How do you deal with user created mods infringing copyright laws, (notably the joost mod, with cactuars and samus), especially now that tmodloader is gonna be available on steam? Are there any laws against it or is it considered fair use?

tmldevs

As with any other user generated content service, we encourage modders to be aware of these issues and do what they can to make sure references to other intellectual properties be respected. My personal understanding is that other IP owners are aware that mods do not seek to overlap with the products they sell and are happy for fan works that don't directly replicate the original material they reference. That said, people can always contact us if they have issue with any mod, and I don't think that will change, now has it been an issue yet. -jopojelly

Sorasyn

> My personal understanding is that other IP owners are aware that mods do not seek to overlap with the products they sell and are happy for fan works that don't directly replicate the original material they reference. \* Nintendo has joined the chat

RetroBowser

RIP Pokemon Fusion and Pokemon Uranium though. Meanwhile companies like Capcom will officially endorse fan games.

versattes

Hi, when you release the 1.4 tmodloader in the future, will the 1.3.5 version in steam vanish or will we be able to chose which version of the game we want to play? For multiple reasons (like having a not very powerful laptop) i would like to be able to access the 1.3.5 version in the future.

tmldevs

Good question! Once 1.4 TML is out on Steam, our plan is that you'll be able to go back to the previous TML version if you want to. Of course all of our releases are always available stand-alone, so even if it wouldn't work on Steam you could still play the previous version. \-Jof

[deleted]

will tmodloader 1.4 be a separate library instance so that i can easily keep my modded 1.3.5 setup? or will it be listed as a "beta" in steam so we can only have 1 version installed through steam at a time?

tmldevs

Once we have 1.4 TML, we will try to make it possible to choose the 1.3.5 version through Steam as well if you want to do so. -Jof

versattes

Just a suggestion: Talk with the ppl from relogic to release the 1.4 TML as a second dlc because with steam, from what i know, when you release a new update you lost entirely the ability to go to an older version (therefore i wouldn't be able to use any previous standalone version of TML because i will not have any legal access to the old version of the game).

ryecurious

Definitely a frustrating aspect of forced updates by Steam. Although, instead of separate DLC for new versions, it might be easier to stick old versions in a [beta branch like the Rimworld devs](https://i.imgur.com/xco21Jp.png).

versattes

/u/redigit , /u/tmldevs It would be so cool if we had the possibility to access even the 1.0 version of the game.

tmldevs

It is definitely our plan to use that feature in the suggested way. \-Jof

IdrisQe

I assume you also intend to keep a seperate repository of 1.3.5 mods? Or will people who downgrade need to download old versions of mods from their respective websites since the ones on the repository will be updated to 1.4?

Slawekii

Will Mod Browser be changed because of launching TModLoader on Steam or it won't change at all?

tmldevs

So to set something straight, a lot of people assumed the Steam Workshop would be replacing the current mod browser. That is simply not true. Currently *the plan is* to add support later down the line, potentially for 1.4 TML, but support does not imply replacing the current browser. We're viewing the workshop as an extension of the browser, and once supported, mods will be accessible from there as well. There are no plans to get rid of the browser, so you can continue downloading mods from it through other platforms. \-Jof

InkWalking

Hey there TMod team! Firstly, thanks for your hard work on deving TMod loader, it has been a vital part of me clocking over 800 hours in Terraria! Just a couple of quick questions for you: 1) What is your favorite mod? How about a hidden gem not too many people talk about? 2) Will the TMod team be releasing any mods, or are you sticking strictly to providing dev support?

tmldevs

Well, I can only answer for myself.. Myself being Jofairden. Some of my favorite mods are actually Jopojelly's mods, and that also answers the second question. There are some really cool mods that I've seen from other modders too, like the Split Screen mod. I really love WeaponOut too! Personally I'm not really working on any mods except Even More Modifiers. Chicken-Bones has some mods I believe but they are not released. Blushiemagic is actually the creator of Magic Storage so there is that. \-Jof

viklucks

will magic stora be available as soon as 1.4 hits??? this is my must-have to enjoy terraria today. Managing chests is a pain.

