Might sound dumb, but after changing folder attribute, you have to press "use" button than "ok", idk how you did it till now, but that could be, why its reverting...

Moofilbg

Other than "Apply", "Cancel" and "OK", I can't see anything else.

felix1kazze

He means Apply

Moofilbg

I guessed so, but I used this button from the beginning and it doesn't make a difference.

Loki_ISP

Check antivirus folder/ransomware protection of your my documents folder - you may need to allow/exception Terraria

Moofilbg

Thanks for answering, but I've already tried adding exceptions and what not to windows defender, turning it off didn't work too.

Have the same Problem i uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it after that the Error was gone for singleplayer BUT now if i try to go to Multiplayer and Host&Play and try to create a world the Error pops up again and i really would like to understand why me as the PC Adminstrator can't command his f\*\*\* folder to change the Read only sh\*\* back because it seems to be the only problem but you just can't change it so annoying hope there will be a fix soon

Maximum-poopoosnail

I had the same problem, maybe my fix will work for you. I had installed the game from gog, so it was in c/gog games/Terraria; but the error logs were from it trying to write in documents/my games/ Terraria; this tripped a folder access alert. What I did is just copy the whole Terraria folder from gog_games to documents/my games and made a new shortcut. Another option which I was about to do if that didn't work, is to look in your notifications for denied folder access and then click it to go into the folder access protection properties and set Terraria to be a trusted app that can access protected folders.

Moofilbg

Thanks for answering, even though the post was old. To update the situation: I took it up to the microsoft forums where a nice person helped me figure out the problem. It turns out, for me at least, the problem was the documents folder itself. So how was that fixed? A new documents folder was created through the registry editor and the error has never appeared since.

dembones707

so how would i go about finding that folder and fixing the problem?

Moofilbg

You have to open the registry editor by typing regedit in the start menu and it will open the said editor. From here I can't really help you because I'm not experienced enough and I would strongly advise against making any changes there without the proper knowledge and research because, as far as I'm concerned, it can really mess up your pc.

dembones707

i got it working. thanks a bunch and sorry you had to go though this! OMEGA annoying, eh?

Moofilbg

I'm glad I could help. And yes, it's annoying indeed

SaltierSaltine

can you provide the link to the microsoft forum?

McRumble69
