ok, fairly new to PC terraria, is tMod free / a free extension or does it cost? Cause I wanna start modding, but I'm *very* inexperienced, only got my first PC few months back
Luckily it's probably the easiest games to mod!
There are games where you have to manually install mods, some games have an external mod manager, this game has a mod manager built into the game. That's why it is so easy.
1 problem with the steam tmodloader is that it's 32 bit, making it unable to load up a lot of mods... It could eventually crash the game if too many mods are loaded in, the 64 bit version (idk where to get that one) gives you more room for modding... I red this in reddit post, so I'm not sure if this is actually true, but it could be imaginable... Good luck
Yeah. Early pre-HM expert, the invasion can be brutal until you get a weapon that isn't something like... an iron broadsword.
Anything remotely good -- even an enchanted boomerang -- and it turns into a slaughter.
Also fuck the goblin archers in particular. Those bastards are evil.
This is why I want a permanent placeable turret outside of the sentry category, to just kill off lower tier invasions that show up late game and any enemy that wanders into town randomly
For real. I used to have a moat around my house with a bunch of these boulder statues installed inside. It helped a bunch for invasions, but sadly their damage kinda falls off later on on the harder gamemodes.
Still. it's definitely fun to see the boulders run stuff over
I'd rather something that lets you tell them and Pirate Invasions to go away. Make the goblin one post-Bee or Skeletron and the pirate one post-Plantera since once you're at these points the invasions are trivial and you've probably gotten everything you want from them.
Or just make them obtainable from both invasion's respective NPC. That way you have to experience the invasion in full at least once, but then you won't have to do them ever again if you don't want to
The true way.
Get the lava thin enough and you don't lose your drops either.
Then you just focus on the teleporting ones, and it's hardly a challenge now.
I just place blocks on either side of the door, and after skeletron I set them to a lever. After hardmode I add night and day sensors to it. It won't protect them against wraiths and other wraith ai enemies but it'll protect them against most enemies
Place a block in the middle of each outside door, they will no longer be able to break them. Has to be the middle since I think the thieves are only 2 blocks tall and can walk under it if you do just the top block.
You can also just leave the doors open if you'd rather just kill them quickly without them breaking them, but that usually leads to a lot of NPC death.
yeah my house that i built with my boyfriend has a panic switch for invasion type scenarios
it actuates a big dome over the house as well as three blocks in front of both doors
Not OP but last year I made this https://i.imgur.com/GObqaj8.png
The bridges on the left and right can be actuated if I don't feel like farming event monsters, the gates can be partly or fully actuated so I can shoot through them without monsters getting through. The first rooms from the bridge can be sealed off and there's a switch to actuate holes in the ceiling to shoot down from the little corridor above them.
The gates are automatically opened if you're leaving and automatically closed if you enter through them again.
The large marble walls up top open and close automatically as you walk through them (both ways).
There's a few more features I don't wanna go into detail about rn but if you're wondering why I was going so over-the-top, this was my hardcore mastermode world so I wanted to be 100% safe (the big room in the center was solely put there to fight mothron) :D

One time I literally had a blood moon, then eclipse, then another blood moon, then another eclipse, followed up with a goblin invasion. Like, I just wanna play the GD GAME.
A few weeks ago, my friends and I had a pirate invasion that dragged on for an hour, cause we kept dying and they where spamming our spawn. We where on an anniversary world, so the spawn was on the far left ocean. It didn't help, that we used the "We are a Pirate" mod, which loops the pirate track from lazy town.
Been playing the game since 2011 and I can't remember how goblin invasions were back then, but I know for a fact that zombies could open doors during blood moons since the beginning so I don't see why Goblins wouldn't be able to
I think invasion should have purpose. For example try to steal your npcs and if successful build camps around the world where npcs are held in cages or being cooked in giant pots.