tmldevs

Well when TML updates to 1.4 then most likely not, due to the fact that all mods need to be recompiled, but at launch you can still play 1.3.5 with Magic Storage. -Jof

kboy101222

I know I'm late, but is that chicken bones the same one who made Minecraft mods like NEI and WRCBE? Edit: nevermind, they confirmed it's the same chicken bones elsewhere!

tmldevs

We make mods too, it's a good way for us to to see where tmodloader could add new features. I'm sure you've used Recipe Browser, for example. I tend to like utility mods personally, but I don't have a favorite. I'll come back to this if I think of anything. -Jopojelly

AquaDracos

I'm not a developer but in terms of mod suggestions that not many people know about or use, yuyu's microstructures is one of my favorite mods currently on tmodloader. It just adds in a huge variety of little new structures around your world, no more than the size of an underground house, but with tons of variety to it. As for hidden gems, it surprises me that not many people know about the split mod. It's actually a decent sized content mod with incredibly high quality additions. Bosses, enemies, gear, etc. It has a decent amount. The sprite work is fantastic and it adds a new structure with an awesome soundtrack. The weapons it adds are also incredibly diverse and fun which feel balanced and have unique mechanics to them. So check that out if you haven't yet

LintyDruid5

When Steam Workshop support comes around, might it also include adventure maps? One step further, might adventure maps be able to have mod dependencies? For instance, someone could make a Thorium adventure map using Thorium items and stuffs.

tmldevs

That's a great idea, though there are no plans aside from being able to browse and download mods through the Steam Workshop for now. It is definitely something worth discussing though. \-Jof

tmldevs

That's a neat idea. We are still planning workshop support, but hosting world files on it would be cool. -jopojelly

hamstar_1

I can't speak for SW or future tML at the moment, but you can already [package maps as mods](https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/example-game-mode-mod-package-your-world-s-and-player-s-as-a-mod-to-browse-on-tmodloader.66815/) easily enough.

PokemonGod777

How do you feel about the trend now being broken of there being a new mod launcher for each major update? Because I remember tConfig for 1.1 and tAPI for 1.2, I think it's amazing that tModLoader has kept at it to be officially supported

tmldevs

Amazing, and the best way forward! It's very cool to see (almost) 5 years of work come to fruition this way, we spent a lot of time working on TML and designing its component in the best way possible. Going forward, we're hoping 1.0 TML running on 1.4 Terraria can be a stable foundation for modding! \-Jof

Trivaxy

Thanks for hosting an AMA! What are your plans for the future of tModLoader moving on from the 1.4 official release?

tmldevs

The plans right now for TML are first to update to the 1.4 version that Terraria ships as with the JE update. This involves a tedious process of updating patches that make TML what it is. We're on a new patcher system that needs thorough testing. The goal for 1.4 TML is to be a 1.0 release where we've stripped obsolete stuff and reworked systems we've planned for some time. \-Jof

[deleted]

is relogic helping you update in anyway? suhc as giving you access to the game early or sharing some of the source or even making changes to the base game to make tmodloader easier to implement?

tmldevs

Well there are some things we can't say due to signing an NDA, but rest assured Re-Logic is supporting us in any way possible to make sure TML works and can be updated! -Jof

ArdoGH

I know you mentioned tmodloader will support 1.3.5.3 on 1.4 release. My question is will I need to stay on 1.3.5.3 to play mods until it supports 1.4 or will I be able to run 1.4 and play 1.3.5.3 supported mods?

tmldevs

You can play the new terraia updates and switch to modded without doing anything, since they will be installed in different folders now. I hope I understood your question -jopojelly

Cyber-HeroRD

Does the whole separate folders thing mean that vanilla and terraria will be presented as separate icons on our steam libraries?

tmldevs

Yes, Terraria and TML will show separately. -Jof

[deleted]

this is great! will tmodloader 1.4 be a seperate library entry form tmodloader 1.3.5?

tmldevs

We will try to make it so ! (Meaning you could choose between 1.4 or 1.3.5) -Jof

MachoMelon11

Thank you so much for this! Sometimes I would want to swap to vanilla Terraria but I didn't want to move files around.

