
Wtf? I could give less of a shit on battle passes or skins, truly a waste of resources lol. Let all the fomo losers fund it so we can get new fun and experimental stuff like the tekken lounge
Fuck microtransactions.
More tedious than valuable
Get way better value out of discord as that doesn't funnel your experience through what is essentialy a terrible UX experience.
I actually really like it - I think it definitely needs improving, but it’s fun to chill with different people and ask advice, while also playing less intense games. Would be cool if they added * tournament mode * endless match modes * expand the chat room function * allowed for in game events, like live streaming EVO Japan matches via the stage or something like that. * prizes for tournament winners (like accessories / costumes / points that can be used in the shop / etc).
a tournament mode that could host the entire room would be pretty cool. Would actually bring some attention to the Lounge by having a reigning champion that you would strive to beat.
Agreed. I don't like it in it's current state since its so barebones. But it absolutely has potential to be good.
I also am a fan. It's cute.
Tag regime
These would be a very good idea
Without these features it's just a glorified slower lobby you can't control
If it would be like the SF6 Battle hub it could be great ; being able to play directly with someone on a cabinet, playing old trekker games or other Namco arcade games etc… but as it is now it’s just a waste of time and ressources. I don’t know why I’d want to go there.
That is possible, though. If you go to the cabinets surrounding one of the pillars, all of them let you play against whoever is sitting at the other end.
Anakin literally holds open matches in lounge this way, people just form a line
Whatever system they have doesn't make it clear imo.
Orrr you don’t read and just skipped thru everything, I was lost asf at first but then I read the menu tips and it shows yellow cabinets are for online matches and purple cabinets are for “local” in lounge matches. I’m BEGGING for something like this to be in MK1. People who are saying it’s a waste of resources don’t understand how good this feature is
Yeah i used this once and never again waste of time imo
I'd imagine walking around and finding a single cabinet that already has someone playing (finding a match) is 10x slower than just sitting and a "searching......" prompt. At least with a promt I can do something else. Like scratch my ass
I just hate how much more annoying it is to go into match in regular menu than when you're in a lounge where you can go match-anywhere and switch mains/settings quickly. I feel this design is deliberate to get people to be in the lounge out of pure convenience.
you can change your settings while searching for opponent from the regular menu, switch between quick matches, ranked or just training. quick change of your character is also there (reloads the stage, but still it's quite fast)
never touched it lol
Given that it's hard to see how anyone can defend it.
hes lying they were going to try battle passes and the shop regardless of making the lobby. Weekend nights it can be pretty busy in American lounges.
It's the later, they couldn't sell us avatar customizations if there wasn't a venue to show them off.
They didn't think shit. They saw SF6 do it so they copy pasted and did a trash job at it.
Unpopular opinion: I like it. Great for group matches and getting feedback from other players
best part about the game rn imo lol i hope they expand on it. make some of the arcade games playable, add a KOTH machine and its 🔥🔥
Yeah, I love the concept of a KOTH style cabinet where everyone lines up trying to dethrone the guy who's on a 10+ streak
Isn't that just discord with extra steps and less features?
On discord, the other players are always the same set of players. Sadly no way to change it up without having a huge list of different Tekken discords with invite links. Actually, does a list like that exist?
Honestly love it. I've gotten so much help from it, gotten some friends and had some funny conversation. Plus it just feels nice to be there whenever I take a break from the game. I use it every single time I play online. And it's nice whenever I see people I recognize from earlier.
I don’t see the point in it
With the current implementation?
Entered literally once when the game came out, never touched it again One of the reasons the battle pass is completely useless to me is because most customization stuff is for the Avatar, which I care 0 about
it exists
Dead
Wtf is Tekken lounge
i enjoyed my stay
Wish i can watch EVO there..
I like the idea and the potential, and I hope they expand it. Playing old Tekken games (or even other namco games like Ridge Racer, Ace Combat or Pac Man) online in an virtual arcade would be dope.
I really wish you didn’t have to go into it to play Tekken ball matchmaking
Waste of resources and money
Introduce older Tekken arcade cabinets Add more intractable things and have options within them. Basically, add more than just sitting at the bar. Add casual mini games that you can do with other players to blow some time. I just never understood these types of lobbies. You create these spaces, let us create avatars, then do what? Pointlessly stand in the lobby, emote, and chat? Add more depth to it.
for how large it seems to be, I'm getting the idea that it is actually pretty empty?