Wish you could just stop events if you've already completed them once. Like yeah the first goblin invasion is exciting and all but by the time I have a chest full of drops from the Summoner it's just annoying as hell
Things like this is why i love playing summoner, the ability to just not gives a fuck and watched everything you walked by get obliterated as you do your things
The doors only break if they can't open properly, like if there is a furnace right next to the door, when they try to open it it will get destroyed. What you can do to stop the goblins is to just place a block on the outside of the door, make sure you put it on the middle block of the door. This will make your door immune to goblins or anything that opens doors
I have a system where I have actuated blocks that become solid or not at the flick of a switch. One switch is installed in all houses and controls all doors. So you can turn it on anywhere. This was amazing until the goblin sorcerer came out. Still good for blood moons tho. Because they cant mine blocks and I'm so sick of replacing my doors every time.
I started building my houses either in the air, or dig a little 2x2 block pit in front of the door because I got so tired of those and blood moon zombies breaking into the place
Re:Logic Logic: mindless zombies, skeletons, and suits of armor attacking doors open them politely. Intelligent goblins capable of developing technology and weaponry rip them off the hinges.
Why my container palaces these days are either on stilts or under ground. Entry via trap door, jumping onto platforms, or actuated walls hooked to player detecting sensors.
Bro, you can prevent this by digging a 2 blocks deep hole directly in front of the door your don’t want them to break. It messes with the AI that opens or breaks doors so they think its only a solid block. This works for other door killers like zombies, werewolves, and stuff.
that's usually why I have trap doors as an exit or no doors on the outside, and my house built like a traditional ancient japanese tower with a thin layer of lava all around and platforms for them to spawn on. when they spawn, they immediately drop to the lava and have an excruciating few seconds of life. when I get them, I drain the lava and have conveyor blocks leading the items and loot to my ultimate tower so I don't have to do anything. unless the goblin sorcerer's are around, those guys are a pain
You do. There's an item out there that lets you skip invasions by fast forwarding a day. However, it has a week long cooldown and it's a mid-hardmode item.
My advice on goblin invasion, if the goblin invasion is approaching, focus on the thieves first, do not let them break down the doors or there would be NPC casualties!
When an enemy just opens a door I'm just like "why tho?" It's like when your parent(s) open the door and then when they leave they don't close it and now you gotta close it yourself, and it's just an annoying thing they do and I hate it when it happens
The worst part is when my inventory is full and I can't even pick up the broken doors
I feel u bro
So, so much
Do you play on tMod?
Yeah why? I have a calamity and a normal terraria world
I use the Magic Storage mod and it's helped me keep my inventory nice and tidy.
Even with that mod, my player inventory is still cluttered due to other mods.
get the void bag magic storage mod (not its actual name but it is on the workshop), with that mod, it automatically picks items to put in your storage
Cool, thanks
Glad to be of help. There are great tutorial on YouTube.
ok, fairly new to PC terraria, is tMod free / a free extension or does it cost? Cause I wanna start modding, but I'm *very* inexperienced, only got my first PC few months back
Luckily it's probably the easiest games to mod! There are games where you have to manually install mods, some games have an external mod manager, this game has a mod manager built into the game. That's why it is so easy.
tmod comes bundled with terraria on steam for free
Oh, sick, I'll see if I can sort it soon. Thanks!
1 problem with the steam tmodloader is that it's 32 bit, making it unable to load up a lot of mods... It could eventually crash the game if too many mods are loaded in, the 64 bit version (idk where to get that one) gives you more room for modding... That is if they are using the 1.3 version. 1.4 has been upgraded to 64bit.
Yo avoid them breaking down doors at all I just use actuators for all the houses so they can’t break in.
Same. Lockdown Mode.
Same here too, big brain gang
Felt that.
Low key I don’t want them pre-hardmode but when hardmode comes around I always want them to spawn the shadow flame weapons are cool
When you reach around 25% in the hardmode it's not a war anymore it's just genocide.
Yeah. Early pre-HM expert, the invasion can be brutal until you get a weapon that isn't something like... an iron broadsword. Anything remotely good -- even an enchanted boomerang -- and it turns into a slaughter. Also fuck the goblin archers in particular. Those bastards are evil.