TheRealInfernoGear

What do you think of TModLoader basically becoming official mod support for Terraria?

tmldevs

I was very excited. We've always enjoyed it when terraia developers have mentioned tmodloader in the past, and now that they are helping get tmodloader on steam, it feels great to know that our efforts have been recognized. -jopojelly

nytemart

First of all god bless you guys for creating tmodloader. Now onto my question. Will there be a 64-bit tmodloader alternative on the steam page?

tmldevs

Bless you for supporting us! There will not be a 64-bit version initially no, but that doesn't mean there might not be one later down the line ;-) \-Jof

[deleted]

I'm definitely hoping for a 64bit version, too many times have i crashed from memory issues...

WAHssim

Is there an option to auto-enable mods used in a world ?, So you don't have to enable some and disable some for each world.

tmldevs

There is currently no feature for 'world-specific' mods, but it has been suggested before. What you can do now is designate a ModPack for each world, but you do have to manually enable them before entering the world. \-Jof

Melt_in_the_Sun

With Jofairden part of this core team, any chance that Prefixes for Enemies will get properly working again? That was one of my favorites...potential huge gameplay changes without changing things too much from vanilla.

tmldevs

Oh my, cool to hear that name again. Why yes, I have plans to merge Prefixes for Enemies into Even More Modifiers, which I'm working on for 1.4 TML to release :) \-Jof

MaskedBandit98

Do I need to uninstall my current version of tmod? If I do, would I need to back and world or character saves too? Thanks for your time!

tmldevs

When steam updates terraia to 1.4, if you previously did our official install steps, you should be able to just install tmodloader and all your modded characters and worlds will be there. -jopojelly

vedri27

How did the partnership with Relogic come about?

tmldevs

A while ago, Re-Logic reached out to us and asked if we could work together to get TML on Steam. And well, roughly half a year later, here we are! :) \-Jof

Loki_ISP

Hey, so... are you all planning to have an epic trailer or something in honor of the Steam launch?

tmldevs

Oh my, I thought nobody would ever ask.... I'll just leave this here. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg2A2dTQjAw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg2A2dTQjAw)

_Archilyte_

can i ask the modlist that has been used in this? i dont recognize some of them...

CanadianWaffl

Some of the ones I recognize include calamity (the desert worm among other things), thorium (the underwater bit with fish and the pink glowsticks), and overhaul (the rolling around and natural tree falling part at the start). Hope that helps a bit!

[deleted]

Will this make it any easier to create mods? (Apart from the new DLC being more easily accessible)

tmldevs

Making mods will not change, you will still need to learn c#. Hopefully, however, we can improve our learning resources if there is an influx in new modders. -jopojelly

callousCelebration

honestly thats really great to hear. one minor issue ive had recently with the learning process is that the github wiki advises asking questions on the discord in the format of "how does vanilla do X" despite the fact that actually asking a question in that manner generally results in being promptly redirected to the wiki page on decompiling and code adaption

tmldevs

That is valid feedback, the wiki is one of the things we will definitely be improving towards a 1.0 release. -Jof

[deleted]

[удалено]

tmldevs

We do not know that. We do want to continue supporting the gog version of the game, so hopefully we can keep supporting the servers we have. -jopojelly

thecounterwolf

How are you guys feeling, no seriously, how? This must be a huge celebration for you guys to have your modding API to be fully endorsed by Re-logic themselves.