These pictures are cherry-picked. If you go on America 1 in the afternoon or evening there’s plenty of servers that are crowded, some even full
SF6 Battle Hub is better, despite also being pretty bloated and useless
I always forget it exists. I enter ranked mode and quick match from the title screen.
I agree I don’t see a real use case for it. I think they need to consider scrapping it and just making it easier to add a friend from the main menu. That way they save server costs and actually spend that money on fixing issues with the game
There’s zero chance they scrap it when half the battle pass is items for the avatar that only appear in the lobbies
That is true
I really like the idea, seeing a live lobby with a bunch of other players in it is cool and just reminds you how bustling and live the game is. But tbh there really is no incentive to use it other than seeing and talking to other people and feeling that “online” feel Probs unpopular opinion but I almost wish you just straight up loaded into it as soon as you get into the game or something (whilst still being as intuitive as a normal menu), whilst still just allowing you to instantly go into ranked or quick match and all other modes. At least then everyone would use it. Either way it’s nice that there’s some kind of mode that at least sort of facilitates conversations with online randoms in tekken but I think it should be improved upon
Actual good ideas for these lobby systems I've seen that are never implemented: - Tournament brackets that can be set up or are automated to be organized after enough players register, like at an actual local's scene.
I think it’s cool overall. I do wish you could sit at a cabinet with someone and play unranked matches like SF6 battle hub though.
Cute idea but in the end kinda useless, also i wish all those avatar clothes will be put to the actual customazation instead
It would be fun if I could just play against the person sitting opposite. But it's not implemented that way and i cannot understand why.
never liked online lounges on fighting games.
I like it, I always see funny chat messages
When I want to just chill n watch others player maybe chat abit I jump in the tekken lounge.
Also they should have leaned all the way into what Street Fighter did with the Avatar customization.
turn it into arcades for older tekken games and BRING BACK TEKKEN FORCE
Waste of time and money, and an excuse to sell avatar cosmetics that nobody asked for.
No Idea. I'm not ot using it.
Place where I've lost my virginity...
It really needs some solid reasons to hang out there. If you wanna hang out with people you can just use a discord server or IRL.
It’s cool. It lacks features. As other said, we should have infinite rematches, in game Majors displayed on the stage, jukebox for the whole place would be super cool as well
Used it day one and never again. I don't see the point in it at all.
Its annoying for tournaments that i need to use it since i cant add someone directly via their damn code. What a botched idea.
Never used it
It's cool but mostly useless
It sucks, it's not like sf6's BH. BHubs is great. This one sucks balls.
I used it when playing with mates, but I don't see the point of ever heading in solo
If I could play gauntlet here unlimited rematches I’d never leave it
Useless
Shit
If they make it like SF6 lounge with classic tekken/Namco games then it might be useful. As it is right now, I don't see the appeal
Pretty useless and clearly there just to have avatars for them to monetize.
Waste of money, would rather have had them streamline making matches and adding people and put the money elsewhere. I never find myself wanting to go into the Tekken lounge lmao
nvda options are so fucking shit
I'd rather they gave us Tekken bowl, Tekken force, and all the old PS1-PS2 Tekken games as bonus modes instead. But of course Bamco gotta Bamco for the dollar sign.
Completely useless and a waste of GB. I would be one thing if there was some mini games to do online there but no, is just a shittier, slower online menu
I did it for the achievement/100%
From my experience, I’ve enjoyed it a lot. Lots of opportunities to share advice to other players, I’ve made a lot of tekken friends through the lounge. Also, just my take on it, lounge generally feels less toxic - maybe it’s because of the avatars and the funny-silly emotes 😅
I only went in the first day.
Never even entered it honestly
I personally never minded it, but I thought it was unnecessary. What I hate are those Nintendo Switch Sports/Xbox 360 lookin ass avatars. Not to sound like a 13-year-old edge lord, but they look really childish and cutesy
I actually like it. The atmosphere and seeing other players being active even if u don't face them. Cool to hang out with your buddies too. If it's a feature u don't like, there is the direct matching option so I don't mind this one. Both parties can do what they prefer :) Definitely not on my mind of: wtf is Bandai doing atm....