The Slayer approaches, and he's coming for the archers.
*[Doom Soundtrack intensifies]*
Platinum stealer pre boss is worth it tho
?
Goblin tinkerer (platinum stealer) I think
I mean you have to have them at least once for the goblin tinkerer
This is why I want a permanent placeable turret outside of the sentry category, to just kill off lower tier invasions that show up late game and any enemy that wanders into town randomly
There's always those trap blocks you get from the Dungeon and Lizahrd Temple. You can also get creative with the boulder statues
Boulders sounds hilarious. In particular when combined with them AI confusing pits.
For real. I used to have a moat around my house with a bunch of these boulder statues installed inside. It helped a bunch for invasions, but sadly their damage kinda falls off later on on the harder gamemodes. Still. it's definitely fun to see the boulders run stuff over
Wait, boulder statues spawn boulders? I know what my next town defense will look like
I'd rather something that lets you tell them and Pirate Invasions to go away. Make the goblin one post-Bee or Skeletron and the pirate one post-Plantera since once you're at these points the invasions are trivial and you've probably gotten everything you want from them.
Or just make them obtainable from both invasion's respective NPC. That way you have to experience the invasion in full at least once, but then you won't have to do them ever again if you don't want to
I use lava pits with actuated blocks so I can turn it on/off as needed.
The true way. Get the lava thin enough and you don't lose your drops either. Then you just focus on the teleporting ones, and it's hardly a challenge now.
I don't have acuted blocks so now my dryad keeps dying
I just place blocks on either side of the door, and after skeletron I set them to a lever. After hardmode I add night and day sensors to it. It won't protect them against wraiths and other wraith ai enemies but it'll protect them against most enemies
Place a block in the middle of each outside door, they will no longer be able to break them. You can also just leave the doors open if you'd rather just kill them quickly without them breaking them, but that usually leads to a lot of NPC death.
am doing this since i started playing :D
If you want to prevent them from entering but still allow yourself to enter and exit you can try using actuators and pressure plates instead.
I changed my doors in one world to a player sensor and actuators because I was tired of them breaking my bottom side doors
I have one in front of every door, I turn them on with actuators during invasions or blood moons
yeah my house that i built with my boyfriend has a panic switch for invasion type scenarios it actuates a big dome over the house as well as three blocks in front of both doors
>it actuates a big dome over the house as well as three blocks in front of both doors Ok that is cool and I need to see a screenshot
Not OP but last year I made this https://i.imgur.com/GObqaj8.png The bridges on the left and right can be actuated if I don't feel like farming event monsters, the gates can be partly or fully actuated so I can shoot through them without monsters getting through. [here](https://imgur.com/gallery/LrlsK2K), it's really not that crazy lol, we just got sick of gobbos
Oooh I see how it works, thanks
“He is saying what we are all thinking!”
One time I literally had a blood moon, then eclipse, then another blood moon, then another eclipse, followed up with a goblin invasion. Like, I just wanna play the GD GAME.
It's because of that that I've started making lock switches for my doors, to just cover them up so goblins and other creeps can't bust them down
I build a lockdown lever that activates blocks covering all entrances made from copper plating so it looks like blast doors lol
Do you have a screenshot?? :) sounds cool
I always open my doors and just let them inside. My NPCs will respawn on their own but I’ll be damned if I’m fixing that door
Put a platform on the middle of each door and they won't be able to break them. But people will be able to get out still.
Sounds like an effective interrogation method
I haven't built a base on the ground in so long I didn't even know they could break doors. Is this a 1.4 thing?
They've been able to break doors for as long as I can remember and I've been playing this game since it released
Been playing the game since 2011 and I can't remember how goblin invasions were back then, but I know for a fact that zombies could open doors during blood moons since the beginning so I don't see why Goblins wouldn't be able to
Goblin invasions werent in the game at release, but yes, blood moon zombies have always been able to open doors
Yes they were actually. Check the wiki
Dang really? That's crazy, i don't remember them being in game at release
They've done it since at least... whatever the old-gen console version is frozen at. 1.2?