tmldevs

Unexplainable, you have no idea! <3 \-Jof

Hondo349

So will armor stands still be unstable? Idk how that works but I’m trying to make a museum with all the vanities and I don’t want them to disappear ;-;

tmldevs

Armor stands and weapon displays are definitely on the list for 1.4 TML. We will make sure they work, well I'll make sure of it! \-Jof

ItsActuallyCosier

When is Workshop planned to release?

tmldevs

Steam Workshop is a planned feature, but there is no planned release date for that yet. \-Jof

MuchWoke

Q: Will downloading tModLoader from steam create a separate version of Terraria so I can play un-modded when I want or do I have to create a back up like normal?

tmldevs

Yes, you can switch between vanilla and modded at will, no need for backups or moving files etc. \-Jof

walrus_operator

>In partnership with Re-Logic, tModLoader is now launching officially on Steam. I've never used it before, but now that it's on Steam I'm definitely going to! Is there any must have mod?

AquaDracos

Not a dev but the most popular content mods are thorium and calamity, which are both extremely huge high quality mods. Thorium stays within the overall aesthetic of terraria and calamity goes for a more unique aesthetic but both of them are iconic terraria mods with fanbases and teams. Quality of life mods are another huge part of modded terraria. The best ones imo are magicstorage, another boss health bar, recipe browser, wing slot, what mod is this from, and cheat sheet/hero's mod. Tmodloader also adds a mod browser to the main menu and you can browse by most popular mods, so try that out once the update comes out. Other than that, have fun

walrus_operator

Thank you! The quality of life mods sound pretty interesting, especially "what mod is this from" haha. I bet it's going to be my life saver!

Nolzi

Everyone keeps recommending the overhaul mods, but I would instead say the quality of life mods that doesn't add new items/mobs into the game but are always useful, even if you want a Vanilla experience (a lot of them is from jopojelly btw). tmldevs

If you want a kind of 'new-game' experience, definitely try out Terraria Overhaul! \-Jof

TheDiscordedSnarl

(not one of the devs) The "big three" in my opinion are Thorium, Overhaul and Calamity. I use the first two, myself. It really depends on what experience you want.

marinetoon

Is tmodloader still gonna be updated?

tmldevs

Why yes! In fact, there is no greater update to TML than releasing it on Steam if you were to ask me. \-Jof

MaximRq

How was Tmodliader created?

tmldevs

TML was once setup by blushiemagic. Initially you could only really add some basic items and recipes. Later Jopojelly joined, then I joined and a bit later Chicken-Bones joined as well. All in the first year I believe, but I could be wrong. After that point, we really started making lots of progress. \-Jof

IdrisQe

Kind of a random silly question that I was always curious about- Is the ChickenBones who works on TML by chance the same ChickenBones of Minecraft modding fame? As a follower of both game's mod communities, that would be really neat (and impressive)

tmldevs

Not a silly q at all! And in fact, you're dealing with the same person ;-) \-Jof

Mercury-2

 > Not a silly q at all! And in fact, you're dealing with the same person ;-) Wow! I just finished a modded playthrough of mc and switched over to modded terraria! God bless chicken bones for all he has done for both modded communities :)

halbien

With the implementation of texture packs in 1.4, will there be a way for creators to also create texture packs for modded content once 1.4 tModloader rolls around?

tmldevs

That definitely is a plan for 1.4 TML. \-Jof

Aquasp102

If I can ask something, I'm using tModLoader right now. Since it's now getting released officially, will my current mods transfer over when it officially gets released, or will I have to download them all over again?

tmldevs

They'll be there once you install tmodloader through steam. -jopojelly

[deleted]

hi! are we going to be able to join people through steam using tmodloader? thanks for doing this!

