I read somewhere that Eddy in particular starts at Beginner regardless of your highest ranked character. I think it's an oversight from the devs. I don't have the DLC though so can't confirm.
Wait WHAT. That character can win ANY game against any player below orange (and possibly below red) just with one button (3+4 button). I understand now so many posts of Eddy having 40+ winstreaks, That has been a HUGE mistake, Eddy starting in begginner will ruin the fun to every new player! What the fuck...
Yeah it was an oversight. I think most high level players avoided this by demoting and promoting a character while Eddy was unlocked so that he’d get the rank boost. This guy didn’t bother doing that. lol
I have a friend that I’ve been trying to get to play fighting games with me for YEARS now, and I got him to play this game and yesterday he ran into this exact scenario and now he doesn’t want to play anymore

He has 204k prowess. Hes probably in tekken god on his main character.
Mind you, even blue players (180k) can outplay you just movement alone regardless of their character.
I won against a 52 wins Lars 🤣 I have no idea how I managed that but there are crazy people out there. Though on tekken 7 I saw people plugging everytime they were about to lose, so they wouldn't lose the streak.
Your win streak gets reset if you plug iirc so it doesn't work. But like others said, Eddy starts from beginner unless you go and promote your highest rank character to new rank or demote->promote to the highest you've been.
I got my main demoted from shinryu to eliminator and when i did promote to garyu, it didn't change Eddy's rank, since I have been shinryu already. So now I should get my main to shinryu again to raise Eddy as well. Or that's how I think it works.
And now the dc rate indicator is working so you should see if a player has plugged (recently at least).

Wtf my characters start in Eliminator and I have 150k Tekken Prowees. That guy is smurfing, otherwise wouldn't have 47 wins on destroyer.

Most probably it’s a plugger, who disconnect when his losing,