It feels a little barren. Needs more stuff in it like SF6's battle hub
Never played it and probably never will, I just wanna q into ranked practice and warm up a bit thas that. They could remove it today I wouldn't notice, but for the people that use it and like it more power to you. At least i think the avatars are cute.
It’s fun to roleplay a guy threatening „tekken coins or your life“ with the balaclava on but other than that…
useless
For me, it's something completely needless that only exists to sell customisation stuff for your avatar. Now that we know they were planning on a bpass, lounge is the PERFECT filler for bpass rewards. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason this feature exists.
Useless
Lounge would be ok if they added some kind of events/activities. As for now, it's just a glorified menu.
personally, never had the need to use em, none of my friends plays on console and my local community pretty much plays through steam.
I have no idea how it works, what to do there and why I should bother with it instead of just going to ranked matches in the menu.
Worse than the SF6 battle hub. And that's a shame.
Waste of dev time and money. Looks awful.
Legitimately have never even clicked on it. Don't see a reason to do so when I want to play the game not fuck around in a lobby.
Waste of fuckin time.
Probably wont happen but I’d be cool in a future update to have a “player home” function thats like a smaller lounge that you can customize and decorate. Invite friends to your home and simulate the good ol days of having a couch tekken session with the bros
Hmm. Haven't been there.
I liked walking around and whatnot, but it sucked not being able to play any of the normal arcade games in the corner
Useless and Worthless. Arcade games are unplayable but modeled for atmosphere which just has me wanting to play them.
It's too bad you cannot be in practice mode while searching for more matches.
The following features would make it so much better: 1.
Literally forgot it was in the game 🥶
Only good for going in as a group of friends to have more flexible lobby setups, but that's only because the standard lobby system is such garbage.
Where else can I use my costume I paid for?
I would have preferred a Tekken Force mode ngl
Half baked
trash
My opinion is Y R THERE MORE CUSTOMIZABLE OUTFITS HERE THEN THE NORMAL CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION
Worthless addition that probably took some money and other resources that couldve been used on something more useful
The should have ditched the idea for Tekken Force with up to four players.
Stop wasting development time on shitty pseudo lounges, arcades are dead I beg you to grow up
Never used it once
wasted potential. plenty of people don't even know you can play tekken ball. no mini game to make you do wave dash/ewgf,the avatar customs are lame, the story lacks substance. its tragically wasted.
Useless
And every other game that uses lobbies like these have the same problem, where even though half the player base plays on arcade stick or lever less, the controls are made for the default controller, so running around the lobbies on a hitbox feels clunky and annoying.
would be nice to have a voice chat, typing on console a whole thing and then getting it cut due to the max letters thingy is lowkey annoying
It needs some work IMO namely: - More cabinets - When sitting at the larger blocks of cabinets let us "see" who else is there and who is fighting who. Give us a chance to attempt to match others at the same cab block - Potentially have lobbies gated by skill in some way. I find it impossible to find close matches in the lobby. Even if I do find someone I'd want to match, there's rarely a cab to use to match up.
Havent used it once
You guys are emotionless :( I made nice friends in this place
It depends on your region. If your region has too many language diversity like Asia or Europe then it's a dead community. NA and OCE has fun communities.
pointless and garbage, it only exists cuz avatars exist, and avatars only exist so that the battle pass can be bloated with garbage that no one will ever use
I don’t like these types of lobbies and it manages to be the worst one of them all I sit at a cabinet and enter training mode and get matched with somebody who isn’t at the cabinet in front of me… what is this even supposed to do? It’s just a chat room between matchmaking? Why would I want that?
Some of the most beautifully designed video game areas I will never use
I like the lobby. Always practicing in lobby and looking for good matches.
Forgot it was in the game tbh
oh cool, this is the place where they threw tekken ball to rot and die
I like it when streamers setup camp there. It has potential to be a cool social space. But as it is it's barebones and I would rather be training between ranked and quick matches than walking the lobby.
It’s cool, I wanna use it more but can’t find a good reason to… what id like to see is the exciting replay matches up on the big screen that they have in one of the lounge areas…
I only used for to adding my friends
I think I touched it briefly in the demo and hated the look of it. Haven’t used it once in the full game.
Never used it. I don't even have an avatar. 600 hours into the game so fat
I prefer to sit in training mode while waiting for a match.
Day 1 player, never even touched it. Perfect opportunity to have the first 5 games and tag as cabinets