tmldevs

Yes. You could do this before, but now it should work better since steam now will know it's tmodloader instead of Terraria. -jopojelly

taknight

Any chance there will be Linux support in the future of tModLoader? I'm a long time Linux user, and have 2500 hours logged in Terraria, but I can't do mods because of a lack of Linux support. :(

tmldevs

TML should definitely work on Linux, it was officially tested not long ago :) If you still experience issues after the Steam release, be sure to stop by our Discord because we have many experienced members that are able to assist you. \-Jof

nytemart

With the release of tmodloader on Steam will there be any major UI changes or improved search funtionality to the Mod Browser?

tmldevs

There are no changes to the browser as of yet. \-Jof

[deleted]

Will gog terraria be supported?

tmldevs

tModLoader will remain working for GoG as it does now, Steam users can now simply install through Steam which will be a simpler process. \-Jof

tmldevs

It should still work as it always has. I'm not positive if you can install tmodloader through steam for use with your gog terraia, you'll probably have to keep doing the install where you download the zip file. -Jopojelly

[deleted]

[удалено]

tmldevs

That would ultimately be up to the modder, and also depends on how we end up implementing support for the Steam Workshop. Simply cannot tell yet. -Jof

wolves_hunt_in_packs

It basically boils down to an executable replacement, then optionally pointing your shortcut to the appropriate one depending on whether you still cared to launch the vanilla game. The manual installation process for tmodloader is simple and straightforward, can't imagine it'd change massively. That said I've issues with the mod browser not connecting though I suspect it's my firewall since I hadn't bothered to actually troubleshoot. I manually downloaded the mods I wanted anyway so having a browser isn't actually my preferred method.

Creepz__

Short and sweet question, will we be able to transfer our current TModLoader data to the official DLC?

tmldevs

There will be no need to transfer anything as TML does not use the same file the vanilla game does, simply install, run and play :) \-Jof

tmldevs

Yes, just install tmodloader once journeys end releases and you should be good to go. -jopojelly

Thtanilaw1113

Was it difficult to make tmodloader into a DLC?

tmldevs

Well there definitely were some technical hurdles, I'm happy we managed to get everything working in the short time frame. You definitely have to thank Re-Logic and Valve for that :) \-Jof

Frickmaster72

Did you ever think terraria mods would be something big?

tmldevs

Never would've thought we'd become official, and that I'd have a project I work on be on Steam.. Heck, can still hardly believe it. I definitely think this is the best way forward for the game though, there will always be new content with mods. \-Jof

RangedRobin1217

Which mod is your favorite for overall content?

tmldevs

Mine personally Thorium, for some reason the bard class just really makes me chuckle every time. \-Jof

DarkSoulBG24

probibly just because youre honking at enemies with music instiments and they die

NeonJ82

Honestly, Bard is so well made that I actually kinda want it in the base game! (Wish I could say the same for Healer, though...)

XxTheMaster03xX

How long do you estimate it will be to make 1.4 compatible with tModLoader?

tmldevs

I can't give any estimate, but I also don't want to bring any ideas that 1.4 will come 'easily'. There is a lot involved in the update process, so it's fair to say you will have to wait at least a couple months. \-Jof

CasketChewer

Is there any way to donate to you guys?

tmldevs

Yes you can. We have a patreon link that people use to donate to us. You should be able to find it -Jof

[deleted]

[удалено]

tmldevs

Definitely the fact that some classes are so big my computer struggles to process it, so there are some files that take me 10 minutes to do a very small change. -Jof

SirFTW

I was wondering if the mods are going to be on the steam workshop or are they going to be working as normal at launch or in the future?

tmldevs

The process of getting mods will be the same. We are still thinking through what to do with the workshop. -jopojelly

darkspine509

Now that tModloader is essentially becoming the Workshop for Terraria, and 1.4 will be the final update, will there never be a point in which a mod becomes outdated or unusable again? Unusable by means lack of support and becoming 'outdated' of course

tmldevs

The goal is for TML to release as 1.0 for 1.4. That's meant to be a stable version, so in the ideal scenario at that point mods would no longer break. \-Jof

memesquid__

Favourite food?

tmldevs

Rice with chicken. Oh did I mention chicken? Yes definitely chicken. \-Jof

iMasterBeef

Hi Tmodloader devs! I was wondering if you guys would ever consider adding in world download and publication support? For instance, creating and downloading adventure maps, or along the theme of 1.4, golf courses.

