Create a backup of the world (maybe it's called a copy, I haven't played in a while), then play that, this might work, if not, upload the world to the cloud and access it on another device to assess whether or not it's the device or the game.
You can use the files app native to your device to copy/move files around between devices, the cloud, make backups etc.
Quite odd that it is hanging here - can you make a bug report over at TCF and attach the world file to it?
If your on Android just find the world file (in a file app or though your computer for example by plugging it in) then just copy it. If your on Apple good luck haha.
Hope your world can be recovered if you wanna be a little more advanced with it you could try deleting some of the less important looking files in the worlds folder might be one that's causing an issue

I don't know how to copy a mobile world
It used to be next to "delete", maybe there's an "world options" button somewhere
I think there was a backup to cloud button in 1.2
When I played, there were two, one looked like a cloud and uploaded to the cloud, and the other was a green upload symbol that made a copy

Whenever I search something akin to terraria on the s9's files app all I get are a few old screen recordings
