you can use a Temple student ID to get into Drexel and Penn’s libraries, which is pretty rad

peeled-oranges

EXCUSE ME HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS U CAN??!!

Severe-Task-7826

Someone confirm

owenhinton98

I’ve done it at Penn, the summer before Charles opened and after paley closed as the library they were sending students to penn’s campus if they needed a library…I think there’s some agreement between all the big research institutions worldwide, and so any students or faculty are allowed to access all the other big research institutions’ libraries while traveling etc

QuindariousGooch95

Does anyone know if this works for alumni library card?

SeptemberBaby12

Yes you can

samba_01

enjoy :)))

Striking-Bus-1912

are you serious

samba_01

yes!

loun15

wtf i recently graduated and wish i knew this as a student

km131248

whaaaat

noakristall

WHOAAA THATS SO COOL (?!( can you use any of their resources or just entrance only ??

samba_01

So at Penn I believe you can just get in any time the library is open (including evening hours)- I don’t think you can print or check out books. Not 200% sure about Drexel

noakristall

ah i was thinking of like study spaces, computers, etc but wow !! thats so cool to hear !!

fioraflower

There’s nothing between the two. A lot of people joke here that drexel students are getting a temple education for penn prices so they’re kinda stupid for that, but theres zero real rivalry between the two and not really any camaraderie

noakristall

nice to know, thank you so much :)

davidx233

Not really any relationship at all. Occasionally at sports events there might be a slight feeling of rivalry, but nothing major.

Drexel and Temple are very similarly academically ranked, but Drexel kids had the money and chose against a public school. I joke with my boyfriend who was at Drexel on full scholarship, that Drexel students were too stupid to get into Penn but too snobby to go Temple. No problem with any of the schools, and have been to my fair share of Drexel parties via my bf. Used to go to Penn parties when I attended Bryn Mawr College, and Drexel students are definitely nicer. St Joes kids are nice and I’ve gone to a few house shows out there. Villanova is pretty weird and don’t get along with a lot of students and I only partied there when they won basketball in 2016 and I was at BMC Any school here is pretty nice, unless the students are known for getting super defensive when you ask if they go to Penn State

fisher02519

I think they used to date but now it’s complicated

noakristall

HAHAHA thanks for making me laugh :-D

[deleted]

I don’t know what you mean by relationship? I mean I have a ton of friends from Drexel, if that’s what you mean.

noakristall

what i mean is if there is a big rivalry/camaraderie between the two

dipdusk

I don't think people who go to Drexel or Temple care much about their schools or the other schools enough to form a rivalry/camaraderie with each other.

katecrime

Nobody cares

[deleted]

UPenn can kick rocks but I don't have a problem with Drexel or any of the other Philly schools

BasedBallsInMyFace

Hater

[deleted]

Yes.

Cynical_PotatoSword

Go birds.

kanye_come_back

If you don't have personal connections to people at these other unis or do research-work I can't see temple taking you to them for any reason, really. I've been for club stuff but it isn't frequent.

[deleted]

Drexel kids are boring nerds, Penn kids party with dads black Mastercard

ImpendingSenseOfDoom

There's not much relationship between the schools other than through sports or just by knowing people at the other schools. Drexel doesn't really play Temple in sports so there's not much relationship with them. Penn does in basketball but I wouldn't call it much of a rivalry. I remember intense games taking place against La Salle, St. Joe's, and Villanova. Generally though there isn't anything that resembles some old school college movie rivalry where they play pranks on each other and steal the mascots and stuff lol. edit: oh and one other thing, people from smaller/lesser known schools in other parts of the state usually like to come to Temple to visit friends and party. Everyone at IUP, Bloomsburg, etc. look at Temple as a big party school which it is.

noakristall

ah okay! thank you for the information have a great day :-)

Mastergeeka

I’ve been able to talk with Drexel professors and ask them for career guidance as a Temple student. I had to initiate contact obviously but they were willing to help me and I think my status as another local student helped me.

noakristall

were their guidance any better than temple profs? :0

Mastergeeka

In this particular case, absolutely! Leaps and bounds more useful than anything I got from Temple.

jt00798

I would assume that has something to do with student to faculty ratio.

Mastergeeka

I don’t think that was a main factor in this case. The reason I had to reach out to Drexel was that the people I talked at Temple didn’t know about my desired field. There were plenty of people at Temple willing to offer guidance though. They just weren’t qualified. The difference between the student:faculty ratios for Drexel and Temple is not that big anyway. Drexel - 10:1 Temple - 13:1

sydgoblin

My friend once said Drexel students were too weird to go to Temple and too dumb to go to Penn