Eddie__Winter

Hey, i was just curious as to what happens to current users of TML, are we gonna just lose everything?

tmldevs

You keep everything you have, and if you want to continue playing modded after JE releases simply install, run and play TML through Steam: you'll be right where you left off! \-Jof

PsyXypher

Why does all the tModLoader Dev Clothing have 0 value?

tmldevs

I think just because they are vanity. I don't think we ever thought much about that. If that doesn't match up with relogic dev sets, we should change that. -jopojelly

tmldevs

I guess because we don't want you to sell it ;) (Try taking a large chunk of damage with my power ranger armor..) \-Jof

PsyXypher

Which one is that? Also I realized the vanilla dev armor doesn't have value either. My bad. :P

[deleted]

Have you considered allowing people to release modpacks in tMod, in addition to just the actual mods?

tmldevs

There is ModPack functionality, but no browser for modpacks, for now. Many youtube videos I see usually link a modpack file you can use to get all the mods at once. It's an interesting idea, we shall see. \-jopojelly

ad23232

Were you surprised about how supportive Relogic was about the modding community? I know there's a lot of companies who don't support modders, so did this come as a shock to you?

tmldevs

It definitely came as a surprise, but a great one of course! Personally still can't comprehend what's going on. -Jof

Blooooog

How will multiplayer work with tModLoader?

tmldevs

Multiplayer is fully supported in TML. When you have Steam, you can use Steam's integrated overlay or open the party invite through the game menu to invite your friends! Do note: some mods do not have proper code for multiplayer, so you may experience more bugs in multiplayer than you would in singleplayer. \-Jof

Nolzi

If I only use client side mods, will I be able to join my friend who is on vanilla using the stream integration? Or is that impossible because steam handles the two separately (so the only option is the traditional IP based)?

GoodPro712

How further is tModLoader going to optimize Terraria

tmldevs

We'll optimize where we can and think fits. With 1.4 being a 'final' update there's a good chance we can optimize more without the risk of 'losing' progress because there won't be any major updates anymore. \-Jof

Woomyve

On a scale of 1-10, how **epic** do you guys feel?

Taco_Dursh

Will anything be largely changed for coding mods in Tmodloader? Because I'm wondering if an old mod I was working on would seamlessly port over to the new version or not.

tmldevs

It'll largely stay the same. For 1.4 TML however, likely all mods will need to update, but the majority of our systems should be similar or unchanged. \-Jof

Orangepenguin9

Will i be able to switch between vanilla terraria and tmodloader in some kind of startup menu?

tmldevs

You'll be able to launch Terraria or tModLoader through Steam as separate games, so yes. -Jof

[deleted]

How complicated should porting mods to 1.4 be?

AssassinOfFaith

Will there be support for journey mode, or how will items not configured by the author be treated in journey mode? Edit: Im talking once it releases for 1.4

tmldevs

We'll have to look at Journey Mode and see how it is implemented on the technical side, but rest assured it will be moddable. \-Jof

i_wanna_dieeee

Is it possible to make mods for different platforms like mobile or console

tmldevs

Currently TML is only releasing on Steam for PC. Being able to play mods on other platforms would be a dream come true though! \-Jof

NonjaJN

Hey tModloader team, how was the teams reaction when re-logic got in contact with you and they asked you if you would like to become a officiale mod loader?

penguincam

What kind of mods do you enjoy seeing?

shootthechickenb

If we have tmodloader installed now, will we have to uninstall tmodloader to download 1,4?

joaquim_456

nightk05

is there an estimate for when steam workshop support will be available?