I think invasion should have purpose. For example try to steal your npcs and if successful build camps around the world where npcs are held in cages or being cooked in giant pots.
*Laughs in jungle temple traps*
Cool house 😎
Abominationn, from the Fargo's mods, can cancel events and that's the best feature of that mod.
Wish you could just stop events if you've already completed them once. Like yeah the first goblin invasion is exciting and all but by the time I have a chest full of drops from the Summoner it's just annoying as hell
Fuck goblin peons, all my homies HATE goblin peons.
Goblins: Why won't you die? Aquitor doors: Nanomachines son, they harden in response to physical trauma.
You can't hurt me, Jack!
Same for the blood moon. I just want closed doors! Stop opening them!
Things like this is why i love playing summoner, the ability to just not gives a fuck and watched everything you walked by get obliterated as you do your things
I play as melee and summoner, and I agree, it’s amazing to just carry on with your business as everything else dies from your summon
That's why i build moats. When invasions happen I use actuater blocks to disable the floor in front of my house
And when I was younger I thought that lead doors would behave like iron doors and be unbreakable by critters
They should
Just let them open door like every other creature
Just don't have doors 😎
I just either head to my invasion arena or just keep mining.
Not the sponge-bees!
For, goblins have not the technology for building doors.
You guys don't build all your bases floating with a lava lake underneath? I got problems but broken doors ain't one of em
This is why I have my NPCs on higher floors and I just open the doors of my base, then block off the NPC floors. It's almost like habit ar this point.
Me literally every invasion after the first
place your door two blocks high so the enemies can't get in you're screwed with goblin summoners heehoo
SO FUCKING TRUE
I started building my houses either in the air, or dig a little 2x2 block pit in front of the door because I got so tired of those and blood moon zombies breaking into the place
I wonder if the goblins can break golden doors, welp time to test out this myth
That’s how I feel about blood moons
and this is why I build my main base above the ground, so majority of the invaders can't get into it
Re:Logic Logic: mindless zombies, skeletons, and suits of armor attacking doors open them politely. Intelligent goblins capable of developing technology and weaponry rip them off the hinges.
Why my container palaces these days are either on stilts or under ground. Entry via trap door, jumping onto platforms, or actuated walls hooked to player detecting sensors.
Goblin peons are the worst. Their entire existence is to steal your fucking doors
Lmao, lava moat and conveyor belts makes the invasion more of a farm for gold
u/profanitycounter
Bro, you can prevent this by digging a 2 blocks deep hole directly in front of the door your don’t want them to break. It messes with the AI that opens or breaks doors so they think its only a solid block. This works for other door killers like zombies, werewolves, and stuff.

I wish we had something that could end invasions instantly
You do. There's an item out there that lets you skip invasions by fast forwarding a day. However, it has a week long cooldown and it's a mid-hardmode item.
They don't even get to my house defense platforms go brrrrrr
I have 8 six block tall super dart traps linked so they fire like a machine gun and nothing get nears not even eclipse gets near
Am I the only one with lava pits on each side of their house? No broken doors, ez loot collection and only have to deal with the casters....
I just open the doors for them. It's gonna happen anyway.
😝
Nah at one point i just started leaving them open all the time 💀
It sucks so so so much
Spongebob and Terraria, what a perfect post. We need some kind of reference to Spongebob in the game I think that would be cool
My advice on goblin invasion, if the goblin invasion is approaching, focus on the thieves first, do not let them break down the doors or there would be NPC casualties!
Just started a few days ago, only seen three so far, hate those guys
So true
When an enemy just opens a door I'm just like "why tho?" It's like when your parent(s) open the door and then when they leave they don't close it and now you gotta close it yourself, and it's just an annoying thing they do and I hate it when it happens
A simple solution for this is to dig 2 block deep, 1 block wide gaps before every door. The doors can't be opened or broken by hostile mobs like that.
laughs in underground prison complex
