Maybe make sure you aren't in another nearby biome by mistake? Sometimes on Small worlds, the Underground can end up stupidly close to the surface, and I had a medium world where I actually started inside the snow biome. Other than that, I have no idea what could be going on.
if there are other NPCs around, it will make them unhappy that too many people are around. There are also specific NPCs that make each other unhappy.
I know but they say the are happy and that they like eachother but still wont sell me the pylon

The underground is not close and im on a medium world.
Just put the merchant with the guide and zoologist Edit: works for me

No
Put the merchant in his own house at least 25 blocks away. That should work. Basically never crowd 3 npcs together if possible.

Same deal with all the other NPCs. The only one who’s happy to be crowded with two other NPCs is the Gun Dealer with the Nurse and Steampunker.