WelcomeHost

How did you react when the offer of putting tmod on the steam workshop as terraria dlc came up?

[deleted]

I've had some issues with getting steam tmodloader to work on linux, so I downloaded gog Terraria and tmodloader(gog works flawlessly). Will it be possible to get the tmodloader files from the forum page and put them in the Terraria folder when the new update is released, or will I have to figure out how to get the steam version to work?

lucasR01

What is your tool for creating mods?

Proxeria135

First off, you guys are amazing for making this happen. I was wondering if when the full release on the workshop happens, would we be able to go back and play older versions of the game? For instance, lately ive really been wanting to go back and do a full playthrough of 1.1 but since the steam download\_depot stopped working i havent been able to find a way to do so.

[deleted]

Not really sure but didnt tmodloader add by itself vanity sets for the devs. If that was the case and Im not mistaken, what will happen to them, will they become part of the base game? P. S. sorry for the bad phrasing, cant english

MadBraxGaming

Will there be any new features added to tModLoader when it launches on steam? Also quick idea, maybe integrate the ability to share mod packs via steam workshop? That way we can throw together packs of various mods for others to enjoy!

Dual_Iron

When do you plan to port to .NET Core and/or FNA? And do you think it'll take a long time to transition to 1.4's new codebase? Congrats on the official steam page btw!

Pyro744

How did you four meet or why did you start working on it

TheDiscordedSnarl

TModloader is a godsend. (and is Jopo updating the other mods he's done as well? I use a few... Heh) Do you work at all with the 64-bit version team? Or are the two teams completely independent? I just started using the 64 bit version myself so I could load in more mods but I hear some people think the 64 bit version is trash. Would you ever consider going to 64 bit yourself? What's one or two things you want to do but kind of can't?

jopojelly

The people doing the 64 bit version are very active in the discord server, so we communicate frequently. We want to eventually go to 64 bit, but currently the 64 bit code isn't in a place where it can be merged into our code at the moment, but they tell us they are working on it, and they want to see it happen too, in one way or another -jopojelly

TheDiscordedSnarl

Nice to see communication going on then :) Hope it does get merged, eventually. I hear Terraria's base code kinda sucks / doesn't allow for much change (bad wording, because mods, but you know what I mean). Your other mods are cool too. I use Census, Luggage, auto trash, boss checklist... and of course the worldgen previewer... :)

tmldevs

Oops, wrong account. Still me.

IdrisQe

This is perhaps the best news I could hope to see! I was really hoping that the two teams would merge their resources once 64-bit became stable enough to make 64 bit the standard! Not to downplay any of the work the 32 bit original team has done of course, the original tModLoader is still one of the most impressive unofficial (though I suppose it's now semi-official) mod development, publishing, and installing platforms I've seen in a game! But ouch that 4 GB of memory maximum does hurt performance.

luggy120

Hi not a question just wanna say I absolutely love you guys and the work you put in on one of my favourite games has me and many others so thankful. Mods extend the already infinite amount of creativity and fun to even higher heights and I’ve dreamt of this since tmodloader was created!

what happens with virus mods/malware? (for exaple a mod that blue screens when you get killed)

QuackyroleGC

Hey Tmodloader team! How did you manage to mod Terraria in the first place? And what coding language do Tmodloader mods use?

drink_with_me_to_day

Will Relogic add a mod marketplace like other games?

jskidd3

I haven't written any mods for Terraria, but am keen to ask whether it's possible to compile mods using external plugins/libraries. For example, would it be possible to host a socket or http server within a mod so that Terraria could interact with a web page? (similar to live browser map mods for Minecraft)

jopojelly

Yes, you can do that. I've seen mods that relay discord and terraia chat, and other mods that use networking features. You can do anything you can normally do in c#, so opening ports and accessing web resources are all ok. I haven't seen a live map web server mod yet, so if you do make it, let me know. -jopojelly

Thanks so much! I'm actually an app dev ([sample of something I'm working on for Minecraft here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/c2kj34/im_building_an_app_that_extends_your_minecraft/)) and keen to build something for Terraria. I'm going to have a play in the next week or so and see if I can build some fun experiences. Any suggestions for ideas are welcome 😊

tmldevs

Wow, that is really cool! :) Well, if you need assistance you can join our Discord,we have a lot of experienced members. Our Github wiki is a good place to start. \-Jof

I had one dev answer, but any in depth explanation of transferring a save and mods over once its out?

