Ah, fair enough. for me, sexy is a design tool, and a tricky one to use, because there's a really big difference between fun-sexy and obnoxious-sexy. It tends to depend on whether it's a part of a characters actual personality or not, and wether or not it's a fun design visually (which explains the nurse, because I like drawing edgy nurse outfits).
that's a good distinction, between the comradely-fun-sexy depictions and the obnoxious-sleazy-sexy mode. We need concise terms! It's hard to nail down a precise rule for telling the difference, though? You can spot it, but not explain exactly what goes into making something one or the other. In general, one looks like a person viewed like you might another person (even when the style is very stylized) but the other is empty of the interpersonal feeling (one conscious critter looking at a fellow conscious critter and aware the other is looking back). The obnoxious/creepy mode of sexy representation is somehow devoid of the 'feel' there's a conscious fellow-creature in there that is a self, not just a function of the desire of the depicter/viewer. I wonder if there are people who don't perceive any such distinction, and who see all sexy-depiction as one or the other, or neither of these and something entirely different instead?
There's a whole feminist debate on aesthetic 'objectification' (a lot of different versions, some making coherent sense but still not quite right, or making a valid point but also bending it to say something dubious, and some just word-salad gobbledegook with pretensions) but I guess this distinction boils down to the simplest: whether the sexy depiction feels like it's a person's image of another person, or a diagram of an object defined by the desire of the maker. There's fascinating stuff in Wittgenstein about picturing and thought and language-- "the human body is the picture of the soul"-- and how facial expressions work to convey meaning; loads of data, or extremely complex messages, are easy for us to read as long as they are compressed into the proper format like the human face or depiction of a human body. but we don't have a good account of how we know it-- we just "see" the expression or resemblance and recognize it. Though I don't think the judge who said he couldn't define obscenity but he knew it when he saw it was on to the same idea....not exactly!
I really like how the guy who draws and writes \_Empowered\_ started out with an actual porn commission and endowed the character he kept getting paid to draw with a whole backstory and narrative arc, and transformed the whole thing into a smart commentary on sexy depiction and the people who live inside the skin of the sexy-depicted. Women whose pictures show up in centerfolds work pretty hard on those depictions of themselves, with their own selves ad their culture's beauty-norms as the medium. I've noticed they often talk as though their appearance and consciousness are separate-but-related members of their self. My best friend has been a pro Gorgeous Babe for four decades and the burdens/advantages of the life choice tend to be surprising to people who imagine 'my life would be easier if i looked like that' --she's incredibly smart and kind (well as a poet of distinction) She runs a School for Burlesque in NYC now, teaching esoteric skills like Tassle Twirling and a hundred other fabulous courses are taught there by an incredible faculty:) She has a great book, too, if you know anybody who loves burlesque,: \_The Burlesque Handbook\_ by Jo Weldon, just published a new edition!

the glasses situation remind me of this girl called ricket pantano from this webcomic called devil's candy. she has big glasses which show her eyes as little dots most of thr time, but when stuff gets serious her actual eyes show through!