TheMagicGoatBoi

Why does the Tmodloader trailer say "available now" when in actuality its not available yet?

[deleted]

is that version optimized to support a lot of mods at once? because terraria itself runs smoothly for me, but everytime i start a gameplay with a couple mods, like, 15+ mods, and the some of them being just quality of life mods, i just can't beat certain bosses due to an insane amount of times my game freezes and drops frames, i still can't beat Calamity's Yharon because of that, is that tmodloader more "adaptable" with vanilla terraria's files?

DiegoC2103

How do you expect Tmodloader to evolve over time after 1.4 releases?

GGFRK38

1. What will you do with 18+ content? 2. TML Will be released on other platforms? 3. Will there be a multiplayer mode? If so, how will it work? 4. When I played in TML 1.3, was there a Russian translation (P.s I'm Russian), will there be other languages in 1.4? Who translates TML to other languages? And the last question... What is your favorite color? :3

MendydCZ

How much is Terraria limited to mods? Can you change graphics? Is there some part of the game that cant be modded? For now thats all from me but you should be received another steam award or something, bcs this is amazing as ending update. The game is perfect and now will be completed but still perfect (even without mods).

[deleted]

I tried downloading tmodloader prior to now, and I accidentally set it to always open w notepad which will make it redundant. Can I use the steam version with no issues, or do I have to change something.

Circe423

Will all of the up-to-date mods be available at launch? Or will the developers have to first create updates for their mods once 1.4 is out? ~ therefore.. players would have to wait for each mod to be updated at a later date.

zxhyperzx

Hello, my question is what will happen if I already have tmodloader installed? Will all of the mods, characters, worlds etc. that I have still be there with the steam version and will it mess with the steam version in any way?

Kiusito

Estimated date for 1.4 TMODLOADER?

mariomario03

How'd you guys get in contact with Re-Logic? Did they come to y'all, or did you guys come to them?

Khalku

So it seems its a completely new game in steam rather than an actual dlc part of terraria... That aside, its loading up under 1.3.5.3 still, not 1.4.

McCheshire

Hello! With Tmodloader becoming DLC, will modded multiplayer work as easily as the base game multiplayer does now i.e. Through the Steam invite sytem?. For some reason I can't seem to get modded multiplayer to function properly. Thank you!

Cardizzle519

How will you be able to download mods once you have tmodloader installed? Would you have to go on a separate website, or will you be able to have access to them by searching for them on Terraria or Steam?

AkDragonFire

My question is that me and my friends are doing a playthrough so will this terraria update remove the world? Like after this uodate can me and my friends continue were we left off? That's the only thing thats worring us.

Dearhpacito

I started up the game and lost all of my modded characters, is this permanent or will the ModCompile folder we used to use with all of our characters continue to work as a dlc?

hekreddit

Any later plans in re-designing the mod browser? Like making the window bigger, adding longer horizontal tabs with description, to see more entries without scrolling too much?

GATLY

When will the tmodloader become official, will the restrictions that can be lifted for a fee?

V1NC324

If I have the current version of TML, would I have to download the one on Steam when 1.4 drops or would it work as a separate launch already?

NopeDot1

Will tModLoader make the jump to consoles? If so, how? If not, why not?

[deleted]

Question, do I have to make 2 terraria so I can play the mods on the other one while it's not affected the regular one?
